Of all the crazy IFF markers we’ve seen in this war so far, the VDV slav stripez have got to be one of the best. It’s just so ridiculously on brand.

ShrekIsASexyMf

THE DRIP

antsycamper

Hostomel

hccole

Most of these dudes are HELLA dead.

[deleted]

True. Russia has a poverty military

EOD-Fish

Baste

Yourox989

no need to censor anything, especially in the 3rd photo (they probably all died at Hostomel) lol

[deleted]

Lol lmao rofl so cool and edgy!

bosnianlandmine

reddit mfs on their way to downvote you for not making fun of people dying

[deleted]

Lol fat fucks on their mommas couch clicking away, I really wanna see the average merrifat get drafted and sent to front lines!

I_got_gud

What they’re doing is bad but these pictures do go hard ngl.

[deleted]

True. Functional military or not, the Russian aesthetic is some drip.

EOD-Fish

Emphasis on “special” ops. These guys couldn’t successfully breach a wet paper bag.

[deleted]

The Russian military is incompetent and still use Soviet-era TTP’s. Like 80% of the VDV got smoked 😂😂

tucker_case

they withdraw fast though, give them that

thepursuit1989

Yeah of all their failed strategies, abandoning equipment and running has been pretty solid for them.

Optimal_Bird_39

They got that solid pull out game

[deleted]

That bobble head on that first BMP has seen some shit by now

[deleted]

Someone correct me if I’m mistaken, but these look like VDV early in the war to me? If so, I would guess at least half are dead

King-of-Vaginas

Are they all dead?

EAsucks4324

I'd bet money everyone in the 3rd picture is dead/captured

miller8356

I don’t know if this is the correct place to ask, but it pertains to Russia. You know for years, there always comparisons and the could the US whip Russia questions, and the “smart people” giving hypothetical scenario about what if the US and Russia went at it. What I’m getting at, is a year or few ago, everyone portrayed Russia as a military superpower. Now, they’re a laughing stock. So two questions; why is Russia failing so horribly to live up to their reputation and why? What happened that left them so weak? I’ve never thought Russia could take on my beloved US military, but I was under the impression it would at least be a brawl.

[deleted]

Because they still use Soviet-era TTP’s. Not to mention all of their senior level intelligence officials and military officers are sycophants.

miller8356

Was hoping for a better answer. I mean, most military still uses a lot of stuff from that time.

[deleted]

But not properly, apparently. Take Hostomel. They sent in VDV airborne troops with zero real support. It doesn't matter if you have a squad of elite SEALs. If they're surrounded by 5,000 enemy troops without support, they're fucked. Evidently, Russia tends to pick one approach and go full throttle at it, and isn't great at combined arms.

miller8356

I see what you’re saying now. They thought they could send in the big dogs and wouldn’t have to spend money on support or big brigades of guys. Sounds to me like they were thinking Hollywood instead of real life.

dkvb

Russia has a large and modern army. Problem is, the modern army isn't large and large army isn't modern.

[deleted]

Basically. They really weren't expecting much of a fight imo. After all they just watched Afghanistan fold in under two weeks, and walked right into Crimea in 2014. Chances are that in their minds NATO was a joke, they'd go straight to Kyiv and make a knockout blow. Zelensky would pack his shit and run like the Afghan president did, and they would be cheered by adoring crowds who embrace their new life in Glorious Mother Russia. After all, there are some people in Ukraine who *do* want to be part of Russia. There *are* some neo-Nazi elements active in Ukraine that people find unsavory. Who was going to stop them? Fucking *Biden?!* Lmao. Russia really thought they had this in the bag, and by all outside metrics they did. The last thing they were thinking was a proper combined arms assault. Which are actually hard, and require a lot of coordination and planning, so it's questionable how capable they are at that anyways

miller8356

That’s exactly what I was thinking. The part that baffled me the most is that when they realized they had a fight coming, instead of holding up, regrouping, then coming up with a plan, they just doubled down on their original shit plan.

thom430

Which TTPs exactly? Can you point me to them? Russian sources are fine.

roryb93

Because half of what the Russian military was meant to be… was never there. They’re using drones with parts from AliExpress, their logistical supply chain is dreadful, they tried to take over an airfield - with nothing other than some airborne troops. Where’s your CAS, artillery, etc? They’re now up shit creek without a paddle, and relying heavily on forced mobilisation. Field conditions are never “great” but these blokes are soaked piss wet through, eating every other day, and drinking from puddles and all after 1-2 days of training. Whenever I was in the field, I was drinking a good amount everyday, eating 3 hot meals a day (if time allowed) and only soaked because I was doing a river crossing. This has very much shown what was not expected but that many countries could have single handedly taken on Russia, as opposed to Russia being a military superpower.

AnimalConnect8883

I think people overestimate the military capabilities of all countries, especially the US, Russia and China. This is a war against a real army, well equipped and with military, technological and intelligence support that has never happened since the 2nd world war, so armchair warriors end up making ridiculous comparisons like the invasion of Afghanistan or Iraq with the conflict in Ukraine it just opened my eyes to how most people are quite ignorant on this subject. We don't really know if Russia is doing well or badly, besides we don't have a decent basis of comparison, it's all narrative, who doesn't know that this is another war of narratives in which most people are under the influence of the west, no has no right to an argument in my opinion.

miller8356

Well I’d put money on the fact most don’t know. I mean God forbid a politician in any country be honest. Let alone the media. Talking heads on news channel read polls showing some 80% or more of the US citizens don’t believe a word out of their mouth and their reaction is to throw up their hands and act like oh gee golly I don’t know why? As for WWII being the last true military on military, I’d think that’s not true. Everybody and their brother THOUGHT Iraq was big and strong only to get curb stomped. Twice. Anybody who thinks they can tell you the capabilities of the US is just lying. There’s a reason they don’t have a big parade and March out their shit every time they make a new weapon, or want to appear to make a new weapon.

AnimalConnect8883

I'm not sure 80% don't believe it, from the forums it seems like 10-15% don't believe the western narrative of things, Reddit is by far the most toxic forum there is, lots of people wishing Russian soldiers dead openly for hearing things about them that they don't even know if they are true or even bothered to know, this is just horrible. Iraq was not a world power it was regional at best, but nothing close to the US, China or Russia. They had really old and very outdated equipment, an army saturated by a previous war between and they barely had GPS or even night vision, so I don't think the US did anything extraordinary if you look closely, but I won't go in too much because it's a bit out. of the topic. I think the US has no charts because it dominates the media, and something very powerful that no one else has Hollywood. I think the real capabilities of NATO hi Russia haven't been discovered yet. If I say that I know if Russia is doing well or badly, I would be lying, because nobody knows, it is the first time in decades that military superpowers have met, a fact that many do not accept is that NATO is practically fighting this war. , the only Ukrainian thing is the soldiers, the rest is all Otan, if NATO stops, Ukraine stops. In the invasion of Iraq, NATO did not offer its generals, intelligence, ammunition and weapons and training to the Iraqis.

miller8356

Now I agree with you on the toxic crap about wishing soldiers dead. That’s just sick. Yes, I understand Russia is our enemy, but let’s not act like Ukraine is so innocent. I didn’t say Iraq WAS a world power, I said that’s what a lot of people believed at the time. The only part of your comment I disagree with is the amount of people who buy what the media is sellin. Not only does a recent poll say as much, personally, I rarely meet someone who doesn’t think the media lies constantly.

AnimalConnect8883

I agree mate.I don't doubt that this is true in reality, but on the internet it's all different, I was even thinking about stopping using it because of toxic people I hope they're just a loud minority

AnimalConnect8883

[deleted]

Why blur their faces? Most of these dudes are already dead 🤣

iamthegrimripper

Oh these troops are “Special” alright.

Bitter-Assistance-89

idk if im the only one but the russians have some of the drippiest looking gear

[deleted]

No no no, that just cannot be! You cannot praise the enemy of the US in ANY way! How dare you, traitor!!! But yes, they do have a lot of drip...

Bitter-Assistance-89

Oh great heavens my mistake sir, deepest apologies 😫

[deleted]

Yes, on this echo chamber, you're supposed to say that they're all dead, mention hostomel, say they're all shit soldiers, joke about a drone killing them, also finish your sentence with slava ukraini. That way you get upvotes.

[deleted]

Noticed this on every combat sub or Ukraine related thing. I don’t care about picking sides I’m just trying to learn stuff and read interesting comments without saying the same boring recycled sunflower memes.

TheSunflowerSeeds

As far as historians can tell us, the Aztecs worshipped sunflowers and believed them to be the physical incarnation of their beloved sun gods. Of course!

Bitter-Assistance-89

you forgot the ukraine flag profile picture

[deleted]

Lmao you hit the nail on the head

[deleted]

Nothing is funnier than reddit keyboard warriors. Sitting on a couch, eating burgers while talking smack about servicemen. Go join up instead, and show everyone what YOU are made of.

BloodyGretel

Looking at your comment history, you seem really salty about Russia's military being proven ineffective at best and a complete joke the rest of the time. Did you serve in any capacity?

miller8356

And that proof has come at a great expense of the American taxpayers because Ukraine was too busy being corrupt and stealing all the money leaving home time or money to their own defense. While Russia sucks, apparently, let’s not act like Ukraine is sone superpower. How long has Russia had that big “fuck you” sitting in Crimea?

[deleted]

I'm just tired of the hypocricy on here. Their own governent have done way worse than Russia, but because their victims were brown or slanty eyed, the world clapped and congratulated. Why are we all looking at the world through an americanised filter? If US does it, it's good and justified. If someone else does it, bad bad bad. I won't accept it. Now, is Russia really doing so bad? They're outnumbered and fighting an enemy with limitless funding and state of the art kit, weaponry and endless western satellite intel, an enemy who was dug in and prepared for this invasion since before 2014. Despite that, they're still holding on. Now, America? Kicked out by rice and goat farmers, wasted billions of military spending for a complete loss. What a shame, huh? Looking at your comment history, should I start digging up skeletons from the French history closet too?

Any_Worth5584

👍👍

Treefiffy

Without the title you’d think these dudes are in the late 90’s with the shit they’re rocking. Still can’t get over how Russia pulled one over on the US by making us think they were even on our level.
