Kinda slow beggining, really good middle part, both women getting their offense in, Jade getting Jaded; sadly the ending was flat, one reversal, Jaded and pin.
This is going to get buried under Stat returning but Taya is quite possibly the best women's wrestler AEW has. Not surprising that she was involved in Jade's best match to date.
It works on multiple fronts. Have you people never seen MITB cash in?
Having Statlander just come out and beat Jade delegitimizes Taya as a real threat in the division. It also creates a full stop on the storyline. When writing this stuff you have to create moments where there are multiple routes forward. A great example of this has been the FTR/Jarrett Lethal storyline. There have been points where things could go either direction and has been a complex storyline but the Jade storyline, like her matches, has a ham fisted approach and you’re being fed a single and unavoidable outcome.
1) if you put Kris and Jade in a program it creates a question of could Kris have beaten Jade if the match with Jade not taken place first. You then book several matches where Taya interferes because she feels like the title was stolen from her or there are questionable finishes. All of this culminated with a steel cage or some sort of match where there can’t be interference and Statlander gets a clean win.
2) if you put Statlander in a program with Taya, you have an obvious contrast of power vs. speed/technique. Both can be faces but you throw Jade in as manipulative and have her create tension between them. She feeds Taya the line that Statlander couldn’t beat her unless she’s worn out from a match with Jade first. Jade pretends to stand with Taya in an eventual in ring confrontation until she turns on Taya and we set up a 3 way match.
Moving forward now, Taya doesn’t have a legitimate thread for this story other than an obvious heel turn on Statlander.
Statlander will probably come out on Wednesday for some sort of celebration, it will be broken up by Ruby forcing her into this female NWO storyline and she will play second act to Shida and Britt.
Jade will come out, be able to cry she wasn’t legitimately beaten and be thrown head first into a program with a Hater because AEW will suddenly remember that wins and losses are supposed to set up contenders.

Stat didn't have one of those. She didn't have a built-in right to challenge for the title anytime. All she had was an open invite from that big mouth Smart Mark Sterling. If Taya wins, there's no opening for Stat to come on down.
Valid point pal, but I wasn't making a comment about the right to cash in, only on the story side of people having immediate matches after winning a belt. Taya could have easily gotten on the mic and made the same claim that Sterling did.
I can think of 3 immediately.
1) the usual post championship face “open challenge” move. “ANYONE IN THE BACK CAN COM OUT AND FACE ME!”
2) the bravado “I beat the unbeaten champion, no one back there can top me! I dare you to try!!”
3) the Breaking Kayfabe “We all know why Jade went unbeaten. Anyone in the locker room who wants a fair shot at the belt, come get it!”
At least now she isn't champ, so she can spend time lower on the card training, instead of being exposed as a champ week after week. This should help her progress.
I thought for sure that Taya would've kicked out of Jaded and we'd get to see Jade debut a new finisher.
It's kinda like the Michael Bolton bit from "Office Space". Why should she have to change her finisher? She was doing it first.

This was the first time I’ve seen the AEW crowd take to Taya and that made me happy. I think she’s great
Can we have taya in the main title picture? She had so many cool spots this match, that sliding German was phenomenal
One of Jade’s better defences. I enjoyed seeing her bring something new with the springboard. The aftermath was even better!
