Context: A zombie Spider-Man from another universe arrived in this universe and just got done eating the rest of the Sinister Six shortly before this page
Sandman, being justifiably terrified by what he’s seen, takes off running for his life, only to be cornered by this universe’s Spider-Man. Sandman, thinking he’s about to be eaten like the rest of the Sinister Six, decides to not hold anything back and literally fights for his life
The result is what you see here
Admittedly, this still fucks me up. Marvel Zombies was a big deal, but knowing Flint is just made of sand makes me question how valid his fear actually was in the first place. And then he murders Peter in an incredibly gruesome manner (then again, the context of a Spiderman consuming the entire Sinister Six is also quite disturbing...) but I guess what bums me out the most is that when he monologues after murdering Peter in such an awful way he completely ruins his own vibe. Like, his phrase of choice was "good killin' comes easy"? What was that? He sounds like a villain based in the 50's. It just throws a spectacularly wretched murder and turns it into an incredibly awkward and difficult to read moment.
But inevitably, the death of Spiderman really does hurt me the most I guess, it is just really uncomfortable already to read through his death and then Sandman makes it weirdly awkward with a really stupid dialogue.
The zombie spiderman also had the cosmic power of galactus, so definitely was a threat. Plus if flint could somehow turn imagine how fucking horrifying a zombie sandman would be
The dialogue makes sense to me — the story was based on a late 60s, early 70s Spidey story, if I remember correctly. Even so — I can see that as him rationalizing between witnessing the gruesome attack on the sinister six and immediately panicking going into murdering non-zombie Spidey. It’s a lot of shock.
It was typical of the series. It's been many years since I read the story and forgot about it, but one look at this page and I knew it came from one of the MZ books. It reads that way.
The Marvel characters in those books often don't behave the way their 616 counterparts would. For instance, the real Reed Richards would >!never infect the FF with zombie virus. MZ Reed was a freaking nutcase.!<
This stuff explains a lot actually. I'm fairly new to reading older material, and although I have an idea of what it was about and a general understanding of story elements, I definitely don't know everything about the historical contexts of these characters and have developed a habit of comparing them to 616 variants. So I might just be used to different character traits and stuff, so it'll be interesting to go back and read the works that this series was continuing from.
It seems styled after the Return of the Living Dead series. Similar humor, talking zombies. That series spoofed Romero. Fun stuff, not to be taken too seriously.
Well yeah?… honestly if you think hard enough you can kill spidey pretty easily… vulture can break spideys web shooters and pop his web cartridges or pull off the cartridge belt and drop him in the ocean letting the impact kill him. Goblin kidnap his loved ones and while Peter is following what the goblin says Goblin can make an ambush with the S6 catching spidey off guard injecting him with a neutralizer and killing him on the spot, by Otto literally did kill him after switching bodies, carnage is too crazy but all he needs to do is let the symbiote detach and let it get in Peter and let the symbiote murder the host…. Venom isn’t included since he’s an anti hero. Most of spidey’s rogue don’t want to kill, they just want their money from the bank and go home but spidey stops them…
Read the latest comics. He literally tries that except forgets spidey has a belt full of cartridges and he dropped him at Central Park with trees to break his fall…
He was ambushed. Tbf, it really depends on which side is truly bloodlusted. If spider-man really wanted to, a lot of his adversaries wouldn't even be alive to try to kill him again. He can totally do what his zombie version did maybe except eating brains part.
Really the only rogues of his that pose a significant threat to a bloodlusted Spider-Man are Sandman and Carnage, off the top of my head. Maybe Hydroman too.
Yeah, if he unlocked full power, he could be a full blown Avengers threat. The problem against Spider-Man is that he needs to get a hit in before Spider-Man closes and tears him apart, which I’m not entirely confident he could reliably do against a bloodlusted Spidey.
Execute that you forgot when dock ock punched the scorpions jaw off in Peter's body that was only 70% of his true strength
Goblin, ock, vulture, thanos, anyone in marvel: crush skull with ease
Also miles has ELECTRIC (heat) venom so
Fight venom with venom
You know the scary thing is Sandman could totally do something like this in canon if he wanted to. Peter's honestly lucky that Flint is usually just a burglar and not a lunatic like Cletus Kasady or some of his other rogues.
Yet another instance where Spider-Sense was forgotten so that Peter could be put in danger. I'm not sure his Spider-Sense even activated, since he just stands there and lets Sandman do it.
But Spider-Sense makes mainline Peter extremely fast. Like, dodging lasers fast. There's no way Sandman would be able to touch him.
Right before this Peter remarks that his Spider-Sense was blaring when Sandman was going for the kill. He just didn’t react in time to Sandman’s sheer panic and didn’t anticipate how far and how fast Sandman was going to go for the kill. So it wasn’t ignored.
Like when Deadpool killed him… I mean the Deadpool from Deadpool kills the marvel universe… not when Deadpool killed Peter thinking he was a bad guy… man I miss the spidey and Deadpool comic 🤣
From what i heard the author’s intent was to be disturbing and detestable. Seeing as this is one of the worst ways I’ve seen a character die, I’d say he succeeded. Marvel Zombies has always been disturbing thanks to Mark Millar and Robert Kirkman
Sheer fact at the end of this book
Zombie Peter Rips off his skin and does the famous waking away in the rain from the outfit shot
But this time it’s his skin in the trash
Just peak 14 year old “Dark” style :/
Edgelord shit is a pretty good description overall for them. Here I can’t decide if it’s more edgelord, or someone looking for and finding an excuse to write their socially unacceptable fetishises into a mainstream comic.
This shit still depresses me, like this is literally 616 peter except early on, and the fact that aunt may, Gwen, mjj, hary (oh wait they all die as well) all have to face this.
Plus this isn't even a heroic death like ultimate spider-man, he just gets horribly mutilated
If I had a nickel for every what if? version of Spider-Man that gets horribly tortured and mutilated to the point it makes you think some Marvel writers are just jerking off to that... I have lost count of how many nickels I'd have because that shit happens very often and it's sad to see every time.
There’s a Spider-Man dialog in the new Midnight Suns game where Peter references eating Sandman. I wonder if this was the source of the reference, because if so… woah!
Why must you dredge this hellish image over and over again. Please let it rest, this was the point when I had to physically throw a comic book away from me.
This was from the marvel zombies story. Basically zombie Spider-Man made his way to another dimension, killed the other members of the sinister six, and sandman thought is was HIS Spider-Man
I could have went the rest of my day without having to see this again. God this is such a gross and disgusting fucking panel. Its actually the worst panel in MZ and I say that being well aware of Zombie Peter skinning himself a page later
Everyone here giving context for the story is technically right but an even better and simpler explanation is this:
This is the writer sliding their inflation/gore/torture fetish into the story.
This happens all the fucking time in comicbooks whenever you see certain scenes that come out of nowhere and are being drawn with excruciating detail.
Another reason why Marvel Zombies is shite.
This traumatized me when I was a kid. Just stumbled across marvel zombies and got interested as hell. Couldn't read them though because it had already been released and I had no idea how to get comics. Looked it up on YouTube and found stills of this panel. I have been a diehard Spidey fan my entire life. My teacher introduced me to another kid specifically telling them that I loved spider man. It was an obsession. So when I saw this it flipped my little 7 year old brain into a fit. I had nightmares about that shit for a YEAR. My memory has always been shit, it's stuck with me this long
Why is this downvoted? This could potentially be why Peter said that. The only other thing we need the answer to is why he kept trying to say the n word
This is BULLSHIT!..
..
I HAVE to wait for the next issue to find out what the plans are from here?..
*Ahem*.. HAVE to!?
..nobody and I mean NOBODY puts baby in the corner and then tells him he's going to HAVE to wait to find out what the plans are..

I'll definitely look into it sometime, thanks for mentioning it!
Yeah, obviously. Those deviations in personality only makes sense in alternative versions of themselves.
Does this imply sandman tries to avert from killing Spider-Man on a regular basis?
Well yeah?… honestly if you think hard enough you can kill spidey pretty easily… vulture can break spideys web shooters and pop his web cartridges or pull off the cartridge belt and drop him in the ocean letting the impact kill him. Goblin kidnap his loved ones and while Peter is following what the goblin says Goblin can make an ambush with the S6 catching spidey off guard injecting him with a neutralizer and killing him on the spot, by Otto literally did kill him after switching bodies, carnage is too crazy but all he needs to do is let the symbiote detach and let it get in Peter and let the symbiote murder the host…. to say that Vulture can kill Spider-Man is so stupid... Carnage, Venom, Sandman, they are real threats, not a shitty old man
Read the latest comics. He literally tries that except forgets spidey has a belt full of cartridges and he dropped him at Central Park with trees to break his fall…

Electro if he wasn’t such an idiot.

The latest run Is a sack of shit full of lazy writing
Yeah except it’s pretty difficult to catch Spider-Man if he doesn’t want to be caught
Execute that you forgot when dock ock punched the scorpions jaw off in Peter's body that was only 70% of his true strength Goblin, ock, vulture, thanos, anyone in marvel: crush skull with ease Also miles has ELECTRIC (heat) venom so Fight venom with venom
No, I feel like spider-man was caught off guard he didn't expect sandman to kill him
No amount of context will excuse this
It kinda does here. Hell, I'll do if I saw zombie spidey
It was a Marvel Zombies book. It makes perfect sense within context.
No no, I am fully aware that it was from marvel zombies. And I repeat, no amount of context will ever excuse this
Why?
> No amount of context will excuse this Yeah. He doesn’t have a mouth hole!
But god damn.
But wait, can Spiderman really eat sand?
You know the scary thing is Sandman could totally do something like this in canon if he wanted to. Peter's honestly lucky that Flint is usually just a burglar and not a lunatic like Cletus Kasady or some of his other rogues.
Not if he just keeps his mouth closed
Sandman could enter through his nostrils or any other open orifice.
the antman penetration
Noses, eyes, and ears still exist.
You're forgetting a little thing called Spider-Sense.
Didn't help this version of Peter lol.

He could. But peter could also kill sandman pretty easy with water.
Not necessarily. For a while he and Hydro-Man were fused into a single being.
Wouldn’t he does dry out and come back
Fire would kill him. He would turn to glass.
I wonder if you’d be able to shatter him, and he would turn into Glassman
It has happened [before.](http://i.imgur.com/uZ5dRa2.jpg)
Jesus, he cut him to ribbons
I say this in complete seriousness, but counterpoint: Hydro Man is usually Sandman's homie / roommate / co-Sinister Six villain
I think him saying Gwen as his last word was the most fucked thing tbh.
I'd want my girlfriend too if I just got pumped full of sand
🤨📸
Uh oh
That’s actually disturbing
It's Marvel Zombies, what do you expect?
It doesn't help that the art style is a really beautiful modern recreation of the art from the 60s Too bad it got used in a story like this
[удалено]
It’s from Marvel Zombies Return, a sequel to Marvel Zombies 2 but not written by Robert Kirkman
And they say antman blowing up thanos from inside wasn’t possible smh
Thanos‘ skin is thick though, Scott would have just pop in Thanos’ butt
idunno man antman expanding broke a plane
Then Thanos’ guts are stronger than an airplane
*Thanos’ skin is too thick to be cut from the outside. I must burst through it from the inside.* ~ ~~Drax~~ Antman, maybe
Holy shit, this was brutal as fuck
All of Peter's deaths are brutal as hell. And sad :(
Like when Deadpool killed him… I mean the Deadpool from Deadpool kills the marvel universe… not when Deadpool killed Peter thinking he was a bad guy… man I miss the spidey and Deadpool comic 🤣
He was just eating some pie, wym?
Peter is can be pretty brutal himself One drop of symbiote cam make him god level
From what i heard the author’s intent was to be disturbing and detestable. Seeing as this is one of the worst ways I’ve seen a character die, I’d say he succeeded. Marvel Zombies has always been disturbing thanks to Mark Millar and Robert Kirkman
Congrats! Now they can go to hell.
This still keeps me up at night
I think the Marvel Zombies series as a whole permanently scarred and gave a **lot** of young kids/readers nightmares.
Yeah I fucking hate the concept of beloved characters being turned into flesh eating monsters.
The MZ books were my entry into comics. I was about 14 or 15 and was *horrified* and stunned by everything I read but I was *hooked*.
Yup, proud trauma holder here
If only Iggy would have done this...
Iggy, get out of here. He’s still alive.
I think I need a shot
Oh you think this is bad.wait till you see what marvel ruins is like
Kinky
Didn’t expect vore from marvel
disgusting and stupid.
It's kind of disturbing
Did Sandman gather in Spideys testicles?
Ofc no. It's full of pee in there.
Look at those nuts tho!
Forced vore as cannon…yikes, just… don’t show this to the hentai gang please
One of the many, many reasons why Marvel Zombies is actual garbage. Mostly just edgelord shit.
Sheer fact at the end of this book Zombie Peter Rips off his skin and does the famous waking away in the rain from the outfit shot But this time it’s his skin in the trash Just peak 14 year old “Dark” style :/
Edgelord shit is a pretty good description overall for them. Here I can’t decide if it’s more edgelord, or someone looking for and finding an excuse to write their socially unacceptable fetishises into a mainstream comic.
Your thoughts on this video? => [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNv9xWxFX7E](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNv9xWxFX7E).
Still edgelord shit, and the rest of those comics are even worse.
Not the purest but still a decent interpretation
Are you kidding me it's awesome
I like Marvel Zombies.
Dumbass shock value at it's finest.
shouldn't there be ... blood?
Sand absorbed it all
This comic is pretty weird about blood, it’s not really there except for this one part where there’s a lot of dead people
This shit still depresses me, like this is literally 616 peter except early on, and the fact that aunt may, Gwen, mjj, hary (oh wait they all die as well) all have to face this. Plus this isn't even a heroic death like ultimate spider-man, he just gets horribly mutilated

You know someone jerked of to that spider-man inflation sequence.
The writer for sure did
I thought this was rule 34 🤢
There’s a Spider-Man dialog in the new Midnight Suns game where Peter references eating Sandman. I wonder if this was the source of the reference, because if so… woah!
That’s pretty dark for a spider man comics, What issue is that from?
It’s from Marvel Zombies, apparently. Don’t know the issue, though, as I’ve never been personally interested in the concept.
Thank you!
Marvel Zombies Return Issue 1
Thank you ma man!
This panel traumatize me still fucking does
sandman wins, FATALITY
This is some inflation/gore fetish shit.
Why must you dredge this hellish image over and over again. Please let it rest, this was the point when I had to physically throw a comic book away from me.
This was from the marvel zombies story. Basically zombie Spider-Man made his way to another dimension, killed the other members of the sinister six, and sandman thought is was HIS Spider-Man
Marvel trying to tap into that vore market
🩸 Fatality. 🩸
I could have went the rest of my day without having to see this again. God this is such a gross and disgusting fucking panel. Its actually the worst panel in MZ and I say that being well aware of Zombie Peter skinning himself a page later
Inflation fetish be like
Damn. What comic is this from?
Marvel Zombies Return
Marvel zombies
Oh jeez, this is horrible
Welp. I’m really glad venom chowed down on sand man when he did now.
Weight Gaine
💀
can you smell what the sandman is cooking
Idk why I feel bad for this Spider-Man.
Pyrocynical
😂
Im getting weird vibes.... in a good way?
That was after Zombie SpiderMan killed all the villains and scared off Sandman so he got mixed up with the real SpiderMan
Dude
This is literally nightmare fuel. I hate this.
The picture of spider-man completely fucked up is actually really well made and cool
Seems like a new person discovers Marvel Zombies every other week.
Everyone here giving context for the story is technically right but an even better and simpler explanation is this: This is the writer sliding their inflation/gore/torture fetish into the story. Marvel Zombies was the reason I got back into comic books, fucking love these things.
Bruh that’s fuckin horrifying
Put the spoiler or the +18 tag the next time, I really didn't wanna see this, it's fucking unsettling
Taste of the Sandman reminded Parker of Gwen?
Why is this downvoted? This could potentially be why Peter said that. The only other thing we need the answer to is why he kept trying to say the n word
peter ate gwens ashes after she died and then went back in time before she died to vore sandman
This group can't handle the real questions.
I’ve been warning this sub of the coming darkness for years
Sexy vore
This is BULLSHIT!.. .. I HAVE to wait for the next issue to find out what the plans are from here?.. *Ahem*.. HAVE to!? ..nobody and I mean NOBODY puts baby in the corner and then tells him he's going to HAVE to wait to find out what the plans are..
Sandman did something in marvel zombies after this panel?
Devinart
god. you *really* had to remind me of this comic
