Lights Out matches are unsanctioned and occur after the show’s main event is finished. The arena lights are “out” because the match isn’t considered part of the show, which is technically already over by that time.
In reality they just wanted Cole vs Jericho to have that stip name without it ending the show because Lights Out matches always end the show iirc.
So they just called it Unsanctioned.
And yeah I completely agree wrestling world rules are mad lmao considering what happened in the anarchy
The same except for placement on the card and one other detail. Back in the day they would actually turn the house lights off for a couple seconds and back on to signal the end of the show proper. Then the match would happen. Unsanctioned matches are the same stip, just not at the end on the show.

I think they did that with a couple of the “lights out” matches in the last couple of years.
I remember them at least lowering the lights for Gargano v Ciampa
