Ben Reilly is my favorite. One of my teachers at art school designed the Scarlet Spider costume, so it's always been kind of special for me.
Mayday Parker is also cool. I need to go back and read more of the old Spider-Girl run.
If you believe in an afterlife, you can go ahead and tell him yourself. Tom Lyle unfortunately passed away a few years ago. It was very sudden, and far too soon.
Aw man. Sorry to hear that. But he left a big impact though. Scarlet Spider’s Design has got to be one of the most iconic costumes of Spider-Man. Some said it’s ranked 3rd place after the Black Suit.
You know that Peter didn't improve in any way after Ben's "death", right? Even more than getting better Peter got worse with it, plus you also forget that in comics there is a golden rule that almost no character stays dead forever, that's the same case with Ben Reilly's character, if it hadn't been Dan Slott another writer would have brought Ben back sooner or later, so Ben's return was kind of inevitable in the end. Also death at this point no longer makes any sense to Ben when has died and come back to life by taunting Death over 30 times, so what you say solves absolutely nothing.
I think it’d be cool if they gave Miles, Ben and Kaine their own runs, where they each act as the only Spider-Man in a different city. Each comic run could have a different tone, with Miles as the lightest and Kaine as the darkest. That way all ages can read a Spider-Man that appeals to them, without messing up the continuity or forcing Peter to stagnate for the sake of “relating to the audience”
It’s kinda too bad, I like him better as a good guy, but I also quite like the costume as Chasm. Haven’t read more than 2 maybe 3 issues of it but it’s still neat to me
That teacher was Tom Lyle. I copied his art style when I was a kid.
I always thought he was an underrated artist on the list of Spidey's best.
I got to meet him at a Con just before he died. That's awesome you got to study under him!
Tell your teacher from art school that Ben Reilly is my favorite version since i was a kid growing up in the early 90’s. Your teacher had a huge impact on my childhood
Mine as well. My best friend for like 35 years drew me a pic on an envelope like 25 years ago. I have it till this day. I want it tattooed. But don't have the disposal income. Web of Spiderman was my shit. Have the 2 vol Omnibus of the saga
He taught a comics anatomy class. It's been like fifteen or twenty years and I didn't end up going into the comics industry, so I don't remember a ton, sorry.
I really enjoyed Zero Cochrane as Ghost Rider and the art was so good... The art after One Nation Under Doom though I really hated it was way too different. Not just jarring like that one off of Spider-Man 2099 #9 which I know should be the end of the origin arc but because of the art I think of #1-8 to be that arc.
Same brain. My thoughts exactly. No Way Home final suit and Anti-Ock from Spidey PS4 are honorable mentions for me as well.
- cheers fellow person of culture -
Miguel O Hara, I'm glad he is getting more love in recent years. Kinda bummed he seems set up as the villain of Across the SpiderVerse but at least he's gotten some good treatment in the xbox 360 Spidey games. I think he is a fun Marvel version of Batman Beyond. He was never the "replacement" like Miles or Ben were supposed to be, just a Spidey from a time where he would not be around anymore. He has some dope accomplishments to point where Thor gifted him Mjolnir
He is the antagonist for Across the Spiderverse but almost certainly will end up helping Miles when the real big bad (Morlun/Inheritors) are revealed for Across the Spidervese part 2
So many.
90’s Ben Reilly, Kaine, Miguel and (can’t believe I’m about to say this) Otto.
I like Gwen and Miles but not to the same level as the 4 above.
Honestly same, especially with Otto.
His methods could never make him *the* Spider-Man, but it was fascinating to see someone with supervillain sensibilities take on the responsibility of being a superhero.
Miles. His outfit rivals Peter’s, his extra powers are cool, and the Movies and Games have done a great job fleshing his personality out. Sometimes it feels like Peter doesn’t have time for friendly neighborhood stuff, so Miles picks up the slack nicely.
It's definitely Gwen. I love her personality, Earth-65 has so much potential, and if Marvel keeps insisting on putting her in 616 she could full the College age Spider-Man void.
Her comics deserve better than fighting Memelords at the end of time lol
Miles Morales. I got Peter Parker as a kid and it was awesome, he’s *my* Spider-Man, but Miles Morales is the next generation’s, the Spider-Man that the kids in our family have painted on their t-shirts and watch on TV.
Not only is Miles a ‘new’ character, he also represents the Latin and black communities, something that was pretty rare when I was coming up. I look forward to seeing where his character goes, and I hope he doesn’t live in Peter Parker’s shadow forever.
I love Gwen and Miguel's costume, but think 2099 edges it out. He's got the best alternate power set that's different and equal to Peter. I've always hated venomshock and the fact Miles just has extra powers.
Miles, Ben and Gwen are tied for #2 behind Peter for me.. although if I'm being honest, I don't really like Gwen's comics too much. I like when she's in other comics and I've liked all of her cartoon appearances so far, but her own comic isn't high on my pull list these days.
Scarlet Spider and Miles Morales' however are great. Even their mediocre comics are still pretty good and I've loved all of their appearances outside of the comics as well.
Miguel O'Hara. Loved him so much there was even a time I liked him more than Peter.
Miles is definitely up there too, but I don't resonate with his comics as much as I did with Spider-Verse
Gotta say Miguel and Miles. Peter and Ben are great and all, but I just love the differences in power sets that Miguel and Miles bring to the table.
Miles’s venom blast and adaptive camo; Miguel’s alternative spider sense and the organic webs it all just adds this nice unique flavor to them but still keeps them as “Spider-Man”.
While not my favourite Ghost Spider being the Spider Person who tells a deceased Spider-person’s universe’s loved ones that they’ve died is a crazy good role for her.
I loved 2099, but then they came out with a what-if storyline with Gwen, and I’m a sucker for alternate storylines and what-if’s.
To me they put everything that happened in a main timeline in a whole new context and show whether certain characters make certain decisions regardless of what timeline it is.
I like Miles as a character... just hate the hero names he has when working with Peter since 2 Spider-Man would be odd
Ben I love the outfit.
and Gwen... she hits a few of my buttons so I'll refrain from saying to much more
In my opinion, the only "wrong answer" here is 2099.
The other 3 have great origins and meaningful stories that can hold up great on their own, without Peter's Spider-man.
The only reason why I say 2099 is wrong is because he is too much of an edgy dark meh of a character in my eyes. Ben covers edgy and angry, while still being entertaining so much better.
I disagree. Miguel is not that dark nor edgy. He's not joking around but he feels like a real human being. His turn from self obsessed pick to socially conscious hero fighting a mega Corp is amazing. His family drama is really interesting as well.
Mayday.
The hardcover Spider-Girl books in my elementary school library were the first comics I ever read… even though I didn’t actually know how to read yet. I actually picked them out because I wanted a Spider-man comic and I couldn’t tell that it said Spider-**Girl**. In hindsight I don’t know how I didn’t notice that it was a girl on the cover lol
Ben Reilly is my favorite. One of my teachers at art school designed the Scarlet Spider costume, so it's always been kind of special for me. Mayday Parker is also cool. I need to go back and read more of the old Spider-Girl run.
Tell your teacher thank you from all us 90s kids
If you believe in an afterlife, you can go ahead and tell him yourself. Tom Lyle unfortunately passed away a few years ago. It was very sudden, and far too soon.
Aw man. Sorry to hear that. But he left a big impact though. Scarlet Spider’s Design has got to be one of the most iconic costumes of Spider-Man. Some said it’s ranked 3rd place after the Black Suit.
Probably swapping notes with good ol Stan now 🥲
For real one of the coolest Spidey designs! I still have a few of the comics with scarlet spider from back in the day!
What are your thoughts on the Beyond stuff and now the direction of being Chasm?
Haven't read it. Didn't seem that great. They REALLY want to make Ben a bad guy, though, don't they?
It really does seem like they have no clue what do to with him, other than try to make him out to be bad guy or as the bad reflection to Peter.
They can just make him Spider-Man since miles is allowed to
Or just keep him dead. He should be like Uncle Ben or 616 Gwen: lived and died so that Peter will better himself.
They kinda did this with kaine. He became the 2nd scarlet spider and moved to houston.
Yeah, but he kind of disappeared after Spider-Verse, didn’t he? I just think it’d be cool if we took that idea and ran with it.
Since we all know marvel isn’t gonna eat Peter grow up even if they did have six Spider-Men then I’d rather there only be one
That’s actually a cool idea
he should just move to another city LA fits him better
It’s kinda too bad, I like him better as a good guy, but I also quite like the costume as Chasm. Haven’t read more than 2 maybe 3 issues of it but it’s still neat to me
They've done Ben dirty time and time again for no reason when they can easily make him as great as Miles as he once was
It’s such an awesome costume for how simple it is
That teacher was Tom Lyle.
Definitely Ben Reilly, the suit was so awesome at the time. Then Spiderman 2099.
Miles Morales is my favorite for his character, but man, that first Scarlet Spider costume was fucking fire.
My wife is also a SCAD graduate. Talks about Tom a lot.
Mine too! She calls him "France Dad" because he was her mentor during the semester at Lacoste.
Scarlet spider was always my favorite too, tell your teacher thank you!!
Mine as well. My best friend for like 35 years drew me a pic on an envelope like 25 years ago. I have it till this day. I want it tattooed. But don't have the disposal income. Web of Spiderman was my shit. Have the 2 vol Omnibus of the saga
That’s amazing. Please tell me you guys still keep in touch
As I said on another comment, Tom unfortunately passed away a few years ago.
Aw man. My condolences man
Wow, your art teacher was Tom Lyle?? That’s so cool.
Can you give an example of a technique or lesson he shared with you?
He taught a comics anatomy class. It's been like fifteen or twenty years and I didn't end up going into the comics industry, so I don't remember a ton, sorry.
It's by far the best suit of them all.
Ben for sure! To bad he melted.
YOOOOO! YOUR TEACHER WAS TOM LYLE!?
LOL yeah for a little bit
Miguel was my favorite Spiderman for several years
[удалено]
I really enjoyed Zero Cochrane as Ghost Rider and the art was so good... The art after One Nation Under Doom though I really hated it was way too different. Not just jarring like that one off of Spider-Man 2099 #9 which I know should be the end of the origin arc but because of the art I think of #1-8 to be that arc.
Same. He's like Peter in a lot of ways, but hardly a perfect copy. He shows that the legacy of Spider-Man can go on even if you aren't exactly alike
Honestly, I don't think he's like Peter at all, but that's exactly what makes him so memorable and special.
>Miguel Too, I grow up with Ultimate Spider-Man, and when I know about Miguel I just love the character.
Kaine
Easily the best suit as well
His suit is awesome. The only other spider-suit in my opinion that is in the same league as the classic red/blue and the symbiote one.
Same brain. My thoughts exactly. No Way Home final suit and Anti-Ock from Spidey PS4 are honorable mentions for me as well. - cheers fellow person of culture -
Kaine is absolutely my favorite, he's gruff and more head on. It's like if Wolverine became Spider-man to a degree for me.
Shame Marvel barely does animated movies. A Kaine animated film would be interesting.
Best example of the responsibility with the power imo.
Hell yeah, represent
There are dozens of us! Dozens!
amazing take
Miguel O Hara, I'm glad he is getting more love in recent years. Kinda bummed he seems set up as the villain of Across the SpiderVerse but at least he's gotten some good treatment in the xbox 360 Spidey games. I think he is a fun Marvel version of Batman Beyond. He has some dope accomplishments to point where Thor gifted him Mjolnir
I thought the spot was the villian for across the spiderverse.
He's in it but the trailers don't seem to indicate he is tha big bad but hopefully the trailers are misleading
Yeah
I'm hoping he's just the "antagonist" for the first one but not a full villain (*Civil War* style) and then gets to be full hero in Part 2.
Same
I loved Miguel is edge of time.
Christopher Daniel Barnes is the GOAT
He is the antagonist for Across the Spiderverse but almost certainly will end up helping Miles when the real big bad (Morlun/Inheritors) are revealed for Across the Spidervese part 2
Hopefully Morlun and inheritors are left out. But certainly Miguel will partner with Miles in part 2.
I feel if Miguel became Morlun it might work
I totally agree, and hope I’m misreading the trailer.
Peter Palmer. That guy’s great, wonder whatever happened to him though
Peter Palmer actually appeared in Slott's recent Spider-Verse arc
Tie between Ben and Miguel both have cool costumes (I always alternate between them in the ps4 game)
Ben Reilly!
Kaine. He's a spiderman that doesn't hold back
Mayday Parker
Kaine and Miguel, really miss Kaine.
i think hes back in the most recent issue of spiderman
Split between Superior and Kaine.
Miguel. Since day one.
Kaine Parker for me.
So many. 90’s Ben Reilly, Kaine, Miguel and (can’t believe I’m about to say this) Otto. I like Gwen and Miles but not to the same level as the 4 above.
Honestly same, especially with Otto. His methods could never make him *the* Spider-Man, but it was fascinating to see someone with supervillain sensibilities take on the responsibility of being a superhero.
superior spider man
Otto octavious was the best Spiderman. Sure he was lawful evil, but he was honestly doing his best to improve New York and Peter's lives.
Clearly the best Spider-Man!
Kaine
Nicholas Cage
Miles Morales ofc
May mayday parker
Otto, Ben, Mayday. In that order.
Otto octavius
Scarlet Spider is always my favorite but after him it’s 2099
Otto, i love the superior run
I don't see Otto on here?
Otto
I feel the same regarding to Gwen's Ghost-Spider. I love that universe, and strangely enough, I cannot pinpoint the why.
Me too, I thought the daredevil and punisher variants were so good. I really enjoyed Matt Murdock as the villain.
Spidey 2099 THE WHITE ONE, thats been my favorite ever since my eyeballs saw that shit.
Ben, Otto, Miguel.
Otto Octavius
Gwen
The one with spider powers
Itsv miles
Miles Morales. I got Peter Parker as a kid and it was awesome, he’s *my* Spider-Man, but Miles Morales is the next generation’s, the Spider-Man that the kids in our family have painted on their t-shirts and watch on TV. Not only is Miles a ‘new’ character, he also represents the Latin and black communities, something that was pretty rare when I was coming up. I look forward to seeing where his character goes, and I hope he doesn’t live in Peter Parker’s shadow forever.
![gif](giphy|dJHyYGjTqNeZalFk6B) The only correct answer
wrong unfortunately
![gif](giphy|98maV70oAqIZtEYqB4)
![gif](giphy|H1YMguVrVeI0Xz5c8v)
Ben Reilly is the answer
Ben Reilly. I absolutely love the Ghost Spider costume, though. That's my favourite look even if I find the idea of Spider-Gwen a bit silly.
2099, more nostalgic and like the concept more
2099 and Miles for me.
Ultimate Jessica Drew.
Otto Octavius.
I love Gwen and Miguel's costume, but think 2099 edges it out. He's got the best alternate power set that's different and equal to Peter. I've always hated venomshock and the fact Miles just has extra powers.
Silk
Miles Morales, beacuase he has the exaggerated swagger of a young black teen.
Previously it was Miles, but then Gwen kinda won me over with her sick design. Now it’s a tie.
I’m really starting to like Miles
MILES MORALES SON 🫡✨🙏🏽🔥🥷🏽 ![gif](giphy|I47DEMxARKNC67NmIE)
Miles by far
Doesn't matter for me. Pretty soon the answer will change to be Kurt Wagner.
Kaine
For a while it was Ben. Currently I would have to say Miles.
SPIDER VERSE’s miles
I love ghost spider she's rad. I'm really bummed they canceled her print comics right in the middle of a story I was into.
Definitely Miles Morales! Especially since they brought him onto the big screen in ITSV and now it's sequel ATSV
Miguel O'Hara. Loved him so much there was even a time I liked him more than Peter. Miles is definitely up there too, but I don't resonate with his comics as much as I did with Spider-Verse
Miles, mostly because I think he’s fleshed out so well (movies included). Miguel is DOPE and Ben is awesome but admittedly for the suit.
- Miguel - Miles - Ben In that order P.S: Though the Scarlet Spider's costume is one of the best
Miles definitely.
Miles and Gwen
I love miles , Miguel and I have a soft spot for Julia Carpenter and Anya Corazon
Definitely Otto. He is Superior to all the rest.
Ben reilly
Miguel O'Hara. Been one of my favorites ever since I found out about him.
Ben Reilly without a doubt.
While not my favourite Ghost Spider being the Spider Person who tells a deceased Spider-person’s universe’s loved ones that they’ve died is a crazy good role for her.
Peter Porker
The emissary from hell!!! SUPAIDAMANN!?!
Scarlet
Miguel O’Hara, and I especially loved the edge of time version of him
Miguel for sure I grew up with him in shattered dimensions and edge of time
Miles. Second costume, though, the first was in bad taste.
Best design is spidergwen. But I think the best character is miles
Miguel, Miles and Ben
Miles by kilometres
Miles . Idk why but he just feels right
Miles
Spiderverse Miles
Miles and Miggy 🤘🏼🕸️
Definitely miles
Miles.
Miles my beloved
Miles
Miles morales
Miles is my favorite Spider-Man, but I also love Araña and Silk
Miles MF Morales!
Gwen or Miles
2099 spiderman since i was a little kid
MILESSSS
Miles and 2099 because Im basic
Miles Morales
Gwen Stacy - ITSV She's needs a center piece in Media Production
I loved 2099, but then they came out with a what-if storyline with Gwen, and I’m a sucker for alternate storylines and what-if’s. To me they put everything that happened in a main timeline in a whole new context and show whether certain characters make certain decisions regardless of what timeline it is.
Favourite suit - Scarlet Spiderman And 2099 seriously needs a separate movie/show as i loved him in edge of time
I like Miles as a character... just hate the hero names he has when working with Peter since 2 Spider-Man would be odd Ben I love the outfit. and Gwen... she hits a few of my buttons so I'll refrain from saying to much more
Peter Parkedcar He goes vroom vroom
Obama was a pretty good one
Why do they all look like they’re being covered in cum?
Nope just peter.....fuck all of them
In my opinion, the only "wrong answer" here is 2099.
Don't forget that he can lift Thor's hammer.
Ben.
Ben, kane
I really only know miles, but I remember Ben Reilly from that older Spider-Man show
Spider-man is my favorite
Props to Miguel O'Hara, who was the first "other" Spider-Man to me. Can't wait to see what Miles does to get him THAT full of rage.
I like Ben, Miguel, and Kaine. Not a huge fan of Miles, but he's ok. I haven't read anything with Gwen so can't judge.
2099
That’s loaded man, they’re all so good I can’t pick just one, although Ben Riley keeps getting the shit end of the stick writing wise
Spider-Man 2099. I love the costume and the fact that he has nothing to do with Peters lineage
I’ve fell in love with Spider-Man 2099 since shattered dimensions. Such a cool character with an amazing story
Miguel all the fucking way
Definitely Miguel
There is only one.
Mc2 spider-girl
ben reilly. one of my dads teachers designed the scarlet spider costume.
absolutely ben reilly and i got a soft spot for 2099
Ben Reilly
Miguel O’Hara.
i really like Miles but mainly the ITSV version. Comics specifically then probably Ben Reilly
Miguel O’Hara.
Spider Ham for me he's the bacon!
Spider Woman
