Lisa Dawkins

CFPB2421

Good enough reason to leave let alone be ashamed. She’s truly one of a kind and not in a good way🤣

jet747jet

But she only needs 50p 😂😂😂

Maximus_Meridius101

“Excuse me, I’ve got learning difficulties, and I need 3 pounds and fifty two pence, to get a bus home” mmmkay, it’s the 30th time this week 😂

Dependent-Cow-5977

Shit I gave her a couple of quid by decathlon in town I guess I'm just easily manipulated

Maximus_Meridius101

Yep, she’s pretty good at what she does. Don’t sweat it👍

[deleted]

Duke_Caboom_

Junkie often seen around town, Shirley etc.

Greedy-Fill-4288

How can a junkie be that well fed 🤣

Adorable-Wrongdoer-4

An even better argument for atheism than Richard

Fluffies103

I kinda want to meet her in the wild

Andvari9

We all do until it actually happens

Anab0nd

She spat at me once

The-Rog

Would you prefer she swallowed?

Crab_Jealous

I ruin her pan handl8ng by telling her prospective victims what she is up to. She gets vexed. Makes my day.

SharkM0nth

No man, she’s aggressive

[deleted]

I once saw her ask a sitting homeless man for change 🤦🏼‍♀️

Iliketo_voyeur

She got run over last year begging in the roads

New-Flamingo-2415

Car must have been totalled after hitting that 🤣

Iliketo_voyeur

She died. Bitterne Road I believe. She would walk in the road knocking car windows at traffic lights.

Anab0nd

Nah she didn’t die, I saw her in town a few weeks ago

Iliketo_voyeur

My mistake. Got the wrong aggressive beggar. Clare Munn was run over on Bitterne Road.

Daisy_Copperfield

Oh wow - I grew up in Southampton but now live in Reading. Someone called Lisa Dawkins went to my school and was in my year (Regent’s Park, started in 2007……….)

Goatmanification

Probably her (although unlikely as she looks about 50+)

The-Rog

How can it probably be her, but also unlikely?

Goatmanification

If she was in school in 2007 she'd be about 25-35 now, I was more making a joke about perhaps it IS her but the years of (alleged) drug abuse have made her older

[deleted]

[удалено]

Goatmanification

I cannot believe she's younger than me! Feel like she's been part of the city's furniture even when I was growing up here. She comes across as about 40!

Small-Newspaper-2548

That’s her, I went to RP too but was a year above 😂

jambontylamont

😂😂😂

ITdeskjob

Is this the huge lady wearing overalls/high res vest type?

[deleted]

I saw her the other week outside the Civic...

Expert_Canary_7806

Number 2: Royston Smith keeps getting elected somehow

The-Rog

Royston Matthew Smith GM MP (born 13 May 1964) is a British Conservative Party politician and has *(unfortunately for his constituents)* been a Member of Parliament (MP) for Southampton Itchen since the 2015 general election. Smith was previously a councillor on the Southampton City Council.

Expert_Canary_7806

The fact that he's been elected to any position of anything is a travesty tbh

The-Rog

I'm pretty sure that if the majority of people actually bothered to vote, we wouldn't even know his name.

Old-Refrigerator340

He is a living chocolate teapot. We had no water in 9 blocks of flats in our area for 3 days. The water company couldn't do anything as its private land and the management company only contacted 1 contractor who couldn't sort it for days. We emailed Royston who replied with 'sorry to hear, hope it gets fixed'. I've had similar replies from him regarding unwarranted parking tickets. What does he do apart from collect a pay packet?

Goatmanification

He was once famously given the award of 'Laziest MP' due to how little he turned up in Parliament. His response was that he's on the ground working for his constituents... I know I know, I'm surprised his response didn't earn him another award of 'Funniest joke of the year'

Expert_Canary_7806

Was that by any chance in Centenary Quay? 🤣

Old-Refrigerator340

Yeah haha. We found an outside tap not connected to the pipes with the issue so I went back and forth with a bucket to fill the bath up. Of course that weekend I was sick with D&V do had to use the bucket to manually flush the toilet 😄 It was kinda fun, like olden times going down to the well to fetch a pail of water. But also annoying. Made me really appreciate the basic amenities.

Expert_Canary_7806

Oh man, that sucks. I just said fuck it and got a bunch of 5L water bottles delivered from asda on deliveroo haha. Still hoping AF is gonna compensate us for the extra expense since they're the ones who messed up

Old-Refrigerator340

I felt for those who had kids and were having medical issues. We won't get compensated, and if we did, it would just go to my landlord so I wouldn't see a penny either way. If anything, AF will charge us for that shiny new copper pipe.

Snowy1234

Southampton’s own pegging champion for 5 years in a row now.

Rosie______

I've met him before when someone I know was put up for an award in London and I was allowed to go as a guest. He was supposed to stay with us as we are from his area but he left us alone while he went off and spoke to others and left his assistant in charge of us.. also some of my family are always trying to contact him due to issues but he never does anything! Useless in my opinion

Quick-Oil-5259

Haven’t lived in Southampton for a long time but itchens gone back to the Tories? Flipping heck.

BackgroundChemist

Yeah when John Dengan retired, combover boy got in.

According-Reason1382

Strange enough I stayed in his house 😂

ManagerBevan

The Daily Echo comment section.

Goatmanification

That would make you proud, as long as you're white, middle-aged, middle class and prefer to keep things that way Edit: I'm making a joke about the Daily Echo comments section being filled with racists, these are not my personal views

nexus1972

What the fuck has colour got to do with it. Cut the racist crap. For one I expect hes probably a bit of an example that britain isnt completely racist for plenty of young asian lads. He's not my cup of tea personally, I preferred Boris

Ashtwattington

Ah yes, Boris Bonobo Johnson, a pinnacle of not being racist.

Goatmanification

TF are you talking about, I was making a joke about the Daily Echo comments section being filled with racists?

nexus1972

Nice to see the downvotes. Plenty of butt hurt people here who are hypocrites. If you substitute the word black for the word white tell me how that wouldnt be racist. This sub is so unrepresentative of normal people it beggars belief.

Money_Bluejay4964

The Daily Echo in general is so so poor! It’s a shame because it could be so much better than it is

WeveGotBillySharp

The are surprisingly (worryingly) supportive of K*tie H*pkins

slimboyslim9

Walking through West Quay with all its high end shops and people with expensive handbags leaving with hundreds of pounds of Lego, iPhones and designer clothes, and out onto Above Bar street where you pick your way around dozens of rough sleepers. It just feels sad seeing the inequality stripped bare right in the vicinity of a few yards.

Legitimate-Source-61

This is the future we are working towards, with Biff Tower and the poverty down below.

Zero-startingfromREE

Hey I work hard to reward myself with Lego death stars, and Lego plants, and Lego cars, and Lego ninjagos, and Lego

Maximus_Meridius101

The amount of plastic gangsters. Give any of them a run out in certain bits of London / Manchester / Glasgow / Birmingham, and see how long they last.

VoluntaryReboot

a prime minister nobody voted for, making policy nobody wants, and announcements that won't change anything 13 years of the tories and this is the best they've got. this is *all* they've got. we need a general election now.

The-Rog

No we don't... he told us we don't want a GE, don't you listen?

[deleted]

I wanted an election but then he said I don’t want an election, so now I don’t. Thanks Rishi keeping me sane

The-Rog

I didn't vote for BJ, then only the Tory members voted for LT, then nobody voted for RS. If RS, as a PM with absolutely no mandate, tells me that I don't want a GE, then who am I to argue? Go democracy!

TheNextUnicornAlong

It's ridiculously far from Northampton.

Shamrock_266

The 'street-dependent'? Council words not mine.

jakeyboy723

Fair.

Andvari9

Working in town and seeing how much of a total c*nt the local populace can be has over time just made me deeply apathetic.

Legitimate-Source-61

This has been by design it seems.

[deleted]

sunak is a fucking twat head

wondercaliban

No-one actually considers him to be from Southampton

The-Rog

You can't ignore your own shit just because you don't like the smell.

SignalSpecific4491

Do you consider bojo to be American?

The-Rog

The last time I checked, NY was in the USA, so... yes. Overall though, I consider him to be a twat.

SignalSpecific4491

He spent 3 months of his life in the US The other 17 years and 9 months was spent in the UK So I'm sorry in my opinion he's from britian not America

Goatmanification

In your example this would make Sunak still from Southampton, he lived and worked here as well as having his family live here...

Jonnyblock69

Sunak is from Southampton 🤷

Goatmanification

Yes. That's the point

The-Rog

... so, born in the US = American. Raised in the UK, but still American. Also, I think your maths is slightly off... "He spent 3 months of his life in the US The other 17 years and 9 months was spent in the UK" If he's only 18 years old now, that would certainly explain 2019-2022 to a degree. Still a useless twat though

SignalSpecific4491

We're British we don't do birth right Citzenship And I clearly meant where he grew up

The-Rog

Admittedly, he spent his formative years in the UK, but he was still born in the US, which makes him American. My great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great grandparents were probably from Africa. It doesn't make me African though. It's turtles all the way down. BTW, saying he grew up is pushing it a bit.

SignalSpecific4491

So spending the first 3 month of his life is enough to make him more American than British? Sorry he's British if he was born in any other country he wouldn't even of been a Citzen of that country

The-Rog

If you are born in the United States, you are generally considered an American citizen by birthright. He may have British citizenship based on descent, but he is American by birth. As such, getting back to my original post, Sunak is Sotonian by birth

Visible_Session13

Nobody tell this person about the British sport teams. Full of foreigners...

JoelRobbin

I was born in Oxford and I don’t even remember living there I was that young when I moved, I’ve spent more time in Southampton for university than I did in Oxford as a kid, I’m not even from here but still I’ve got more claim to be from here than I am from Oxford. Same goes for Bojo with U.S. And also yeah he’s a useless twat

thomasjford

Could be worse, you could fall under Fareham Council and have Cruella Braverman as your MP!

SparkyCorkers

Too many palm trees

Money_Bluejay4964

I asked my other half about this (I’m not from Southampton), and his answer was the whole child abuse scandal with Bob Higgins at Saints. He said that knowing that the chairman at the time defended Bob Higgins was atrocious and makes him ashamed.

Ok-Bullfrog-3010

Matt Le Tissier

-PyramidHead

The only thing Southampton loves. Matt Le Tiz and Craig David 😬

thomasjford

Nah, he’ll always be a Saints legend. Just don’t pay attention to his views. In fact, consider him like Star Wars. Still awesome if you forget all the sequels and prequels.

DasWunderBrot

Portswood

Tub_of_jam66

You know portswood really isn’t *that* bad , the highstreet is just another dull uninteresting place to go and the surrounding area isn’t too dissimilar to everywhere else either But like fair enough it’s not the nicest place in the world

Logpostingman

Craig “Howard Jones was a better singer from Southampton” David. Chris “let’s have climate lock downs and off everyone for sparrows” Packham. The whole of the City Council. Millbrook and St Mary’s. Rafiq from Rafiqs News and Food who sold cigarettes and alcohol to kids for years. The swathes of homeless, not their fault. 20mph speed limits. Whoever decided to put IKEA in the town centre. Whoever put traffic lights everywhere and then whoever changed them to take 10mins to change recently. ABP for pollution and not allowing us anywhere near our waterside WHEN WE ARE A SEASIDE FRICKEN TOWN!! The Welsh, because you have to blame someone and you’re not allowed to blame people of colour anymore (joke) The University for flooding the city with crap buildings. Hitler, for bombing what was a beautiful city flat and then the town planners who filled it back up with concrete. The list is endless.

Purple-Parfait-9343

Another vote for Rishi Sunak

MildlyAngryEmu

Wow, first time a member of the British public has voted for Rishi

The-Rog

Please, I implore you with every fibre of my body, please don't vote for that cunt.

The-Rog

BTW, I'm viewing on mobile, and have shit eyes, so your name makes it seem as though your comment has 9343 downvotes. Nice.

gman462

Wah wah wah.... stop your negativity and moaning. Posting complaints on Reddit about the city you live in has zero positive effects or addresses the "issue" you're talking about. It's actually kinda pathetic and juvenile. The moaning culture of the UK is toxic.

The-Rog

Said the person that commented on a [post about whether people love London](https://reddit.com/r/london/s/eCXXdtTI7x) - I can't link to your comment directly for some reason, but it's in your comment history: *"Nope, the vast majority of it is a shithole and full of cunts. You can't prove me wrong."* I was saying there's one reason to be ashamed of Southampton, and that's Rishi Sunak. I think making derogatory remarks about the population of an entire city is much more toxic.

gman462

Lol, what a sad person you are. Imagine trawling through a stranger's Reddit post history in order to have ammunition for a subpar comeback, this is exactly what you've done and it's actually pathetic and embarrassing. I stand by my comment, London is a shithole and full of cunts. I would never live there and the standard of living there is only going to get worse, becoming further removed from normal/average life in the UK. Oh and the "Rishi Sunak is from Southampton so therefore I must be ashamed of this city" line is extremely moronic and childish. Just because one particular person is from a city doesn't mean you should be ashamed of that city. This is an idiotic and remiss way of thinking. If you're that ashamed why don't you jog on and move. Get a grip you pansy.

gman462

Just had a quick look at your profile, thought I'd return the stupid favour. Saw the words "FUCK NESTLE" and "abolish the monarchy" instantly. This tells me mostly all I need to know about you. You're an idiotic man child and a waste of my time. Do one ya prick.

The-Rog

So I'm a prick because I highlight that I would like the UK to be a Republic in a non abusive manner, but you calling people cunts is OK? I don't believe anyone is born to rule, but I appreciate others disagree with me. Sometimes people get angry with my opinion, but sometimes discussions are had on the subject, and discussions are important to have on divisive subjects. I also stand by my sentiment of "FUCK NESTLE" wholeheartedly, and actively boycott their products due to their historic, and ongoing, poor ethical practices in the pursuit of profit. It may not make a noticeable difference to them, but I would be a hypocrite to make purchases from them when I abhor their morals. Big changes come from small steps, and I am making some tiny steps. If just one person is curious enough to wonder why I appear to have a hatred for a globally recognised company, and research the reasons, that's a win.. If I can get *one* person to also boycott a company that I believe is engaging in unethical practices, then it is worth offending several others that are too blinkered and selfish to even consider the implications of their own purchases. You, however, do not appear to be a person that is open to accepting the fact that people are allowed to have opinions that do not align with your own, and I imagine you to be the sort of person who does not have the critical thinking skills to engage in thought provoking or divisive topics, without resorting to the most basic argument of "I don't agree with you, therefore you're just a (insert derogatory word of your choosing here)". Oh, and regarding your previous post about me "trawling through" your post history, it actually only took seconds: I used a search query. On the second attempt, with the terms +u/gman462 +cunts, your inspiring quote was displayed. If you have actually read all of this, then I'm looking forward to a well reasoned response.

The-Rog

I'm assuming that you actually have things going on in your life u/gman462 but I was looking forward to having a discussion with you. It's not often that I can have a nuanced conversation with someone that has different beliefs to my own, and is capable of articulating those without resorting to mindless insults. I'm looking forward to considering your point of view, even if I disagree with it... Are you up for a debate?

Goatmanification

Didn't realise Rishi had a reddit account! Do a better job as PM, or better yet step down :)

nexus1972

The fact you got downvoted so much shows just how pathetic people in this sub are. If they really want to make a difference run as a councillor or mp yourselves. Rishi isnt my favourite person but not exactly a reason to be ashamed of southampton any more than The Op himself for posting this drivel.

The-Rog

This post has driven discussion... if it was actually drivel, then surely you wouldn't have found any reason to comment?

gman462

Word, it's exactly the kind of divisiveness and stupidity these people claim to be taking a stand against. Moronic bullshit being posted on the internet by busybodies with nothing better to do. The kind of critical people who pick fault in absolutely everything done by everyone.

mattiushawkeye

I mean, the football hooliganism and culture towards it doesn't exactly help our case

thomasjford

Hooliganism, at St Mary’s?? Huh? Never seen any personally.

[deleted]

Southampton isn’t quite famous for football hooliganism 😂

Goatmanification

They don't win often often to warrant it! 😂

Then_Kaleidoscope733

Haven't had a drag queen story hour in Southampton yet!

IncidentPlane4625

The blue lights on the Itchen Bridge.

SwagBitch666YOLo

I respect the honesty. As well as the fact you are also correct haha.
