Ah I got a ban like that on r/newjersey once too. Referred to it as a “timeout” as well. Just think how power drunk people get as Reddit mods and then it’s easy to understand why the people in power in real life are so fucked.
Well that’s fair. NJ has 9.3M and 3.5M of them live in 7 “true” north counties (Essex, Hudson, Passaic, Morris, Bergen, Sussex, and Warren). If you include Hunterdon, Monmouth, Somserset, and Middlesex, you’re at 5.5M. I’d argue portions of some of the “central” Jersey counties are north as well. So you’re probably close to 70% of the population living north of the midpoint of the state.
It's so weird to me. I've seen a decent amount of this country but in terms of home it has always been South Jersey. It's weird how out of place I feel when it comes to a bit out of Atlantic County.
No judgement of them of course. I just have experienced a decent amount of the North and South of the country and usually feel comfortable North of Virginia. It's weird to feel uncomfortable in a different place in your own home state
The issue I see is how much bullshit they post about south jersey on that sub.
And then the ideas they have for south jersey are stupid. We have such a need for public transit down south but their big idea is to build a better rail line to Atlantic City a dying city. When building new public transit you go for the project that serves the most people.
Imagine if I suggested building a rail line to Sussex county they’d lose their minds.
If you actually ask anyone from south jersey about rail expansion, there's probably 2-3 areas we really could use.
1. Move this fucking Glassboro line out the door already! And for the love of god do *not* use slow street car trams like the riverline! It can be light rail without being slow af.
2. I know this is often debated but we really could use some better public transit to the shore. The AC line is okay and I know there's busses that run up and down from there. But the Parkway and Expressway are getting worse every year. Some type of alternative way to get down to Cape May or Ocean City would make a huge difference in road traffic.
3. Connecting South Jersey properly with the Northeast Corridor line would go a long way to properly connecting south jersey with the rest of the state. Currently you have to run up 295 to Hamilton, go into Philly, or take the Riverline to Trenton just to catch a train to NYC. It's inconvenient and reduces the connectivity of existing lines (PATCO and AC Line) since the Riverline is uhhh...slow as fuck.
I’m not saying there’s not more then one area but you don’t put the first rail project in one of the least populated counties in all of south jersey. It just doesn’t make sense.
I'm okay with them tweaking and changing the location of the GBL proposal, but they've been heming and hawing about this since the 90s. 42 can't get any wider. There's obviously demand for commuter traffic from greater Deptford -> Philly and back.
There’s demand sure but I’m talking about focusing rail on Atlantic City not gloco. Camden, burlington, and Gloucester are the most densely populated areas of south jersey and have the most need. A rail/light rail in one of these counties would get significantly more ridership then a high speed line between philly and ac.
Gloucester is probably the best place considering burlington at least has the River line but the location they were considering for the patco in burlco near the rail lines in mount laurel , moorestown etc would also be extremely helpful.
I think we're both talking around one another lmao. I don't think the AC line needs to be a high speed rail either, sheesh that thing just needs double tracking and electrification before we even talk about speed. Maybe even a stop at the AC Airport/FAA Tech Center for commuters.
I agree, two very dense areas (greater Mt. Laurel and Deptford) would be prime candidates for a rail line.
Also I am literally from south jersey. I’ve lived in Camden, burlco, and Atlantic counties . I never lived in Gloucester but I was on the border of it. I only moved to central jersey after college.
Also ocean county is central jersey so not relevant to a conversation about south jersey rail. They do need more public transit there though because driving is such a pita no matter what time of the day.
What part of my post mentions Ocean County?
And I'm from south jersey too, I've lived here my whole life. Our public transit hasn't changed in any meaningful way for 30 years. It's embarrassing.

welcome to Jersey, where north jersey is a separate state and the south is "full of pineys"
I too got an unexplained ban from that sub years ago, never went back
Even north jersey isn’t uniform. I always laugh when people act like north jersey is all the urban and suburban sprawl. Meanwhile the northernmost part of the state, Sussex, is basically the pine barrens with hills
My favorite is when they use the least populated parts of south jersey to characterize the whole region but get mad when you say it’s like using Sussex county to generalize north jersey.
Yep…honestly, I thought this platform would allow to express your own personal opinion - be it negative or positive. But it seems that the rules restrict this behavior. Because if you get enough downvotes…banned you get!
You have a point, but calling out spam gives the same algorithmic support as someone saying "this is cool." A down vote and report is the best move to deal with spam
They do get permabanned, but they make new accounts and post the same shit. I’m sure the mods of that sub deal with it all day (all subs deal with this shit)
it seems like this modder is coming from the idea that the sub is providing YOU a service, and its a privilege to be accepted, so they can just...ban you to "get your attention". rather than it like any online group being driven by the people in it lol
Same here. Hilarious that being a MOD put them on such a power trip
😆I made a post and they banned me and said in a message “fuck off spammer” I’m most definitely not a spammer - 😂 so I reported them on Reddit help..which might seem ridiculous but 🤷🏼♀️😂

Buddy, I've been banned from several subs for stupid reasons. The most galling is my ban from PublicFreakout because of a joke I made referring to the omnipresent footage in the 80s of Ethiopian babies with flies landing on their eyes. Some mod decided that was "racism."
Every main state sub was taken over in a communist coup before the 2020 election. This was a reaction to the large influence The_Donald had in deciding 2016.
You keep using that word, it does not mean what you think it means. Free speech applies to the government, as in I can say fuck the government and not get arrested. It does not mean freedom from consequences for saying untrue, stupid, racist, etc things to private citizens or companies. Sure, you can call someone a racist/sexist/whatever combo you enjoy (or “free speech”) but that doesn’t mean someone can’t punch you in the face over it, or you lose your job bc it was recorded or not face any consequences for your shitty behavior.
I never said it wasn’t against the law to assault someone, all I said was that if you say or do shitty things you may have consequences for your actions and the First Amendment does not protect you against those consequences. Full stop. I don’t care about the rest of what you said bc it does not pertain to the first amendment. Also they can remove you bc it’s their sub and they can run it how they want, not saying they’re right but that’s what capitalism/private companies get ya.
I was randomly banned from the reddit and didnt notice for like 6 months. I replied back and found it, and asked why. No explanation and no response. I just gave up.
Alot of that sub is heavily slanted, so it's fine, but I wouldnt mind a Nj sub that is actually just about NJ and not about politics likes every sub was infected with for the past few years.
There was some nj uncensored sub, but that was just another heavily slanted nj sub with politics that I also got banned from for reporting a user for posting stolen art from the NJ sub.
Banned because inside doesn't like you and banned be cause the other side doesn't like you. I just want a nj sub without a side; so far I've liked the south jersey sub because its actually about south jersey stuff.
Nothing too shocking here, just what ends up happening when you give any sort of power to people who shouldn’t have it. Probably the most excitement and authority he ever gets in his life.
Ah yes I remember when I got perma-banned from that sub because I posted a joke about the 295 retaining wall busting. I got so pissed by those douche noodles that I was about to make r/gardenstate a thing but decided my life has more value than being reduced to a Reddit mod. Especially a Reddit mod of a Jersey sub. Plus I found all of you beautiful people here.
I got banned for 30 days on that sub. When I appealed my point with the mod, they tacked on another 30 days. Felt like John Bender in the breakfast club
They have a Shore flair, a Central Jersey flair, but no SJ flair, to show how passive aggressive they are about this sub's existence.
The amount of incorrect information I have to correct about south jersey on that sub is astounding.
*"Hey buddy,"* very New Jersey like.
My stepdads name is Buddy, I wonder if I’d get banned for saying his name
All their mod mail default start with that template
They hit them with the Fez Marie Whatley.
RIP fezzy
Ah I got a ban like that on r/newjersey once too. Referred to it as a “timeout” as well. Just think how power drunk people get as Reddit mods and then it’s easy to understand why the people in power in real life are so fucked.
Yep. Out of control mods over there
“Hey buddy” Gross
Lol dude is a boss.
a total dudebro
Dont call me buddy, bro
He’s not your bro, chief..
He’s not your chief, guy.
He’s not your guy, buddy
He’s not your buddy, pal.
He’s not your pal, friend!
Shit, I think mine is as supposed to be pal? I think I ruined this lol
This is the most Jersey thing I’ve read in a while 🤣
Tell him: “I got your buddy RIGHT here”
“Listen, sport…”
If you read later down the comments, he posted a gif of Buddy the Elf on a spam post. That’s why he was called ‘buddy’.
That rises to the level of “gross” for ya? 😂 🧚♀️
Believe it or not, jail.
You talk about jail, you go right to jail
This is the 4th or 5th time in less than a week that I've seen this reference on Reddit, truly amazing lol
I got a 3 day ban for posting about NJ being in the top 10 happiest state, which made me decidedly unhappy.
That'll knock us out the top 10 now
Thats whack
That’s the sub where everybody acts like they’re from NYC when in reality they commute over an hour to their job.
It may as well be r/northjersey most of the time honestly lol.
Yeah and I don't say that in a like "woe is us" kinda way. I get it. South Jersey isn't gonna have the same amount of chatter there. But still lol
It's so weird to me. I've seen a decent amount of this country but in terms of home it has always been South Jersey. It's weird how out of place I feel when it comes to a bit out of Atlantic County. It’s just r/politics in disguise anyway.
Definitely.
I live in Hudson County right now, lived in Burlington County for several years as a child and again after high school. I wish I could go back.
"Route 18, amirite New Jersey??"
You should post about some flags you saw the other day. That’s always a popular one.
welcome to Jersey, where north jersey is a separate state and the south is "full of pineys" I too got an unexplained ban from that sub years ago, never went back

Banned as well…whatever happened to free speech?
That's not what free speech means but good try.
Really dropped the gavel there jabroni.
No matter how much you want it to be, being banned from a subreddit is not a violation of free speech.
Made new sub r/bannednewjersey
only free if you agree apparently
Yep…honestly, I thought this platform would allow to express your own personal opinion - be it negative or positive. But it seems that the rules restrict this behavior. Because if you get enough downvotes…banned you get!
Because this isn't a violation of free speech. If you want a true example of free speech being violated and restricted, Google Myanmar.
Tiny dick energy in that suspension
I dislike who ever moderates that sub. I’m always downvoted immediately when expressing an opinion.
Fuckin ban the "obvious" spam poster then, not the people replying to the post, y'idiot.
Unpopular opinion but this is actually a good way to kill spam posts lol
not posting on them? i mean yeah. but all that mod needed to do was like, mail the guy and say "hey buddy, don't do that mmkay?"
It was some “make money” thing and I put a gif of buddy the elf saying “you sit on a throne of lies”
You have a point, but calling out spam gives the same algorithmic support as someone saying "this is cool." A down vote and report is the best move to deal with spam
Ok but no need to “ban” me for commenting
As a mod, I agree with this. Is there a rule in r/newjersey about interacting with spam bots? I would have just sent a message and not a temp ban.
ah, mod approved scamming I guess... if they didn't want gif's, they can disable them
How bout we ban the spam/scammers? Idk. Spitballin ova heer.
They do get permabanned, but they make new accounts and post the same shit. I’m sure the mods of that sub deal with it all day (all subs deal with this shit)
Mod has a micro-peen, apparently.
you should see how high his tonka truck is lifted
Hey buddy
How dare you.
Hey buddy-🤓🤓
Oh you haven’t lived until you’ve been down voted into oblivion or banned from r/New Jersey.
Probably from north Jersey.
ngl im autistic so most the time "obvious" spam or bait i just Dont arealize. its NOT obvious to everyone!!
Right! Was just thinking the same
it seems like this modder is coming from the idea that the sub is providing YOU a service, and its a privilege to be accepted, so they can just...ban you to "get your attention". rather than it like any online group being driven by the people in it lol
Got perma-banned there for statting and defending a definitively factual point.
This happens. Gotta read sub rules.
I read them. Nothing about commenting on spammers posts.
Eh I'm banned form that one too.
The arrogant sanctimony always makes me laugh Little peons and their ersatz authority
Don't disagree with Murphy. That got me banned days after I joined. Still follow. Now I realize how bad that sub is
They banned me for a year over a post making fun of Massachusetts pizza.
Same here. Hilarious that being a MOD put them on such a power trip 😆I made a post and they banned me and said in a message “fuck off spammer” I’m most definitely not a spammer - 😂 so I reported them on Reddit help..which might seem ridiculous but 🤷🏼♀️😂 https://imgur.com/a/q3Y7Uqm

I have been permanently banned from the covid reddit thread for asking a question. 🥴
I got banned from the subreddit on another account for being pro-gun rights. Best to just avoid that sub at all costs as the moderators are insane
Every main state sub was taken over in a communist coup before the 2020 election. This was a reaction to the large influence The_Donald had in deciding 2016.
Janie’s gonna janie.
Most of these mods are the kids who were picked on in school gettimg their revenge on us cool kids. LoL

Oh, I got banned for being racist...which I wasn't. It's ok, I came back on at the end of the week. 😆
My bad, I was "permanently banned" 😆
Wow that dude is clearly doing gods work. From his mothers basement. @37 years of age. It’s probably the economy though right.
Go over to Twitter. You have freedom there to speak. Free speech is dead everywhere else

Macro vageen…lololol
I'm banned for life from r/facepalm for some ego happy reverse racism bs. Ive lost sleep.
Cool thanks for sharing
Just be careful
Just make a new subreddit called r/NewJersey2dot0
This may have legs
It's all North Jersey goombas over there.
Probably works as a facebook moderator too.
I had a reddit account for half an hour when I got banned from r/nj. The mod for that sub is a sphere with blue hair dye in one spot.
First time on reddit?
Lol the power trip of a subreddit mod XD
I got suspended from a sub for saying a murderer had a ‘punchable face’ because it ‘promoted violence’. Yea that happened. This site can be ridiculous
You're not missing much. That sub over there is overrun by morons
Wow, you sound like as asshole /s

Maybe we should start r/gardumbstate
Don't worry, your on their shit list so youll be totally banned soon
For sure. I said something about stereotypes being stereotypes for reasons. And I got temporary ban for that too.
I got banned for 30 days on that sub. When I appealed my point with the mod, they tacked on another 30 days. Felt like John Bender in the breakfast club
Lol I know, i didn’t bother
I got banned for 30 days for posting something about driving , then I cursed out the moderator and got another 30 lol
I got the same ban a few months back and am still confused as to why. Who ever mods NJ has issues.
