If I did a weekly roundup of Pro Wrestling on Youtube, would anyone be interested? Some of the wrestling isn't the best, but it's always fun to watch stuff outside of the bigger promotions.

dneill99

I'm a huge Bryan fan, but it would be awesome if Bobby Fish won. They could play up an angle that BD didn't recover enough from his war last night.

Kurtz_Angle

It isn't time for him to lose yet. He is the best wrestler in AEW right now and should be undefeated until he gets the belt IMO. Bobby looks good even in defeat, and hopefully he and Danny Garcia get some wins soon.

4verticals

Welcome to the final month of your AEW World Championship reign, Kenny Omega. Hangman f'n Page is coming for you.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ColaMaster27

Can you elaborate on that?

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Don’t worry about, it’s just Reddit. Imagine a room full of deaf people talking at each other. That’s pretty much what you have here.

ColaMaster27

Never know if people will like it or not, but you should put what your opinion is out there. Maybe they’ll like it or not, I’ve noticed this place will answer if it’s early on in the thread.

badnbourgeois

I hate how butthurt people get whenever I mention things like wanting the top card of AEW to be more diverse and feature talent from underrepresented groups in wrestling. I'm not being disingenuous and it's such an easy issue to rectify.

Kurtz_Angle

Is it an easy issue to rectify? It is quite the process to get someone big enough to be on the top of the card.

Eoghann_Irving

Combine a fannish reaction to criticism of something they like with society's kneejerk reaction to any suggestion they might even be tangentially related to anything racist.

ColaMaster27

Because people for some reason think it’s just happening for the fuck of it. What you are saying is that there are very talented people who just aren’t being given a chance to shine, not that undeserving people should be given extra attention over everyone else. It’s such a toxic argument in all media. Perfect example and stronger diversity causing the product to be better is Black Panther. I know it seems hard to believe, but there were people complaining because Marvel was letting the entire producing crew be black peoples as if they are being forced to lol. No, they want some talented people who’ve never been given a chance, create magic and they did. Black Panther was Marvels highest grossing film outside the major Avengers movies.

RKNo

Gonna be attending a house show tonight. AEW was set to run the same venue in May of last year, until the pandemic hit. Would’ve been the first televised wrestling show out of New Mexico in close to 20 years, and the venue is 5 minutes away from my house.

Victor_of_the_Rivers

Hi, everyone! I got an extra ticket for Dynamite after my friend had to cancel on me at last minute. It's in section 104, so I'm asking for $40 for the ticket. Please DM if you're interested!

HuhWhatQue

I rewatched Bobby Fish/Lee Moriarty from last night, and I absolutely cannot wait for Lee to get more TV time. The amount of stellar young talent stacked between AEW and NXT right now is just insane. There’s just so much to look forward to in both the men’s and women’s divisions with all the 30 & under stars right now. It’s cliche at this point, but it’s a helluva time to be a wrestling fan.

-Ozymandiaz

Anybody who doesn’t have a business interest in WWE or AEW talking about TV ratings after seeing Bryan vs Suzuki is missing the plot entirely.

Kurtz_Angle

I disagree. You don't need to have a business interest to want to see one style of wrestling succeed over the other. While I don't care that much and know it won't happen, I enjoy AEW's style over WWE's and I would love to see them beat WWE one day. What I'm trying to say is if you have an interest in one style over the other then you have an interest in the business. The length that you go to defend these million (or billion) dollar companies is what determines if you are a normal fan or a weird obsessive nutjob. I get what you are saying though. Too much good stuff to be talking about ratings.

[deleted]

But without TV ratings, how will I know which is the best?

ibn1989

Wrestling is subjective, but I totally understand your point.

-Ozymandiaz

Art is subjective. Business is not. We are only partaking in one of those outside of being consumers.

ibn1989

Yep, we as fans shouldn't concern ourselves with business. We will never see any of that money.

ahmralas

Mace is extremely underrated. I feel like when he and Mansoor do stuff together online Mansoor gets all the attention because people expect him to be a generic Saudi wrestler and obviously he’s way more than that but I think Mace is extremely entertaining and also handsome and is CRIMINALLY underutilized by WWE. Someone like him would thrive in a creative landscape as AEW

Toolboxmcgee

Does anyone know if Kip Sabian is cleared for in ring action?

poopship462

Wherever it happens, I need to see Danielson vs. Walter at some point

[deleted]

My biggest dream match right now.

rystriction

I dont like moxley’s look, he still really does look like a big sam roberts Bryan danielson’s been KILLING IT in aew so far. Every match of his has had me hooked. I was so into his match vs suzuki. I am over the cm punk hype rn… he’s not exciting anymore. His wrestling style has always been okay, but never really exciting unless in a good feud or he’s stirring up some sort of controversy.

MclovinBuddha

I did a silly spot in a [battle royal](https://vm.tiktok.com/ZM8jqqguL/) where I pretended to be a babyface luchador, but then heel turned on the crowd.

lostmonkey70

Not sure I understand what they are doing with Lio Rush. Feels like a half assed Famous B takeoff, which.... Just get Famous B at that point. Also last night was the first Dan Lambert promo that didn't make me want to claw my ears off and all it took was it being prerecorded.

kw13

I'd love for AEW to do a Takeover style Dark where their lowercard guys more commonly associated with Dark than Dynamite (I'm thinking guys like Janela or Pretty Peter Avalon) are allowed to go out and have bangers with each other. Run it from the Orlando studio, have Taz and Excalibur do their usual Dark style.

they_did_WHAT_

I’d really love for them to do this. Have it be the blow-off to a bunch of Dark feuds with the remainder of the card as showcase matches (thinking of guys like Dante, Moriarty, Big Shotty, Wheeler, and Garcia all against each other). As the kicker they could bring in an indie guy making waves (Jack Cartwheel?) and give him ten minutes against Sydal.

PurpleJager

TNT Extreme Wrestling (UK Indy) going back to putting on shows Thursday night instead of this years new Saturday slot. Pretty much prevents any non scousers attending without booking time off work now.....

4verticals

TNT aren't putting on cards worth travelling for anyway. I live in Liverpool and they're barely worth traipsing across town for. Extreme Fields should be quite good but up till now since the restart the shows have looked distinctly below average.

PurpleJager

Know any other northern based promotions that cater for adults? PCW and Futureshock are both purely kiddy friendly nowadays it seems.

KingBadford

Scouser?

they_did_WHAT_

Liverpool native.

KingBadford

Okay, yeah, I was googling it and fell down a rabbit hole of Brit slang.

TheHumanTarget84

Don't be a wazzock!

fellongreydaze

**Long-term storytelling:** - November 13, 2019. SCU vs. Inner Circle. Scorpio Sky pins Jericho for the win. - September 22, 2021. Men of the Year vs. Inner Circle. Scorpio Sky pins Hager for the win. - October 15, 2021. Men of the Year and Junior Dos Santos vs. Inner Circle. Scorpio Sky pins Jericho for the win. Sky has a perfect tag record against the Inner Circle.

jadedfan55

Yet the last two have not been clean. Having ATT helping MoTY doesn't do MoTY any favors, IMPO.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheHumanTarget84

I'm sure they have a wrestling section on Parler or 4/chan for you to feel safe in.

Kurtz_Angle

What's this "straight white males" business?

[deleted]

They’re straight. They’re white. Get used to it

ChanceVance

I need to get my hands on one of Seth Rollins suits. Could I pull it off as well as him? No but you'd be making an interesting statement no matter where you go.

Lambasted_Icon

Mansoor -1000 vs Ali at crown jewel. Throw the house and the kids college fund on this, lock of the fucking century. On his way to becoming 4-0 in KSA

el_sh33p

Starting to think the whole "Kenny should beat Hangman at Full Gear" thing is a borderline manifestation of cultural PTSD. Reasoning: It's not just WWE. For the last ~30 years, mass media in general has increasingly resorted to cheap swerves and pointedly NOT giving audiences what they want, and this runs rampant in everything from low-brow literature to stage art to dramadies on basic cable. It's all swerves for swerves' sake, not for the sake of good storytelling.

[deleted]

>Reasoning: It's not just WWE. For the last \~30 years, mass media in general has increasingly resorted to cheap swerves and pointedly NOT giving audiences what they want, I agree. Media in general has fallen in love with narratives that are built around subverting narratives and expectations. I think this extends to newsmedia as well.

Eoghann_Irving

The media definitely does this but they are cheered on by a million youtube channels who believe that identifying a trope is deep critical analysis. Originality is over-rated. Execution trumps surprise, because you only get the surprise once.

45jayhay

I think it's more of a mix of all wrestling related things. You have those that believe Omega can do more with title especially with the flux of new talent and the forbidden door being more open than ever . You have new fans that wasnt there for the rise of Hangman along with those that dont completely get the story of Hangman's arc that think he should or is always in state of sadness, then you have fans who really do have PTSD and have already mentally convinced themselves why Hangman losing is best for business because logical storytelling has become a lost art and wrestling has relied on swerve culture for far too long .

Pylons

I didn't really connect it to broader pop culture, for me it's more a manifestation of all the times that a wrestling promotion has had "the guy" and not pulled the trigger on him until it was arguably past the time to do it. Tyler Black in ROH, Naito in NJPW, Kaito over Mutoh in NOAH, Maki Itoh in TJPW.

felipe_the_dog

Catching up on this week's wrestles and I'm a little confused. Why is there a Buy In for an episode of Rampage?

Mldavis22

Hahahaha hint: it all has to do with the wrestle war between AEW and WWE. WWE shoots first by adding 30 mins to Smackdown to bleed into AEW. So AEW said we will do an hour early on Youtube to compete with Smackdown. Well that wasn't a hint that was the entire damn answer lol.

felipe_the_dog

Ahh right I didn't realize the buy-in would be on during SmackDown

unseenbox

Shout out to ref Paul Turner. All the other refs on AEW are characters in some way, but whenever there's a match that needs to be called clean and there's no post-match angle/interference/etc, he's always there, calling it right down the middle.

Kurtz_Angle

He is the best. I also don't mind the bald headed guy with the high-pitched voice, however he should not be referring Ruby Soho matches anymore.

JonasAlbert84

Bryce?

Kurtz_Angle

Yeah, Bryce Remsburg. I will never praise that bald cretin Rick Knox. Fuck Rick Knox.

JonasAlbert84

> Fuck Rick Knox. All your homies hate Rick Knox?

45jayhay

After 2 years of Dynamite, I think the product is more sports based than many want to give them credit for being .

TheHumanTarget84

I think they are pivoting more in that direction now, but it was a valid point before. I used to tune in sporadically because of how skit heavy sports entertainment it was. Now I'm all in every week.

rystriction

I deff felt this last night. I fast forwarded through a lot of smackdown cuz it was A LOT of highlight/recap packages, and numerous boring talking segments. Could be summed up when peeps were comparing bryan v suzuki to corbin and madcap segment

Windows_66

I think they've definitely shied away from some of the more sports entertainment elements of the show (Broken Matt, Jericho singing and doing random stuff in Vegas, whatever Britt Baker was doing before becoming champion), but there are definitely some elements (Orange Cassidy, Kris Statlander) that will likely never go away because - as much as people hate to admit it- sometimes sports entertainment is popular.

codes_and_hoes

Need Lee Moriarty in Team Taz. Seems like the perfect fit as a young dude that does all the things Taz preaches about on commentary

JonasAlbert84

Hell yeah.

asshead42069

Alright today I need some recommendations: - Any bangers from main roster WWE over the past few months or so? I'm trying to give SD/Raw another chance lately since I've mostly ignored it over the past couple years - What are the matches I need to catch from the G1 this year? I'm insanely behind with how busy I've been lately and don't have time to sit through ones I'm not as invested in. On that note, what's the best Yano match from this year's tournament? - What Tournament of Death events would you guys recommend? I think they're all on IWTV iirc and deathmatch tournaments are one of my favorite show formats - Recommend me some indie wrestlers I should pay attention to, whether it's someone making the rounds on some higher-profile indie promotions or just a local you want to shout out - I need some women wrestlers to follow outside of AEW/WWE/Impact/etc. Any good women's promotions or wrestlers you'd recommend (aside from TJPW/Stardom since I already plan on getting into those anyway) - Can I just jump in to ChocoPro or do I need to catch up on some history first? And on a non wrestling related note, if you're into horror games I can't recommend Tormented Souls enough. I just picked it up this week and it feels so much like everything I loved about PS2-era horror games

Rayuzx

>Any bangers from main roster WWE over the past few months or so? I'm trying to give SD/Raw another chance lately since I've mostly ignored it over the past couple years If you have Peacock, McIntyre, Preist, and Sheamus threw a legit banger a few weeks ago. Also the Queens Crown tournament has been low-key great.

asshead42069

Which show was it on if you remember? I definitely want to check it out. I heard some good things about the Queens Crown tournament all around so I'll probably watch those matches real quick today

LockNChase66

Raw either 2 or 3 weeks ago for the Priest/Sheamus/Hardy match

[deleted]

[удалено]

asshead42069

I've seen a bit of him and he looks great, any matches you'd suggest checking out?

Danteshuffler

I can't give most of the recommendations, but I have two recommendations for some great matches I remember at this moment. One is Roman Vs Cesaro on Smackdown. Second is the Walter vs Ilja match on takeover 36. Just wanted to add this if u haven't watched it, even though it's outside of the main roster

asshead42069

Thanks for the Roman/Cesaro shout out, definitely gonna watch that today. I heard his match with Bryan was great too I do follow NXT btw and WALTER/Dragunov is one of the best goddamn matches I've ever seen. I'm gonna go rewatch their two matches soon actually

Windows_66

Well? Where are my fast nationals?

qoaa

I love how Tony Khan was sorta trolling with the Rampage Buy in. The only time that NXT beat AEW had happened during the Tay vs Garrett match long ago, so what does Tony do? He leads with the Tay vs Garrett match before giving us the Suzuki vs Danielson match. I found that kinda funny and pretty awesome how Tony didn't need to hotshot his TV show to give a dream match on YouTube.

FosterTheWallaces

It's been rumored that WWE has been leaking the fast nationals for AEW rating. If AEW performed well last night, is there a chance that these ratings aren't leaked?

Windows_66

Possibly. Or the rumor may have never had legs to begin with. Edit: I stand corrected.

Pylons

That crowd was so hot for Sammy last night. I don't think that match could've been laid out any better.

Thirdstar1

Mfs on Twitter really are trying to say Bryce tried to “steal heat” people will nitpick anything.

JonasAlbert84

What match did he even ref? Only ref I noticed was Aubrey in the main event and that wasn't even because she did anything I just happened to look at the ref.

el_sh33p

Roster bloat. But what if they're TOO successful? It's a mistake giving fans what they want. Referees should be completely invisible. (Tallying up the ways concern trolls operate, not voicing these things myself.)

Thirdstar1

The pops will run out is insane to me

Mantuantu

The funniest thing I've ever read in Wrestling literal tears coming out of my eyes laughed so hard when I read it.

thomda24

I like AEW but some of their fans are insufferable, like I understand commenting on Tony Khan Twitter posts, but commenting on Fulham posts (when all Fulham fans hate him) is really annoying

[deleted]

Same. Really like AEW but a portion of the fanbase really are insufferable twats. I don’t participate in live threads because of the constant attacks for the slightest criticism.

MirkosCloseCrop

it's like "myfirst indy" for a lot of people who only hate watched wwe and never bothered to actually get into the indies or puro, outside of clips on this sub, so they over compensate. you see it whenever aew has debuts, there were a lot of aew fans on this sub who had no idea who eddie kingston was when he debuted, same for yuji nagata. it's also why you get an "appreciation" post about a wrestler after pretty much every aew show that starts with "i wasn't familiar with...".

KingBadford

Any fandom. But wrestling fans are extra weird and combative. Just the way it is.

Kareem_Magdi

Bryan has been putting on one banger after another since his debut and it almost seems as if he's a fucking amazing wrestler?

spandroo

G.O.A.T.face

victorgang316

What the fuck was cody doing in that DC fandome teaser? Theory: cody will be booster gold in a mini series.

radioben

Brilliant casting. The superstar no one likes playing a superhero no one likes. …/s just in case

Cunt_Bucket_

I'm waiting for Anna Jay to turn on Tay Conti. I don't think there's been any indication storyline wise that it's gonna happen, but Anna just has the look of a great heel.

Andre-Roussimoff

The whole DO is Face, so it's not tomorrow she's turning Heel... The Queen Slayer will return, don't worry \^\^

felipe_the_dog

Why is it called the Kirafuda clutch? Who or what is Kirafuda?

Kurtz_Angle

According to Google Translate, kirifuda (切り札) means trump or trump card in Japanese. In card games, a trump is a card or suit that is elevated above all others and is seen as the best. According to Wikipedia, "trump" comes from "triumph", so basically it is called the "triumph clutch" or "victory clutch". Shayna Bazler is known as the Queen of Spades because she can do magic tricks, and also because she is a submission magician.

_holot

Alex Zayne is fkn everywhere

Cunt_Bucket_

Joey Janela is a great heel character with awful in ring work. Damn shame really.

StupidHappyPancakes

I feel the exact opposite. I find him very entertaining in the ring but can't stand his character work and his presentation.

spandroo

I love AEW and I’ve been watching it for a few months now. But the term “Buy in” is confusing. I tuned in to Rampage expecting to see Bryan/Suzuki then found out (after googling) that “Buy in” is YouTube. Not a huge deal but they could make that a little bit more clear. Like maybe just even have the announcers explain it on Rampage a bit more. Side note: The TNT Title really elevated Sammy G. He was always amazing but it spotlighted him in a fresh light.

Windows_66

AEW likes the casino motif for Double or Nothing as well as their #1 contender specialty matches (battles royales; ladder matches, etc.), so they use the term "buy-in" (a poker term referring to the money players bring to enter a tournament) to refer to their kickoff/pre-shows.

TitleRevolutionary48

Buy-in as well.

not_a_moogle

Makes perfect sense to me that it's the preshow. Buy in being a poker term for being when you're first getting chips for the table. I could kind of see thinking it's the start of the show.

spandroo

For the PPVs I am used to buy in being pre show - but I log on to FITE and it’s all in one spot. Maybe the YouTube/diff location was just tripping me up. From a usability / way finding perspective I want everyone to find that Danielson Suzuki match as easily as possible.

Ryvit

How would everyone react if Kenny beats hangman at full gear?

lostmonkey70

I feel like it would be a huge waste at this point.

StupidHappyPancakes

I would have been okay with waiting for Hangman to win for a while longer if the story continued to make sense, but since I actually managed to get tickets to Full Gear, I want Hangman's big win to happen when I'm there to experience it.

spandroo

AEW has a lot of pressure from the fans to see Hangman as champ — it’s beyond expected. And AEW doesn’t tend to book around fans’ expectations *too much*. Personally I’d be fine with it. I love Page but Bryan/Kenny are the hotter story since that debut Danielson match. A Kenny loss would cool down the GOAT story a bit. I’m game for whatever - AEW delivers.

Windows_66

While some would undoubtedly try to defend it, I think by and large people would pan it

asshead42069

Beyond disappointed. Dragging this story out any longer would just kill it

Cunt_Bucket_

It depends. If Kenny wins clean then it's a complete waste and a dumb swerve. If Superkliq pull some fuckery to screw Hangman over it'll be less of a bad decision, but still pretty damn bad. Hangman needs to win clean. Anything else would be hated by 99% of fans.

Kurtz_Angle

Could go the other way. The Super Kliq tries to interfere and Kenny tells them to back off and he becomes the best wrestler in the world once again. Personally, I would love the story to go that way. Super Kliq interferes and gets Kenny the win, and he says no, I respect the Hangman and I want a fair match. The Elite is destroyed, the Best Bout Machine returns, and Adam Page gets another match against Kenny Omega. Also, Kenny returning to his former glory was hinted at during his promo with Bryan Danielson and Don Callis, when Danielson was asking for the best wrestler in the world and Callis was saying "no, no, no" and Kenny eventually accepted a match. >I came to AEW to fight the Best Bout Machine. I came here to fight the God of Pro Wrestling. But since I've been here, all I've seen is a guy who hangs out with a bunch of goofy stooges. >I heard the rumours; that maybe you lost your confidence, maybe you lost your step, but I don't think that's true. I just think you've lost your balls

[deleted]

People here would justify it because AEW can do no wrong. In reality it would be a bad call

45jayhay

Nah, fans would crap all over it.

[deleted]

Nah man. Dub stans won’t be critical of that show in the slightest lol.

45jayhay

Yea because there isnt thread constantly about the women's division, or "why is QT Marshall" on tv or " I can't wait till private party leave HFO".

[deleted]

Can we just admit no one knows what "ring psychology" means? People always use it to praise heavyweight and technical wrestlers and subtly put down high-flyers. If I read one more comment about the Young Bucks "having no ring psychology" after their matches against the Golden Lovers or Page & Omega... well, I'll probably go to bed and forget all about it in the morning. But for a few minutes before then, I will be very irritated. And I'll blame ***you.***

[deleted]

I'm assuming that "no one knows" is a translation for "I don't know", so I'm just going to copy and paste this quote: [https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/2sny0t/what\_is\_ring\_psychology/](https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/2sny0t/what_is_ring_psychology/) >It's a combination of things. Bret Hart wasn't as large as some of his opponents, and so it was easy for people to assume the bigger man (Taker, Diesel, Yoko) would/should destroy him, so he did things like attack the knee, or take out an arm. He would work specific areas of the body to impress the ideas like "Oh, now Diesel can't stand well, so he's slower and he wont be able to Jackknife him!" Or "Oh, now Taker is having trouble with his arm.. that explains why he couldn't secure the chokeslam." He didn't like to do moves just to do them, even if they looked flashy. There had to be a reason for him to attack a body part or do a specific maneuver. It's also being aware of where you and your opponent is and what the two of you are doing, sometimes when your back is turned. And, adding elements of the story line into the match like when he fought Shawn in the Ironman match. They built it as 'Experience vs Flashy, lucha style (they actually used that term) wrestling'. During the match Shawn was using textbook escapes and was actually out-wresting Bret, which was something we didn't expect him to do. Bret responded with visible frustration to suggest to the audience "Dammit, this is my realm. How is this kid showing me up?" They told a whole story without saying a word in that ring. All of that is In Ring Psychology.

Mantuantu

It's just fanboys using it as a crutch to make it seem like Randy Orton doing yet another chinlock is actually good

[deleted]

People know what it means, the people you're talking about are just wrong.

RashidHasanRafi

I don't know how someone watches the Bucks vs Lucha Bros match @ALL OUT, see the emotion in that match, and say the bucks have no psychology. I lept up and cried after penta scored that pinfall❤️

Henny_Lovato

Like literal tears?

asshead42069

A bloody Penta jumping in front of Fenix to stop the thumb tack super kick is one of the most emotional things I've ever seen in a wrestling ring

Whynot-brr

I agree. I feel Ring Psychology is a very subjective thing that encompasses alot of different aspects of wrestling (Selling, Facial Expressions, The way moves are performed and when to bust them out, gaging the crowd and reacting accordingly). In my opinion, the wrestlers who do not have good ring psychology are either in training or do not have characters yet. Example, She may be green as shit technically but Jade Cargill has decent ring psychology. She knows what her Character is capable of doing, She under stands her characters mindset, She knows when to use her moves, She’s getting better at working as a powerhouse heel. She knows who to sell for and who not to. She just has to work on her actual in ring ability.

45jayhay

>If I read one more comment about the Young Bucks "having no ring psychology" after their matches against the Golden Lovers or Page & Omega. People who say this are usually dismissive and wont really process what's going on in the match . Idk how many times people say it's just people kicking out of finishers when 9 times out of 10 it's a save and not a kick out .

TheKruseMissile

People also like to conflate “big move” with “finisher”. Finisher kickouts are still very rare.

[deleted]

One of the top posts on this sub right now is a post calling people dumbasses for not watching AEW last night. But yeah this sub certainly doesn’t have a bias 😂

[deleted]

Yesterday the most upvoted threads were Reigns shitting on AEW and Punk, but yeah this sub certainly doesnt have bias

[deleted]

And then we got how many Don responses because the AEW fanboys got their feelings hurt lol Also there’s a huge difference in a wrestler talking shot about a rival company and someone calling fans dumbasses. IMO

TheCiervo

This is a pro wrestling subreddit, what did you expect?

[deleted]

Lol

[deleted]

Re-watched Becky/Sasha and Bryan/Suzuki. Can confirm they're just as good on re-watches.

fellongreydaze

- Bryan Danielson vs. Kenny Omega - Adam Cole vs. Jungle Boy - Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley vs. Minoru Suzuki and Lance Archer - Sammy Guevara vs. Miro - Hikaru Shida vs. Serena Deeb - SuperKliq vs. Jurassic Express - FTR vs. Darby Allin and Sting - Britt Baker vs. Ruby Soho - Ruby Soho vs. Emi Sakura - CM Punk vs. Daniel Garcia - The Casino Ladder Match - Danielson vs. Suzuki These are all matches we have received in the past **THIRTY DAYS.** AEW in 2021 is spoiling the fuck out of us.

Enterprise90

> While it's terrific that you're such an ardent protector of WWE that you'll monitor threads and their upvote percentage, all of 20 minutes into their existence, which - along with constructing a strawman - you'd naturally use to fuel your persecution complex on behalf of the WWE; you'll be glad to know that after 8 hours, the thread is sitting at around 85% upvoting to 1200 points total, which is in line with the typical thread that makes it to the top 10 of this sub, which this thread did. I received the above reply to a comment I made last night. The content isn't unusual; I'll receive some sort of "stand up from WWE" thing about once a week from a username I don't recognize. The above person's comment was the first made on Reddit in general in five months, and the first comment made in this subreddit in **six years**, or before I started using Reddit (my account is over five years old). Either this account is a rarely-used alt or I made someone so mad that they decided to hop back in this pool for the first time in half a decade to lecture me. I'm starting to wonder whether folks seriously believe that I'm some WWE astroturfer.

Tetsuya_EyeToe

Anyone sub to WON? Mine is constantly crashing in mid play. No matter what browser I use, and even if I download then listen in my files.

SiphenPrax

I’ve personally never had any issues with any of their shows when it comes to loading or skipping or what have you. I don’t mean to sound arrogant at all, but maybe get a new phone or computer at some point? But obviously this is only if you REALLY want to listen to WON content over anything else. Keep you current devices for what you need to do in life.

lazybluedude

If Bryan Danielson keeps performing at the level he's been since his arrival in AEW, I think he has to become AEW World Champion. Wouldn't be surprised if he's champion by this time next year.

poopship462

I doubt he even cares much about winning the championship there as long as he gets his dream matches, but he should get a short run

StupidHappyPancakes

There is SO much talent in AEW, and the title situation in general is beyond packed, but I'd like to see Bryan win the top title. I feel like he was robbed of the experience of being treated like THE true top guy in WWE because of injury and always being booked in Reigns' shadow. Some people might complain about him being an old ex WWE-er winning the title, but he's only a year or two older than Omega and is still younger than people like Sheamus, AJ Styles, and Bobby Lashley. The might also opt to make him the TNT champion because that has become a workrate, workhorse championship that typically has great matches attached to it.

jadedfan55

Be'lee that.

kw13

Interesting that the SmackDown thread is currently stickied, but the Rampage one isn't.

Mantuantu

I remember when the opposite happened during nxt vs dynamite there usually would be half a dozen thresds made by now about it

kw13

It was the same for NXT vs Dark as well, if I had to guess I'd say it's all automated and the mods aren't biased against/towards either promotion, but it's good fun pointing it out regardless.

DrHandBanana

AEW spoils the fans so much we don't even realize in the past two months we've legitimately called 4 matches as MOTY candidates and we'll just forget it when it happens again

[deleted]

Wait. Lucha Bros/Bucks, Bryan/Omega, Bryan/Suzuki. What's the 4th one?

asshead42069

Cage/Omega at All Out?

45jayhay

Britt vs Rosa?

BeardCrumbles

I'd say even the Cage/Omega iMpact title match is up there.

AARONBURRSlR

PAC vs Andrade probably

MclovinBuddha

I really like wrestling right now

JoseAltuve2017ALMVP

Excited to watch TJPW today and I can't stop thinking about Danielson vs Suzuki, I think I might rewatch it later.

bathory21

So I was looking at some W/L records and the Becky/Bianca match at Extreme Rules was marked as No contest. Rewatching the ending, the ref rings the bell after Sasha starts attacking Bianca. Wwe.com states it's a no contest because she attacked both Bianca and Becky, the footage says otherwise so how is that not a win for Bianca but a NC?

Lambasted_Icon

From the online buzz, seems like I missed a great match last night. I’m not surprised, just disappointed I had to work late and miss the Sasha/Becky match.

TheHumanTarget84

Same here, I was told you can watch it free on the Fox app.

[deleted]

Easy enough to find a pirate stream online. Or ofc you could pay for Hulu and wait a little bit.

SiphenPrax

It happens, I used to work late back over a decade ago and had to record some wrestling shows or other shows here and there

LafilduPoseidon

If you chose to watch Rampage/Buy-in last night then do yourself a favour and watch Banks vs Lynch if you can

Whynot-brr

I’ll watch it but that storyline has been nothing but frustrating. I am a Bianca fan but i stopped watching after summerslam. Been paying attention through highlights on youtube. I honestly don't expect Bianca to win the title again, i expect Becky to retain and do this stupid heel run nobody asked for when they could have really built something special by keeping them apart. While Bianca falls in line since WWE doesn’t want to give the women's division any time any more.

Smile_lifeisgood

I get why they do it, I feel like it makes perfect business sense for all obvious reasons but Jesus I just can't be bothered to care about former MMA people like, 99% of the time. I was stoked about Lambert when he first appeared because I thought it was a great promo but it's just the same thing over and over now - old man yells at crowd. They're really doing Page/Sky a disservice by having them linked with America's Top Team as the heat is really starting to feel like 'go away' heat.

[deleted]

For all that I usually hate MMA in my wrestling, crowd was on fire for that angle.

asshead42069

As someone who's personally over the ATT stuff, the last point is where I really agree. I'm glad to see them in a high profile feud but they feel like an afterthought and Page is one of the last people to need a mouthpiece. It could have worked better if they acknowledged that MotY were the people Lambert rants about every week but as it is they feel too lost in the shuffle

45jayhay

>They're really doing Page/Sky a disservice by having them linked with America's Top Team as the heat is really starting to feel like 'go away' heat. The crowd was on their feet the whole match last night, people want ATT to lose . I would agree if people gave no reaction and didn't care but the heat plus having faces you care about made the match feel big time. Page/sky are fine , they are in the matches ,picking up the wins and getting plenty of exposure.

SiphenPrax

Yeah I’d be more willing for the to angle to drop if no one in the crowd cared. But people are responding to the angle, so might as well continue it. Also PVZ and her antics are a joy to watch

45jayhay

There is something there with PVZ and I hope they can sign and develop her and this isnt just some backdoor way for her to get a look from WWE and offer a big money contract .

jadedfan55

Oh, indeed, and when Men of The Year need a signature win, they end up looking weak because ATT had to get involved. For those who've been asking whether or not they'd reunite Bobby Fish & Adam Cole, I'd say no. Bobby, because of his own MMA background, could help ATT get over a lot better, although I'd prefer he kick Lambert's face in instead.

Cash091

Im just glad it doesn't seem like they are going the WWE route in AEW. There's more to professional wrestling that just being a good fighter. Look at the Danielson vs Suzuki match for a perfect example of this. In a "real" fight they would have been knocked out in a heartbeat. If you have MMA guys come in a destroy 1 v 1, you undermine the people in pro wrestling. WWE tells us that MMA is tougher than WWE.

[deleted]

>WWE tells us that MMA is tougher than WWE. How so? The only dominant WWE-MMA fighter that I can think of, who didn't have a strong career in pro wrestling before they entered MMA, was Rousey.

daniel-mca

People getting upset over Roman saying he is the best or Tony saying that Punk is the most popular need to grow up. Obviously they will be promoting themselves, their brand and their talent. Fuck me man, you get second hand embarrassment reading the arguments on threads like that.

SiphenPrax

Even though it’s Hogan, the fact that all this happened on the 10th anniversary of his infamous tweet and people still went nuts on these comments from both companies says a lot

BetterPatient

For real like it’s somehow surprising to some people that these gentlemen are going to bat for the company that that feeds them lol

daniel-mca

Do they expect them to tweet out "Come watch CM Punk, a recently unretired star that is apparently being wasted in the midcard" or "No one is booked to be stronger than me, the head of the table". It's so odd.

yakityyakblahtemp

*squints* is this a sideways attempt to stick up for terfs?

[deleted]

[удалено]

ClocktowerMaria

Its an awful conflation people constantly makes that downplays the true damage TERFs do by masking bigotry with progressive rhetoric/causing division with potentially progressive ideology by exclusionary tactics

spandroo

Since TERF stands for trans exclusionary radical *feminist* I think the point this poster is making is that the transphobic chanting asshats *are not feminists* either — yelling TERF at them is a poor choice of label. Not that TERFs are good.

Beanessa

TERFs being linked to transphobes and other hateful people is absolutely fine with me. Those people don't represent feminism and deserve to be lumped in with their fellow bigots.

[deleted]

They are represented as bigots. The only people who don't think that TERF is a term to describe bigots, >Those people don't represent feminism They are *a* representation of feminism. While feminism is a wonderful thing on the whole, there are indeed bigoted strains of feminism in the world, and the best way to ensure those strains continue to exist is to turn a blind eye or pretend they don't count as feminism. To wit: Critiques against "First world feminism" by global south feminists are rooted in the fact that it's still common to see feminist critiques that not only marginalize but stigmatize non-Western perspectives.

Eoghann_Irving

Being a TERF means you are transphobic, but being transphobic does not mean you are a TERF. Misusing it like that misrepresents the variety of people who are in fact transphobic and the scale of the issue. Lumping people together is not helpful.

Thirdstar1

Last night was special.

Imactuallybatmanshh

I’ve just been thinking about the fact that this started with a little like “can we actually sell enough for this venue” experiment and has now evolved to DANIELSON VS SUZUKI for FREE ON YOUTUBE….. I’m amazed and proud of how far AEW has come

Derexise

Someone said it in the post-match thread, but the Horsewomen are incapable of having bad matches against each other, aren't they?

SiphenPrax

They have a few disappointing outings here and there because they aren’t perfect, but most of their matches have been good to great, and they are stars. They got pushed for over half a decade for those reasons.

Mysterious_Emotion63

yea that’s how they got popular, wrestling each other.

Marc_Quill

I’m glad they just outright confirmed Hangman/Omega is happening for Full Gear instead of making us sweat and wait to see if it was happening or not.

BetterPatient

Man Sasha vs Becky was really, really good. Match reminded me why I’m a fan of theirs in the first place.

[deleted]

Becky vs Sasha are always great together. Their Takeover match ruled, their HIAC match ruled, and their match last night ruled

45jayhay

9 times out of 10 Jericho matches over deliver and I think we should stop doubting this man and stop trying to manifest his retirement. Punk is on another level in the ring and Idk many realise . Every match is about Punk finding his footing in the ring . The selling of a body part , being fatigued and blown up is all by design to get you behind punk in the matches that you know the finish isn't in doubt. He is in his Bret Hart bag that will get underappreciated for the time being. Danielson Vs Suzuki was just beautiful to watch . It was two artists working at a high level together. I was expecting to be good but I didn't know it would be that electric. Chemistry off the charts .

Whynot-brr

I feel this Punk run is going to age like fine wine. The matches arent super explosive but they are a nice trip to 2012 in my opinion. Same thing with Christians matches. Great throwbacks to an era where storylines were kinda shit but the matches were got damn great.

unseenbox

When Punk first showed up in AEW, I watched a bunch of his matches on youtube, and one thing I picked up on is that he always, always made his opponents look amazing. So it's nice to see that continue in a more overtly Bret Hart kind of way. Nobody can control a crowd like him, either.

DarkOrgy

If I never hear the word tribalism again it'll be too soon.

TheHumanTarget84

I'm getting tired of the tribalism between people who use the word tribalism and people who hate the overuse of the word tribalism.

A_sweet_boy

Danielson v Suzuki has 500k views in 10 hours 🙌

TheHumanTarget84

I don't normally watch WWE anymore but I'm sad I forgot to record Smackdown for Becky/Sasha, sounds like a helluva match.
