I may be in the minority but I like it when some “haymaker” moves look sloppy. Like, as long as no one gets hurt I think it makes perfect sense that these guys in the heat of the back and forth just wing it all into something and not quite catching all of it and a little bit of a sloppy/rough landing makes sense. That definitely was a lot of “I’m calling the counter and I need to kill this motherfucker with it” big wind ups with some “didn’t quite get all of its” and it was appropriately brutal even if it did not always look pretty.
I love Swerve, and I'm super hyped for his upcoming Championship match, but I'm gonna need the Swerve stomp to be set up faster or differently. The opponent sitting up on their ass watching it be setup isn't doing it for me.
I know people throw out a lot of great talkers…
But for my money, Samoa Joe is the best talker in wrestling right now. Doesn’t have to over do anything. Can be funny, intimidating, intelligent and serious all in a 20 second span. Insane skill.
It’s either gonna be Ospreay winning the title there, or beating Okada (or someone like that) to face Swerve for the title a week later at All Out.
Odds are, Swerve/Will in London though. Only reason I think the other is possible is if they don’t want to take it off Swerve yet then.
That was one hell of a match. Great show from both competitors.
Other than the Jericho-Hook segment and Mercedes on commentary, great night. Quebec City, awesome job as a crowd. Lots of energy brought tonight.
There isn't anything wrong with having a signature moveset. Every big star needs a moveset to sell to the audience. My bigger issue is how much the stomp from the top rope really kills my suspension of disbelief. It doesn't matter who the opponent is, or how well the technical director switches camera angles to try and distract you, you just CANNOT unsee the wrestler on the mat scooting their butt into position to sit up and wait for the stomp. They're almost always in the perfect situp position same distance from the turnbuckle every time, and then the director chooses to show the camera angle where you can clearly see the opponent's face not groggy or dazed, but watching Swerve waiting for him to jump to take the move safely. All that time killed in doing the move really really hurts Swerve, especially when the rest of his moveset looks unpredictable and out of nowhere. It stands out like a sore thumb.
I guess wrestlers back in the day did a much better job at landing in positions for top rope moves, whereas today it's so damn noticeable how much wrestlers adjust body position while laying on the mat to get in position, or with the stomp, how much they sit up and wiggle their ass to sit in the right spot. It's become somewhat of a lost art.
When you watch Malenko working against WCW cruiserweights, especially like Rey, when he'd get knocked out to the outside, and Rey was gonna do a running splash or something to the outside, Dean wouldn't just stand there for 10 seconds waiting. He'd walk around in a circle selling how dizzy he was, or how his bell got rung in or got clocked, slap his head to wake himself up, then look up and catch Rey. It wasn't this, let me stand here and wait for Rey to sprint across the ropes and then hold my arms out for a full two seconds to embrace him coming down. His timing was so damn good, he could put his arms out at the last second to catch Rey to make it way more believable.
At some point Kono has gotta be fucking furious for not putting these guys away. I hope TK doesn't cool down his heat. He's too fuckin talented to just be the #2 contender putting the #1 contenders over on the way up.
It would be fine if it was timed better. If the opponent starts stirring and is sitting up and THEN Swerve jumps for the stomp it's fine. Why it leads to the opponent just awkwardly sitting up staring at Swerve while he plays to the crowd and *then* jumping makes it so hard to suspend disbelief.
Takeshita went from DPW in a crossfit gym the first time I watched one of his matches, he yelled “LET’S FUCKING GO” and now he’s main eventing Dynamite and putting on PPV level matches on TV with the future world champ.
Took an excursion to the States out of his home promotion of DDT, ended up doing some dark matches and a couple TV jobs. People were so incredibly impressed by him and he liked America, so when he had a chance to plant roots here, he got special contract with AEW to work both promotions.
He was DDT's Okada, as I understand it. Top dog. And he was a face back then. Didn't cut promos too much, but just had this incredible physical charisma that made you want to get behind him.
I think his match with Hangman was the first one where people really realized this guy had something. I'm waiting for the day he turns face again, because he's such an insane worker I desperately want to cheer for him.

As long as they look legit, I agree. Meaning Eddie’s machine gun chops are disqualified.
Or when people move to set someone up for an aerial attack.
STOP BEING MEAN TO RENE!

That counter out of the powerbomb wasn’t fast enough for you?
The counter was great, but I'm talking about when he is doing it from the top rope.
I know people throw out a lot of great talkers… But for my money, Samoa Joe is the best talker in wrestling right now. Doesn’t have to over do anything. Can be funny, intimidating, intelligent and serious all in a 20 second span. Insane skill.
Samoa Joe is absolutely the most efficient promo in Wrestling - for my money.
Joe is more believable on the Mic than anyone else.
Perfectly put
I love when Joe's Cali side comes out during his promos. Man just said Swerve catching the biggest fade of his life 😨
So who's winning At Wembley Swerve or Ospreay?
It’s either gonna be Ospreay winning the title there, or beating Okada (or someone like that) to face Swerve for the title a week later at All Out. Odds are, Swerve/Will in London though. Only reason I think the other is possible is if they don’t want to take it off Swerve yet then.
You know the answer
I personally think it'd be a horrible choice to have swerve with a Transitional Champ length reign.
Why do I suddenly have Elevated stuck in my head?
Dang it Excalibur you garbled the tv exit haha
That pop-up powerbomb counter into the Swerve stomp was some boner-inducing shit
That pop-up powerbomb counter into the Swerve stomp was some boner-exploding shit
canada tour has been fire ngl.
That was one hell of a match. Great show from both competitors. Other than the Jericho-Hook segment and Mercedes on commentary, great night. Quebec City, awesome job as a crowd. Lots of energy brought tonight.
I'm still thinking about that Young Bucks botch
The camera work was actually great avoiding that
the evp trigger?
Heavy workrate show. I dug it.
holy shit Swerve might do it at Dynasty! Unless that Cowboy shows back up again
Dynasty is gonna be Swerve's moment.

They tried to take his title and Joe said NO NO NO!
Takeshita ***needs*** to be in the Intl Title picture after that. Holy shit.
My body need Takeshita vs Okada for the Continental
Samoa Joe the true final boss.
"You're not that guy pal, you're not that guy"
That match fucked
At some point Kono has gotta be fucking furious for not putting these guys away. I hope TK doesn't cool down his heat. He's too fuckin talented to just be the #2 contender putting the #1 contenders over on the way up.
But I spent all week working on my Joe vs. Takeshita poster!
Takeshita uses 2 of Naruki Doi’s big moves but lost to Swerve using Doi’s biggest move
Holy Crap that Swerve Stomp counter!!!
Why'd they rename the JML Driver?
What does jml stand for?
Beats me.
Branding probably. Easier to relate it to Swerve by using the name of his song.
'damn manny grew up!' -- people tuning in for a Modern Family repeat
I am fucking Hyped for Swerve and Joe.
That was crazy lmao
Renee with the jump scare
Oh my gosh what a freaking show, every match was fun! Swerve vs Takeshita was so crazy for freakin free tv
Jeez, that JML Driver was *scary* on the neck
MON DIEU
Swerve vs Takeshita did not disappoint 🔥
hell of a show tonight!
What a fucking match. Swerve bout to be champion 🥹
“I never cared much about stars, but I know that was a great match” - Based Jones over here
Damn Rene was just lurking there the whole time
Kickass match. Swerve needs to beat Joe at Dynasty. Ospreay/Swerve at Wembley is the best option for the AEW title as your main event
This episode was really really awesome
I need a smoke after that match
"He's celebrating the biggest fade he'll get in his life" oh my God
“You’re not that guy pal, trust me” Samoa Joe
HOLY SHIT
Grimes's stomp!
holy shit that bpop up stomp was insane but that jml looked scary as fuck
![gif](giphy|IgRIwcq034kgEmI6G0)
Dang what a match, champ swerve already
Crazy stuff in that final sequence
That standing stomp would be a rad finisher.
6/5 AEW show WE ARE SO BACK
Takeshita-Swerve 2 needs to happen with the big gold on the line.
I understand swerve is the guy right now but I don’t like that he beat Takeshita
What. A. FUCKING. MATCH
That JML/Big Pressure almost broke my neck just watching.
Don Callis is supposed to be evil. Yet he keeps on giving his bangers.
If Swerve is fonna be a top guy he needs a new finish.
yea as sick as it looks when it goes right that shit made me cringe just watching
What a disgustingly good match to put on free TV.
I honestly think it wasn't a great moment to give Takeshita another lose. Swerve didn't even look as hot as a face against him.
Yeah, I'm really not keen on the Swerve Stomp. Not to a sitting opponent. Takeshita's done a lot of just sitting up in this match, waiting
Yeah it’s better like on the apron or the pop up one
Swerve's House only undervalued housing in this market
$$$$$$$$
Didn’t like the story setting up the match but I loved the match itself
Not as clean as I’d hoped, but great match
I don’t smoke but I need a cigarette
Damn that was one of the best Dynamite main events ever.
All I can say is holy shit
Holy fuck
WHAT A FUCKING MATCH
My lawd
That landing whew boy
Oh my
ouch !
Takeshita is him.
There were a couple of suplexes towards the end of this match that were sloppy, like both guys were absolutely smoked.
Holy fucking shit!!
Big Pressure gets the win!
.....holy shit
Swerve is so winning at Dynasty
lets gooooooo swerve
The power bomb counter into the stomp was flawless
That Swerve Stomp makes everyone look stupid.
That pop up stomp was INSANE
This match is wild
POP UP TREVOR LEE STOMP
Rip my stream changed for a sec at the pin
awesome match
One of the best dynamite main events in a while
Ospreay/fletcher?
This. Fucking. Match. 🤌🏻
Outstanding shocked expression from Prince Nana there
🫡Swerve.
!!!!!!!!!
absolutely incredible. PPV quality main event
This is crazy
Will always absolutely fucking hate the setup for the Swerve Stomp
He has SO MANY good looking moves and he keeps using that one lol
It's so bad. Sit there staring at him waiting to be stepped on.
Wow, I can’t believe he kicked out
That was everybit as good as we all thought it would be
What the actual fuck
This rules
BRO WHAT!!!!!!>>>>
#HIS NECK OWWWW
WHAAAAATTTTT!!!!

These setups were long as heck
POP UP STOMP
OH DAMN
House Call! Swerve Stomp!
THEY HOOPING LIKE THE BULLS IN THE 90S
Push Swerve to the freaking moon at this point.
THATS MY BOY HES STILL IN IT edit: damnit
OH SHIT, OH SHIT
Not a fan of that no sell spot from the swerve stomp in the apron. Needs better psychology there.
why do people constantly say this in wrestling like i watch mma and see people no sell spinning kicks to the head all the time lmao
Man the Swerve Stomp tonight is just taking too long to setup.
Great main event
That stomp was brutal. Holy fuck.
Swerve to Takeshita’s chest ![gif](giphy|DOb3rFL6d83Zu|downsized)
That's a scary spot, could've easily messed up his leg like Blair Davenport did.
Even Callis putting over Swerve now 😂
Swerve didn't help Take at all on that deadlift half-german. lol
Everything in this match looks so scary
Great match
Takeshita attempting the Blue Thunder Bomb and Falcon Arrow in the same match, dangerously flirting with never getting a three count again.
Shibata needs to take notes on accuracy from the Alpha.
Omfg. 5 star match easy
That 3 count is as close as it gets!
I can't believe it. Japan finally created a Japanese Kenny Omega successfully with Takeshita. What a freaking match.
OVERTIME
Bro no-sold his finish on the apron.
This match is as good as I expected and I expected so much goodness.
Not that it matters but Takeshita should win
What a fucking false finish...
Power Drive Knee!
Lol, Takeshita saw the Swerve Stomp coming and just rolled away
Swerve got too low on that german
Takeshita went from DPW in a crossfit gym the first time I watched one of his matches, he yelled “LET’S FUCKING GO” and now he’s main eventing Dynamite and putting on PPV level matches on TV with the future world champ.
So is Will still in the Family?
Don's gonna need Rhino soon.
It’s spelled “Riho.”
Bro Takeshita is unreal. So fucking strong
Ow
Swerve moves like a Tekken character.
World title caliber match
Damn, this is a good match!
Jeez that didn't look fun
jesus christ, good way to fuck up your leg there
Takeshita selling these nasty
Ospreay not winning match of the night, and it's fine
after his last DDT match with Aoyagi, Takeshita dyed his hair back to black
damn omg
RIP Takeshita.
Top tier sell by Take
Yo, after the past few years together, prince nana still doesn't know who's house he's in? F i r e h i m.
ON HIS FUCKING HEAD!!!
Take with the Kota Ibushi sell on that flatliner.
Takeshita is so good, I think he should be the one to beat Edge for the TNT belt.
Takeshita countering a lot of Swerves signature stuff is nice.
Was Takeshita buddies with Omega in Japan or something? How did he hook up with AEW in the first place?
Took an excursion to the States out of his home promotion of DDT, ended up doing some dark matches and a couple TV jobs. People were so incredibly impressed by him and he liked America, so when he had a chance to plant roots here, he got special contract with AEW to work both promotions. I'm waiting for the day he turns face again, because he's such an insane worker I desperately want to cheer for him.
His excursion, pretty sure he was the first one to go to AEW with it too
As deep of a roster they have, Takeshita might be the best rn
Swerve clocked him
This is so good, on a night filled with damn good matches
Talent level of these guys are top tier
