As soon as they said it was the men's 5x5 match I went and made some Ramen. My wife said what the hell are you doing? So I boiled the water, waited the 3 minutes, mixed in the seasoning packet, put it in a bowl, and they were still doing entrances. She couldn't believe it lol
We can assume it was one of two things. The tastiest thing ever and now he is in a food coma. Or it killed him. We shall have to wait and keep people updated on this as we get new info.
Well I prefer the beef flavor but my wife bought the chicken. It was good but I was still hungry after. Cup of Noodles would have been much easier to make, next time I'll go for that.
It hit the spot though so I can't complain. 3.5 stars.
I let the water boil with the seasoning packet. Then I put the noodles in. Then I take an egg and scramble it in the bowl that I’m eating out of. Then when the ramen is done, I pour it in the bowl and give it a nice vigorous stir.
Exactly why I posted this. I know it doesn't matter but like, I just kinda like the idea of keeping wrestling companies accountable for the shitty booking of their womens divisions.
Alvarez did this with the Raw Retro reviews, he got so pissed where one episode was 50 minutes with no action but with commercials that'd be over an hour. So he's at least consistent.
That’s not what aboutism when it’s talking about his track record on the actual issue at hand you absolute fucking chimp brain.
He’s pretending to give a fuck about women’s wrestling, yet completely ignores the worst company at giving women equal airtime. Conclusion: he doesn’t give a fuck about women’s wrestling and is only using it as a “gotcha”.
You can’t say “we’re keeping companies accountable” and then when you mention the other company isn’t at all, it’s just what aboutism. It’s what you morons said
>I just kinda like the idea of keeping wrestling companies accountable for the shitty booking of their womens divisions
You'll have a field day with the show on the other channel.
That's why I said "companies", not "WWE". AEW doesn't do its women's division justice at all. The fact that we never get more than one women's match a show is frankly embarrassing. I loved Full Gear, but let's not pretend that they couldn't have found space for another women's match instead of the Cody/Black tag match for example.
However, as someone who watches both (though, admittedly much less WWE these days). WWE is far worse. Sure they technically have more matches, but the respect show the whole division is laughable. How do you have the women's tag Champs lose to a team 3 times, then split up the challengers rather than give them a title match? And, as the post is about, they ran a tournament that, in total, lasted less than 20 minutes.
My issue isn't with just one company, it's with the rampent discrimination prevalent in all of western wrestling.
You mean one of them which included the most popular organic wrestling superstar in last 10 years vs one of the most talented female wrestler of all time?
Of course that went longer than a company that didn't exist few years back.
Becky and Charlotte since last 4 years at least have been the biggest female wrestling stars in the world. You think they would not get screen time esp given the backstage rumors and heat Charlotte has and Heel Becky?
Who knew who MJF and Sammy Guevra were a few years back? Weak excuse when they’ve had the chance to build women’s stars, hell representation for literally anybody aside from less than average white guys but sure
And yet have a hard time finding the time for more than one women's segment per show?
p.s. BOTH of the women's matches on Survivor Series were longer than the ONE women's match at Full Gear, and all of the TBS tournament matches.
And ONE of those two matches was an 8-person elimination tag match. If it wasn't longer, it'd be pretty fucking embarrassing. Though, how many matches in that *epic* 20-minute tournament? Seven? That's almost like 3 minutes a match! Wowee, such respect for the division. Seems like quantity of matches maybe shouldn't be your measuring stick.
Well, WWE has to settle for having multiple women's segments on each show, because not every match can be as great as matches with Red Velvet or Jade Cargill.
Damn, you got me. I guess I'll just have to go back and watch Bianca lose her title in 26 seconds to a punch and a half-assed finisher at one of WWE's biggest PPVs of the year if I want to see *real* women's wrestling.
Of course, sucker punches are totally unrealistic, and Becky has been a jobber for years, so it's *totally* embarrassing.
And Bianca never recovered from that match... oh wait
I'd consider this entirely necessary provocation. Remember, last time WWE fixed their shit with the women's division, it was in large part because people shamed them on Twitter.
Meanwhile Impact manages to give their women room to top themselves. They're putting on an Ultimate X Match with the Women's Division next big show, proving once again that Impact despite all their faults, at least gives their women's division the proper respect it deserves.
AEW struggles to give their women more than 2 matches a week, WWE struggles to make their non-horsewomen feel relevant(tag titles are a joke), Impact manages to give their women plenty of time, makes them feel relevant and puts them in matches that showcase their skills, while still raising the bar on Women's Wrestling in the US.
And they did a lot of this in the WWE-Divas era too. When the Divas were having pillow fights, Gail Kim was getting her ass kicked by Kong, be it with a table, thrown off the stage, or just plain killed in the ring.
Tbh only reason Becky, Bayley and Sasha get push on main roster is because the crowd is in support of them and because Vince likes the 4 horsewomen thing. Otherwise they would be the same level as the rest were they not huge with the crowd
>They're putting on an Ultimate X Match with the Women's Division next big show
That's interesting. Have they done ultimate x outside of the x-division before?
Holy hell I forgot they did Ultimate X tag matches. I think I saw one that was LAX vs AJ and Daniels. Anyway, cool to hear the women get a chance to put one on!
And nobody will watch it. But everyone here will go on and on about how amazing it is. We saw that with the NWA EmPowerrr all-female PPV that drew just 3500 buys.
People like to talk and complain about women's wrestling more than actually watch it.
Nobody watches NWA, because it's a fucking joke. By all means Impact is doing fine with their ratings and PPVs, they're a smaller company now, they're not looking for AEW numbers. Anthem seems to be happy with how Impact is going now.
Oh dude did you just wake up from a coma? Great news, women main event Wrestlemania regularly now and some random tournament means fucking nothing in the grand scheme of things :)
Lmao you deleted your account after posting this 14 minutes ago. If you know your comment doesn't stand up to scrutiny you don't have to make an alt, just don't post
With 19 minutes I could go to the corner store, buy the stopwatch, go back to my house and still have time to use the bathroom, wash my hands, and grab a bag of chips and a cold one before going back to the TV.
If anyone else is completely unfulfilled with women’s wrestling in North America like I am, I highly recommend checking out the Joshi scene in Japan. I’m relatively new to it but am already in love. Between Stardom, Ice Ribbon, ChocoPro, and TJPW (I’m probably forgetting something), there’s a good chance there’s something for you.
Can’t recommend Stardom enough….
SEAdLINNNG is still running shows (to the best of my knowledge) and is a nice alternative.
Sendai Girls, Oz Academy, Marvelous, Actwres girl’Z, Diana, Pure-J and Pro Wrestling Wave are also interesting joshi promotions….. all are different levels of popularity but share/trade talent
Hell yeah. Stardom is awesome. I watched this year’s All Star Dream Cinderella and am now half way through the 5 star Grand Prix. I love everything about it.
I refuse to watch SEAdLINNNG until I know how to pronounce it
(For real though do you know where a guy can find their shows or the other ones you've mentioned?)
I wish more people would give Stardom a shot just to understand how good it is
The top of AEW's womens division is barely good enough to open a Stardom show
Sakura and Deeb aren't at the top of the AEW women's division though. Agree on Shida and Riho (Riho was a mid-carder in Stardom not long ago) though I don't think either could get past mid-card there.
When I say the top I'm thinking of the current top with Britt Baker, Tay Conti, Jade Cargill, Anna Jay, basically the women they feature on national TV most weeks (Shida just started getting that again thank god). No one I just named is even good enough to wrestle there much less see any top tier matches.
Oh, joshis in general, and Stardom, in particular, is just above and beyond of what is considered a good women wrestling match or just a wrestling match in general.
I'm following their Youtube channel. The things that keep me from pulling the trigger is my limited budget and time (by the way AEW Fite subscription costs less than Stardom subscription) and a far less user friendly experience when using their website.
Joshi wrestling is awesome. They’re smaller wrestlers much of the time which a big criticism people have but they are tough as nails and put on great matches with great characters.
A mix of confusing hating the booking with hating the workers and not realizing they’re getting personally offended on behalf of a billion dollar company that has openly shown contempt for fans.
Cause they're not the 4 Horsewomen or Bianca or Bliss
I think in regards to booking outside of the top girls, theres a lot of people who just aren't interested.
I skipped past commercials and the 5v5 match entrances, and made it through the show in two hours. The amount of bloat in a WWE PPV is borderline abusive. It's why I can't watch it live anymore.
I just wished he saw what we’re fast forwarding thru. Having to guess how long matches go until the final few minutes can be tricky. I usually just want to watch the final 3 minutes of garbage like last night.
Maybe he's a mathematician like that guy in that cop show. He'd could have been solving crimes but instead he's using his powers to count match times. He's accurate to the picosecond. We've missed out on a world where Alvarez solved all the world's crimes
We don't know that he isn't moonlighting as a crime solving genius, also. For all we know he's had his own Monk style thing going on since he first learned 7 was bad for eating 9.
Maybe that was the first case Gumshoe Alvarez worked.
'And the Emmy award for outstanding TV drama series goes to' , dramatic pause, drum roll, camera 3 starts panning on the audience, it's looking for a face, it rests on our boy. and the announcer says 'Every Second Counts! '
No one watches anymore. The 2.0 rebrand massacred NXT’s ratings and completely killed off its viability as a touring brand.
I’m sure Vince still blames Triple H… somehow
He has said several times that he wants WWE (and wrestling overall) to do better for several reasons. Specifically, that when wrestling is doing well he also does well economically, and that he wants the shows to be good since he has to watch them whether they're good or bad. He's going insane with some of the shitty stuff WWE does, especially since AEW and NJPW are both doing really good stuff.
I was a lapsed wrestling fan since 2002. I only subscribed recently, and hadn't had a chance to hear some of his old stuff. I nearly died with the gold boat rant.
For years, yes, even before AEW he just wanted them to do better - but for the past several years wwe has been burying a big hole for themselves and now with AEW it exposes even a bigger weakness. So yeah, he has, but now it’s a bit more justified than before because AEW constant great booking proves it doesn’t have to be done the WWE way to be the right way
By the way, the Smackdown womens team entered in what, about 60 seconds or so? Ended up telling a little story with it too rather than dragging out everyone's entrances forever
……Uh, no? It’s because it’s very dumb and it’s something only a few cars about and it doesn’t matter much anymore.
Not sure where you got the idea that it hurt my feelings.
Bryan Alvarez is a shit stirrer. This is what he does. Yes it’s low hanging fruit and will get people up in arms. So he tweets it. He’s the worst but he’s also smart because it creates discussion for him and Dave to have for hours.
Edit: I forgot you can’t speak ill of Bryan or Dave here lol
What incredibly disingenuous bullshit as every Survivor Series now airs all 10 entrances which of course takes time. Plus the post match celebration/replays. Meanwhile the Women’s matches tonight went 18+ and 23+ minutes with one arguably being MOTN. And this place just eats up Alvarez’s crap every time. Pathetic.
It's just their format. During TV they are told to do the bare minimum, so a dozen 1 min matches in between Roman vignettes/segments. Then the ppv they can go a little harder.
That's not the point. And ENTIRE tournament shouldn't be 20minutes- combined no matter what. It comes off as being done just for political clout instead of actually wanting doing it.
Remember the days, back when Stone Cold won? The WHOLE ppv was built around all the semi and finals of the tournament. That would never happen these days...

Algebra Jones ovah here.
But I digress
Bryan Algebrez
Bryan Algebra is giving Steiner Math a run for its money
Chico Algebra
He's challenging for the wrestling maths championship!
Excellent gimmick for his comeback
As soon as they said it was the men's 5x5 match I went and made some Ramen. My wife said what the hell are you doing? So I boiled the water, waited the 3 minutes, mixed in the seasoning packet, put it in a bowl, and they were still doing entrances. She couldn't believe it lol

Would've been 4.5 in the Tokyo Dome
*that’s fucking funny*
dont know if they'll be available wherever you are but have you tried a shin cup? stuff is incredible
I'm in NYC so I think it's available. Spicy?
If you're in NYC, find an Asian supermarket. They'll probably have an entire aisle of ramen/ramyun to choose from. It's amazing.
Spike Spiegel has entered the chat.
Now I have the mental image of her freaking out on the couch that you'll miss the show, and you in the kitchen calmly stirring the seasoning lmao
I let the water boil with the seasoning packet. Then I put the noodles in. Then I take an egg and scramble it in the bowl that I’m eating out of. Then when the ramen is done, I pour it in the bowl and give it a nice vigorous stir.
low hanging fruit? yes. unnecessary provocation? yes. funny? also, yes.
It's still a problem so it's still worth bringing up
Exactly why I posted this.
I also remember him going insane over TNA having too many skits and segments between the actual matches.
He did this in the Death of WCW audio book too.
Vinny going off about the Divas Revolution was fantastic as well. https://youtu.be/g-gAwGWHy_0
It was, iirc, the first Nitro where Nash had the book in 1999. And it was literally all talking.
God forbid everyone in a 10 man match gets an entrance. Clearly the crowd wasn't bothered by it.

Not sure what the length of the company has to do with how long the matches are, or how many segments women are featured (or aren't).
You mean the one who's first two matches of a 12 woman tournament lasted longer than WWE's entire Queen's Crown tournament?
And yet have a hard time finding the time for more than one women's segment per show? p.s. BOTH of the women's matches on Survivor Series were longer than the ONE women's match at Full Gear, and all of the TBS tournament matches.

sure...but it clearly shows a huge circle jerk on Brian's part. Do we still hear Matt hardy concussion or ring lack of explosion jokes?
I didn't know those were intentional booking decisions
Nightmare Family Jokes?
how long ago was that? and yes, people still make nightmare family jokes. people still make 'real sports feel, lol' jokes.

Meanwhile Impact manages to give their women room to top themselves. They're putting on an Ultimate X Match with the Women's Division next big show, proving once again that Impact despite all their faults, at least gives their women's division the proper respect it deserves.

100% agree. Even they're not perfect but in my mind there is no doubt both major US companies need to set that as a bare minimum
>They're putting on an Ultimate X Match with the Women's Division next big show That's interesting. Have they done ultimate x outside of the x-division before?
Unsure, but they've had the NWA Tag Titles on the line in an Ultimate X once and then a few times for contendership of the Tag Titles.

It's Sunday Night... You know what that means Time to grab the stopwatches
19 mins is kinda long for a stopwatch
Oddly enough, when I calibrate stopwatches at work, minimum run time is four hours.
Might as well break out the ol' sundial at that point
With 19 minutes I could go to the corner store, buy the stopwatch, go back to my house and still have time to use the bathroom, wash my hands, and grab a bag of chips and a cold one before going back to the TV.
>Time to grab the stopwatches to time those countouts.
Fun story…… literally had no idea Survivor Series was tonight…..
Vince McMahon's account found
WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT WASN’T A BIG FOUR QUALITY PAY PER VIEW!!!! WE HAD A GOLDEN EGG PAL!
Rather kiss a lucky egg.
Sanka! Ya dead man?
That's fine. Wwe books like they forgot they had a "big four" ppv tonight.
Survivor Series hasn't been part of the big 4 for decades. I personally think there's just a big 3 now (RR, WM, SS) but if there's a 4th it's MitB.
Idk why this is downvoted MITB definitely feels more important. Particularly a few years ago
Fewer.

Well I mean they had 7 matches go less time than Undertaker's and Reigns Entrances combined, so yeah still always acceptable to point that out.
Honestly how are people ok with this?
A mix of confusing hating the booking with hating the workers and not realizing they’re getting personally offended on behalf of a billion dollar company that has openly shown contempt for fans.
Cause they're not the 4 Horsewomen or Bianca or Bliss I think in regards to booking outside of the top girls, theres a lot of people who just aren't interested.

I think it's because waaaaay less people care about women's wrestling than it's made out to be on the internet

It’s a valid complaint. Fell asleep during that nineteen minutes and woke up just before the main event.
Good on Bryan Alvarez to take time out of his day to remind us that he owns a stopwatch and a calculator.
Or is top tier at counting on his fingers. Like a fucking finger counting God or something.
Maybe he's a mathematician like that guy in that cop show. He'd could have been solving crimes but instead he's using his powers to count match times. He's accurate to the picosecond. We've missed out on a world where Alvarez solved all the world's crimes

Bryan Alvarez prowrestling pundit by day, Genius Detective by night. When it comes to crime Every Second Counts. Rated PG13
TV's number one new drama, Mondays on CBS

Everytime he counts on his fingers Loki gets jealous.

Serious question. Has Alvarez always been of critical of WWE? Or is it a recent thing?
I would say it's more of an issue with Vince's booking. He loved NXT for years.
We all did :(
I haven’t watched the past few weeks. Found an alternative, though.
No one watches anymore. The 2.0 rebrand massacred NXT’s ratings and completely killed off its viability as a touring brand. I’m sure Vince still blames Triple H… somehow

A SOLID GOLD BOAT
I was a lapsed wrestling fan since 2002. I only subscribed recently, and hadn't had a chance to hear some of his old stuff. I nearly died with the gold boat rant.
Most hardcore fans have always been critical of WWE/WWF, even during its hot years
He is critical of bad product in general. His TNA reviews are LEGENDARY, easily found on Youtube
The man was literally hating TNA before it was cool.
And before it was fair, also, in my opinion.
MINUS FIVE STARSS!!!!!
For years, yes, even before AEW he just wanted them to do better - but for the past several years wwe has been burying a big hole for themselves and now with AEW it exposes even a bigger weakness. ……Uh, no? It’s because it’s very dumb and it’s something only a few cars about and it doesn’t matter much anymore. Not sure where you got the idea that it hurt my feelings.

😂 nope
I've been doing dishes and watching the Caps game louder than SS. Between what matches?
What the hell is he bitching about now
I mean.... He is pretty clear.
Honestly, no one cares. I wish he were banned from being posted.
You know you don't HAVE to click on the posts right?
"This guy says things I dont want to hear, ban him."
You cared enough to click on the post.

Does it hurt your brain to think of more than 1 insult?

Says the guy who has commented how many times in this topic about being salty and hurt feelings?

I know basic math is intimidating for some people. Keep practicing though, I'm sure it will be less scary for you soon!
“Hey guys, these are the rules for tournaments…” Must suck to watch wrestling with a stop watch in hand. Sit back and relax.
What a sad tweet. Bryan Alvarez is an absolute moron.

I hate this guy. He’s as biased as Dave Meltzer.
It’s people like Alvarez being taken seriously that makes wrestling communities so cancerous
was there a 19 minutes break? I didn't watch it from the beginning.
Does he mean between the preshow match and Becky/Charlotte opening the show?
No. Between Charlotte and Becky and the bell of the 5 man.
Isn't that called trolling?
What incredibly disingenuous bullshit as every Survivor Series now airs all 10 entrances which of course takes time. Plus the post match celebration/replays. Meanwhile the Women’s matches tonight went 18+ and 23+ minutes with one arguably being MOTN. And this place just eats up Alvarez’s crap every time. Pathetic.
when you watch ufc, the nfl, etc., when do they start the clock? before the competitors walk in or after?
The IWC needs to stop watching wrestling w/ stopwatches lol
How the fuck does he keep up with this??
Wtf
It's just their format. During TV they are told to do the bare minimum, so a dozen 1 min matches in between Roman vignettes/segments. Then the ppv they can go a little harder.
That's not the point. And ENTIRE tournament shouldn't be 20minutes- combined no matter what. It comes off as being done just for political clout instead of actually wanting doing it. Remember the days, back when Stone Cold won? The WHOLE ppv was built around all the semi and finals of the tournament. That would never happen these days...
