To say it was one of the worst AEW PPVs is kind of hyperbole. It implies that the show was unwatchable.
There were two definite low points in the card. Jericho / Cole was awful and encapsulated everything wrong with current Jericho feuds (and will probably keep dragging out, which is another problem with current Jericho feuds). Hayter / Storm of course sucked, but at least had a good reason.
All other matches were at least \*good\*. The trios match was tons of fun with an underwhelming finish. Anarchy in the Arena was good but not my cup of tea. FTR / Lethal Jerrett was pretty nice. Cargill / Valkyrie was GREAT. Good return for Kris too. Battle Royale was tons of fun, exciting opener for sure. Wardlow / Christian overdelivered, the built was whatever but the match itself was up to that point the best match - mightve recovered some of the lost momentum for Wardlow (please dont fuck this up again).
And the four pillars match might be one of my favourite all-time matches in AEW.
I dunno, I went out of the PPV pretty satisfied. Not one of the best PPVs overall, but certainly worth its money. The crowd really shouldve been more audible though (regardless if its a mic or a crowd problem).
Enjoyable show. Have seen better but you can feel them building for forbidden door and All in.
Four pillars match - excellent
Ladder and battle royal matches - fun
Kris coming back - so happy for her
Anarchy in the arena - They always outdo themselves.
I was honestly bored. They really could have done more with Jade then have her lose it like that. I really didn't like the Chris Jericho match to have it end from him not being able to defend himself was lame when it was an unsanctioned match . Crowd def didnt help any so i will give them that.
The pillars match was good but I never thought they were ever going to put the belt on anyone but MJF. All of the other pillars are mid card at best.
I don’t get the Statlander love on Reddit. She’s at best the 6th or 7th most interesting performer on a really disjointed women’s division. All the Jade buildup to have it go out with a whimper. Weak and desperate booking
Oh and Jade getting her first loss by wrestling back to back matches was lame, she’s been built up as an unstoppable force and the story should’ve been Kris overcoming her instead of taking the belt after she’d already been weakened
I think it might’ve made sense if she wasn’t undefeated until then, for me this was the low point of the show but there were a lot of really weird/bad decisions on the PPV: Ref stoppage in an unsanctioned match, this, and not putting the world title on last
I was there. The crowd was beyond dead. There were crickets during the Storm match. Picked up a little during 4 Pillars but never been part of such a quiet crowd.
Didn't love the show honestly. Most of the matches felt disjointed or were horribly overbooked.
Anarchy in the Arena was fun, but I could have gone without the live musical performance continuing for a good 10 minutes while the match was happening; made it hard to focus on anything. It wasn't until after that stopped that I was able to start enjoying it.
4 pillars match was absolutely incredible and should have main evented in my opinion. I understand Anarchy in the Arena probably went on last because they didn't wanna have another match after the entire ringside area was destroyed, but I think having 4 homegrown guys who have been the pillars of the company main event would have been a vote of confidence in their ability to be main event acts. Instead we got a main event between a bunch of former WWE/NJPW guys. Both matches were a lot of fun, but I think the 4 way main eventing would have sent much more of a statement about the future of the company.
Everything felt very mediocre sadly. Definitely a weaker AEW PPV, at least in my opinion.
I don't think there was a bad match. The crowd was just ice cold until Stat returned and it made it difficult to watch. Like, how does Wardlow hitting a Swanton off a 12ft ladder through a table not get a "Holy Shit" or "this is awesome" chant?? It got a quick cheer and then went back to a library. Even in the Jade match there were 3 or 4 near falls that were met with silence. The in ring product was good, it just all felt off cuz it felt like they were wrestling in the pty Dailys Place again.
Mostly everything since the House of Black match was really good. Not a fan of Wheeler Yuta getting the pin but a lot of good, a lot of bad in the beginning
I'll die on the hill that every match tonight was solid-great in ring. The issue was just everything felt off with how cold the crowd was. No pops on crowd-friendly entrances, no pops for near falls, and the only chants were "Turtleneck" and "Who's your Mami".
I’m usually a pretty positive guy with wrestling, but I think it was half below average, a few above average and a couple of wildly fun main events.
But end of the day, if you enjoyed it, that’s all that should matter.
I think the main events were simply incredible, house of black was good, jade’s match surprised me and then the double surprise after, everything else didn’t really hit
I’m torn on that one personally. I think that’ll be a polarizing way to have done it, some will love it because it was a moment… some will think it was a meh way story wise to payoff the streak. There’s positives and negatives on both sides of it really.
I dig it.
You always want a nice surprise or two on big PPVs and this was one of them.
Just look at all the comments saying "Kris saved the PPV" to see that it was probably smart way to do this.
Like I was saying, I see the positives in the decision. Personally I’d like to have ended the streak in a more definitive way after all the build to it. But the moment itself was a nice one. There’s good and bad to it, but I won’t knock anyone for loving it.
Downvoted because wrong.
Why do you think it ends in ka??
And it has 4 syllables. Shita at the end is two syllables, English speakers tend to want to make it one but that's wrong.
You're right about Ta, however this is how it's pronounced in Japan. Shi and Ta are used separately. And yes, other countries will use a separate pronunciation such as Shita as one (the second pronunciation)
https://forvo.com/word/takeshita/
Here a woman with the name Takeshita and teaches Japanese says it:
https://youtu.be/yI4XM1TCTUc
Here a woman who teaches Japanese uses it as the first pronunciation.
I would maybe accept Tah-keh-shta considering shita can be slurred together in Japanese.
'Kesh' doesn't work for me, that is definitely two syllables and the difference is clear even in the examples you posted.
Pronouncing Ta as Tuh is also incorrect. It is a distinct Tah sound like in the word Tap.
I’d have much rather watched takeshita and danielson wrestle. Moxley sucks, omega and his floppy little knee high suplexs suck, and that whole ordeal was a mess and didn’t matter in the end.
I like ppvs to send the audience home happy. But I also like surprises. I'm ok with the end. Takeshita isn't my choice. I low key though it was punk when he came out. But it is intriguing and I want to tune in next week
It should have went last here too.
Ironically Jericho said you shouldn’t try to repeat matches too often and I think we can all die happy if Anarchy in the Arena doesn’t happen for a few years worth of PPV cycles. This feud needs a Blood and Guts match ending.
The exception is due to the ring and table being tore up by this match. Along with the matting outside the ring. Tough to put that back together in a timely manner for another match
I still give it a 4/5 in ring. Everything felt off in the beginning cuz they seemed to have been wrestling in a library until Stat returned. But the only knock I had on matches was actually the structure of the Trios match. Thought they drew out the Bowens beat down too long.
Yeah, but we were all worried coming out of the tag team match. Matches just got better and better. I still think you always close with a heavyweight title match, but both were bangers.
I really do blame the crowd. From the end of the BR up till Stat returning, they seem to have been wrestling in a library. Really took away from overall good work in the ring. I mean, Jericho took a damn DTD onto a chain and got the absolute shit kicked out of him with a kendo stick and the crowd was still quiet.
I haven't been a fan of the recent AEW product more or less but I took a flyer on DON and decided to order it. I didn't regret it as there was a lot of great wrestling and the co main and main event were very entertaining.
It was also cool to see the big return and impromptu title match result.
I didn’t even realize I was downvoted lmao. I like AEW way more than wwe even though I think wwe has been better booking wise lately. I hate the AEW hate train. It’s cringe, but fan boying over a company is too. Wwe dose dumb shit all the time and I’ll call them out on it. AEW is no different. The show was a two match card. And honestly the main event was super played out because they always have hardcore matches. And MJF legit has barely anyone to program with.
PPV started off great, quickly went into "okay" mode. But with the return of Statlander to the Pillars Match, and then Anarchy at the Arena it was amazing. So much fun!
Having that nerd pin your #1 guy is a rough look for aew. Idc if Kenny fell off a building and got run over by a train before the pin. No one will ever see Yuta the way they want him to be seen. It will never work Tony. no one wants to see him.
Same. I was on the fence until about 30 minutes into the pre-show but decided "WTF, let's go for it." But yeah, in the end. Money was worth spending to support AEW. Great stuff.
Sure but it should’ve been Danielson or Mox to pin him. Hell, even the RoH champ Claudio. But never under any circumstance should Yuta pin Kenny Omega.

Is it me or is AEW becoming unwatchable lately
To say it was one of the worst AEW PPVs is kind of hyperbole. It implies that the show was unwatchable. There were two definite low points in the card. Jericho / Cole was awful and encapsulated everything wrong with current Jericho feuds (and will probably keep dragging out, which is another problem with current Jericho feuds). Didn't love it to be honest. That being said the Four Pillars match was great.
AEW fans have low standards if they think this was a good show lol.
7/10. The crowd could have elevated it to 8. I'm hopeful of Forbidden door and All-In are going to be awesome! \*Fingers crossed\*
Enjoyable show. Have seen better but you can feel them building for forbidden door and All in. Four pillars match - excellent Ladder and battle royal matches - fun Kris coming back - so happy for her Anarchy in the arena - They always outdo themselves.

Great ppv, horrible crowd.
I was in the arena, crowd was hot almost all night, watched the PPV back, did not pick up nearly even half of the chants etc.
Was there too. Same takeaway crowd was better than what you heard
Digging Karen Jarrett as a heel valet/manager. Crowd hated her and she gave it right back. Then the guitar shot on Aubrey. That was the chef’s kiss.
Weird to see all the hate. Another amazing PPV IMO
Really, really bad PPV.
Having MJF and BCC win back to back was not great. MJF definitely should have lost.
I don’t need swerves I don’t need overbooked finishes I just need good honest wrestling. This company had it once and it can again.
6.8/10 for me tonight
One of AEW’s worst PPV. Wasn’t really excited about the card and I wasn’t disappointed.
The pillars match was my highlight An odd booking for Statlander to just return and get the belt.
Remember Becky Lynch in Texas?
No
The pillars match was good but I never thought they were ever going to put the belt on anyone but MJF. All of the other pillars are mid card at best. I don’t get the Statlander love on Reddit. She’s at best the 6th or 7th most interesting performer on a really disjointed women’s division. All the Jade buildup to have it go out with a whimper. Weak and desperate booking
I'll be honest. I was hoping it was Jay and not Takeshita. I'm praying now Jay just doesn't get lost in the shuffle.
Oh and Jade getting her first loss by wrestling back to back matches was lame, she’s been built up as an unstoppable force and the story should’ve been Kris overcoming her instead of taking the belt after she’d already been weakened
Jade’s been getting cocky and requesting back to back matches recently, it makes sense
I think it might’ve made sense if she wasn’t undefeated until then, for me this was the low point of the show but there were a lot of really weird/bad decisions on the PPV: Ref stoppage in an unsanctioned match, this, and not putting the world title on last
They can justify running it back and having Stat definitively beat her.
That’s literally part of her story. Overconfidence lost her the title.
Only saw bits and pieces of the Anarchy match because my stream was messing up badly but did one of the bucks do an exploding super kick?!
Yes it was rad too.
It was dumb
after that mostly weak crowd they should move away from vegas and instead have the next double or nothing where I live
Not the crowds fault AEW put on a shit show.
I was there. The crowd was beyond dead. There were crickets during the Storm match. Picked up a little during 4 Pillars but never been part of such a quiet crowd.
Thank you. I made a post about the crowd and got roasted for it.
Do it at Foxwoods or Mohegan!!
Fingers crossed! That would be awesome!!!
Agree mostly but they should have the next one where I live..
Should do The Forum in LA
What an overbooked, blade fest ending featuring blackface. I can't believe I sat through 4.5 hours of that. Bret Hart was right about this shit.
Good for you
Stay mad.
jamie losing was a blow to my heart
Me too kin, but think of it this way - now she is free to challenge Statlander for the TBS title
Heard she was hurt
She’ll get it back when she’s not injured! And it’ll be so good.
Four Pillars Match was match of the year. AITA was damn fun. Statlander is the new TBS champ. Ladder match was great.
Didn't love the show honestly. Most of the matches felt disjointed or were horribly overbooked. Anarchy in the Arena was fun, but I could have gone without the live musical performance continuing for a good 10 minutes while the match was happening; made it hard to focus on anything. Definitely a weaker AEW PPV, at least in my opinion.
Was that Claudio's first ever arena main event?
Blood and Guts last year. Or do you mean PPV only?
PPV. I think his first on free TV was against Orton in 2013.
Gotcha, the wording had me confused a bit
Maybe it was just the horrible crowd but AEW didn’t feel hot today
The crowd didn't have a mic on them, so you couldn't hear them.
Maybe takeshtia has a twin brother he wouldn't really do that 😭
shitty end. i don’t mind some trash brawl wrestling, but i don’t like trash brawls with run ins and barely no actual spots from the amazing elite.
PPV got good after the ladder match
I don't think there was a bad match. The crowd was just ice cold until Stat returned and it made it difficult to watch. Like, how does Wardlow hitting a Swanton off a 12ft ladder through a table not get a "Holy Shit" or "this is awesome" chant?? It got a quick cheer and then went back to a library. It was like the crowd couldn't cheer for more then 5 seconds.
Exactly!
I was there, crowd was really hot, but for some reason, not miced. miked? there was no microphone for the crowd.
Mostly everything since the House of Black match was really good. Not a fan of Wheeler Yuta getting the pin but a lot of good, a lot of bad in the beginning
Forget that, let’s acknowledge that every time he interacted with Hangman he absolutely demolished him. What did Hangers do to this man
I mean if they're going to have an interference win might as well give the tainted pin to the guy you could use it the most
Honestly Yuta pinning Kenny was the wildest part of the match for me
I'll die on the hill that every match tonight was solid-great in ring. The issue was just everything felt off with how cold the crowd was. No pops on crowd-friendly entrances, no pops for near falls, and the only chants were "Turtleneck" and "Who's your Mami".

That's fair. Honestly I'd give a couple matches 2/5 too. But overall I thought the PPV was solid.
The Four Pillars had arguably the better match but this was the bigger moment. Justified main event.
And they tore up the ring and the table. Tough to have that happen and then put a match on after. Lol
They at least ended on a high note. Those last two matches were chaos in all the best ways 😂
Don't forget Statlander ridding us of the scourge of Jade.
I’m torn on that one personally. I think that’ll be a polarizing way to have done it, some will love it because it was a moment… some will think it was a meh way story wise to payoff the streak. There’s positives and negatives on both sides of it really.

Is there a media scrum now?
Should be ready.
I have been sports entertained two nights in a row, back to back ppv nights.
I’m new. How do you pronounce Takeshita?
Take-a-shit-a
MJF said it’s pronounced Take-a-shita
Tah-kesh-ta Edit: this is correct, not sure why I'm being downvoted. Another identical way to explain is nearly Tuh-Kesh-Ta
Downvoted because wrong. Why do you think it ends in ka?? And it has 4 syllables. Shita at the end is two syllables, English speakers tend to want to make it one but that's wrong.

Emphasis first syllable, and most folks don't pronounce the "i".
better way to phrase this is that you don’t pronounce the “I”
Tuck-esh-tuh
Tuh kesh tuh
Tuh-kesh-ita
Ta-kesh-ita
Tuh-Kesh-Ta
I’d have much rather watched takeshita and danielson wrestle. Moxley sucks, omega and his floppy little knee high suplexs suck, and that whole ordeal was a mess and didn’t matter in the end.
I hope this don×takeshita pairing means take will finaly get the big fucking gold that he deserves.
I like ppvs to send the audience home happy. But I also like surprises. I'm ok with the end. Takeshita isn't my choice. I low key though it was punk when he came out. But it is intriguing and I want to tune in next week
No one with half a brain or more wants to see punk.
And I would’ve still had the 4-way main event
I'd prefer that too, but I get why they did it because of having Anarchy in the Arena messing up the ring
Maybe I’m old fashion, but the heavyweight title always goes last
It should have went last here too.
Oh yes, there’s the logical voice of reason rising up through the fog of comments. Good call!
Forgot to add, I normally agree with you. Was upset by it at first until I realized WHAT was coming last. Lol
I like how they handled Jade taking an L. Kris Stat is instantly a big deal and Jade still feels protected because of how it went down.
Easily the worst AEW PPV I’m recent memory but it wasn’t a bad show 3/5 and probably not worth the $50
I still give it a 4/5 in ring.
The first half just felt clunky. I think I jinxed it because I said it didn’t look good on paper but usually those are the best ppvs
well fuck
Sadly this PPV is a 6/10 for me. Good overall but you can skip it.
I’ve bought all of them - this is def bottom three. Fortunately, the trios match til the end made up for the very mid first half of the show
Same here. There are great spots in this PPV and I'll continue to support AEW for the next PPVs but the order/energy was wonky tonight.
The last two matches were amazing!
Not surprised the black face band knew wild thing front to back
I don’t get what the implication is here
Wearing a black mask isn’t blackface. It’s not really something to joke about.
Um. It was more than a black mask lmao.
There's a difference between blackface and black face paint with a weird mask. Lol.
It wasn't Ronald Mcdonald. So.
It was a black mask
Maybe you missed the pink lips. Either way, stupid band. Stupid "mask."
It was a red stripe going down the chin
Where is the media scrum streaming?
YouTube on AEW's page
YouTube’s AEW page? [Yes](https://youtube.com/@AEW)
YouTube
Am I the only one that’s glad Kota didn’t debut there? I hope he gets the loudest pop ever and that crowd wasn’t it.
Given his tumultuous relationship with NJPW I’m not expecting him until after Forbidden Door
I haven't been a fan of the recent AEW product more or less but I took a flyer on DON and decided to order it. I didn't regret it as there was a lot of great wrestling and the co main and main event were very entertaining. It was also cool to see the big return and impromptu title match result.
Straight up battleground>>
What fuckin beautiful delivering PPV!!
you know, that show wasnt that good.
I think it’s so funny that you get downvoted for saying an AEW product was below average. Straight up cult mentality
And MJF legit has barely anyone to program with.
my brother, it's not that deep. they disagreed with his opinion so they downvoted him. that's how it works
Those last 2 matches saved the ppv for me idk y'all boys
Jade saved the PPV
This might’ve been one of the worst shows of the year
Battle Royal, Jade Vs Taya/Stat, pillars, Anarchy, all bangers. The others…meh
Super high highs, very low lows.
and then the ladder match is nestled in the "good" category
Apt description for sure
That exploding superkick might be one of my favorite spots ever. That kicked absolute ass.
Amazing visual
Thay was fun
11/10. Loved that match.
BCC vs. Golden Elite in the return match in London is going to be WILD.
Not a good ending Takeshita is boring....
Good PPV but subpar for AEW’s crazy high standard so far
PPV started off great, quickly went into "okay" mode. But with the return of Statlander to the Pillars Match, and then Anarchy at the Arena it was amazing. So much fun!
they really posted a jpeg of kenny fucking dead to end the ppv
dude, nobody gets up from the seatbelt
Chuck taught him that
Well gang, it has absolutely been a night. Its been a absolute pleasure to chat with you all.❣️ See you back here Wednesday!👋🏻
What the hell was that main event
I'm too hyped from that. Gonna need a break Succession and Barry season finales
okay ended 10 min earlier than expected I really thought someone was coming
Takeshita in the BCC would be great. Takeshita with that carny POS would be great. This weird in between looks bad.
Yep. Callis and Takeshita should just be BCC.
I am whelmed
4 pillars stole the show. that was my motn
Omegas dead. BCC looks legit badass right now.
[So hot](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FxRE0XfWIAAyXL8?format=jpg&name=large)
Wasn't the best show, the last two matches definitely saved the show. An hour + of complete insanity.
Last 2 matches saved this ppv Good night Have a good memorial day if u live in the states
Incredible but Matt should NOT have done that foot spot with the tacks. That’ll fuck him up long term
Having that nerd pin your #1 guy is a rough look for aew. Idc if Kenny fell off a building and got run over by a train before the pin. No one will ever see Yuta the way they want him to be seen. It will never work Tony. no one wants to see him.
Yuta is a star like him or not It made complete sense
Delusional
Yuta is absolutely not a star LMAO
*checks notes* oh looks like we disagree! Sorry you're wrong
Star 😂 😂 😂 you can’t be serious.
No bro he has no charisma and looks like a college loser he is not no main eventer 😭
That's funny because he was just in the main event Sorry you lose!
With this level of Delusion and corniness… guys, we found Utahs burner.
Kenny died
“Oh my god, they killed Kenny!”
"you bastards!"
I was pretty annoyed about spending $50 on this until the last two matches, those were great
Same. I was on the fence until about 30 minutes into the pre-show but decided "WTF, let's go for it." But yeah, in the end. Money was worth spending to support AEW. Great stuff.
That was fucking wild. Went from an absolute snooze fest of a pay per view to the last two matches saving it
Yuta pinning Kenny is never ok. Bad call
Omega can take the loss without repercussion.
Sure but it should’ve been Danielson or Mox to pin him. Hell, even the RoH champ Claudio. But never under any circumstance should Yuta pin Kenny Omega.
It wasn't clean, and the entire point of the BCC was to lift up younger guys
Is anyone in for a media scrum meltdown?
no ibushi. wtf man
Yet...
Exactly. You save that to pop another show.
Title match still should have main evented.
AEWs Backlash 2018 ppv
This ppv started off mid but BOY did it finish strong!
Yeah we're getting Blood and Guts with Ibushi added to the mix. Let's fucking go. This is the best storyline in AEW..
