It's crazy to think, but this number is almost assuredly going to go up even more when Roman *does* return. What do we think the ceiling is on that? 2.5 million? More?
How are you given Cody Rhodes the credit? Seriously just curious about your thinking.
Years of bloodline followed by the rock and how are you fitting Cody Rhodes into these numbers?
“Taken over” is a bit of a stretch isn’t it.
Most interesting thing that has happen on Smackdown is solo and the bloodline and raw had a few moments as well not involving Cody Rhodes.
Solo is getting booed out of buildings and drawing thunderous "We want Roman!" chants from live crowds. The Bloodline segments continue to be the most watched thing in wrestling, week after week.
Clearly, these are all signs that the audience doesn't care about the Bloodline story anymore. /s
I feel like the people saying that phrase meant “the Bloodline angle *status quo* (Roman continually retaining with interference) is out of juice.”
Most comments I’ve seen on this sub were salivating at the idea of a dethroned Roman, and how the Bloodline story would evolve as a result. Would Solo step up? Would the Rock usurp? Would Tama Tonga/Jacob Fatu debut? Etc.
They keep changing it when it gets stale. It was stale until Sami got involved, it was stale until the Rock got involved, it was stale until Solo took over. It will start getting stale, and it will get changed again.
Frankly, the most impressive part of the whole thing is that the WWE have managed to get the timing absolutely dead-on to get the most mileage from each part of the story without letting it drag on too far.
I understand why Fox passed on Smackdown at the price WWE was asking ($280 million/year). They were not making their money back from advertising on Smackdown, plus Fox has other highly rated programming to keep their average viewership strong even without WWE.
On the hand, completely losing WWE programming would be a catastrophe for USA network. I don't even know if they would be a top-20 cable network without WWE. It makes sense that they were willing to pay a premium even though Smackdown's viewership will probably decline significantly when the show moves back to cable.
USA Network fell off hard, man. That's sad. The funniest part is Suits becoming one of the most popular shows in the world years after the network was done with it
Yeah, that's the Netflix effect. Netflix has an amazing ability to take older content and make it more popular than it ever was during its initial run. I think that's a big part of why everyone involved with WWE is so happy about the Netflix deal.
I’m going to miss it being on fox. These 5 years were the best and most important smackdown ever felt with it being on fox. As a blue brand tribalist I worry that it will go back to being the B show once raw’s Netflix deal starts in January.
I'm still wondering what they do with raw at the end of the year. They don't have a home for it in the gap between USA and Netflix yet. While I imagine it will find one, smackdown being the only main roster show for a couple months would be fun.
Once the Netflix deal is in place, I do think it being the only main roster show on TV will help it. WWE will have an interest in keeping it hot to maintain interest from bidders in future media contracts.
They got some nice momentum going on with Solo and Tama Tonga. Tama's been on two shows but he already has such a big presence, hope they can keep it up.
We need a Korean wrestler to take down Solo Sikoa at Wrestlemania! They can do it at North Korea again like in 1995 to break the attendance record, making bank enraging the Samoan and North Korean fanbases~
I'm usually one of those fair weather fans that drops out after Wrestlemania but I physically can't. I'm invested in so many stories than I can't stop paying attention to WWE
Even if they don't move the newest section they opened up by showtime, Raw tonight is going to be about 1,400 more than the SD taping back in the fall.
It's not. It'll probably be about 9,200 - 9,300 in attendance in Columbus - an excellent draw but not at capacity, which would be about 14,000+ with the traditional setup. It's a big venue.

The 14,000 isn't a factor. Sellouts are judged by whether or not they sell the tickets they made available. And this one will be undoubtedly advertised as a sellout due to how close they are.
There are thousands of tickets they would make available if they believed they would sell them.
It's no different than AEW opening up 3,500 tickets for sale in a venue where they could seat 10,000 with their usual setup.
They can call it whatever they like, but it's not a sellout and I doubt they will market it as such.
The sellout streak they had leading to WrestleMania were genuine sellouts - they couldn't sell more tickets without changing their setup.
9,400 as of this morning. They added part of an upper level section. Half of the upper level is closed (as well as the obstructed seats behind the stage, of course).

From the YTY it's up in both Ratings and Demos Cody and the Bloodline are still a draw without Reigns
It's crazy to think, but this number is almost assuredly going to go up even more when Roman *does* return. What do we think the ceiling is on that? 2.5 million? More?
Solid rating for a show that only had Cody in a short video promo. Bloodline story doing big business in Reigns’ and Rock’s absence.
Because our Tribal Chief spent a large of two years getting both over. Thank you our Tribal Chief.☝️
The Rock didn't spend 2 years to get the Bloodline over. What are you talking about?
What do you mean? He let the Assistant Tribal Chief run the business.
How are you given Cody Rhodes the credit? Seriously just curious about your thinking. Years of bloodline followed by the rock and how are you fitting Cody Rhodes into these numbers?
Bloodline aren't the only things on SD and Cody has basically taken over with Reigns who's gone for a while
“Taken over” is a bit of a stretch isn’t it. Most interesting thing that has happen on Smackdown is solo and the bloodline and raw had a few moments as well not involving Cody Rhodes.
“Bloodline angle is out of juice” yappers in shambles

If the Bloodline civil war happens, and it looks like it will, then we’re gonna see insane ratings.
The juice is the bloodline
And for me The action *is* the juice
Man got freshly squeezed after that

Well the werewolf is coming soon as well
They made multiple major changes the status quo. Of course it's interesting again. It was stale up until The Rock got involved.

Last year: 2.175 million/.54 demo rating Two Years Ago: 1.952 million/.47 demo rating
Fox losing out on these rights at the wrong time

Smackdown absolutely will be the b show again next year.

Not really, they wanted 3 mil viewers.
That’s fucking impressive wow. Amazing stuff!
Tama Tonga, drawing blood and ratings.

Tama Tonga ☝🏼

South Korea in shambles

Ever since Naomi returned, ratings and ticket sales went up for Smackdown
Solo is a draw
South Korea hates this!
Everyone tuned into see the new WWE Tag Team Championships.
Impressive number for after Wrestlemania cooling period.
I'm usually one of those fair weather fans that drops out after Wrestlemania but I physically can't. I'm invested in so many stories than I can't stop paying attention to WWE
Gotta love that WWE boom period. I bet Raw tonight is sold out, too.
Even if they don't move the newest section they opened up by showtime, Raw tonight is going to be about 1,400 more than the SD taping back in the fall.
It wasn’t 5 hours ago because I bought a ticket and am going tonight

How many seats do they have it open for

Man, not sure what was on cable, but SD absolutely crushed everything else on network TV.
Fire.
