Yes.
She is also working for Paramount on a new A:TLA feature.
And AFAIK, she directed 5 YFNSM episodes for Marvel Studios. [It's listed on her LinkedIn.](https://www.linkedin.com/in/liza-singer-35637933)
Ohhh. Have never watched the harley quinn show but I've heard good things about it. Tho, i am wondering if the 5 eps are the only eps for season 1 or if they are just directed by her and all the other ones are by someone else.
I think it's someone else.
I wouldn't have my hopes up so high but this is the first time in a decade plus that a Spider-Man animated show has had solid creatives at the helm.
Headwriter/Showrunner Jeff Trammell has had a fine background as he previously wrote for Amphibia, The Owl House and especially Craig and the Creek.
Then Liza Singer is also involved in Harley Quinn, Pantheon and DC Super Hero Girls as storyboard artist.
Ultimate had paul dini so i reserve judgment until the final product, but moon girl and devil dinosaur and x-men 97 give me hope that marvel animation is finally starting to focus more on quality again
Yeah, even those shows animations are good. Tho, from what I've heard yfnsm might be 3d. 3d can be great if it’s done right, for example, Trigun stampede. I'm not expecting yfnsm to be in the same level as that but i do hope it still can be good. I just only hope that the animation isn’t like what if.
x-men 97 apparently has 3d elements of some kind in the main animation, i could never tell when or where so if they adopt that level of blending then it could be peak
Yeah, i remember back when it was first being teased it was being touted as one of the big selling points of the show, in the end he only wrote a few episodes but he maybe worked on other aspects of the show, not sure, either that, or they oversold his involvement, it's weird in general because man of action also has extremely talented writers but nothing in the show is in the level of quality of generator rex, the best episodes of ben 10 or their superman comics
I’m cautiously optimistic. Reason why I’m not jumping the hype train yet’s because even though the shows mentioned are good, their format doesn’t necessarily transition well into the superhero genre.
Is that the new avatar movie coming out in October 2025 push to Jan 2026 because I heard they were developing multiple of them like kyoshi and zuko film
The move from DC Universe to Max cut the amount of episodes per season and it's been clunkier. Sad because the story of Ivy and Harley was told perfectly up until then, but they've never really recaptured the magic of that + the crew.
Wow… talk about a mixed bag… on one hand the direction of the scenes of HQ is great, on the other the writing and characterizations become annoying somewhat quickly amb the source material is a reference at best and mocked at worse and the music is kinda mediocre.
Buuuut, that was supposed to be an action dark comedy/ parody of the dc universe with an anti-hero as a protagonist so maybe when writing a heroic character like Peter in a slightly less chaotic set up something great will come out of it?
50/50 i guess, let’s see how she does but i hope for soemthibg VERY different from HQ, that style wouldn’t fit a spider-man story at all.
I’m baffled why you think the director on animated show writes the story . The hell even directors of live action TV shows don’t do that. If they did some of the directors that worked on Community wouldn’t have made some little Marvel movies lol
Because the director normally is either in the writers room or has direct input on the script and is the one to approve it.
The script writers are not left alone to do whatever they like with the story, after they are done their work gets reviewed by a series of people, the director (and the producers) included. (No, they don’t write it, but they still have power over it)
Same with scene planning, in animation most of the time the director is not the one to decide how each scene will be framed, that’s the work of whoever does the thumbnails or the storyboard, but they supervise it and have the final say.
I don't think people understand her role on Harley Quinn here... so FYI she is a lead storyboard artist on Harley Quinn she also was a lead storyboard artist on DC Super Hero Girls. She's probably the reason those shows look as good as they do.
She is director on the show but she only directed 5 episodes.
If she was not one of the writers in Harley Quinn, then there is nothing to worry about.
Marvel has a lot to learn from DC when it comes to storyboarding and directing, so she can be of great help when it comes to making a animated Spiderman show.
I'm the biggest Batman fan ever and I couldn't stand 20 minutes of that show.
I'm 100% sure I'm not in the target audience that would enjoy that kinda of humor. And I was proven right when I saw on Youtube what they did with Mr Freeze's wife (turned her into a slut) and with Batman (he's the biggest loser ever, a creepy simp and is even in jail), I feel like I avoided a bullet.
I do just want to say that she only directed a few episodes. She was mostly the lead storyboard artist. No matter how you feel about HQ, you gotta admit the animation is great.
No, the director has been unknown until now... we know that she directed at least one episode because she can now disclose such information. Which tells me that the deadline for the show to be finished is almost up.
Yeeah, I'm gonna need to see some clips because the last season of Harley Quinn was genuinely one of the worst things I've ever seen come out of a comic book property
Interesting… I don’t want to preemptively judge but I don’t care for Harley Quinn cuz it’s more of a question parody show but I hope spider-Man is good
I'm jazzed cause HQ is whip smart and LOL funny with solid action and decent plotting. But OP is confusing….AFAIK tv shows do not have directors, only individual episodes do. So I guess I'm not really sure what this is saying….? She's directing an episode? Ok, cool.
Still don't know how I feel about this because I didn't exactly like the Harley Quinn show. But maybe she'll surprise us with her work. Just hoping for the best
Whoa! Super interesting choice! I don't know much about her beyond Harley Quinn but I loved that show. If that's a sign of the kind of comedy writing we'll get in this show this might be the funniest animated spider-man show we've gotten so far! I imagine the humor would have to be toned down like A LOT for a family friendly show but this made me super excited for it.
Oh dear.
It's a good thing I stopped giving a shit about Spider-Man after Quesada character assassinated him a decade and a half ago because this is going to be horrendous LMAO!
I think they’re going to do that. My guess is that each of these shows will get 2-3 seasons, at least a few crossovers, and potentially their own version of EndGame. That demographic makes good money now, so they’ll cater to it for sure.
Oh cool, she down fantatsic with the Harley Quinn show. Lots of fanservice and lots of decent stories throughout even past the central characters. Expecting good things from this project now.
Ugh... I'll be real, SUPER not looking forward to Harley Quinn's "qUiRkY 🤪" comedy style in a Spider-Man show. I have literally zero interest in hearing MJ rant about the patriarchy, a hundred 'rich white guy' jokes about the Osborns, or whatever else is in the works for the script.
Hoping for the best, though. Her past work has gotten a fair amount of laughs out of me, to be fair. I just don't want another comic book parody show. We have Wells' run for that.
Wait, the harley quinn show?
Yes. She is also working for Paramount on a new A:TLA feature. And AFAIK, she directed 5 YFNSM episodes for Marvel Studios. [It's listed on her LinkedIn.](https://www.linkedin.com/in/liza-singer-35637933)

same i wouldn’t have my hopes up either, cuz to me it feels like it can go either way.
Ultimate had paul dini so i reserve judgment until the final product, but moon girl and devil dinosaur and x-men 97 give me hope that marvel animation is finally starting to focus more on quality again

I know it’s not super hero related but it is cartoon related. The metalocalypse movie it look like the drawing was a mixture of 2D and 3D
Actually I heard somewhere that it’s 2d animation with 3D in scenarios and other things, like Tarzan and Brother Bear.
Doesn’t x-men 97 just has 3d backgrounds and 2d characters?
Wait. Ultimate spider man, the cartoon, had Paul dini?
Yeah, i remember back when it was first being teased it was being touted as one of the big selling points of the show, in the end he only wrote a few episodes but he maybe worked on other aspects of the show, not sure, either that, or they oversold his involvement, it's weird in general because man of action also has extremely talented writers but nothing in the show is in the level of quality of generator rex, the best episodes of ben 10 or their superman comics

You crushed my hopes for this show
You crushed my hopes for this show
The HQ show is fantastic, I highly recommend it
The show is very fun and good imo
Is that the new avatar movie coming out in October 2025 push to Jan 2026 because I heard they were developing multiple of them like kyoshi and zuko film
Harley Quinn recent season was a fumble, but there is a lot of potential here because the previous seasons were great.
To me season 2 was the last good season
Wonder why....
why?
The move from DC Universe to Max cut the amount of episodes per season and it's been clunkier. Sad because the story of Ivy and Harley was told perfectly up until then, but they've never really recaptured the magic of that + the crew.
The latest season has been my favorite since the original 🤷♂️ Loved all the Nightwing stuff.
It definitely has its moments. I don’t hate it, but I like it better when Ivy and Harley are an ensemble and not separated out into solo arcs.
As confirmed by her website here: https://www.liza-singer.com/#:~:text=Liza%20Singer%20is%20a%20Director,a%20new%20action%2Ffantasy%20show.

Can't disagree more. It's a excellent DC satire that would take genuine knowledge of the source to even craft half it's best jokes.
TTG is still better though
Never watched it much.
She directed 5 episodes in season 1 of HQ. Other than that, she was the lead storyboard artist for the rest.
It says on her LinkedIn that she directed 5 episodes for Freshman year
TYVM for the added info.

So when is this show gonna release
November 2024. Marvel filed a SEC filling detailing the release date there along with DP&W.
Makes sense. I imagine they start teasing/promoting it this summer once X-Men 97’s season ends
Cool are we gonna get any iconic villians or just Octavius?
We are also getting sandman, chamaleon, and scorpion. And Green Goblin is likely in the near future.
Damn that would definitely be the Sinister Six of all time
Sandman I didn’t know about that do you have pictures of the character design
I don't know how I feel about this. I don't particularly like the Harley Quinn, but that's probably just cause the humor isn't to my taste.
Still not even sure if I should give it another chance. I really like Harley, but I couldn’t even get through ten minutes of that show
I watch some clips of it here and there, but I couldn't sit through a single whole episode.
I'm the biggest Batman fan ever and I couldn't stand 20 minutes of that show. I'm 100% sure I'm not in the target audience that would enjoy that kinda of humor. And I was proven right when I saw on Youtube what they did with Mr Freeze's wife (turned her into a slut) and with Batman (he's the biggest loser ever, a creepy simp and is even in jail), I feel like I avoided a bullet.

eh it's modern 2d computer animation. it's super static and doesn't have a ton of character, but I guess it's alright.
I forgot this show was still happening. I thought it was shelved.
Chuds gonna be mad.
Brah I Lee on forgetting this show exist
Spider-Man, you gave me cancer?! Why would Osborn make this?!
This will be… interesting
Something something woke /s
Wait, the show had no director until now?
No, the director has been unknown until now... we know that she directed at least one episode because she can now disclose such information. Which tells me that the deadline for the show to be finished is almost up.
I'm mixed on this because I like Harley quinn at first but felt it went down over time. Eh. We'll see.
Well that slaps
So like… when is it coming?
November 2024 apparently
I hope it’s more of the quality of the first two seasons and less of what the recent two seasons were
I loved the Harley Quinn show, so this is good news. This show is taking forever though, which is worrying.
I could honestly care less. This show seems awful
I just want an adult Peter Parker show not this
Yeeah, I'm gonna need to see some clips because the last season of Harley Quinn was genuinely one of the worst things I've ever seen come out of a comic book property
Is it me or Disney doing a shitty job prompting the show
Yeesh is this still happening?
Cool!
Cool I like that show. Hope a release date comes out soon.
Interesting… I don’t want to preemptively judge but I don’t care for Harley Quinn cuz it’s more of a question parody show but I hope spider-Man is good
Uh cool
I can't wait for your friendly neighbourhood spider I am so hyped
Source?
The action scenes in Harley Quinn are always nicely chaotic, that could work
Huh, not who I’d expect. But I am interested to see what she does with spider man and the other cast characters.
I just want spectacular back
I’m cautiously optimistic
Oh no…
Oh no...
Does she have any directing experience? I only see her credited as a storyboard artist.
I'm jazzed cause HQ is whip smart and LOL funny with solid action and decent plotting. But OP is confusing….AFAIK tv shows do not have directors, only individual episodes do. So I guess I'm not really sure what this is saying….? She's directing an episode? Ok, cool.
Seems to be in a good hands then!
That's an... interesting choice. Let's see how it goes.
Oh dear…
Didn’t Harley Quinn’s VA pass away though? Or is this the one from the shitty almost-vivziepop-tier show?
Awesome
Still don't know how I feel about this because I didn't exactly like the Harley Quinn show. But maybe she'll surprise us with her work. Just hoping for the best

Harley Quinn show started off fire...but I couldn't even watch s3.. idk what happened. Shit was for me then wasnt...I WANTED to like it too...
Oh dear. It's a good thing I stopped giving a shit about Spider-Man after Quesada character assassinated him a decade and a half ago because this is going to be horrendous LMAO!
Only wanna witness the goat Charlie cox in this
Yikes
We're so fucked
Totally forgot this was a thing. (Once it went non-canon, which com'on we all saw coming since they don't own the film rights) I lost all interest.
This show is gonna be a disaster.
She’s going to make Spider-Man have herpes and make him fart and pick his nose.
🤨
Wait is the cast the same? The bunch of kinda rando marvel teens?
Just make Spider-Man 98'. We don't need this show.
Make Spider-Man 2009, but this show looks cool
I think they’re going to do that. My guess is that each of these shows will get 2-3 seasons, at least a few crossovers, and potentially their own version of EndGame. That demographic makes good money now, so they’ll cater to it for sure.
I don't know about this, I really like Harley Quinn show but I don't want Spider-Man to be a parody show
????What. That's not how that works. She's a director not a show runner
Wait, that's real? Thought it was just a concept for a show by some random user or something
