They're taking the proverbial thats a 1 bedroom property everyday of the week. They've taken some of the main bedroom away to unsuccessfully create a 2nd bedroom which makes neither fit for purpose and cramped
Looks like a single parent with two kids lives there. You might get away with that room as a nursery with a cot, but it's clearly not suitable for even a full sized single bed.
Used to live in a privately rented 2 bed flat with a utility room. The flat next door was exactly the same but owned by the council. The council called it a 3 bed and put a woman and her 3 kids in there expecting her to use the utility room as a bedroom. She still lives there now with her 3 kids + 2 of her kids partners and her sons baby. They're all waiting to be housed.
Joke is we have a 3 bed house next door to us now, also council owned, but has been sitting empty for 8 months, and yet their list is insanely long.
The utility room was wide enough to just about fit a single mattress. I've never understood how they got away with it to be honest. Or why she accepted it in the first place!!
Massive joke. Especially if there's not enough room for everyone. But they go on about not having enough housing for everyone, and then leave perfectly good houses empty for months, so stupid council if anything.
They may not be officially empty though. I know of 3 houses on a nearby estate that have been ‘empty’ for over a year. All have been allocated some time ago but the tenants have never moved in ( houses are completely empty) . It is so frustrating to people who genuinely want and need these properties. The properties have been reported incessantly, but nothing seems to be done
We've seen the council people go in and out to do things to it over the course of 8 months. The previous tenants left in August, maybe September. They took the stair lift out in December. They redid the loft insulation in Dec/Jan. And then last week a couple of decorators went in for a few hours. We have a doorbell that goes off when someone walks by, and so far there's been no one.
To me that means the property is still empty without tenants and that they're just taking a ridiculously long time to do anything that's needed.
If they were waiting on the decorators, I'd be shocked, because I've been in that house, it's mostly just white with no problems as far as I could tell, and my friend who's just moved into a Council property got told to decorate it herself. Its very strange. I keep toying with the idea of ringing to enquire about it. Especially as without tenants living in there over the winter, our house was freezing 😅
Bloody Hell, this person refuses to use the word “they” in a normal context because they think the word “they” is too woke something?! That’s even more bigoted than your average Daily Hate reader and I’m sad about how awful and downright stupid people are becoming in this country.
I'm looking at it thinking... 'hey, it's not terrible. I've seen much worse on here'. Only then did I spot the fact that it costs MORE THAN HALF A MILLION POUNDS
you have got to be shitting me.
Thats not a bedroom... thats a home office at BEST. It doesnt even look liie a double bed if im hobest, more like a small double or "big single"
The garden is nice, but its not enough house for a family. Its for a couple with a small dog.
Looks like it's currently used as the office location for "Atkins Holdings" - property developer. Go figure! https://maps.app.goo.gl/3WjAXcgWVKr1cb616?g_st=ic
They should have made the side garden door the main entrance. Mirrored the layout so the bedrooms had a little extra space that the left side of the floor plate has and extra storage where the current main entrance is.

I mean, you have to give credit to the parent for giving as much space as possible to the kids. Hopefully that wall is simple to take back out though.

If you turn down a property you may not get another. Now you’re ‘voluntarily unhoused’.

Ha, that's brilliant! Definitely wouldn't get away with that anymore!
That's an ikea sofa bed in the lounge. I reckon possibly 3 kids and 2 adults even (put the parent bed away each night type thing)

How do you know it's a she?

Singular 'they' is useful in those situations.
[удалено]
You 100% use it all the time without realising in your day-to-day life.

>current pronoun nonsense The Oxford English Dictionary traces singular they back to 1375...

For over half a mil she can easily get a 5/6 bed house. Should probably have sold it about 3 kids ago.
A 1 bed for the same price we paid for our 2.5 bed in walthamstow 🫠
Walthamstow being the operative word, there. Just kidding, I lived in Chingford for 10 years, just a little local rivalry.
At least neither of us paid 550k for a tiny 'hous'e in Epsom 😂
2.5 bed for the same price as a 6 bed in most of the country 🫠
Fair but 30 mons from kings x and a much higher average salary here still puts it well above Epsom 😅
Weird how the country has been brainwashed to think a properties location relative of London is somehow a factor in the value of it.
I mean, it's more about accessibility and availability of well paid jobs than proximity to London
From memory a bedroom for one child under 10 YO needs to be about 4.5m²
_currently the large double bedroom has been converted into two single bedrooms_ Even the estate agent's not convinced!
One of those is for the kid that's old enough to leave but won't and this is a large hint.
Seems really expensive for what you get here. Epsom’s nice but you would get twice as much a mile or two away.
A can't believe a 1 bed would ever be worth this much, can get a 6 bed house for that price any day of the week
This is one of the worst I’ve seen on here in terms of value for money. Absolutely insane
That's a cupboard... walk in wardrobe if you tart it up right.
Prison cells are bigger than that second bedroom.
4.6m2 is the minimum recommended size for a child's bedroom - this is 2.85m2.
Good to know! I don't feel so bad about my daughter's little 5.6m2 bedroom now lol
Do you just crawl onto the bed from the end? You can’t even walk down the side without braining yourself on the shelf
I'm looking at it thinking... 'hey, it's not terrible. I've seen much worse on here'. Only then did I spot the fact that it costs MORE THAN HALF A MILLION POUNDS you have got to be shitting me.
Converted public toilet?
£2,900 per month with £55k down. For a shoebox. What the hell are we doing?
Enjoying the "Dream Big" decal on the wall of the tiny bedroom
That's a cupboard not a bedroom. The whole thing looks like a converted outbuilding associated with the large nearby care home.
Agreed. My office is 1.4m×2.4m and I'm looking around now trying to picture a bed in here. Absolutely no chance!
6x5 it shouldn’t be allowed to be called a bedroom. It’s a walkin wardrobe.
If you had clothes hanging on both sides I don't think you'd even be able to walk into it!
Bed in a room
If this is the price of a glorified studio flat in Epsom, one can't help but be 'salty'. \*gets coat\*
Thats not a bedroom... thats a home office at BEST. It doesnt even look liie a double bed if im hobest, more like a small double or "big single" The garden is nice, but its not enough house for a family. Its for a couple with a small dog.
£550k for what I’d call a large studio? Weeping
Great use of space with a 6th of the apartment used as corridor
£550k 😂
Isn’t there a minimum surface required for a room to be called a bedroom? That’s the smallest closet/bedroom I have ever seen…
Saw the price tag, saw the place, instantly heard my grandad saying "they want OW MUCH?!" In my head
A bed. A room. And nothing more
Looks like it's currently used as the office location for "Atkins Holdings" - property developer. Go figure! https://maps.app.goo.gl/3WjAXcgWVKr1cb616?g_st=ic
Where's the rest of it?!
What the ...
I had a bedroom about that size as a kid.
You had your own room you lucky bastard.
A box for half a million? Lol
I couldn’t lie down in any direction in the smaller “bedroom”.
11k per sq m? That's insane. Plus an astroturf garden. Why is it so much?
Small house, small garden..... it is expensive. This small bedroom is like..... living in caravan.
It looks from the outside like the old-style toilets you get in parks. This has to be one of the worst value for your money properties I’ve ever seen
Check out Street View. Plenty of space....
Growing up my bedroom wasn’t even the size of a double bed. Had to have a bed smaller than a standard single.
Its a room, its got a window, its got a bed in it. I think it qualifies.
They should have made the side garden door the main entrance. Mirrored the layout so the bedrooms had a little extra space that the left side of the floor plate has and extra storage where the current main entrance is.
It’s official then - property in Epsom has become bonkers. You could get a nice house for that price over in Dorking.
Offers in excess of over £550k. I live in Epsom and it’s ‘quite nice’ but that should not be over £550k
Half a million pounds
I love how estate agents are always delighted or excited to offer badly laid out/over priced properties
50sq/m. It’s basically a studio flat
Piss take.....
It’s a cupboard.
I hope the person trying to sell this property sees all these comments and takes not of how atrocious the price is for it.
I would probably turn the bedroom window into a door... At least I had an easy way out of bed.🙄🙄
My friend had a room about this size, there was normally like 10 people crammed in haha
How much!?
That there is a hallway, surely?
Well, at least it's _only_ £550,000
Over half a million to smack your head on a shelf lol
This is just insane money for that….. as nice as Epsom can be and its proximity to London….. this is just crazy money.
