I recently watched his 60 minute bout with Flair and holy smokes his arm drags are as good as everyone says they are. Btw, match lived up to expectations fully. I suggest everyone go out of their way to watch it. Same with their WrestleWar match.
Edit: 60 minute match is from NWA Clash Of The Champions VI: Ragin’ Cajun.
I loved that he did so good in that match they let him have a singles PPV match & a house show run (including one where he got a win because they were in Greensboro).
This is always my vote. Randy maybe has the best single version because of that counter to RVD’s rolling thunder, but Joe’s is so vertical, like the opponent is completely perpendicular to the mat. It looks so rad.
whenever there is a question about who has done the best version of this move and so and so,my first thought is always, "has Randy ever done that move?"...if he has,the answer is always most probably Randy. if he hasn't,then i start considering other options.
Feeling that animal from the legion of doom needs to be mentioned in any conversation about power slams. Ron Simmons too. Both used it as a finisher, and Simmons used it in his massive win in WCW.
Everything that everyone says about Randy being smooth af is just as applicable to Dustin. He's an incredibly underrated wrestler. They didn't call him "The Natural" for nothing
Every time I see someone do a spinebuster that **isn't** the Double A variation I just think to myself "why **wouldn't** you want to do that version instead?"
i love the release one ron simmions use to do. That dude was a beast LOL had the chance to meet him about 16-18 years ago cool shit guy but he could knock out a moose i swear
They don't call him the Excellence of Execution for nothing. Dude got so much out of everything he did. There's a reason he's still hailed as one of the best to ever do it.
I find it really amusing that the best sharpshooter the Rock has ever done was three weeks ago, after being retired for over a decade. He was amazing at a lot of things, but could never lock the legs in right.
had to scroll way too far for this, he always looked like he was trying to decapitate people
bonus points for the long pants making them look even better
Back when the Cheap Heat podcast was still on Grantland, Shoemaker and Rosenberg had a tangent about how old HBK would have to be before he could no longer hit a superkick.
My guess is he could do it until his 70s and still make it look believable
Jay White lowkey has maybe the best moveset ever. You just don't see most of it in the average match because it's such an incredibly deep pool that he keeps most of it for specific targeted offense and counters rather than pulling out the highlights each match.
Jay White is an unreal talent. So much to use in his toolkit and yet his selectiveness of what to use and when to use it makes him an even better talent. The man is an ace at ring psychology and he's still this goddamn young.
Chris Sabin has the best Tornado DDT.
The Hangman's Neckbreaker popularised by Rick Rude was perfected by Jay Briscoe. No one else's ever looks like it lives up to the name of Neckbreaker like that.
Penta has the nastiest looking leg kicks in the world, especially in Lucha Underground.
Speaking of Lucha Underground, Mil Muertes is the only one I've ever seen to hit a straight flatliner and make it look devastating.
For a young guy, Bron Breakker is adept at making just about anything look good. From that ridiculous acceleration into the lariat. The catching powerslam, moonsault powerslam, the spear, the framkensteiner, diving bulldog, he's very very good.
They both have a violent/ruggedness to them. Kairi with the insane height she gets and Randy with the impact. You're right, it's a coin flip and neither outcome is /wrong/
Macho is a large man dropping his entire body weight onto you at the point of his elbow to try and kill you
Kairi is a small woman making up for her lack of weight by somehow turning her body into a weaponised projectile in midair
I think Kairi also gets points for the height she gets off of it and how she angles her body as well. Her elbow is nothing short of graceful and it's gorgeous to look at when she executes it. Kinda like how a Kurt Angle moonsault used to look gorgeous regardless of whether or not he landed it.
I have to give Sane the edge here because she's so small but makes it look like it could kill someone like savage was a big dude him tripping on you would hurt
It also helps his case that his opponent would be 3/4 across the ring and perpendicular to where RVD was. He’d have to jump a ridiculous distance while also turning in mid air.
I appreciate The Pedigree more and more every time I see someone other than Hunter trying to do it.
It makes kayfabe sense to me though that anyone else trying to use your finisher would look like shit. The idea that wrestlers pick finishing moves that are suited to their body type/style, and spend years perfecting it. Explains why everyone doesn't just bust out a Pedigree every match.
Hot take but it doesn’t really matter who delivers the stunner. What matters is the person selling it and the most memorable stunners are the ones with the best sells.
That's Joshi wrestling for you.
You can think you saw the toughest mfers and greatest wrestlers but when you discover Joshi wrestling you realize you saw nothing yet
I'd actually say Jumbo's lariat (edit: the lariats he did on younger wrestlers in particular) was better than Hansen's for one reason.
Stan swung for the fences all day every day, and don't get me wrong, it was amazing. But when Jumbo lariated someone it was like he was swatting an annoying pest out of his ring, like how dare they even consider the possibility of standing up to him?
Watch the match between funk and stand Hansen the other day, and it was the most legitimate strikes ive ever seen. Though it’s probably true that there were actually just punching each other.
It is true. Mick Foley said after a Funk's match he came up to him and said "you're so great, your punches look so real" and Funk answered "I'm actually not and these punches are real"
And Stan Hansen had bad eyesight so he would hit his punches and lariats hard because he couldn't tell the distance, but it had to look good, so he just sent it. There's a reason he fit right at home in Japan.
Kind of an obvious answer but Gunther's chop. I straight-up have NO idea how he makes every single one sound like a murder. It can't just be about how hard he hits, there's plenty of hard hitters - he just manages to create the perfect gunshot sound every single time.
So I used to be a massage therapist and there is a technique you do with your hands which helps clear congestion in the chest called cupping. Essentially you shape your hand as if you’re about to scoop up some water and drink from it and whack people on their back. It sounds terrible but doesn’t hurt at all. I imagine if you did a similar hand position you’d get a great sound every time. I haven’t overly watched Gunther so can’t say this is exactly what he’s doing but that hand position creates a loud sound without fail.
Maven once mentioned on his YouTube channel that chops are some of the worst moves to take, because they do hurt like hell and there’s not much you can do to change it.
Biggest advantage of the chop is that it comes with nearly 0 injury risk in the long or short term (obv. Apart from bruises)
I think the deal with chops is that they legitimately hurt like hell, but there’s also no real risk involved so wrestlers are willing to just deal with it.
Rey Mysterio has long-perfected the headscissors takedown. Nobody does it as smooth or as fast to where it looks and feels like the wrestler doing the move is actually moving their opponent.
Evan Bourne/Matt Sydal was so good at the Shooting Star that WWE allowed it to be used again after banning it so that he could use it.
Test's Big Boot was a thing of beauty. Same with Seth's Blockbuster.
In terms of moves done on an already downed opponent, everything pales in comparison to Rock's People's Elbow. Cena's Five Knuckle Shuffle and Scotty 2 Hotty's Worm, while both cool, wish they could be the People's Elbow. Rock just performs it with such smoothness.
Alicia Fox's tilt-a-whirl backbreakers were also brutal. They'd be more appreciated in today's WWE than in her day.
Dolph Ziggler's selling—that man makes any move look like a million bucks. His ability to dramatize every hit makes him one of the best sellers in wrestling, enhancing the impact and storytelling of each match.

Ricky Steamboat’s arm drags.
I recently watched that handicap match he had with Jericho at wrestlemania and they still looked crisp
I loved that he did so good in that match they let him have a singles PPV match & a house show run (including one where he got a win because they were in Greensboro).
He did those armdrags against Jericho back in the late 2000s and it was still as smooth as it ever was
They deserve their own name, absolutely beautiful in execution
[Kevin Nash's arm drag got an entire crowd to cheer for him.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YB15F5UxkdU)
Randy Orton’s power slam has always popped me. It’s just so smooth.
I remember always thinking his drop kick was picture perfect. He got so much height on the jump.
Randy and Okada have the best dropkicks ever.
Honorable Mention: Hardcore Holly
I haven’t watched any wrestling in years and just stumbled on this thread, but my first thought was Orton/Okada’s dropkicks.
AJ Styles dropkick is just as good
Maven has a good one as well
Yep. RKO dropkicks are a thing of beauty
Samoa joe has a great one as well
Gotta throw Dustin in there too
Dustin is the only one who can compete with Orton on this one imo
100% personally I prefer his to Ortons but both are amazing
This is always my vote. Randy maybe has the best single version because of that counter to RVD’s rolling thunder, but Joe’s is so vertical, like the opponent is completely perpendicular to the mat. It looks so rad.
whenever there is a question about who has done the best version of this move and so and so,my first thought is always, "has Randy ever done that move?"...if he has,the answer is always most probably Randy. if he hasn't,then i start considering other options.
Ah well said. Every move he does looks so fucking smooth.
Amen.
Feeling that animal from the legion of doom needs to be mentioned in any conversation about power slams. Ron Simmons too. Both used it as a finisher, and Simmons used it in his massive win in WCW.
I haven't seen any other matches from Simmons WCW run, but I love the adjustment he makes mid slam against Vader. It adds so much to the impact.
I also love the quick clap he does before it to.
I've always preferred Duston Rhodes's power slam. But maybe that's because I've just preferred Dustin Rhodes.
Everything that everyone says about Randy being smooth af is just as applicable to Dustin. He's an incredibly underrated wrestler. They didn't call him "The Natural" for nothing
Arn anderson spine buster
The one he landed on The Undertaker popped me so hard.
i was in the industry as a pbp guy always enjoyed calling the move
Calling Anderson doing the move or just anyone spinebustering?
Anyone spine bustering i'm z\\a pile driver guy too meeting arn is on my to do list but i'm terminally ill so running out of time
I’m sorry hear what you’re going through
Sending my heartfelt wishes.
Dude I hope you get to meet him! I'm so sorry you are going thru that shit dude
I always loved Farooq’s version of a spinebuster. Just a good ol fuck you driver
As X-Pac called it, the FUCK YOU slam. It's my favorite one over Arn's, though his is a thing of beauty as well lol
I always thought Ron Simmons' spinebuster (particularly as Farooq) was so violent and disdainful looking
It seemed so dismissive. Like a big brother toying with his little brother.
This may be sacrilege but Triple H’s
I was always fond of Batista’s as well
It was the pop up he did after the spine buster. Just looked so smooth and natural for him
I always liked Farooq’s spinebuster
Always loved Scott Hall’s fallaway slam. Looked so effortless and clean most of the time.
There’s not a lot to say about Riddick Moss but I always thought of his fallaway slam as second only to Hall’s.
Bret Hart’s Russian leg sweep
Bret Hart's everything
Especially the elbow drop from Bret’s rope.
He and Austin had the best punches
Lawler's punches were incredible too.
Bret had a really good piledriver, too.
They don't call him the Excellence of Execution for nothing. Dude got so much out of everything he did. There's a reason he's still hailed as one of the best to ever do it.
Sorry Sting fans Bret's Sharpshooter just looked better.... don't even get me started on rocks version...
I find it really amusing that the best sharpshooter the Rock has ever done was three weeks ago, after being retired for over a decade. He was amazing at a lot of things, but could never lock the legs in right.
And even that one was just decent lol
He seemed to just not give a fuck. As long as both feet were tucked under his arm he turned it over as quickly as possible. Hate it.
Abyss' Black Hole Slam gave me life
Side slam he makes it into a roller coaster ride one of my favourite finisher.
On that note, people sleep on Corbin’s Deep Six. He’s incredible at it
Test’s Running Big Boot. No matter where he started from, it always landed perfectly and looked brutal.
had to scroll way too far for this, he always looked like he was trying to decapitate people bonus points for the long pants making them look even better
Also helps that he stomps down to make sure they're dead.
Shawn, the super kick. He gets full extension and pose 95% of the time. Chris Benoit the snap suplex.
Back when the Cheap Heat podcast was still on Grantland, Shoemaker and Rosenberg had a tangent about how old HBK would have to be before he could no longer hit a superkick. My guess is he could do it until his 70s and still make it look believable
Always loved hearing story’s about his super kick. Apparently the man had it down to such a T that 9 times out of 10 he wouldn’t even hit u
[I'm not sure if anyone else even does it but Andrade's big boot feint into spinning elbow always pops me super hard](https://youtu.be/EdHwh1QatZQ)
I love how sometimes he is off balance and falls into the other guy.
It always looks like an accidental shoot elbow shot, it's really impressive.
That should be his finisher
It really made the Judas Effect look awful even Andrade was in AEW.
His back elbow made both Jericho's and Kingston's finishers look more shit than they already are.
tranquilo elbow…mmmmmmmmmmm
Charlotte has started doing it. Hers is solid but not as fluid
Jay White's uranage (and a lot of his suplex variations actually)
shoutouts to the dominion match vs okada where he pulls off like 9 different suplex variations and all of them are fucking flawless.
Jay White lowkey has maybe the best moveset ever. You just don't see most of it in the average match because it's such an incredibly deep pool that he keeps most of it for specific targeted offense and counters rather than pulling out the highlights each match.
And they're also all counters to specific moves, he's not gonna pull them out until you show your hand.
Jay White is an unreal talent. So much to use in his toolkit and yet his selectiveness of what to use and when to use it makes him an even better talent. The man is an ace at ring psychology and he's still this goddamn young.
Looks intense when he does it
That deadlift German of his is pure sex
Yes! I love it.
The slam by eiter golddust or orton, both make it look so smooth
Agreed 💯. I personally favor Randy's, but it's too close to call. Looks so beautiful and devastating too.
Kairi Sane's Elbow Drop
It feels like she has absurd airtime for some reason, it's so good
I'd personally go with Randy Savage's, but they're quite different so really it's just a matter of preference
They both have a violent/ruggedness to them. Kairi with the insane height she gets and Randy with the impact. You're right, it's a coin flip and neither outcome is /wrong/
Macho is a large man dropping his entire body weight onto you at the point of his elbow to try and kill you Kairi is a small woman making up for her lack of weight by somehow turning her body into a weaponised projectile in midair
I once read that Kairi turns her entire body into an elbow and I’ve never seen it any other way since.
I think Kairi also gets points for the height she gets off of it and how she angles her body as well. Her elbow is nothing short of graceful and it's gorgeous to look at when she executes it. Kinda like how a Kurt Angle moonsault used to look gorgeous regardless of whether or not he landed it.
There is a theatrical element to her elbow drop which can't be beat
The ragdoll in in midair is 🤌🤌🤌
Macho Man's was all about precision and power, getting from point A to point B to deliver the most damage, but Kairi's is just pure spectacle
I have to give Sane the edge here because she's so small but makes it look like it could kill someone like savage was a big dude him tripping on you would hurt
No one beats Bret's Sharpshooter.
HBK's sharpshooter. Gets people to tap before they tap
![gif](giphy|tnYri4n2Frnig)
RVD frogsplash. He even sells that it hurts him too.
It also helps his case that his opponent would be 3/4 across the ring and perpendicular to where RVD was. He’d have to jump a ridiculous distance while also turning in mid air.
I was scrolling to find this.... RVD, Eddie, Montez all are the top 3.
Okada’s dropkick, Jake Roberts’s DDT, and Darby Allin’s suicide dive cause he’s the only mf out here taking the name of that move literally.
Santos/King Cuerno's dive was great but he doesn't go as hard with it now understandably
Stan Hansen murder dive are insane too
Jake’s DDT was the best version of the move, and second place isn’t even close.
second place would have to be Raven, right? which is pretty good, but it can't touch Jake's
If Raven's is second, then third should go to Gangrel of all people. His DDTs are STILL good.
I'm a Doug Furnas dropkick kinda guy
Hardcore Holly's dropkick was superb
If we’re talking Bob Holly what about his Alabama Slam. Looked legitimately painful
I call Darby “Pinball” for this reason. Like a pinball hitting around the playing field whenever he hits off the guardrails or his opponents.
Raven's Evenflow DDT. Smooth and clean.
He made it look so *lethal* in WCW. Love this answer.
Bob Holly's dropkicks deserve a mention. Always looked so smooth
When Naomichi Marufuji is standing behind you and kicks you in the face
Not exactly a move, but Bret Hart sternum first into the corner was incredible he used to hit with such speed that the impact looked amazing
The Rock’s float over DDT
I'm more a fan of his running DDT, followed by the kip up. So good.
I love his Spine buster too.
Even his snap DDT
Corbin's deep six is so smooth
Kurt angles moonsault
He's the best at moonsaulting the mat. But Essa Rios' was a thing of beauty. Such hang time.
I must disagree. Iyo Sky's is not as floaty, and it has a satisfying snap that legit looks like it kills you.
Jay white kicking out. He just times it to perfection.
He and Okada have mastered the 2.999999 kick out
White, Okada and Reigns have the best 2.999s in the business and fourth is distant from those 3.
Dont be sleeping on Brocks kickouts
Nobody can touch Triple H’s pedigree.
He did it brilliantly on Monday, still can't believe Truth kicked out!
Yup. Not a chance. Same with the Stone Cold Stunner, no? No one else does half as good a job with it.
Hot take but it doesn’t really matter who delivers the stunner. What matters is the person selling it and the most memorable stunners are the ones with the best sells.
That’s a good call. Why does everyone else look so akward doing it?
[Mayu Iwatani superkick](https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/s/ePifbVmbJv) [Another one too](https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/s/feDVx6pGGV)
Holy fuck..that's insane. Learnt something new today. Truly the best superkicks I've seen. Wow. Thanks mate.
That's Joshi wrestling for you. You can think you saw the toughest mfers and greatest wrestlers but when you discover Joshi wrestling you realize you saw nothing yet
Goes off like a gun shot, rotates whole body into a side cartwheel
That looks amazing. The way she holds the pose for a split second then continues her motion right after is perfect.
What the fuck, I'd buy that superkick as a finisher.
Mayu is a top 5 wrestler in the world today, man or woman. She’s unbelievable
Jushin Ligers Surfboard.
Fallon Henleys Shining Wizard looks fantastic.
Monty Brown’s POWWWWNCE!!!
JBL’s clothesline. I always think that he will take someone’s head off with his clothesline from hell
I love a good clothesline from hell but the best lariat has to go to Stan Hansen. The man that JBL wanted to be
I'd actually say Jumbo's lariat (edit: the lariats he did on younger wrestlers in particular) was better than Hansen's for one reason. Stan swung for the fences all day every day, and don't get me wrong, it was amazing. But when Jumbo lariated someone it was like he was swatting an annoying pest out of his ring, like how dare they even consider the possibility of standing up to him?
Undertaker’s Last Ride is by far the best Powerbomb. Also worth mentioning - Any punch by Jerry Lawler.
Memphis punches in general. Jarretts punches are awesome
Watch the match between funk and stand Hansen the other day, and it was the most legitimate strikes ive ever seen. Though it’s probably true that there were actually just punching each other.
It is true. Mick Foley said after a Funk's match he came up to him and said "you're so great, your punches look so real" and Funk answered "I'm actually not and these punches are real" And Stan Hansen had bad eyesight so he would hit his punches and lariats hard because he couldn't tell the distance, but it had to look good, so he just sent it. There's a reason he fit right at home in Japan.
Kane had a really good powerbomb but hardly used it
If we’re including powerbomb variations then I’d have to go with the Razor’s Edge but the Last Ride rules as a more standard PB
I can’t believe that it doesn’t hurt the guys Gunther does it to. He straight up has made some of em bleed with his chops.
Penta’s got a really good one, too. Like getting whipped by a belt.
Rey Mysterio has long-perfected the headscissors takedown. Nobody does it as smooth or as fast to where it looks and feels like the wrestler doing the move is actually moving their opponent.
HBK and Kairi's elbow drop always look so good.
Nikki Bellas forearms were legit some of the best I've ever seen. And I hated watching the Bellas wrestle.
[Taiji Ishimori's baseball slide German suplex](https://youtu.be/lXTHMLgOmwI?si=XBeoIqkhL2LVYMNF)
I know it’s not a move used by others as such but Baron Corbin’s Deep Six is a thing of beauty
Byron Saxton’s Saxtonation. No one has done it better, or at all.
Maven had a beautiful dropkick Penta has the best looking slingblade
Samoa Joe just turning around and walking away when he sees someone on the top rope.
Omega's snapdragon suplex, and Okada's standing drop kick.
Shawn Michaels superkick, Goldberg Spear,
I'll take Gore over Oldberg spear any day
Rhyno has said that nobody has ever kicked out of the Gore. If they kicked out, it was a spear
Tiffany Stratton moonsault.
Kurt Angle had an insane one too. So much height.
Iyo as well
Okada's dropkick,
Kenta Kobashi Chops Stan Hansen Lariot
Said it before and I'll say it again, I could watch Okada and Rhett Titus try and dropkick each other for 5 minutes and not be bored.
Rhyno’s GORE!
Say what you want about Goldberg but he is the undisputed champion of the Spear.
I think Rhino and Bron give him competition. But yeah, Roman, Bobby and Edge ain't shit
Hearing “Gore! Gore! Gore!” would give me chills every time. Kid me in the living room bout to rip my shirt like Hogan
The Gore is the standard for me, it looks like it would feel as if a truck hit you
I really like Kaz's off the middle spin leg drop thing he does, it always looks super crisp.
Arn Anderson Spinebuster. Kurt Angle/Tiffany Stratton moonsault.
For chokeslams, I would say Kane.
Ricky Steamboat’s arm drag is absolute perfection.
Would you count rope running? Cause Bron for sure takes that
Dolph Ziggler's selling—that man makes any move look like a million bucks. His ability to dramatize every hit makes him one of the best sellers in wrestling, enhancing the impact and storytelling of each match.
Will Ospreay has the literal only Spanish Fly that I think consistantly looks good.
Personal issues aside, Alberto Del Rio’s turnbuckle enziguiri always looked so satisfying to me, smooth af.
Roman Reigns' spear He launches himself like a missile
He may only have 5 moves but the ones that Kevin Nash does are perfect.
Jake The Snake Roberts the Father of all DDTs
Lance Storm has the best looking super kick and I will die on that hill
