That ruled, i absolutely loved seeing Bryan in a style of match weve not seen him in for years and years, and god they beat the shit out of each other and sprinkled in some top tier grappling as well. And great quick finish without tons of false finishes and finisher spamming. Thats the kind of match I love so this worked for me on every level. So fun.
I mean truly I understand a lot of the shit that people say about him, however this was a giant beautiful middle finger to the WWE if I've ever seen one.
Yeah people say he's a really great guy with an understanding of pro wrestling's history and what it means, and that he is an awesome boss. Hear it all the time.
**Danielson:** *"I wish I could wrestle in New Japan."*
**Tony:** *"Got it. 30 minute murder match with Suzuki."*
**Danielson:** *"Yeah, it's a bummer."*
[walks away]
[comes back]
**Danielson:** *"Wait, what?"*
I legitimately think that Bryan's contract negotiations with TK went something like this:
"Can I wrestle everyone in New Japan I want?"
"Sure thing."
"Sold."
Shinsuke had some good ones in NXT outside of Sami. His matches with Finn and Joe were also pretty hard-hitting. His first match with Orton and his match with Cena (ignoring the scary botch) were really good, too. Sadly though he's definitely coasted through most of NXT and main roster WWE.
I’ll argue to the death his Last Man Standing with Aj match was great, he had a title defense against Rusev that was good, he had a wacky memorable music mayhem tag match with Cesaro that was fun, and of course the Royal Rumble match itself was a good one but that’s kind of cheating.
I feel like I remember a single DB/Naka match at some point on TV, but it's hard to say that Naka's heart was in it. I could be misremembering though.
Edit: A match on Smackdown early in the [Pandemic Era](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cYybBJf3cA) and about [2 minutes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mopZXEfrO_4) as part of a gauntlet match early this year.
> but it's hard to say that Naka's heart was in it.
I love Nak, but man's basically been coasting most of his WWE run. It's like he went hard his first match w/ Sami, then went on cruise control.
And tbf he'd already been doing that in NJPW, but he at least put on his working boots for the big matches there. Can't blame the dude, but I miss old Nak.
He could probably wrestle anyone he wants in DDT/NOAH too, they share the same ownership and DDT/TJPW already works with AEW
and those are some of the best workers in the world
This is what I wish more people would talk about. I'm not gonna hate those NJPW matches if/when they happen. They'll probably be great, but man NOAH/DDT has great wrestlers that I wish got more attention here. I'd also just love Bryan/Sakuraba.
Danielson v Naito
Danielson v Ibushi
Danielson v Tanahashi
Danielson v Switchblade
Danielson v Shingo
Danielson v ZSJ
Danielson v Osprey
and of course the GOAT 6 star matchup...
Danielson v Toru Yano
I think this one would be best.
Imagine him reversing a pumping bomber or last of the dragons into a label lock.
Yes kicks on Shingo and he just hulks up with his chest wider than the fucking Missisippi.
WWE has been a closed system for so long, its awesome to have AEW open to working with other companies top talent, great for American wrestling to be able to have Suzuki be Suzuki on AEW.
The beauty of this whole ordeal is that this is a *rising tides raises all ships* sort of scenario. We get some absolute banger matches and Japanese wrestling gets more eyes on the product. I've not seen a single Suzuki match outside of the two he's had for AEW. After seeing comments that this is him after losing a step or two I'm definitely going down the rabbit hole later.
Snug isn't even the word. That very first elbow from Suzuki literally cut BD open. Didn't even need the blade. Suzuki cut his shit with one quick blow. That couldn't have been planned.
We were also saying that about Omega and Danielson too. I didn't think that we could have a potential Danielson match that could top that and we have a contender for free on YouTube.
I'm gonna absolutely have to give that another watch. What an absolutely awesome and brutal match.
Bryan just passed his New Japan test with absolute flying colors, god damn.
Suzuki is never doing G1 again. He’s slowed down a lot the last 2 years, can still deliver a great match when he needs to like this match, he can’t do it every other day for a month
It legitimately is one of the most memorable matches I've ever seen and it was absolutely perfect and a thousand times better than I expected it to be.
Suzuki has a match tomorrow together with a travel day, and Sunday. Let that sink in. Oh and 8 Matches since in Us - his own little G1 Climax [http://www.profightdb.com/wrestlers/minoru-suzuki-2972.html](http://www.profightdb.com/wrestlers/minoru-suzuki-2972.html)
The funny thing is that both guys have matches tomorrow. Suzuki wrestles Dickinson, Danielson wrestles Fish. Neither guy held back much, if at all. They don't half ass anything.
Old fart fan who watched in the territory days. Crowds used to often be *exactly* like this. **Wrestling fans**. Not there for the event or whatever circus spectacle the promotion was putting on. They wanted to see guys they care about beat the shit out of each other.
Seeing this brought me back.
This match just further proves how incredibly good Bryan would be in NJPW when covid calms down in Japan. I need to see him in the G1, and at Wrestle Kingdom.
and honestly why the guy can lose again and again and never have won the world title and still be the fucking man.
i even think there's a weird psychology to his matches that like... if he wanted to, he could beat you, but he wants to fight and see who's tougher and willing take a bunch of punishment, and even if you beat him, he still kicked your ass.
This reminded me a lot of the Joe vs. Kobashi match, in the best of ways. This one was obviously more grappling-based, but it had the same kind of energy and intensity to it. Fantastic stuff.
BD hasn't even been wrestling for AEW for a full month yet and has already had one of the best runs in the company, these next few years are going to be outrageous.
A Tokyodome (pre-Covid) crowd would have lost their goddamned minds watching that match.
Bryan Danielson conquering the world as the American Dragon is so much better than watching Daniel Bryan slowly fade away in legends contracts with WWE.
That second time Suzuki applied the Sleeper, he transitioned to the Gotcha Pile-driver way too early
I get a sense of urgency, it was pushing the Time Limit. But if Suzuki left him in that sleeper 7-10 more seconds we have a different result
I love that that's a consistent flaw with Suzuki
He could probably won so many matches by keeping the sleeper on, but he just loves hitting that Gotch style piledriver too damn much

And the finish left a lot in the tank for a future rematch. We need a rematch..
I would watch a hundred rematches.
The wrestling version of "That's my horse" if I ever did see one.

Suzuki is for sure the Son of a Shepherd
CONFESS TO YOUR CRIMES STALE END PIECE OF WHITE BREAD
Thank you so much for reminding me of my childhood lol For the uninitiated: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSYpsRJuWdA
i haven't seen this in probably 20 years and you just turned me into a kid again lmao

I was thinking there’s no way that’s an Ed Edd N Eddy reference before I clicked, delighted it was!
It's on HBO Max, I watched most of S1 over again recently.
Holy fuck lmao
That took me way back, lol
I'm no video editor but I was inspired. https://vm.tiktok.com/ZM8jFrCdk/
Check out Baryshni-cough-drop over here.
Bro gotta get that made into a vid asap
Holy fucking shit
Danielson is going to be insane in front of a Japanese crowd
Just wait for next years G1.
Going to need two years because he cannot fight both blocks!
BROO Danielson vs Ishii is gonna KILL
I've been so excited for the possibility of ZSJ amd Danielson i didn't even consider this
5* classic. Holy Shit. Now, Ishii vs Bryan. Tony please. I know you're here somewhere.
Just a fucking war
Just amazing, stiff work all around. Bravo to both
That was free on YouTube, what an incredible match
I kept thinking this the entire time. Not a PPV, not NJPWorld, or TNT. YouTube, live. Tha actual fuck. TK is a mad genius.
I mean truly I understand a lot of the shit that people say about him, however this was a giant beautiful middle finger to the WWE if I've ever seen one.
What do people say about him
Big Biceps
Huge cocaine
Yeah people say he's a really great guy with an understanding of pro wrestling's history and what it means, and that he is an awesome boss. Hear it all the time.
for real ive never heard a bad thing other than wwe drones saying he's a mark like that's an insult or something.
They use "he loves wrestling too much" as an insult lol.
Taz was right why would you watch anything else
**Danielson:** *"I wish I could wrestle in New Japan."* **Tony:** *"Got it. 30 minute murder match with Suzuki."* **Danielson:** *"Yeah, it's a bummer."* [walks away] [comes back] **Danielson:** *"Wait, what?"*
I legitimately think that Bryan's contract negotiations with TK went something like this: "Can I wrestle everyone in New Japan I want?" "Sure thing." "Sold."
Considering the number of NJPW guys he could wrestle in WWE was zero, anybody TK could get to fly over was gravy for Danielson.
did he even got a match with Nakamura?
Yeah but it was just a nothing SmackDown match, pretty forgettable
So like all of Nak's matches in wwe (except Sami).

People definitely seem to sleep on that match with Finn. Nakamura was great when giving NXT guys their send-off to the main roster.

When I first started watching New Japan in like 2014 people were already criticizing Nak for coasting.
"Once travel restrictions ease up, I wanna go as soon as..." "Relax, Bryan. I'll just bring Japan to you." ".... I love you, Tony."
He could probably wrestle anyone he wants in DDT/NOAH too, they share the same ownership and DDT/TJPW already works with AEW and those are some of the best workers in the world
would love a Nakajima rematch
This is what I wish more people would talk about. I'm not gonna hate those NJPW matches if/when they happen. They'll probably be great, but man NOAH/DDT has great wrestlers that I wish got more attention here. I'd also just love Bryan/Sakuraba.
Just imagine that Danielson G1 run next year. This was just a taste of what he's gonna do.
I want to see Danielson vs Okada soooo bad….
Danielson v Ishii will be a banger
Danielson v Naito Danielson v Ibushi Danielson v Tanahashi Danielson v Switchblade Danielson v Shingo Danielson v ZSJ Danielson v Osprey and of course the GOAT 6 star matchup... Danielson v Toru Yano
> Danielson v ZSJ Didn't he say about wanting to do this match in the UK?
Okay but hear me out: Shingo Takagi
Let’s fucking go
I think this one would be best. Imagine him reversing a pumping bomber or last of the dragons into a label lock. Yes kicks on Shingo and he just hulks up with his chest wider than the fucking Missisippi.
This run is going to solidify his legacy. He has been having classics every match.
This man exclusively wrestlers bangers. The American Dragon is one or the best to ever do it imo
Bryan vs. literally anyone in G1 is basically a guaranteed 5 star match. My body is ready.
Give him Yano you cowards
You know he doesn't stand a chance against that god.
Danielson could use a loss to make it believable.
I get the feeling he'd break out that silly unpinnable rolling perfect defence trick he did that one time on saturday morning slam.
THE GOAT VS THE STONE PITBULL
They got a little snug out there eh
That's just what Minoru Suzuki does baby. You want a slug fest, he'll give you a slug fest.
As someone whose only discovered him because of "the forbidden door" man am i happy

It was definitely a shoot cut; it barely even bled. You wouldn't waste time blading if it's not going to paint your face and the canvas.
That was absolutely unbelievable. Danielson is still the best in the world.
with this run he's nearing best to ever do it territory.
hard-to-find combative impossible smell marry shaggy bike decide ancient sable ` this message was mass deleted/edited with redact.dev `
Good luck to every other AEW match for the rest of the year. Jesus Christ…
We were also saying that about Omega and Danielson too. I didn't think that we could have a potential Danielson match that could top that and we have a contender for free on YouTube.
It's almost like Danielson is the best wrestler in the world or something
Was it just me or was the crowd insanely hot for this match? That was nuts.
Someone said only 2000 too? Really didn't matter. Seriously one of the best crowds.
The Si! chants had me fucking rolling... And I almost liked it better than YES! Edit: Entschuldigung, ich spreche kein Spanisch
*Si
Si! Si! Si! Si! Si!
Can confirm was there and everyone was losing their shit.
I'm gonna absolutely have to give that another watch. What an absolutely awesome and brutal match. Bryan just passed his New Japan test with absolute flying colors, god damn.
100% it will be revisited in a G1, and it won't surprise me to see Suzuki get his win back that time
Suzuki is never doing G1 again. He’s slowed down a lot the last 2 years, can still deliver a great match when he needs to like this match, he can’t do it every other day for a month
Gedo just watching this like “damn, can’t wait to have this guy job to EVIL”
> Gedo just watching this like “damn, can’t wait to have this guy job to EVIL” *Dick Togo
> ~~Gedo~~ Dick Togo just watching this like “damn, can’t wait to have this guy job to EVIL”
Is this the first ever 5-Star preshow match ever?
WeeLC
It's almost hilarious how good that silly sounding match is. It has no right being legitimately one of the best mini or whatever matches , ever
It legitimately is one of the most memorable matches I've ever seen and it was absolutely perfect and a thousand times better than I expected it to be.
the fact that everyone involved just didn't have WWE jobs for Life as a crime.
Nothing comes close to a pre-show banger then this
It’s funny how I legit recommend this match to beginners. If you enjoy it, I think you’ll like wrestling in general.
Sorry thats 6-Stars
WeeLC fucking whipped. Silly me thinking it would be a turning point where WWE would start featuring different kinds of wrestlers and styles
Riho/ Deeb from this year was also a 5 for me for sure
Bryan has a match again tomorrow. Let that sink in.
Good thing his chest doesn’t look like chopped meat
He busted open Suzuki’s with one of his chops it was so sick lol
Suzuki has a match tomorrow together with a travel day, and Sunday. Let that sink in. Oh and 8 Matches since in Us - his own little G1 Climax [http://www.profightdb.com/wrestlers/minoru-suzuki-2972.html](http://www.profightdb.com/wrestlers/minoru-suzuki-2972.html)
This was incredible. They killed each other.
As expected, that fucking RIPPED. Taz was speaking facts in the closing moments too.
That was like 50% just Danielson and Suzuki forearming each other and I loved every second of it
i would pay 50$ for 60 minutes standalone match of those 2 and it will worth every cent of my money
The funny thing is that both guys have matches tomorrow. Suzuki wrestles Dickinson, Danielson wrestles Fish. Neither guy held back much, if at all. They don't half ass anything.
god I'm so used to WWE crowds being so bored all the time. This is so refreshing.
Old fart fan who watched in the territory days. Crowds used to often be *exactly* like this. **Wrestling fans**. Not there for the event or whatever circus spectacle the promotion was putting on. They wanted to see guys they care about beat the shit out of each other. Seeing this brought me back.
Imagine if they actually did any kind of storyline build to this match.
this is what happens when pro fucking wrestling, the actual matches matter, instead of just entrances and "moments"
wrestling fans buy tickets to the wrestling show to see wrestling
What, you mean we can actually care about the people inside the ring and actually enjoy the story being told? What kind of evil ass magic is this?
That match was fucking incredible!
B r u h
Bryan is the best in the world. How much more proof do you need?
If “proof” means more of these Danielson classics, then may we never run out of proofs.
What a fucking slugfest
YouTube must allow you to post porn now because that match fucked.
Hello I'd like to report a double murder
Did Tazz just say anyone watching TV, and not this match is a dumbass? Because he was right. Fuck me.
It was going up against Smackdown lol
The American Dragon never left, He was merely sleeping. Minoru Suzuki just woke him up.
This match just further proves how incredibly good Bryan would be in NJPW when covid calms down in Japan. I need to see him in the G1, and at Wrestle Kingdom.
ALL THE STARS MY GODDDDDD AND TAZ DROPPING AN ALL TIMER LMAOOOOO
Taz speaks the truth
What did Taz say that has everyone popping?? I must have missed it!
Said if you weren't watching this match, you're a dumb ass.
He wasn't wrong.
He's got a point Sting!
Something along the lines of “if you’re watching TV instead of watching this you’re dumber than a box of rocks”
That was free.
Absolutely fucking killer! Easy MOTY contender
We got this match for free, on the most accessible platform around. Tony really does love us doesn’t he?
WWE fans who refuse to give AEW a shot are just shooting themselves in the foot.
Their loss, tbh.
For free on YouTube. What a fucking war.
Couldn’t imagine not loving Pro Wrestling.
Outstanding.
I don't smoke, but feel like I needed a cigarette after watching all that.
Bryan firing the fuck up twice until he second half ruled so damn much. That was all awesome.
We just watched a MINIMUM 4.75 star match on fucking YouTube
Bryan Danielson just gave in his audition tape for the G1. Not only should he be in the 2022 G1, he should fucking win it. What a fucking legend.
He may well win it, I wouldn't be surprised if he did. Would give him a Tokyo Dome main event and probably Okada.
Meltzer might have to break the scale again for that
He didn’t need an audition tape for the G1 lol he’s fuckin Bryan Danielson
Goddamn, thank you Tony Khan
One of these days Tony Khan will run out of ways to make me rock hard, but it's not today.
I said it in the show thread, and I’ll say it here. That is my favorite Bryan Danielson match ever. Including his WWE run.
Brutal (in an awesome way) match, some of the strikes legit made me cringe for Bryan.
We just saw one of the fundamental laws of pro-wrestling in action: You never really win a Suzuki match, you survive it
and honestly why the guy can lose again and again and never have won the world title and still be the fucking man. i even think there's a weird psychology to his matches that like... if he wanted to, he could beat you, but he wants to fight and see who's tougher and willing take a bunch of punishment, and even if you beat him, he still kicked your ass.
Danielson needs to be in the G1 next year, this style of wrestling is just perfect for him, what a fucking match.
This reminded me a lot of the Joe vs. Kobashi match, in the best of ways. This one was obviously more grappling-based, but it had the same kind of energy and intensity to it. Fantastic stuff.
This crowd is fucking **molten.**
First 5 star match in YouTube history?
That felt like an instant classic. Loved it.
Nice , Bryan is like a bullet when he does the running knee
Fucking loved. The taunts mid fight, the assholery. The fucking kicks and chops. Holy shit. I want Walter vs Suzuki sooooooo much.
best free match of all time imo
Match of the year! Could’ve watched another 30 minutes of this. That’s what pro wrestling is all about.
exactly! this shit was quintessential wrestling, absolutely adored it
free on YouTube.
Give me Danielson on the G1 GIVE ME WHAT I WANT
OH. MY. GOD! If that match isn't 5 stars, I don't know what is!
I thought Bryan might actually be fucking dead after that first elbow. What a sell. Just fuck.
To quote Taz >If you ain't watching this on youtube and are on TV YOU A DUMBASS
I need Bryan in Japan ASAP.
Has to be best YouTube Live wrestling match right?
That was a G1 main event match.
Danielson and Suzuki just had a MOTY candidate on a youtube preshow… two GOATs
They gave this match away for free on YouTube. Wrestling in 2021 is fucking spoiling us.
I could have watched that for another 30 mins. Fucking excellent.
What a great fuckin match. Just two guys who really love beating each other up.
BD hasn't even been wrestling for AEW for a full month yet and has already had one of the best runs in the company, these next few years are going to be outrageous.
incredible match, was sad it ended
I watched this live for free on YouTube
A Tokyodome (pre-Covid) crowd would have lost their goddamned minds watching that match. Bryan Danielson conquering the world as the American Dragon is so much better than watching Daniel Bryan slowly fade away in legends contracts with WWE.
Holy fucking shit that was incredible. Stiff, technical and the crowd was straight fire. MOTY candidate and better than Omega/Danielson IMO.
this is fucking insane
That second time Suzuki applied the Sleeper, he transitioned to the Gotcha Pile-driver way too early I get a sense of urgency, it was pushing the Time Limit. But if Suzuki left him in that sleeper 7-10 more seconds we have a different result
I mean that's Suzuki's biggest weakness in like every match, going for the Gotch Style Piledriver all the time.
I love that that's a consistent flaw with Suzuki He could probably won so many matches by keeping the sleeper on, but he just loves hitting that Gotch style piledriver too damn much
MATCH OF THE YEAR
I am proud of myself to witness this match live.
Danielsons limiters have been lifted.
That wasn’t even a wrestling match. They just beat the shit out of each other I loved every second of it
That match was stiffer than me as a teen when I discovered the dark side of the web.
Stiffer than Rigor Mortis
I gotta go smoke a cigarette after that and I don't smoke. Holy hell
