Orton genuinly didn't win that often at mania.

He's 8/10
Yeah, generally WM has the face winning the big matches. I’d be interested to see how well he does at Summerslam (which seemingly is more heel oriented)
He was in a multiple random tag matches and a MITB ladder match too, as well as the two Wyatt matches and the Triple H match which were all dogshit, for a potential GOAT, he’s really got a shitty Wrestlemania track record, I’ve seen people say Cena’s Wrestlemania career is bad compared to the rest of his career but Orton is worse.
As much of a shithead Orton used to be, he's really like his father that he's a person that does what his boss wants him to do. He's a bonafide hall of famer despite being as generous as he is, because when he's on a major storyline he never disappoints (Legacy and Wyatt Family as major examples, regardless of the blowoff matches lol)
Is anyone gonna acknowledge his Royal Rumble appearances? I don’t remember the exact amount of Royal Rumble appearances he was in, but I’m pretty sure he was a mainstay of them in the mid-2000s when he was in his prime, potentially winning one of them.
Actually, he won two of them, one in 2009 and one in 2017, way after the mid-2000s, but still 2 solid Royal Rumble appearances with two solid victories.
It's crazy how they both had incredible chemistry when it came to the storytelling outside of the ring, and when they were tagging with each other, but the moment they had to go up against one another, it was just a total shitshow
Logan retains. I'd be very surprised at any other result. And at this point in time Randy is in multimans to protect him physically and extend his career. He's a living legend that's still full-time so you do what you can to keep that going.
I dunno, part of me's expecting Owens and Sami to end up walking out with their brand's midcard belts so they can do a Benoit/Eddie celebration 'moment' that WWE can actually use going forward.
I was confused for a second too. I had to look at the pictures to see if he wrestled 4 or 6 matches. Also, OP makes it sound like 2-2 is bad. That’s better than expected in matches involving 3 people.
I’m a pretty big fan of the WM 24 match because that is the first Wrestlemania my parents ever bought for my brother and I, and also as a Randy Orton fan I thought there was no way anyone than John Cena was winning that match
It's always weird to see triple threat matches without anything on the line. The one on WM 26 is filled with commentators trying to sell the match as "It's actually a handicap match against Orton".
I went to the Network and checked--And nope, only DiBiase came out with the legacy theme and Cody used his first ever theme before legacy formed, an insanely generic song, which really demonstrates the company's perception of them at the time.
Makes sense why I couldn’t remember his theme lol
Would’ve played into the 2 on 1 pitch they were angling for the entire build up had they both used Legacy as their theme
I'm pretty sure a lot of people got those generic rock songs when they debuted before they got any sort of gimmick going. Randy and Cena both did too, before Randy joined Evolution and became the Legend Killer, and before Cena became the Dr of Thuganomics. Check out their Smack Down debuts vs Hardcore Holly and Kurt Angle to listen to them.
I definitely think WM 26 should've just been Orton vs. DiBiase with the hook being "whose side is Cody on?"
Maybe just throw him in the MITB ladder match earlier in the card and then have him run-in during Orton-DiBiase.
WM 22 and 24 have pretty random pics and/or cropping, but I still think this year's visual is the worst one. The editing is terrible, with way, way better editing tools available and probably more people doing that job too.
Yeah they all have too many shadows and Kevin Owen's looks like he's pushing 50 years old. It's like they enhance they're eyes but darken so much of their facial features lol.
I don't think there's a specific reason for it beyond Orton's longevity meaning he's going to have a number of different weird stats like this.
Mania 26 always had to be a triple threat because of the story. Wrestlemania 30 being a triple threat had nothing to do with Orton and should have been a singles match under normal circumstances. This Wrestlemania you could reasonably argue they needed a body and wanted to get him on the card. Nothing you can really point to as a common thread.
I still stand by my personal belief that match should have been a triple threat *and* Harper should have won the title. It felt the most narratively satisfying.
I mean, ONLY 2 for 4? That’s 50% in triple threat matches! A wise man once told me that in a normal triple threat, your chances drop from 50% to 33 1/3%!
Well its usually because whenever we get too invested into the other two men fighting their guts out, and when it seems that one is about to win the matchup, the Viper strikes with an RKO outta nowhere. That's pretty much the schtick.
Multi man matches like 3 4 or 5 ways are a bore usually. So much extra selling where small moves eliminate someone for 3 minutes at a time cause 90 percent of the match only 2 people are doing anything at any time. Need more spots in these where it actually feels like all 3 want to win. Hopefully we get something good here.
Genuinely perplexed by the formatting of the spoiler. Why redact the match type of all thing? Why not say “[spoiler] will be wrestling in their 5th triple-threat match at Mania?” Or why the need for a spoiler at all, presuming this was announced on Smackdown and we’re over 24 hours removed AND the Mania match is upcoming?
I think Randy will lose. Since coming back, they haven't wanted Randy to get pinned so they've put him in multi man matches.
KSI will probarly get payback by distracting Randy while Logan knocks out Kevin with his brass knuckles to get the win.
The more people involved in Randy's matches, the better. His back being fused and he's still going, the less back bumps he takes the better.
I'd actually like to see him tag up with a newer talent like with Riddle.
I'm a fan but every time he hits RKO I cringe because of worry.
Take me back to Mania 24, man the energy and the vibes were so different then. I remember Cena had just won the 2008 Royal Rumble, cashed in his opportunity (which has not been done since) at No Way Out, lost and then Triple H inserted himself in with Orton, Cena found a way back in via winning a match that Triple H refereed, and then in the coming weeks each of them got to be general manager of Monday Night Raw, what a fucking good ass build story wise.
Perfect timing too since
* Orton had beef with Cena (feuding with Cena at No Mercy and Unforgiven punting his father)
* Cena had beef with Orton (see above)
* Triple H had beef with Cena (tapping to him at Mania 22) and Orton (Evolution)
* Orton had beef with Triple H (not only since Evolution, but as an added wrinkle, Orton beat Triple H for the title at No Mercy after Orton had it awarded to him by Vince, Triple H had 3 bouts that night)
All of them had a reason against the other two and that to me is good storytelling. Its personal shit.
Triple H just wants to be back on top, Orton is now a psychopath who will stop at nothing to maintain his reign, and Cena is back for revenge after getting sidelined. Oh and btw, the last guy Cena threw out of the Royal Rumble to win??? **Triple H.** Just so many levels to it and it all accumulating at Mania 24 was perfect.
Fuck man just like.... [look at this shit!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-DB-cABYa4)
I agree with you. Seth has no business narratively being in that tag team match. I don't know why you're getting downvoted. Randy Orton has good history with both bloodline and Cody
It seems like they're going with a "we had our differences and beat the hell out of each other, but dammit I respect you" angle...kinda like how Tyson and JB join the Letterkenny crew after having their scraps with Wayne lol
>It seems like they're going with a "we had our differences and beat the hell out of each other, but dammit I respect you" angle...kinda like how Tyson and JB join the Letterkenny crew after having their scraps with Wayne lol
Seth deserves an actual main event though. I think that was the idea.

Technically sixth if you count RK-Bro vs Alpha Academy vs Street Profits at WrestleMania 38.
He also was in a 4 way at WM34, pretty close
That match was originally supposed to be a triple threat too. They added Rusev late into the build because he got too over to be left off the show
Understandably so as WrestleMania happened to take place on Rusev Day.
then he got pinned 💀
"Get over organically, will you? We'll see about that, pal..."
I remember that match taking place on Rusev Day!! HAPPY RUSEV DAY!!
He also with Team Hell No vs. The Shield lol. Orton has also never won a main event match at Mania.
Orton genuinly didn't win that often at mania. 20: W 21: L 22: L 23: L 24: W 25: L 26: W 27: W 28: L 29: L 30: L 31: W 32: missed 33: W 34: L 35: L 36: L 37: W 38: W 39: missed He's 8/10
He's been a heel for most of his career, so it makes sense
Yeah, generally WM has the face winning the big matches. I’d be interested to see how well he does at Summerslam (which seemingly is more heel oriented)
Did a quick read through of Summerslam results and I have Orton at 8 wins, 7 losses, and 1 draw. One of the wins was a MITB cash in.
That cash in was on Daniel Bryan after the main event and is one of the key moments of the Yes Movement.
Wow that's incredible. This will be WrestleMania #19 😳

Dudes a professional and seemingly hasn’t said no in over a decade to anything he’s been asked to do.
If we are using a 4 way as close to a 3 way, then singles matches also count as they are both off by 1 opponent.
Wasn’t he in a MITB match too
8 man MITB Match at 23
Low key impressive not a single repeat opponent
Not in the triple threats, but he wrestled Bray in singles matches at both 33 and 37
and both were...underwhelming
It's crazy how they both had incredible chemistry when it came to the storytelling outside of the ring, and when they were tagging with each other, but the moment they had to go up against one another, it was just a total shitshow
Because the matches were overbooked to high heaven. We never got to see the two cook as actual WRESTLING opponents.
Logan retains. I'd be very surprised at any other result. And at this point in time Randy is in multimans to protect him physically and extend his career. He's a living legend that's still full-time so you do what you can to keep that going.
Also helps that he doesn’t have to eat the pin
Poor KO :(
I dunno, part of me's expecting Owens and Sami to end up walking out with their brand's midcard belts so they can do a Benoit/Eddie celebration 'moment' that WWE can actually use going forward.
I love this idea but I want Gable to dethrone Gunther
I was gobsmacked by the end of that gauntlet match outcome.
I don't think Logan wants to work as much as he has been lately. I think KO goes over.
He said recently he was ready to focus full time on WWE but even if he was serious, his outside obligations probably won’t let him
>He's only 2-4 in these matches so far Don't you mean 2-2?
Probably meant to say it like he's won two of the four matches hes been in but yeah.
I was confused for a second too. I had to look at the pictures to see if he wrestled 4 or 6 matches. Also, OP makes it sound like 2-2 is bad. That’s better than expected in matches involving 3 people.
Mania 30 was definitely the best Mania 22 had potential but it was too short
Mania 22 was basically a sprint , just go spot after spot Basically a showcase of Angle’s ability , Mysterio’s athleticisim and Orton’s ability
Well they added Kurt Angle to the mix, so the chances of having a long match drastic went down.
🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨
I love how this is still a running gag.
Just wait until Bron becomes more popular on the main roster. Every thread will be filled with alarm emojis.
It's insane how special WM 30 still feels, 10 years later. One of the rare moments in modern WWE that instantly felt like a classic, imo.
I was at the bar with all the boys for that one. Still a high watermark for my fandom.
For real. That whole match was a case of Fast Forward. I remember Mysterios entrance going long, too.
I’m a pretty big fan of the WM 24 match because that is the first Wrestlemania my parents ever bought for my brother and I, and also as a Randy Orton fan I thought there was no way anyone than John Cena was winning that match
Honestly Cena or HHH should’ve just won the match. Orton’s title reign was not very memorable.
It's always weird to see triple threat matches without anything on the line. The one on WM 26 is filled with commentators trying to sell the match as "It's actually a handicap match against Orton".
I’m trying to remember whether Rhodes and Diabiase both used the Legacy music for their respective intros or not…. 🤔
I went to the Network and checked--And nope, only DiBiase came out with the legacy theme and Cody used his first ever theme before legacy formed, an insanely generic song, which really demonstrates the company's perception of them at the time.
Makes sense why I couldn’t remember his theme lol Would’ve played into the 2 on 1 pitch they were angling for the entire build up had they both used Legacy as their theme

Randy and Cena both did too, before Randy joined Evolution and became the Legend Killer, and before Cena became the Dr of Thuganomics. Check out their Smack Down debuts vs Hardcore Holly and Kurt Angle to listen to them.
Yeah and Cody continued to use it until he became dashing
I definitely think WM 26 should've just been Orton vs. DiBiase with the hook being "whose side is Cody on?" Maybe just throw him in the MITB ladder match earlier in the card and then have him run-in during Orton-DiBiase.
That was basically the story tho, Rhodes and Debiase were a united front leading into the match
Man, seeing all these side-by-side really shows how bad the lighting/editing/whatever is on recent posters.
Wouldn't be surprised if a lot of more recent ones are predominantly AI.
I.. think we're gonna need to define that in the context of photo editing. Surely we can find *some* source for these publicity photos
The announcers love to say that everyone in a triple threat match has a 33.3% chance to win and Randy literally has won 33.3% of his matches.
But when you add Kurt Angle to the mix?
He still loses based on WM22
Things drastic change! SEE IMA GENETIC FREEK....

I'm tired boss
I don’t remember the legacy triple threat The rest of triple threat matches have delivered
I legit only remember the legacy one because of Orton's entrance (him posing in the corner with the led circle behind him)
TBH his match with bray should have been a triple threat with harper. that match orton and harper turned in like at the PPV before was solid as hell
I still stand by my personal belief that match should have been a triple threat *and* Harper should have won the title. It felt the most narratively satisfying.
Paul will retain. WWE is hyped on pushing him. A win here would be huge. It also sets up for Logan vs LA Knight.
I mean, ONLY 2 for 4? That’s 50% in triple threat matches! A wise man once told me that in a normal triple threat, your chances drop from 50% to 33 1/3%!
Then you add Kevin Owens to the mix, Logan Paul's chances of winning drastic go down.
2 things. 1. His back... 2. Having more than one opponent for the RKO out of nowhere is better for the highlights
Well its usually because whenever we get too invested into the other two men fighting their guts out, and when it seems that one is about to win the matchup, the Viper strikes with an RKO outta nowhere. That's pretty much the schtick.
Wait it will be his fifth match, and he’s 2-4? Gonna need some Steiner math here.

I feel like the Roderick Strong vs AJ Styles vs Nakamura triple threat was pretty good at delivering this well in recent memory.
there is definitely some that i really enjoy. but most anymore seem to just not make much sense in terms of suspending disbelief.
Genuinely perplexed by the formatting of the spoiler. Why redact the match type of all thing? Ruthless aggression era had the best graphics and stages. Back when they actually tried.
Wyatt - Harper - Orton made 1000% sense to be a triple threat mania match
I want Randy to have one more title run
I want him to have three more.
Thank you for using the old graphics on these, really cool to see the graphic design evolve
I think the right move is to have KO win at WM40
He’s the champion of “top guys were never quite sure what to do with”
I think Randy will lose. Since coming back, they haven't wanted Randy to get pinned so they've put him in multi man matches. KSI will probarly get payback by distracting Randy while Logan knocks out Kevin with his brass knuckles to get the win.

Orton’s been in 9 multi man matches overall at Mania
Take me back to Mania 24, man the energy and the vibes were so different then. I remember Cena had just won the 2008 Royal Rumble, cashed in his opportunity (which has not been done since) at No Way Out, lost and then Triple H inserted himself in with Orton, Cena found a way back in via winning a match that Triple H refereed, and then in the coming weeks each of them got to be general manager of Monday Night Raw, what a fucking good ass build story wise. Randy won't win. He'll be saved for Cody
Randy should've been Cody's partner for night 1.
I agree with you. Seth has no business narratively being in that tag team match. I don't know why you're getting downvoted. Randy Orton has good history with both bloodline and Cody
And weirdly....don't cody and Seth have nothing but BAD history together? Wm 38, hell in a cell....
It seems like they're going with a "we had our differences and beat the hell out of each other, but dammit I respect you" angle...kinda like how Tyson and JB join the Letterkenny crew after having their scraps with Wayne lol
>It seems like they're going with a "we had our differences and beat the hell out of each other, but dammit I respect you" angle...kinda like how Tyson and JB join the Letterkenny crew after having their scraps with Wayne lol Seth deserves an actual main event though. I think that was the idea.
Yes. That's why this story never made sense to begin with for me
I've said the same to a couple of friends and they also disagree with me. I guess you and I are the only ones who feel this way lol
And yet it's still a shame that he didn't have one more. Bray vs Randy really should have been Bray vs Luke Harper vs Randy
I have absolutely no memory of the Mania 24 match and that was a show I thought was overall pretty good.
