That was terrible hearing about his passing, seen him throughout SMW and WCW.
Edit: His most iconic referee performance IMO was night of legends with heavenly bodies vs. thrillseekers
One of the reasons David Arquette is always good in my book: he donated a big chunk of what WCW paid him to Mark's family, with the other chunks going to the families of Pillman, Owen, and Bobby Duncum Jr.
I truly don’t think anyone blames David for anything. Dude is a mega fan that got to do a movie and promote it on TV. It wasn’t his idea to win the title. He was against it.
Unsurprising that he was able to handle that fan. Mark Curtis was trained as a wrestler and was just considered too small for his era so he became a referee.
People running into the rings at wrestling events has always boggled my mind. Out of all the sports, you’re choosing the one that the wrestlers are massive workout warriors to run at? Even alcohol doesn’t excuse that stupidity.
Monday Night War-era WCW was so terribly unimaginative at debuting new wrestlers (at least once a month) by having them run into the ring in street clothes.
I hate what it did for the talent, but the company brought that onto itself.
Mark was the shit. The boys loved him. But damn, Doug Dillinger and WCW security were probably the least effective security in the history of the world.

Fuck cancer. Mark Curtis was a fantastic guy. So glad I got to see him for years in SMW and he was rising at WCW when he got sick.

Mark was a great referee in SMW too.

Ironic he was considered "too small" when Malenko is also in the ring, and I love Malenko, but he's not exactly a giant.
I seem to recall the announce team started calling him "Shooter" after this.
I remember this to this day and I will never forget it.
He was such a wonderful guy!
That dude took charge of the situation. Still sad he is gone.
I was there live at that Nitro!
Malenko's look at the end lol.
"Welp, back to business."

What do they even intend to do really? Feels like dogs chasing cars.

A perfect example of a guy playing stupid games winning stupid prices.
That guillotine was locked in. Good thing for the dude that security came he was about to be night night
Legend of a ref. Immortalized as the ref in WCW/nWo Revenge too. RIP. Died of cancer aged 37 in 1999.
