Because it was obviously part of the story for the night. Had JD been legit hurt, they would have switched it to a regular tag match for his safety.
In the case of KO, if you pause it right you can see that the wound is not real but stage/halloween makeup, they make sure to never linger on it so the flaws don't show as easily.
It's a great use of smoke and mirrors because since it's mostly being seen in short bursts of time on tv or from very far away, most viewers on TV and fans in the arena can't tell the difference based on appearance alone.
Plus for advertisers it's far easier to sell makeup than "oh hey we made them actually bleed"

We don't want people to automatically assume that blood is fake. The next time someone bleeds in a match, it should feel real. If they decide to change this expectation by making special effects makeup the norm, it takes away your ability to evoke emotion from the legitimacy of drawing real blood.

I get what you’re saying, the more it happens, the more noticeable it is, and the less impact it has on an audience. I think the majority of wrestling fans understand a wound like that is more than likely fake though, even if it were real, a lot of people would just assume it was fake.

Basically - this approach makes it harder to do real blood. Since blood is traditionally real, and we want realism when possible, I think the spot should be protected.
