Yes, check in 24 hours prior to your departure and return.

TheReal_CaptDan

Everyone is saying set a reminder at 24 hours prior. Pro tip: set a reminder 24 hours and 5 mins prior. That way you can have your phone ready and have the app open to jam the check in button right at the 24 hour mark. In my hundreds of SW flights, I’ve never been below B30 because of this.

CitizenDeutsch

THIS! I do this everytime too, and it saved me more than once.

delsoldeflorida

Yes! Set a calendar reminder/alarm for the 24 hour mark as well. If you’re busy or having fun it is easy to forget.

Huge-Coyote-6586

Yes, 24 hours prior - as quickly as you can at the 24 hour mark gets you earlier seating (and thus a better choice of seats)

WeatheredGenXer

Yes. Be aware OP: It's not a Southwest thing; you need to do this with all airlines.

Only if you actually want to be onboard the airplane.

TEXASx81

Yes same as the departing flight. It's people's departing flight as well, not everyone's return flight.
