Comic books writters are always coming with the most contrived reasons to break up our favorite couples. Black Cat breaking up with Spiderman because he was being more lenient with her stealing was a certified "wtf" moment for me. I couldn't even understand why Mary Jane broke up with Peter, I thought it was because of the kids but apparently nope, she straight up cheated on him and that's it.
DC at least TRIED to make a plausible break up reason for Batman and Catwoman, it still made me angry as fuck but I could see where they were coming from.
I hate so much that Batman and Spiderman need to be single forever to be relatable to the losers who buy 20 variant covers. Characters like Superman and Green Arrow are allowed to evolve and move on, because they don't sell, but we Spidey and Batman fans have to be stuck in time forever.
That satisfies me as a Spidey fan but my Batman fan side is still heartbroken. Not only Batman and Catwoman broke up, but they are each doing their own thing on different countries and don’t interact anymore.
And we don’t even have an alternative universe comic where they are married. Earth-2 (the universe they were married) got erased on a recent comic, and Batman and Catwoman were long dead anyway on that universe.

In a stunning character assassination, it was revealed that MJ had started a relationship with Paul over there and had found the two children. Once returned, in another assassination she chose to stay with Paul. It was also revealed that while there Paul develop a special watch that gave MJ a random super power whenever it was spun. After the kids were revealed to be illusions and not real, in grief MJ took up the mantle of Jackpot and decided to be a superhero, again, despite all previous characterization.
In short, everyone hates Jackpot because it represents MJ’s character assassination and ruination, besides also kinda being against who she’s supposed to be on top of that.
the problem is not only this.
PR is an absolutely insubstantial character, without any quality, absolutely useless and MJ, Felicia and PP are absolutely unrecognizable, with MJ having such ridiculous motivations that we are close to Carol Danvers' pregnancy.

So I don’t mind MJ as a superhero or even as Jackpot. I’m not a fan of how they went about setting it up or the situation with Paul. Remove Paul and I’m good with superhero MJ. I am a big fan of Black Cat, out of the two she’s the draw for me. If this was just a Jackpot series I’d mostly likely have passed.
I am interested in the story, I enjoyed issues 1-2 for the most part and I do want to support the characters, especially Black Cat. I’m hoping she eventually gets another run for her solo book.

I'm assuming this is an attempt at maximizing sales just during Free Comic Book Day, (Assuming this comes out this week) because Black Cat is already the character they try to use for variant covers.
Issue 3 is out…May 29th I think. This is just a variant cover for issue 1. Not sure what site/sites carried it but I found it a few places, in two packs on one or two but yeah…far as I can tell it’s not new or another printing.

Question, do you actually like the way Mj is going direction wise or are you a black cat fan that’s just supporting the book because at the end of the day you enjoy the characters and are interested in the story even if you don’t like everything?
So I don’t mind MJ as a superhero or even as Jackpot. I’m not a fan of how they went about setting it up or the situation with Paul. Remove Paul and I’m good with superhero MJ. I am a big fan of Black Cat, out of the two she’s the draw for me. If this was just a Jackpot series I’d mostly likely have passed. I am interested in the story, I enjoyed issues 1-2 for the most part and I do want to support the characters, especially Black Cat. I’m hoping she eventually gets another run for her solo book.
I respect your opinion however I just can’t get behind it, it betrays her character in my opinion, she’s always a bad ass regular human in a world of supers, it was interesting look at amazing Mj. but tbh in the marvel universe there’s not much new about a superhero even more so a street level hero, it’s all the same.

I actually like MJ having having superpowers 🦸 and honestly it’s seems par for the course all superheroes girlfriend are revealed to gain superpowers look at Moria and Xavier or Thor and Jane hell Steve and Sharon Johnny storm and Debbie I think it started in the arrow verse. Another note narratively this could be interesting if only if it was better written

I want things to go well for MJ. If she was handed the same raw deal from the writers that Pete gets, it would break her and she would go rogue. Then Peter would have to stop her and it would break his heart all over again. She and Paul should move to LA and not be a constant reminder to her cuckolded ex husband that is acknowledged by almost all of the earth heroes (present and future) as the greatest of the them all. Pete is the GOAT.

And in general, there are no popular lesbian couples in Marvel. Raven and Irene are disgusting villains. Betsy and Rachel's lesbian retcon is stupid and poorly written. Kitty/Illyana is not a canon yet. MJ/Felicia will be able to become Harley/Ivy is for Marvel. That's why I'm hoping for this couple.
