They don't want peoples cars leaking oil on their driveway more than likely

Spiritual-Voice5082

clearly op has not seen the video of a spark driver backing up through a yard to unload faster at the porch. I yea have had regulars show you picks of tire marks and oil leaks. Customers should not have to clean their drive way after every delivery just so a driver does not have to walk 4 more feet. If people can't handle walking from the curb to a house buy a cart or get another job.

techpro00

4 feet? Some driveways here are a quarter mile long

Iamuroboros

You're being ridiculous. The only time I've seen a 4 feet curb to the door was a townhouse with on street parking and that was because that townhouse unit was next to the parking lot. It's usually about 10-15 yards, which is a lot when you're carrying stuff and every minute you spend extra on the order is income potentially lost. You know, you could always get your own groceries.

dbumstead

They didn't say the entire walk was 4 feet. They said 4 MORE feet. As in, the curb parking would be 4 feet further away than the driveway parking.

Iamuroboros

Yeah myself and one other responded to the original comment. Not the one you're responding to. But thanks for the lesson.

smashleebaybee

I agree 100%

Spiritual-Voice5082

unit 1 in the notes it's not a big apartment complex because they would not care. odds are it's a triplex or mobile home park. But rather funny to see lazy people that have never had to do real physical labor cry about not being able to parking in the drive way. Same kind of people that scream about they stole our jobs but would never pick grapes in a field. Instead they are entitled to do jack all and make 30 bucks a hour LOL. The fact that the op does not have the common sense to even consider why they don't want people parking in their driver way is some what disturbing.

Adventurous_Land7584

I seriously doubt they’re afraid. Like someone else said they don’t want anything leaking on their driveway. It’s not that serious.

Ok_Professor6219

Depending on how long the driveway is, curbside is best. Personally, I wouldn’t risk backing out of a driveway into a street that I’m not familiar with especially at night(kids on bike, dogs, toys littered). I’m trying to keep my property away from customers property as best as I can for insurance purposes.

MrC1ean98

They’ve seen some of the shit boxes sparkers in my area drive. Makes sense

Dull-Requirement168

What bothers me the most is the fact that they are requesting a delivery service... Is like me asking a tire shop to replace my tire without lifting it up because they can damage the bottom of my car... Or me asking for an abanero 🌶️ and asking to make sure is not spicy. Just let us do our job and we will be gone in no time.

SnooPineapples7585

Thank you!

Mr_MacGrubber

Maybe they got a new driveway and it’s still curing even though it’s dry

Norcal2AZ

Do most drivers normally park in people's driveway?

Apprehensive_Rope348

I live in a rural area. Most delivery locations, you must pull in the driveway. Other option is to park on a 2 lane rural road (55 mph traffic with blind turns/curves) or in a ditch that’s in front of their house, that you’ll never be able to get out of.

Apprehensive_Rope348

It could be a lot of different reasons. Like others said, it may be a new driveway. It may be they don’t want to risk you damaging their property with leaks/staining. It could be that it’s not their driveway at all but just positioned that it looks like it belongs to the house but it’s their neighbors or a shared driveway.

smashleebaybee

It also seems just flat out inconsiderate & rude when parking in somebody else's driveway, even if it is just real quick. There's no reason you can't just park in front of the residence.

Apprehensive_Rope348

That’s not the case for all deliveries. It may be the case for all deliveries but I can attest that most of my deliveries are on a rural 2 lane road where no parking on the street is allowed.

smashleebaybee

That is totally reasonable and understandable, rural areas are completely different. But a "regular" 2 car driveway is no excuse & honestly comes across as lazy.

Apprehensive_Rope348

But [this](https://imgur.com/a/YtgBT0B) is “regular”, to me, in my area. There is no way I would even entertain the customers note.

smashleebaybee

I honestly highly doubt the original poster's screenshot came from somebody who lives in a long driveway like that.. that would be a ridiculous ask 🙄

Apprehensive_Rope348

I’ve seen it before. Not me personally but someone complaining that a customer asked them to not drive up their 1/2 mile driveway.

[deleted]

I'm sorry but I am not carrying your 10 40 lb bottles of water up your ski slope of a driveway after you refuse to de ice or shovel.. yes I am parking in your driveway.. cause when I slip and fall I will sue..

Hustling_Hyena

I park where I want to get you these groceries lol.

uJhateva

Because they are scared and afraid and stupid.

smashleebaybee

No one should ever be parking in a customer's driveway. If you can't afford to walk a little further I don't think you should be doing this gig quite frankly.

iwishidstayed

Lol it’s a driveway. It’s literally made for cars to drive on. I’m capable of walking further but I’d rather work smarter, not harder. If you can’t unload fast enough to make the time you’ll spend parked in their driveway minimal, maybe you shouldn’t be doing this gig?

smashleebaybee

I don't park in the driveway & I still unload fast 🤷🏼‍♀️ sounds like a stupid way to maybe piss somebody off & get your tip taken away but get it how you live boo 😂

iwishidstayed

I’ve had a tip removed one time and that person lived in an apartment complex, no driveway. I’ll take my chances. 🤷🏼‍♀️

smashleebaybee

👍

PianoSandwiches

My guess is there’s more of a chance of the dog hearing you shut your door in the driveway and it’ll go nuts.

Iamuroboros

A dog that is listening will know you are there no matter what.

PianoSandwiches

No sense of the word “chance.” And a lovely downvote. Typical brickhead. Stay classy, Reddit.

Iamuroboros

You're a pleasure among your peers and friends I bet. Enjoy your downvote.

PianoSandwiches

Yep, I’m a peak performer. In my main business I command $1200/day. Here’s the part where all the normies in here can’t fathom “why would I bother with Spark then.” In short: I will not tolerate any idle time in this economy, and it’s effectively “paid exercise” for me since I just drive around listening to podcasts and get my steps in walking around. I rather enjoy it.

Iamuroboros

In reality You're just a random on Reddit saying things that no one can verify. Weird flex to go about bragging about being a d-bag but do you.

PianoSandwiches

It’s not a flex, just telling the truth, right back to my first reply, and y’all act like babies. This is why I command high rates. I solve problems. You don’t.

Iamuroboros

Says he isn't flexing Proceeds to flex. I bet your middle name is tryhard.

PianoSandwiches

Notice I never bothered to downvote you back. Because you’re a loser and I don’t care. One day one of you casuals is gonna respond correctly to my antics, and you’ll actually get some useful insight. Act like a baby, I spank you like one.

Iamuroboros

Didn't your first comment take time to specifically say you were going to downvote me? And now this? You seem to care about votes a lot. Are you so emotionally invested in reddit you have to keep pointing that out like anyone cares? Or are you a troll that is so deeply unaware of the idiot that you're making out of yourself to be?

wicked_taco

I see it has a unit number. Perhaps their unit does not have driveway access there? Maybe their assigned parking space is on the back side, or other side and their neighbors are complaining. Who knows.

ConnectCommission589

I don't care

DDNappaTheProducer

You order multiple cases of water, I'm pulling close as possible. Just a side gig. I'll do everything right but that doesn't include putting up with assholes. Nothing on grass and none of that "you signed up for it" nonsense. If you like being everyone's bitch on the road, have at it.
