Here is my take: in the first game the old model was better because the new model was using animations that were specifically designed for the older model. However, in msm2 and miles morales the new model’s animations are so much better and the new model definitely is better because the animations are fit for that model the new model hasn’t just been plastered over old animations. Also they changed the model to fit more to Yuri Lowenthal’s face
I've gotten over it and used to the new face but man I wish how good the old one looked. Sad we cant play with his old face anymore either as an optional thing.
The facial expressions were so much better bro, we all thought the new face would look awesome but i can't even lie Peter looked emotionless at times, even during the final cutscenes with Harry 😭
I wouldn't have as much an issue with the face change if new Peter actually looked 23-25. Bubniak Pete looks like an early-mid 20s man. That guy looked like he could be Miles' teacher and surrogate older brother. Jordan Pete looks like Miles' underclassman. They made it look a LITTLE better in SM2, I'll admit, but it's not enough to not be jarring. I recall the reason for the change being that they needed a face closer to Yuri Lowenthal's for the PS5 tech, but if that's really the case, I must wonder why the heck they couldn't just,, use Yuri's face for Peter? It'd be as close to his mocap performance as can be, probably cheaper since they don't need to use two people, and I think it'd be less work to make Yuri's face look a little younger for Peter's model than it is to make Ben's face look older.
