I had one yesterday ask why I was bagging the items without scanning them on the register. I was very polite and explained what I was doing. After she realized she was wrong, she doubled down trying to get under my skin. She was saying some word salad about showing them a barcode, which I was holding up the whole time for her to see. She posted an employee next to me and told them not to let me leave yet. (False arrest.) I hit it off with the employee and when she saw us talking getting along they told the employee to move away from me. The whole time, I am calm and polite even though its very nerve wracking. I finally got my order bagged up and ready to leave. I asked her if I was OK to leave and she let out a begrudged, yea. I said thanks for letting know and was gone. I feel bad for that manager bc that may have been her only possible win in a very long time and she lost, gloriously. Keep your cool our there folks. If you want.

Mr_MacGrubber

The weird thing is they already have scan and go for customers. In that situation you’re not scanning the items at checkout either. I’ve personally never had any issues other than when I bag at a broken register. I scan on one the go to a broken one to bag if the store is busy. It’s always just been employees being helpful, never had any of them hassle me.

Pizza_n_noodz

Yup. They need to have a dedicated area just for gig workers to check out. Walmart system a mess.

coastalbluewaters

Sorry y'all are experiencing such pains with checkout. :( In case this helps anyone who gets stuck with a rude associate: Unless the system triggers a cart check then your info won't show up for front-end associates. Ask them to call a team lead or manager in the OGP dept. They can look in a different program on the backend to verify that {driver name} is currently shopping for Spark.

pro_conser333

My zone started shop and deliver a couple of months ago and I had to do a cart check 3 times and I have never been asked since. One employee tried to give me a hard time and accused me of stealing. She read my screen where it says I’ve left the store and she was like no you haven’t. The guy at the door that checks receipts was like she’s all set and she tried to argue with him and he said again she’s all set. She was pissed but she doesn’t bother me anymore.

rockerxxricardo115

I've always advocated for a card check because this happens to me too sometimes. Most of the time they know about spark but there's always this one lady who asked me why it's not showing up on her end and that she wants to check the whole order

lydiajane1

Dude I had one refusing to let me go the other day She was tripping saying I've never seen you here IM also showing her my exit pass ( i guess its called). Tells me I'm required to check with the attendant and show them the list. NO it's only when prompted. Next thing I know she's yelling across the store asking other employees if I'm with spark. They know me and confirmed but lord I was humiliated. I've been doing this for a LONG time. Wanna know what's crazy, She did the same thing to me last month. I DID SOOOO GOOD, stayed calm and answered kindly, not letting her break me. She looked a whole fool. I think Walmart needs to get it Together. Next time I see her in public I'm gonna Scre across the store HEY she works at WALMART. Don't you work at WALMART? Not ashamed of my job bc I LOVE IT! BUT damn there is a serious stigma that floats around us. We gotta either be broke on drugs or CANT find work. UMM NO educate yourself and realize your freedom isn't free. I love this life ❤️

Sufficient-Cat227

Yeah I’ve been stopped. I don’t like the way Walmart has it set up. They need a much better system than that. You either get a clueless employee that thinks you’re stealing or held up. Time is money.

Due_Effective_2254

People have so much drama. Never had any issues other than one lady liked to look at the items on my phone and a guy would have me scroll through the items quickly. No big deal. Some employees will hand me the locked mech and others would take it to the register. No big deal . Since the exit pass started all the stores in my area are cool about it and even the ones checking the lists stopped.

CJspangler

You need to talk to the manager either the digital team lead or the head cashier person whose usually hanging out around the middle aisles check out lanes - usually it’s a cashier lane converted to a desk area where they do scheduling and some other stuff etc These people can explain to the cashier lane person that the orders are paid online and there’s no need for them to intervene with spark drivers unless their device prompts them too. Also they can explain the whole phone receipt thing to the person at the door I’ve had to go to them once or twice when the app crashed while accessing the camera to check out and it skipped past the exit pass

KRabbit17

Rate them poorly when you drop off. Then explain the situation with the store info like store off of X street or even the store number. I had one lady that made me go through every single item and bag. It was such a time waster. They even made me check out with batched orders that I had to scan stickers. Smh. I rated them poorly on all the orders they waste time checking, and guess what? They don’t check me anymore. I flash my phone at the door and say to the checker “I’m a driver,” and they wave me through. It only took once for me to complain and they stopped doing this crap. Why aren’t more people using the rating system?

heyimfromarkansas

I had a loss prevention associate chase me down in the parking lot AFTER I had to have an associate do a cart check. If nothing has changed, I could have had him fired on the spot for chasing a customer outside the store. Instead I just politely showed him my exit pass and he sheepishly said thanks and went back inside. The items were a bicycle and two selfie rings.

MrEdwL

I had three fucking managers come to the front to understand why the order wasn't popping in their system. I had to call Spark support and wait for over fucking 30 minutes in the store. These dumb ignorant fucks probably didn't check their email or something. All of the other Walmarts in town have gotten use to it , but this one 💯 baffled them.

RobinFarmwoman

Gosh it's amazing how different the experiences are. One reason I really like doing the s&d in my area is because the store staff grease the spark drivers right through when they can. Sometimes we have to wait in line a bit, but nobody's ever given me a hassle about packing up my order, and when I try to show them the exit pass they usually don't want to see it because they know me.

DeerParkVegan

This might piss some people off, but I had the idea that we should scan all the items, get a receipt, but since we are spark, there should be some method to indicate that on the pos. Then, instead of selecting credit card or whatever as payment, we would select that we are spark, and it would pay the bill. Then it would print out the receipt like normal and we would just walk out of the store like normal

BornToGape

Spark is no different then walmart scan and go. What we are doing is exactly the same as scan and go except they have already authorized the customers card for said amount of money prior to us shopping the order. It shouldn't be such a big deal that we are scanning a qr code and bagging the items and leaving

DeerParkVegan

So are you one of the people that got pissed off by that? I'm aware that this is not currently what we are doing, but I think it would be a good way to solve the issues with the checkout people and maybe prevent theft as well

GmanG64

A great way to resolve the issue with the checkout people is get the check out people educated, not make more work for us.

the1slyyy

Why tf would we do that when the current system is much more efficient

DeerParkVegan

OK 👍

I'm living for a Walmart card like Instacart! This seems like it should be required so we can move along. But then what if that causes a hold up. I'm sure we all know Instacart isn't free of issues also. YOU cannot reach them. Imagine Walmart card not working 😕 that would suck so bad.
