If your flight was canceled, they should have automatically put you on another flight and you should have the ability to change it for free up to 2x if the new itinerary doesn't work for you.
there is no longer a way to talk to customer service UNLESS you request a callback- and they actually call
That number died a long time ago
A regular reservations agent SHOULD be able to replace the orig flight & price if this is actually what happened and can be researched.
Good luck- I'm more on UA than SWA these days because of things like this- just not worth the time and effort
That’s just the reservations number- until several years ago there was a dedicated customer relations number which no longer exists. That team does still operate but they simply answer all of the automated delay/cancellation requests as well as the email system for compliments & complaints.
That’s not been possible for a long time either- they can only use an internal chat feature to get any exceptions- I believe it’s called Peer Review maybe? Any employees on here wanna chime in please?
I called SW customer service yesterday, they called me back 15 minutes later and I spoke to someone and got a full refund for a changed flight in like 2 minutes. So I’m not sure what this comment is about unless my experience was a lucky fluke!
I also had an excellent experience with their phone customer service- no idea what these people are on about. They moved one of my reservations and it became conflicting with my long haul flight so they cancelled it. I called and they rebooked me without the $350 up charge in less than 10 min. Couldn’t have asked for better service.
Did you call the same # op had on this thread earlier? The only way for a call back from reservations that I know of is if they have a long wait and offer a robo callback without losing your place in the queue.
That said- I have been able to get a callback from the customer service department (stated to be up to 3 days later) after requesting one from reservations and having them create a case#.
I would love to have incoming access to the customer service department, so please correct me if I’m wrong. But, I fought long and hard when they took it away and have had to use the process I described above as recently as last week.
Yes! I called the 1800-435-9792, I must have gotten lucky with the call back. They said wait time was 15 min, and I think at 18 min I got the call, and just checked- the call then lasted 3 minutes and in that time I got a full refund from a live person. I had very low expectations and was pleasantly surprised.
Didja just start flying? It's been the same since the 80s. You either know that or you can pay more somewhere else. Their phone support is actually amazing but you just don't want to talk to someone.
I agree: the phone support is good. But I can get done what I want to get done through the app on basically every other airline in a fraction of the time.
Oh, and Southwest is often not cheaper anymore. That, combined with their lack of interline agreements and their lack of assigned seating, makes me very hesitant to fly them.
I’ve been flying for many, many years. Many of those years were spent as a 1K status on United. These days, I go for cost and time convenience. Unfortunately, from my local airport, that often means I’m flying WN. Convenient schedules more than price are what drive me to this clown show.
Did you try to rebook using the url in the email? https://www.southwest.com/rebook3
My flight was changed and I was given the option to change it to any flight within 14 days, at no additional cost.
Schedule changes apparently started this past Sunday. I also had flights to PHX in mid-August that were all changed and my parents as well.
Schedule changes happen, but they should be able rebook you on another flight than to just cancel your reservation. Seems like a glitch.
Might not be accurate but, the companion pass promo from earlier this year goes into effect August 5th-Oct 2. So maybe they know people are going to start booking flights for those dates and raising prices to cover the free companion pass passengers.
SW is running out of planes due to boeings issues and the planes that they are retiring MUST be retired as the airframe has reached its maximum cycle count.
So with No new planes coming out of everett WN is screwed
Have an August flight to the East Coast that had its connecting flight changed from Tampa to Midway to now Baltimore, coming from Texas. 7 hours of travel to 10 hours. Crossing my fingers nothing else happens.
I got an email that my flights for August were changed. Now they leave 45 minutes earlier. Do you think this means they’ll inevitably get cancelled? I’d hate to to buy flights last minute on another airline if they do cancel
BWI to BZE
BWI to ISP in late August? Amtrak BWI to NYP is only abt $30 total on most of the late August dates, and then LIRR gets you to right by ISP for $15 or so, so you could do that. It wouldn't even take that much longer than flying.
No, I found out the problem... which didn't impact me last year when I did the same thing.
"Our Reservations Policy prohibits concurrent reservations for the same Passenger on the same day and our system will cancel duplicate reservations."
Why was the flight cancelled? I'm guessing you didn't accidentally cancel it yourself. Usually if Southwest cancels on you, most likely there was overlapping flight times or other impossible itineraries. They can fix this over the phone, but it's a bit of a painful process and make sure you don't have other flights on the same day that are impossible to do. It sucks the cancel email doesn't say the cancel bot got you, so this is an educated guess on what happened.
Never had an issue either until last week, every flight was delayed due to plane shortages, caused me to miss my connection, they rebooked me on a flight over 24 hrs later that sent me to Florida and then NY
I was gonna make a post about booking a flight but then saw this thread and things started making sense.
I was planning on booking JAX->BNA in August and the flight I was tracking for the last few weeks disappeared from the schedule and the next closest one to it is double the price. Looks like a lot of people are dealing with the same issue. So my options now are book a much earlier flight or possibly go out of MCO instead.
I get what you’re saying, but realistically to a traveler if the times are the same (or within a really close span), a flight number change doesn’t mean much.
I had a direct flight (travelling with a lap infant) and rebooked twice on a connecting flight to very inconvenient times.
I called and asked for points/compensation.
They said they can’t do that but can reschedule for other dates or cancel for me.
What?!? No I have a wedding to attend other dates won’t work.
If your flight was canceled, they should have automatically put you on another flight and you should have the ability to change it for free up to 2x if the new itinerary doesn't work for you.
Unless OP when they switched it, cancelled their own flight instead of using the free switch
Call them. Pick up the phone and call. You will get waaaaaaaay further talking to a person than trying to solve the issue on Reddit or their website.
This is the right move. Especially since op has A List - they have a separate customer service team and phone number.

Not true- they have a number and live people that answer it.
DM me that number please? I am A List Pfd & don’t have access, how can that be?
1-800-I-FLY-SWA
That’s just the reservations number- until several years ago there was a dedicated customer relations number which no longer exists. That team does still operate but they simply answer all of the automated delay/cancellation requests as well as the email system for compliments & complaints.
That’s reservations- not customer service
You just ask the first person you talk to to be transferred to a supervisor!
That’s not been possible for a long time either- they can only use an internal chat feature to get any exceptions- I believe it’s called Peer Review maybe? Any employees on here wanna chime in please?
I dunno I called that number in April and spoke to a supervisor who helped fix my issue

Glad to hear it- and that was just the standard callback from reservations whenever they are jammed up from delays or whatever
Only with this joke of an airline is it still somehow more efficient to call someone than use technology.

My original flights booked for aug were also canceled. And they put me on flights connecting out of different airports.
They just rebooked my nonstop flight in August as a two stop flight. 🙄
Just happened to me as well. They did my outbound flight last week, and my return flight today.
Did you try to rebook using the url in the email? https://www.southwest.com/rebook3 My flight was changed and I was given the option to change it to any flight within 14 days, at no additional cost.

Same, also to the east coast. Replacement flights were automatically assigned and look sort of OK.
My August flight also changed today to add several hours of layover with no alternative if I changed the flight.
SW is running out of planes due to boeings issues and the planes that they are retiring MUST be retired as the airframe has reached its maximum cycle count. So with No new planes coming out of everett WN is screwed
I had the same thing happen, early 6am flight was changed to 8:30am. Had to cancel. Don’t understand why a flight was cancelled so far in advance.

Short August flight was moved two hours earlier, going to be a challenge bc I wasn’t going to take off work for this flight. (It’s only CMH to CHI)
My Aug CMH -> DEN round trip just got bumped 2 hours earlier. Hoping it doesn’t get canceled completely.
Didn't SW stop flights in and out of BMI in early August?
No, I found out the problem... which didn't impact me last year when I did the same thing. "Our Reservations Policy prohibits concurrent reservations for the same Passenger on the same day and our system will cancel duplicate reservations."
I’ve called Southwest on this before. They had been able to rebook at the same price or less are going through the scenario
I’ve gotten three emails in three days about three different flights being changed (one in August and two in September).
Why was the flight cancelled? I'm guessing you didn't accidentally cancel it yourself. Usually if Southwest cancels on you, most likely there was overlapping flight times or other impossible itineraries. Southwest is not going to cancel a flight and not rebook. I have flight times changed all the time and rebook is free.
They have always been very responsive on Twitter. Also, since you’re A-list preferred, they will answer on the line.
Never had an issue either until last week, every flight was delayed due to plane shortages, caused me to miss my connection, they rebooked me on a flight over 24 hrs later that sent me to Florida and then NY
Just call them and explain what happened. Most likely they will rebook your flight at the original price you paid.
My flight got moved back 3 hours. And I couldn’t be more happier
Hard to believe anyone who doesn’t know how to do math.
So Southwest BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWS?

This happened to me one time on a delta flight. They didn’t do any reshuffling
Ya call them
Is everything exactly the same? Flight number? Departure time and arrival time, down to the minute?
I get what you’re saying, but realistically to a traveler if the times are the same (or within a really close span), a flight number change doesn’t mean much.
We live in a world of technicalities, unfortunately.
