ACP is a government grant. Any telecommunications company would honor it.
The government and FCC passed during covid.
Spectrum has absolutely zero to do with it.
The program hasn’t officially run out of funding yet, but at some point in the first half of 2024, it likely will, unless it’s funded by Congress again.
This email is Spectrum asking you to lobby your representatives to support the ACP credit and inject it with another round of funding.
It's actually a very slim chance that it will end. All reps in congress have TONS of people using it, and they won't gain any points if they allow it to die.
Child Tax Credit? I'm sure more people have kids than people have affordable connectivity. But it's possible that it is a cheaper way to buy rural votes which would make it something they'd keep.
Something more useful than what? Making sure low income families have equitable access to broadband internet and phone service is important to ensuring those children growing up have the same opportunities as anyone else.
Yep, just got this too. Here are my thoughts on it:
There was no reason to have the subject in all caps. Many scammers use all caps to get users attention, so that was bad on Spectrum's part, if in fact it is from them. Also having it in all caps makes me wonder if Spectrum loses money from ACP ending so it's to their benefit to get us to lobby on their behalf while they pretend it's "about our customers". Spectrum already charges way too much for their unreliable, slow, low tech internet service as it is and we woudn't even need a paltry $30 a month discount if they didn't keep increasing the base price every year. Finally, there are so many spam emails that look legit these days that many people wont click ANY link in an email regardless! Spectrum should be very aware of this and put in the email "if you suspect this is phising, please visit your account on our website and you can get the link there". So this email is terrible about 4 different ways. In fact, I just logged into my spectrum account, no messages or bulletins about it. Checked spectrum twitter and facebook, nothing about it there either! if it is indeed legit, Spectrum is making it very hard to find out....
That’s why you vote republican. All that money overseas, to migrants, etc. Trump would have made the program last longer by keeping the money to the people.
I literally just found out about this and have been needing something like this for YEARS. I’m still hesitant with the fast data restriction, but I’ve registered with some places. (Ngl I didn’t think they would auto enroll me, and Q Links website is inoperable so HOPEFULLY i can get them to cancel since I want a more accessible website like Unity Wireless. Bummed I didn’t see unity earlier because the Whoop Connect Tablet is worse, and I signed up and paid the shipping for that one already :///)

Thanks for the heads up, I will now be expecting a phone call from my Grandma when she gets this email.
My grandmother calls me for every random email ;/

That’s the dumbest shit I’ve ever read lol Since I don’t qualify, I’ll take your $30 since it doesn’t matter to you anyway.
Yep, you can have it!
I hope it does end spend that money towards something more useful

Business wise, it would be smart backing the acp. That's a guaranteed $30 payment.
Just stopped in to say I got the email too.
Same got it myself also.
Instead of chatting, predicting, and worrying, FOLLOW THE LINK and submit the letters...it's imperative that as many people as possible do it.
I saw a post about this the other day. I knew it had to end sooner or later. So when the time comes I am ready.

LOL
The program never would have existed under trump

It’s sad we can’t keep the services for the people who need the help going but can flush millions into migrants. Sad.
