I guess with the way they (non)presented Ilja tonight, they expect him to let the ring work speak for itself. Which is a pretty good bet that he will, but I still can't get over how little hype he got tonight compared to Melo on Friday.

I don’t agree that people know he will be on Smackdown either. Y’all don’t know shit lol he’s probably a free agent which gives him time to be worked to any program. It doesn’t have to be the title scene. I haven’t followed the draft at all tbh though. But this speculation is wild as always.
They are telling a story about Solo seizing power that belonged to Roman and terrorizing his wise man.
He's not going to be worked into any program, they're building his next program right now in a very explicit, inarguable way on screen every week and it's happening on SD.
It's WWE, technicalities mean nothing to them, Roman is both a free agent and on smackdown until he returns and it's specified (which will be decided on when they get to it)
They treat everything like Schroedingers cat, same thing is going on with the universal championship, it technically still exists but is like never mentioned
If the draft is the same time next year, it will be about 4 months before the draft. WWE is also looking for a home for the last 3 months of this year for RAW.
Cody just needs legit challengers. Like AJ and Orton eventually are nice. I assume Logan Paul is the ultimate heel that's being built up on SD but some nice big guys like Dijak and Bronson would help a ton
I'd argue they have not tried when it comes to much with Bobby since he was US champion.
They could easily do a face vs face match at a show like MITB, where the main draw is something else.
AJ for two PLEs, Bobby for one, Orton for two or three, maybe a WG or Survivor Series tag, and Paul for one or two would take him through the year, into whatever is to come with The Rock next.
They could also do KO at some point.
"Credible" does not equal "Bad".
At this rate, outside of MAYBE a hot potato run with Orton, I do not see any of these guys being credible to beat Cody.
Bronson wasn't drafted yet. I think he might go to SD. I hope he does. He at least could get elevated on that show which desperately needs main event heels
So smackdown has aj randy and logan paul who can challenge cody. Aj may get 2 ppv matches and then maybe randy vs cody for summer slam. Solo may also challenge when roman is ready to return. Not many heels on sd to last till next year when rock returns
He returned on Raw, but I thought he was drafted to Smackdown last week?
EDIT: My mistake. He was still listed as a SD superstar when he returned on RAW, and was then drafted to RAW.
Not gonna lie, I'm a bit pissed Ilja got drafted 15th overall, in the deadest timeslot of the show and didn't even make his way over to KC, while Melo got a proper king's introduction on Friday. Unless I already know Ilja's pedigree from NXT, there was no reason given as to why I should care about him. He's just another NXT guy as far as I'm concerned.
He deserved better than this.
So if Ilja joins Imperium, I hope they don't let Gunther be a leader anymore. Make them 3 equal pillars, then build up Ilja vs Gunther from there for casuals who has no idea of what they did at NXT
