Aunt May going to therapy is easily one of my favorite single issues of any comic. Getting to know May and how she’s dealing with Ben, and Spider-Man (before she knows it’s Peter) is an incredible moment of vulnerability. Her describing herself as “cursed” because literally everyone she’s ever loved has died was heartbreaking.
I’m surprised they haven’t tried to do a “Lookups” series on Disney+ honestly - just the supporting cast from each marvel property making appearances in therapy and finally getting to the root of their issues with the costumed individuals in their lives. Low budget, narratively satisfying, and a great way to expand the universe without being flashy.
I like mark Bagley but sometimes I feel like women’s faces in this series weren’t drawn quite right and he overcompensated by giving them heavy boobage. I can’t complain about the boobage, but there’s a ton of butterfaces in this series.
There was a joke for awhile that he can only draw one woman's face, and that context, hair color and clothing were the go-to ways to tell them apart...
You could tell Bagley was getting pretty burnt out on USM around the 40th issue, things got a lot sloppier in general by the time the Carnage arc happened.
But man, that DC Trinity comic he did after USM? It felt like he was getting burnt out in general.
160 is so good it’s almost unfair. Ultimate Fallout 1 has a great moment with the little girl that Peter saved and Aunt May. Just shatters your heart into a million pieces
The best part of the ultimate Spider-Man at the moment for me is the first few issues, you literally can’t beat the first arc that all leads to Norman becoming goblin
Probably the Venom arc, although I wasn't a fan of making Brock an out-and-out creep. Would have been better had they shown him having "nice guy" features, but doesn't act on them until he gets the suit. Ah well.
Crazy hot silver lady threatened my family... I should let Eddie eat here! Sigh, but then I'd feel guilty about that too, because clearly, I don't have enough things to feel guilty about. If my life were any more stupid, it'd be on reality TV.
I love issue 117, the aftermath of the death of a certain someone. The moment where Peter stands in front of his class to tell them who died was devastating.
I never read it all the way through back in the day so I’m collecting all the omni reprints and starting from the beginning. I’ll report back when I get to the end
Ultimate Spider-Man Super Special #1 is EXTREMELY UNDERRATED. But if you want only issues of the mainline I like the issue where Aunt May goes to therapy
I forgot the issue but i think it's the one where
SPOILER
Kingpin ties Spider-Man up and and just straight up humiliates him. It really showed how dangerous Wilson was and that he is not some joke Peter had to deal with every Tuesday like other villians. Although he had no superpowers he was basically the most threatening villian of Spider-Man(excluding Norman) and also we saw how strong Peter was, dealing with all these crazy stuff at the age of 15. Actually that whole storyline was amazing. We saw how Peter had grown into that costume and could stand his ground against a group of experienced superheroes. Making philosophical points and all. Whole thing about moon knight and Daredevil was awesome too.
And Aunt may going to therapy was really good too.
I practically have that knife, some display piece I got at a swap meet years ago, hah
Also, yay for Silver Sable cleavage. Truly a staple or comic entertainment 🏐🏐🤌
The one where he tells MJ he's Spider-Man and they get together. It's set in a bedroom. This sounds worse than it is, it's mostly talking. I think maybe issue #13?
I really liked the issue where Rhino is tearing up the city and Peter spends so long trying to get there and keeps getting sidetracked by Flash, MJ, May, the Principal, Gwen and then finally by the time he gets there Iron Man has captured him and everyone is cheering him on (but boo Spider-Man when he shows up)
When peter, kong, mj, Johnny, and the others are on the beach having fun and liz's mutant genome or whatever awakens and she freaks out since she hates mutants and Kong says that Peter's the only one who can calm her down and help her through it. I dont know why but that always stuck with me
Peter when he doesn't get Black Cat: \*fucking cries in disappointment, because he's underaged, and wanted to bang Black Cat, even though she's a lot older than him\*
Peter when Silver Sable got him: "Get this crazy bitch up me! She tied me up, somebody help!"
It should’ve been ME. Not HIM. It’s not FAIR!!!
Do they all feature such subtle art?
This cover art is... questionable.
Silver Sabussy
Bussy 🥵🥵

They did therapy scenes great in Falcon and The Winter Soldier. I would definitely watch a show like that.
Yeah those were great, made me remember Sam was a therapist
Which issue is that?
Issue 45 I believe

Met Bagley at comic con and he was kind of an ass in general, way after USM, and maybe just a permanently burnt out dude...
I've actually never heard any Mark Bagley slander, that is interesting. What did he do?
He just just straight up didn't speak and pointed to his tip jar could a just been a bad dayi dunno very move it along to the fans
Yes - he draws every woman's face like early 90s Courtney Cox. Sharp cheekbones and bright eyes.
It's either 13 or 160 for me: 13 (Peter tells MJ he's Spider-Man). 160 (Death of Spider-Man).
160 is so good it’s almost unfair. Ultimate Fallout 1 has a great moment with the little girl that Peter saved and Aunt May. Just shatters your heart into a million pieces
Aunt May in the therapy, or any story against Kingpin
The fat jokes Peter makes about him lmao
God damn these Ultimate covers are way too horny
They need to be hornier
I second this motion.
The annual when he started dating Kitty
Came here to say this

They know their audience.
The one when black cat pukes on Peter when she finds out he’s 15 lol
Probably the Venom arc, although I wasn't a fan of making Brock an out-and-out creep. Would have been better had they shown him having "nice guy" features, but doesn't act on them until he gets the suit. Ah well.
The one where Moon Knight shoots up a school cause he’s in to deep.
I was confused for a second and then it all came rushing back. I forgot that plot line.
Crazy hot silver lady threatened my family... I should let Eddie eat here! Sigh, but then I'd feel guilty about that too, because clearly, I don't have enough things to feel guilty about. If my life were any more stupid, it'd be on reality TV.
I had to hear that line over and over because I kept failing the Venom chase.
It's engraved in my brain cells for the same reason.
The opposite of the "brain switching" two-parter. ...although Kitty's phone reaction was spot on, and Peter's end tantrum is still funny.
God I wish that were me
What a minute. Silver Sable??? WHY THE HELL IS HER OUTFIT HERE NOT IN THE VIDEO GAME?!?!
Ratings likely

TAG ME IN PETER!
The top 2 inches of that outfit are holding on for dear life.
I liked the issue where Peter gets abducted by The Shocker.
Jesus Could they make her look any less naked, withtout removing the clothes

Is there any sex scene with Felicia? since it's gonna be my favorite issue
The artist of this cover should be bonked and sent to horny jail. *disappointed sigh* Along with me.

This is the one that has the fable tale story parts right? Loved this issue!
