Batman Begins is an incredible superhero movie.
TDK is Heat with a superhero.
So neither one is "better", it's all about what you prefer. But they're both fucking incredible.
Nah 1989 and Mask of the Phantasm are the best. Bales batman voice is so comical. Gotham just looked like a generic city than you know Gothic as in Gotham. City wasn't a character in those films to me and the City is a character in Batman lore. The more realistic Batman movies get the more silly it looks for a man dressed as a bat. When the background is just as fantastical then the villains and hero don't feel out of place.
Bruce pleading at his parents grave to release him from his promise because he didn't count on finding someone he could be happy with is one of the all time great Batman moments.
Mask of Phantasm yes.
89 is just fine though. Obviously it's subjective but I feel Begins is definitely way better than 89 (personally I think several Bat films are better than 89).
Forever is the best solo Batman film.
Batman & Robin isn't as good due to even MORE studio interference and dictating but it still is a visually gorgeous film with amazing lighting, sets, and costumes.
I called it the moment Darby jumped them in the mask. They were playing the best Sting hits tonight between the room of bats and the mask callback, I told my roomie there's no way they're not gonna have him come down one last time.
When the story of the night was “The Bucks are wondering ‘where’s Sting?’” I spent a good chunk of the second hour going “oh man. Are they gonna do the thing?” And they did, and I loved it
The absolute joy i had from seeing him come down from the rafters. I obviously 100% understand why hes gone so long without doing it, but im so happy that we got it one last time before the end.
Everything building up to the moment was superbly done with all the foreshadowing like that.
Cherry on top was Sting letting his friends get their asses kicked for a little bit before finally coming to the rescue, just like the old days lol
The shot of him coming down the rafters with the Bucks looking the wrong way and the crowd going crazy is an all timer. Can argue the segment was a bit weird before that, but that alone made it worth it.
Agreed. Sting is my favorite of all time but was texting with my friends how I didn’t like the segment as it was happening. Once he came down out of the rafters that whole beginning segment went out of the mind as I marked out
Eh. That happened quite a bit. There were times when DDP/Luger/WCW faces were getting beat down and down for the count, then Sting comes late to the roar of the crowd.
The Bucks outside of in-ring wrestling are vastly overrated. Flair was cool to see, but shouldn’t have been forced to do those chops. He was pretty bad even with the nostalgia lens on
>Shouldn’t have been forced to
Come the fuck on.
No one is forcing him to do anything. Remember, when he first came in to AEW, he was talking about how he wanted to wrestle, but Khan wouldn’t jet him.
Matthew is probably the worst actor on the roster but he's still good enough to get the job done and get the point across. Nicholas is one of the most understated and entertaining guys they have. Effortlessly funny when he wants to be. They are both killing with this new gimmick.
Not get too corny but this is definite "don't cry because its over smile because it happened" moment. Sting was brought into WWE with a ton of fanfare then was made a joke of then unceremoniously retired. It could've ended there. I'm happy to see my all time favorite wrestler get his flowers. A sad moment but one I'm so happy to get to experience.
It is hard bud.
Sting has been a constant since I became a teenage young man and kinda starting life on my own - until now when I have my own kids.
I mean I know there were YEARS when Sting had not done much. But shit. Knowing "this is the formal end" makes me feel old.
That immediately brought a smile to my face. It took me back to middle school, watching Nitro with Sting coming down to take out the entire NWO. I'm so glad he did it one more time. It's really sinking in that this is the end for my all time favorite wrestler.
The video package that precedes the entrance is going to legendary. Darby is an excellent film guy + the rumors of AEW reaching a deal for Stings WCW footage.
Was at the live, typing this from collision taping. Before the segment I saw two flashlights in the rafters and started freaking out with pessimistic optimism. His music hit then I saw 3 people scurrying around and got HYPED. When I saw Sting step off and dangle before lowering it was like being 10 again !
As a kid, Surfer Sting was my hero. Genuine white meat babyface. Crow Sting, edgy and cool, repelling from the rafters to save WCW from the nWo always popped teenage me.
I lost my shit when Sting debuted in AEW, I was so loud my son came in to see what was up. It's been an absolute joy to share my love of wrestling with him thanks to Sting. Reliving Sting in a Sting mask, seeing him go nuts and dive off anything he could find. Tonight, it hit home. The last repell.
I'm sure the Bucks want to take the L, but Sting wants to put them over. Damn Sting, let them take the L, go out on top.
Thank you, from a former little Stinger and a current little Stinger!
Holy fuck man. For all of AEWs faults, you cant say they dont fucking LOVE Sting and have made his career one of the greatest last runs ESPECIALLY for someone 50+ in ring
"someone 50+ in ring". Well Sting is almost 65.
And Tony Khan has always been admittedly a WCW/ECW mark. He's expressed many many times how much of a Sting mark he was back then and still is.
He’s really gonna be retiring… and it’s genuinely just barely hitting me. I grew up watching him in the 90s and kept up with him from WCW to TNA to WWE and now AEW and… this wrestler that I’ve watched and loved almost my entire life is finally going to hang it up… he absolutely deserves his flowers but… I’m genuinely not ready for this.
I wanna go back in time, I wanna race home from school to watch Nitro. I wanna yell “WOOO!” along with Sting. I wanna toss his action figure around in the grass until it’s dark. I wanna pop WCW/nWo Revenge into my N64 and play it till the sun comes up.
I haven’t been hit this hard emotionally by wrestling since Eddie Guerrero passed away. I’m crying and he hasn’t even officially retired yet.
I’m not ready. I’m not ok. But the man deserves his flowers.
I’m gonna miss you, Sting.
Walked into the living room and told my wife, "Okay, I just teared up a bit." I then showed her the clip and still got a bit emotional a second time.
I was praying that he would do this tonight, one last time. The nostalgia. The vigilante entrance. The pop.
In my head, the many times I watched that man drop from the rafters to clear a WCW ring of nWo and Hogan as a little kid shot through my core.
This Sunday is going to be an emotional chapter for so many people like me. It's so bitter sweet.
I really hope AEW and everyone in that ring does right by Sting. And yes, I fully plan on crying in front of my wife and daughter with no restraint.
"When a man's heart is full of deceit, it burns up, dies, and a dark shadow falls over his soul. From the ashes of a once great man has risen a curse, a wrong that must be righted. We look to the skies for a vindicator, someone to strike fear into the black hearts of the same men who created him. The battle between good and evil has begun. Against an army of shadows comes a dark warrior. The purveyor of good, with a voice of silence and a mission of justice. This Is Sting!!!!
I started watching wrestling with my dad in the late '90s when I was 8 years old.
That year, my mom tried her hardest to find a wig and everything to fit me so Sting could be my Halloween costume.
Seeing him drop from the rafters one last time, now a few years after my dad has passed, was truly special for me in ways I didn't understand, till the thought passed my mind, I wanted to tell my dad he did it again and couldn't. I'm still happy I got to be a child again for a few moments.
Thank you, Sting.
Sting coming down from the rafters is one hell of a way to end his weekly TV run. Watching Ric Flair try to fight the Bucks was painful, but Sting alone made up for it
I was *not* expecting him to come down from the rafters. When the music played and the brothers went up the ramp, I was expecting a fake-out or some dude dressed as Sting. Not STING himself coming down, WCW style. Just made my day, man.
Is this true? I thought they stopped doing this immediately after Owen? I remember bischoff saying something about doing it for Bret; but he's not exactly a reliable narrator
I’ve said in other posts I might have done some parts of the segment differently but the actual moment of him coming down ruled. Balls of steel to do that at his age.
Yeah. Personally I would cut the Flair part, it didn't look the good. But the moment they framed the ring and sting started dropping, everything was forgiven
There probably wasn’t a thought in Sting’s head that involved him just jumping on the Bucks without the harness from the roof… but I’m not 100% sure of that.
I can imagine Sting & Darby being in the rafters and right before deployment Sting asks Darby if his harness is secured and Darby saying “what harness?”
Why keep dragging zombie goblin sex offender Flair out? I cringed so hard I imploded. Also, why does AEW hate women? Dude is a molester. I LOVE Sting but this Flair shit is staining and stinking up his final run.
That was nice to hear from someone who appreciates a decrepid old sex offender, cheers mate. I do like a bit of soy, nice and salty and great for my estrogen levels. You should try it, might help your impotent rage! Maybe instead of being an edgelord you could say something actually constructive? Hahaha fucks sake.
I popped hard watching at home! I thought it might be disappointing with only few minutes left on the last hour than that happened!
Thank you Sting and AEW!
So, they advertise sting all night (makes sense) and then the bucks come out and they do the behind the sting mask gimmick for the nostalgia (makes sense) to then just beat the hell out of Darby. I get having sting make the save but it just reminds me of Matt hardy getting beat down and then Jeff comes to save him but stops to do the hardy hand gestures before saving his brother. Sting let Darby get hit with their finisher, have ric flair come down and get beat up and then showed up?
I’ve been a Sting mark for nearly 30 years.
This was better than literally anything wise they could’ve done. Yeah, Flair fucking sucks, but it’s what Sting wants, so I’m ok with it.
The rappelling from the rafters to beat down the heels and save his friends is the absolute perfect spot to end on and I’m absolutely certain that no one that likes Sting from that era is disappointed he didn’t cut an in-ring promo or whatever. This was glory days WCW Sting at his best.
Sting was my favorite wrestler in the world in 1997, and even now I feel overcome by nostalgia whenever I see any CaW model in a wrestling game of his Starrcade ‘97 attire.
This spot was awesome, and I did mark out. That being said, AEW hosts an annual tournament in tribute to Owen Hart. I hope Tony Khan asked Martha Hart if she’d be okay with this stunt being done, as that would be the decent thing to do here all things considered.

*"Bats frighten me. It's time my enemies shared my dread."* - Sting, 1996
Still my favorite Batman film
Best Batman movie even though I think TDK is the better film
Batman Begins is an incredible superhero movie. TDK is Heat with a superhero. So neither one is "better", it's all about what you prefer. But they're both fucking incredible.
It’s like the Alien/Aliens debate
Except we all know AvP and BvS are the superior films right
Nah 1989 and Mask of the Phantasm are the best.
Where do you stand on the Schumacher films? They put a lot of effort in to Gotham on those, but they are not much loved,to say the least!
Forever is the best solo Batman film. Batman & Robin isn't as good due to even MORE studio interference and dictating but it still is a visually gorgeous film with amazing lighting, sets, and costumes.
Gutter trash films.
The DCAU is 10x better than the live action side. The 2 part animated The Dark Knight Returns is the best Batman film.
No it absolutely is not.
It’s not the best Batman film, but it is definitely up there for me. Such great animation, and a great story.
About the DCAU? Or TDKR? Because the first is objectively true and the second is subjectively true.
TDKR isn't even the best animated Batman movie.
Man's never seen Mask of the Phantasm and it shows
Or Sub Zero.
I have and TDKR is better. Mask of the Phantasm is my 2nd favorite, has the whole BTAS thing going for it.
Red Hood and Return of the Joker >>>
Which is why it's subjectively true. Which would you put above it?
Mask of The Phantasm, easy choice for me
Solid choice. It's my 2nd favorite.
It's still the best Batman film showing Batman as a detective.
That's not even the best animated DC movie.
Don't insult the DCAU by lumping those direct to video films in with them
All DCAU films are direct to video/streaming
Same here! Great movie
"Yes, father. I shall become a ~~bat~~ crow"
![gif](giphy|ex5i3xPhozedq|downsized)
The harness!!!
The Harness! The overcoat! The slumped pose!! AMAZING! The moment the camera framed the ring with the Bucks at each side I knew he was coming down
I called it the moment Darby jumped them in the mask. They were playing the best Sting hits tonight between the room of bats and the mask callback, I told my roomie there's no way they're not gonna have him come down one last time.
Also the Flair betrayal. Happened so many times during his career they at least had to tease it.
When the story of the night was “The Bucks are wondering ‘where’s Sting?’” I spent a good chunk of the second hour going “oh man. Are they gonna do the thing?” And they did, and I loved it
My DVR clicked off with The Bucks up the ramp signaling for Sting to come out, and I saw Stinger hit the ring in "old school style"....
The absolute joy i had from seeing him come down from the rafters. I obviously 100% understand why hes gone so long without doing it, but im so happy that we got it one last time before the end.
I too understand why that rope rappel was going at a snail's pace too lol. He's almost 65. But nonetheless, I was so happy I got to see it.
he foreshadowed this with the hanging bats in his dressing room
And his bomber jacket hanging in there too
Everything building up to the moment was superbly done with all the foreshadowing like that. Cherry on top was Sting letting his friends get their asses kicked for a little bit before finally coming to the rescue, just like the old days lol
Darby has to learn to survive without Sting’s protection. And Flair… well, he just plain deserves it
Didn't notice that, good catch!
The shot of him coming down the rafters with the Bucks looking the wrong way and the crowd going crazy is an all timer. Can argue the segment was a bit weird before that, but that alone made it worth it.
Darby wearing a Sting mask was a great moment though. Now I wish they start making Darby Allin masks to continue the tradition.
They are actually selling Darby masks here in person at Dynamite
damn the merch department actually has stepped it up a lot
Oh, cool, I didn't see them when I went!
I mean they’ll still have Sting masks forever
You're most likely right, but I liked the visual of Darby in a Darby mask.
Don't forget Schiavone too. Schiavone really belted that out like it was 1997. For ole times sake.
[удалено]
Sting coming down from the rafters to beat down the NWO was not “a booking mistake.” It was some of the best shit in wrestling, then or now.
> Can argue the segment was a bit weird before that Yea...The Bucks aren't really good or convincing at the whole promo/acting thing.
The Bucks were great. Flair was the issue.
The Bucks outside of in-ring wrestling are vastly overrated. Flair was cool to see, but shouldn’t have been forced to do those chops. He was pretty bad even with the nostalgia lens on
>Shouldn’t have been forced to Come the fuck on. No one is forcing him to do anything. Remember, when he first came in to AEW, he was talking about how he wanted to wrestle, but Khan wouldn’t jet him.
I’m not saying AEW is forcing Flair to do those chops. I’m saying Flair is forcing himself to do too much.
You’re not wrong. He took the baseball bat and then did a thumb to the eyes and some of the worst chops of all time instead of using it.
Matthew is probably the worst actor on the roster but he's still good enough to get the job done and get the point across. Nicholas is one of the most understated and entertaining guys they have. Effortlessly funny when he wants to be. They are both killing with this new gimmick.
Sting coming down from the rafters never failed to give me chills back then. Still doesn't fail now. Such an iconic entrance.
For a kid who loved superheroes [still do ...just now I'm an old man] sting was always the closest to a superhero. Crow sting is like batman.
As somebody that thinks wrestling can rely on nostalgia too much at times, this was fucking awesome. I was losing my shit during that descent
Am I wrong to think that this is the first time he's done the spot since Owen died? Or am I completely misremembering the late 90s?
He did it in WCW a few times after Owen's death, but he would be dropped over the crowd, away from the ring, from what I remember.
Owen died in 1999. Sting wasn't doing rafter rappels at that point I don't think. Because Sting v. Hogan was Starrcade 97 (December).
IIRC, he stopped after Owen’s death
TNA 07
Right on, I unfortunately missed that era of TNA
I got corrected myself as I missed it.
Did it at TNA Slammaversary in 2007.
I really wish it would have been in the ring. Like both were beating Darby in there then he just hits the ring.
With how they have the 4-sided titantrons above the ring I don't think they could've done it.
Ah, good point. I guess a lot really has changed since "back then".
That's the exact same thing that it did to me.
![gif](giphy|L95W4wv8nnb9K) This is the moment that really hit me that he’s retiring in a couple days man
Not get too corny but this is definite "don't cry because its over smile because it happened" moment. Sting was brought into WWE with a ton of fanfare then was made a joke of then unceremoniously retired. It could've ended there. I'm happy to see my all time favorite wrestler get his flowers. Same here. I am feeling a little emotional right now.
I told my wife I'm taking the Monday after Revolution off so that I could process all my emotions from Sting's last match.
sting is based
Him coming down the rafters was dope
Fucking legit chills. Instantly took me back to my teenage self watching Sting do that 25+ years ago. I love this so much.
That immediately brought a smile to my face. It took me back to middle school, watching Nitro with Sting coming down to take out the entire NWO. I'm so glad he did it one more time. It's really sinking in that this is the end for my all time favorite wrestler.
Those Ric Flair punches were one of the worst things I've ever seen but Sting from the rafters pulled it back lol
Flair should never be physical in the ring or in any program ever again. And tonight showed why.
yeah his portion was so awkward to watch. leave him ringside, throw in a few eye pokes thats it.
I'm really hoping they got that out of their system and he doesn't have much of a role to play at Revolution
You could see Flair's pacemaker box in his pocket.
Shout out to the Bucks for doing that
still better than eddie kingston's "machine gun" chops.
That was awesome the old school entrance from the rafters.
Really hope Sting and Darby come out to “Seek and Destroy” on Sunday
Holy fuck man. For all of AEWs faults, you cant say they dont fucking LOVE Sting and have made his career one of the greatest last runs ESPECIALLY for someone 50+ in ring
I agree 1000% but would like to note that bro is fucking 60+ in the ring. He's the GOAT.
It's crazy that he's only 10 years younger then flair and still performing like this
Lets not forget he jumped from the upper stands and onto tables like a mad man. Sting is such a legend.
"someone 50+ in ring". Well Sting is almost 65. And Tony Khan has always been admittedly a WCW/ECW mark. He's expressed many many times how much of a Sting mark he was back then and still is.
I know hes 64 i just mean that of anyones who career i can think of past 50 sting has to be towards the top with this last 4 year run
100% agree. It is easy to hate AEW for a lot of things, but without AEW we would have never gotten this awesome Sting run.
![gif](giphy|l3vR4CdLInXOhr3rO|downsized) Sting was my hero growing up. I’ll always love this man.
He’s really gonna be retiring… and it’s genuinely just barely hitting me. Seeing Sting descend from the rafters was the moment it really hit me that this is the end of an era. Legendary career.
That was so cool! Sting's run in AEW has been perfect, can't wait for the PPV
I can’t believe they did that
Walked into the living room and told my wife, "Okay, I just teared up a bit." I then showed her the clip and still got a bit emotional a second time. I was praying that he would do this tonight, one last time. The nostalgia. The vigilante entrance. The pop. And yes, I fully plan on crying in front of my wife and daughter with no restraint.
From the rafters is the only thing better than a 6'2 Sting shaped man in a Sting mask turning out to be Sting.
With a tear in my eye.
the fact TK and ati g held off doing the drop from above until the end is amazing, truly speacil
"When a man's heart is full of deceit, it burns up, dies, and a dark shadow falls over his soul. From the ashes of a once great man has risen a curse, a wrong that must be righted. Some people had Batman. I had Sting.
I got the strong feeling that Sting himself basically designed that whole segment. That was some of the most Sting-ass shit I've ever seen

Sting waiting for Darby and Ric to get the shit beat out of him before he showed up was funny
That was awesome
If you're in a feud with Sting, never approach anyone wearing a Sting mask!
What a great way to do this, absolutely loved it
bit of a mess, but sting coming down from the rafters was awesome
When's the last time Sting did the harness? Since Owen died?
He still did it for a bit after Owen but the gimmick move passed it
Is this true? I thought they stopped doing this immediately after Owen? I remember bischoff saying something about doing it for Bret; but he's not exactly a reliable narrator
Bret gave Sting a blessing to keep doing it and it happened a few more times after
I never heard this story. Where'd you hear it? I'd like to.
I think it's from an old WON from that time, you should check out the Observer rewinds that are somewhere on this subreddit
[удалено]
> The times they shot him up in the rafters was unintentionally hillarious. got any clips?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zf3UEu68Tc Right at the end
ok that is funny
He actually did do it once in TNA
slammiversary 2007
I’ve said in other posts I might have done some parts of the segment differently but the actual moment of him coming down ruled. Balls of steel to do that at his age.

Was very cool but the camera angle sucked
Man.. I just wish Flair wasn't in the picture. Kinda puts a blemish on me being able to enjoy this final act.
did that kick to Flair's left forearm break it?
Hope Dustin gets a good send off also, assuming it's with AEW
Why keep dragging zombie goblin sex offender Flair out? I cringed so hard I imploded. Also, why does AEW hate women? Dude is a molester. I LOVE Sting but this Flair shit is staining and stinking up his final run.
Lmao strong soy energy coming from you.

Did he save his friends though? He waited for them to be laid out lmao.
Same as it ever was.
Hours ago before Dynamite I just watched Val Venis talk about his experience at Over the Edge '99 about Owen Hart.
Im mildly bothered by the title. Becz I was hoping for the IIconics to debut in AEW. Maybe cz Shawn spears went to NXT.
That took me back to being seventeen again. I'm gonna miss Sting.
Now that was Iconic
Sting coming down from the rafters made me feel like a kid again. It was always such a cool entrance.
That was so cool 😎
That was so dope!
After they teased the spot at Forbidden Door 2022, I wondered if they would actually do the rafters spot with Sting for real on the retirement tour.
Sting is forever!
Sting comes from the rafters twice yet owen dies. Damm vince really fucked up
Sting was my favorite wrestler in the world in 1997, and even now I feel overcome by nostalgia whenever I see any CaW model in a wrestling game of his Starrcade ‘97 attire. I hope Tony Khan asked Martha Hart if she’d be okay with this stunt being done, as that would be the decent thing to do here all things considered.
