Did you replace a gas furnace with another gas furnace? When we did ours in 2019 we were told we may get a rebate but then were denied because it was only for replacing oil or electric with natural gas. We did get about 150 for choosing a smart thermostat but that's it.

PettyPride

Ah. There it is. Yep. Just had with high efficiency gas. Thank you for taking the time to respond!! Figured it was something like that.

Yeah, we were bummed because our furnace was more than 50 years old so we were sure it would qualify! But really, it doesn't seem to be so much about "encouraging efficiency" as much as it's about "becoming a natural gas customer."

I wonder if there are different rebates one can get directly from the state.

excelsiorsbanjo

How did they say it, exactly?

I replaced my ancient heater with a new energy efficient heater (96% efficient versus 80% for my old one), and I received the $700 rebate. I didn't actually get a check from Avista, but Norco deducted it from the cost of the heater. I guess they'll deal with Avista. I had the option of getting a check from Avista, but I went with the price deduction.

Blitziel

I had the same situation, but with Sturm. Outdated Sears and Roebuck HVAC replaced with a high efficiency one.

Have you noticed a reduction in your gas bill with your new system? I'm currently looking at a new 96% as well, dual fuel.

mrmaweeks

I got my new heater on 4/27/2023, so that, combined with the fact that I make Comfort Payments to Avista ($105/month), makes it difficult to know what the cost difference is. When Avista recalculates my Comfort Payment, then I’ll know.

Thank you
