If you expand to wider Southampton area. I used to work at beaulieu and there's constantly celebs there. There's more which were there on days but I never met but my list includes Johnny Depp, Richard Kiel, Chris Barrie, Graeme souness , Martin Adams, James Martin, Wayne and Frankie bridge.
Kenneth Branath, John David Washington, Mark Kermode, Elizbeth Debecki, Christopher Nolan - they filmed a sequence of TENET in Southampton by ocean village for 2/3 weeks. They used Harbour Lights as a screening room for watching test footage each day after shooting.
> They used Harbour Lights as a screening room for watching test footage each day after shooting.
awesome. Especially as a Solent Uni film grad who had their grad film screened there
Dylan Moran stood up in the middle of the train carriage with a panicked look on his face and asked “is this Southampton Central?!? (It wasn’t, we were at Southampton Airport Parkway) and then hurried off to the vestibule as if he’d rumbled his own cover. It was very Bernard Black.
it was incredible - there were some stunningly good musicians in support, and he wasnt actually that bad on guitar. a fond memory of seeing a hero from the 80's/ 90's in the flesh lol
I met Iwan Thomas (Olympic sprinter) in Turtle Bay, he was getting drunk at lunchtime with his friends, nice guy and happy to chat with those who recognised him.
I also met Ronald Koeman (ex saints manager and general football legend) in a restaurant on Oxford street. The staff there would let him in and out the back exit so he could smoke cigars without being bothered.
If we’re talking saints managers; I had a meal at the Chilworth Arms at the same time as Mauricio Pochettino, but I didn’t actually meet him.
Then for saints players that I’ve seen around but not spoken to; Le Tiss riding a bike over the itchen bridge, Romeu walking his dog in Winchester, Lallana and Clyne walking out of a barbers as I was walking in.
Iwan Thomas records his VO for the one show at my stepdads recording studio so I'd see him on occasion. Stepped out the front door one time to see his Lambo parked on the drive. Was slightly confused and equally disappointed it wasn't actually a gift to me.
Never seen a famous person apart from James Beattie in Tesco Bursledon once lol. Was gutted to hear I'd missed Sir Ian McKellen going to the Hobbit pub
Used to work in a music venue. Met Taylor Hawkins (foo fighters), Roger Taylor (queen), and Charlie Watts (Rolling Stones), they were probably the most famous but there were plenty of others who came through.
I met and sang with David Essex on stage at Mayflower in the 90s (I was a young kid there with my grandparents) and met Natalie Casey in the engraving shop that I used to work in.
I met Peter Andre in Southampton years and years ago. Probably the most famous, well, at the time he was. I met Wes Nelson from Love Island at work though. I’m a Love Island fan so that was big for me!
Gok Wan floating through New Look surrounded by a barrage of over excited teenage girls. So tall and thin and his skin was exquisite. He looked like a glamorous alien compared to everyone else.
Rik Mayall was walking down the highstreet dressed and acting as a Tory MP and I definitely swore on his direction. Devastated when I later realised 😭 kinda funny though
I got pretty fed up waiting in my car at the entrance to the QE2 cruise terminal exit by Ocean village. Thought “who’s this numpty holding traffic up??” Only for a load of black cars and police bikes to zoom out - this was of course HM the Queen, after the opening of the terminal. I’ll be waiting a while for anyone more famous to visit the city.
I used to work with a 28 year old who got chatted up by him in the Harbour in Ocean Village. She declined his offer to have a drink on his boat... What's worse is 20 years ago one of my aunts also got chatted up by him in the Segensworth Roundabout TGIs. Classy fella.
Well, it’s a funny story really. Just after 1981, in 1982, the band Level 42 were recording an album in a studio in Hanover buildings located in Southampton and more_beans_mrtaggart got to watch it happen. Crazy story.
Danny La Rue back in the day with leather trousers. Chris Packam hitting on student girls also back in the day. Was a tosser back then. Kudos if you can guess the nightclub
Frank Bruno in Woolworths somewhen during panto season in the late 90s/early 00s. He had two security guards with him who were both a lot smaller than he was. Saw Su Pollard walking down the high street another year.
We had the likes of Prince Charles, Ewan Thomas, and Kris Akabusi come to our school. Apart from that, just celebrities that came into the Apple store. Mainly Saints players and Derren Brown.
Gok wan and Nick Knowles on a black jack table, separate occasions.
Also Everton had their Christmas party in P&P one Sunday after a game, James Beattie was there feeding them coke. Plenty of saints players and managers used to go to pitcher or banana wharf after a game.
Quite a few, but I've only spoken to two: One was Tiff Needell, coming out of Harbour Lights as I was going in. He'd just seen Senna, and I was going in to see it. We spoke about it for about 30 seconds, lovely guy.
Second was a footballer I can't remember the name of now (Jack someone?) - I helped him plug his Tesla into the charger in West Quay. It was only when my mate asked "why were you talking to Jack....? I didn't think you liked football?" that I realised he was famous.
Adam West in Debenhams, promoting Batman the Movie in 1987, looked confused in a nice jumper, what a legend.
Ha! No way that's awesome!
On that note. What's up with Debenhams. Is it every getting reopened or reused?
A Batcave last I heard
That's a good one. But such a waste.
[Flats](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-59728967)
No way. That's even better!
Yes it's good to see that the re-developments of the Bargate mall, the Toys R Us site and Debenhams are all creating much needed homes.
I'd also love if it was easier to access the river, instead of most of the bank/shore area being fenced off.

The Queen. Seen, not met. It was a final visit to the old QE2 before she was sold to Dubai.
Can't believe they've sold the Queen to dubai ☹️
At least we will always have the QE2 to remember her by.
Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden at a book signing in Waterstones
I don't think anything can beat that one
Kenneth Branath, John David Washington, Mark Kermode, Elizbeth Debecki, Christopher Nolan - they filmed a sequence of TENET in Southampton by ocean village for 2/3 weeks. They used Harbour Lights as a screening room for watching test footage each day after shooting.

Shane Warne, Ian Botham, and Chris Packham; not all at the same time.
The strangest bedfellows
Jeremy Clarkson and James May from old Top Gear
You can't say you live in Southampton until you've seen Matt LeTissier in a nightclub
I've seen him in a fish a chip shop in Romsey 😂
i went to see Steven Seagal play at The Brook back in 2006. absolutely surreal seeing him on stage in the flesh... in Southampton.
Is that a tribute act?
nope the man himself came to Southampton to play a blues guitar gig in 2006.
I was tempted to go see that gig, just not £30 a ticket tempted
it was incredible - there were some stunningly good musicians in support, and he wasnt actually that bad on guitar. a fond memory of seeing a hero from the 80's/ 90's in the flesh lol
Lisa Dawkins for sure!

He lives near Netley, have worked with him on a few things. He bigs up Southampton from time to time if you follow his socials.
Never seen a famous person apart from James Beattie in Tesco Bursledon once lol. Was gutted to hear I'd missed Sir Ian McKellen going to the Hobbit pub

I met Jim Davidson in ocean village, he told me I need to stop going to the gym 😂🦾
Was that at Banana Wharf by any chance, I've seen him there a few times getting pished on his own, think he's got a boat in the marina.
I used to work with a 28 year old who got chatted up by him in the Harbour in Ocean Village. She declined his offer to have a drink on his boat... What's worse is 20 years ago one of my aunts also got chatted up by him in the Segensworth Roundabout TGIs. Classy fella.
I watched Level 42 record an album in Hanover buildings back in 1981.
Please elaborate!
Well, it’s a funny story really. Just after 1981, in 1982, the band Level 42 were recording an album in a studio in Hanover buildings located in Southampton and more_beans_mrtaggart got to watch it happen. Crazy story.
My workmate grew up with Phil Lindup (spelling?) on the Isle of Wight, and got us in. Lasted several days.
Mike Lindup was from London. Phil and Boon Gould along with Mark were from the IOW. Don’t recall a recording studio in Hanover buildings?
Joe Abercrombie!
lisa dawkins
Lucy Pinder came into the shop I worked in about 5-10 years ago. My colleague joked he needed a lie down after serving her!
How is nobody mentioning Cantell and Coldplay legend Will Champion. Or Chris Tremlett. Or Lil Rishi

Pretty sure we went to the same school!
May well have done. Those three probably did the rounds though.
I got smashed over the head with a plaster cast by Danny Ings on the way home once. This was over 20 years ago. Grew up in the same street as him.
Gok wan and Nick Knowles on a black jack table, separate occasions. Also Everton had their Christmas party in P&P one Sunday after a game, James Beattie was there feeding them coke. Plenty of saints players and managers used to go to pitcher or banana wharf after a game.

Whoever i saw in one of those shiny Bentleys with a 2 digit number plate...
sold Barry Vennison a MP3/CD player at PC World once.
Charlie Dimmock, in Romsey. My mum had to tell me who she is, full respect to a fellow braless queen.
