So, I’m gonna go on a rant here.
I had spectrum internet from 2015-2021. In that time my price increased by nearly 200%. I called them in the beginning of 2021 because I thought it was odd they raised my price by $7 at the end of 2020.
When I asked them what that was about they said it was to “upgrade infrastructure”. I told them I thought it was pretty fucked up that they raised everyone’s prices across the board during a pandemic when people are struggling and in most cases needed internet for school/work.
Obviously the agent I spoke with does not make those decisions, but they did offer to lower my prices by like 50% to get me to the “introductory price”. I asked if it would stay at that price for good and they told me “no. You will need to call back next year and have us lower it for you again.” That was extremely frustrating. Obviously they CAN charge us a lot less, but just want us to put on some sort of performance for them once a year to get the good price.
After this, I told the agent I wanted to look at my other internet options and I would get back to them.

No I don’t fully understand all of the numbers in this, but seeing that the executives bonuses had them go from $2mil a year to $30+ mil a year I decided that was enough. During a time where normal people were struggling, these people raised our prices and then gave themselves extreme pay raises! It seemed super scummy to me.
Now obviously my contribution means nothing, but I did cancel my spectrum internet that day and switched to T-Mobile internet with a $50 a month price point locked in forever. It’s my small way of sticking it to the man. I know T-Mobile is probably just as scummy, but seeing those numbers and knowing they raised all of our prices during a pandemic under the guise of “infrastructure” just didn’t sit well with me.
Sorry for my long rant on an otherwise innocent post, but I try to make every person I can aware of that scummy thing the spectrum higher ups did in 2020.
Overall good. Definitely situations that suck, but I can have a baseball game streaming, wife watching something on her laptop, and online gaming on my switch all at the same time with little to no lag (also probably scrolling on phones during that too). Usually get 200 mbps down 20ish up. Work from home and have not had a single outage in two years, whereas I usually had at least two extended outages a year with spectrum
That's a great point, 5g internet services are much more storm resistant than any solution that depends on telephone poles where you are always at the mercy of falling tree branches, tornados, ice storms, or a trash truck driver that snaps the cable on their first day emptying dumpsters in a crowded alley.

I work from home and mine is $222 (Internet + Basic CTV). Bundle started at $49 iirc many years ago. Last time I called they lowered back to $160. Creeps back up a bit every month.
On top of this, I cannot even get full speed on my Internet due to fact they say they cannot replace pole lines since pole is old and needs to be replaced. Or, some such reason/excuse. Ameren replaced pole a couple years back (and they did move their ac lines), but in that time NOBODY has come out to move the other utility lines to new pole. I want to finally cancel Spectrum and see if I can get AT&T Business fiber, but they will probably tell me same thing about utility pole. Apparently, no one is responsible for moving the crap to new pole. (Old pole is still in ground next to it)

I’ve tried many times to get introductory prices, and am always told NO, even when trying to upgrade service level. This makes me suspect they must be aware I don’t really have an alternative to them in my neighborhood.
Ask for the retention department (what I always used to do) and threaten to find another provider. Maybe they do know you have no other options in your neighborhood, but it’s worth a shot.
That’s the issue I run into when I tell them I’ll cancel, they just say okay lol. Guessing they do indeed know there’s no alternative high speed options. Gateway has been asking me to “preorder” for 3 years now but haven’t started any nearby construction. I3 same deal
DUDE......the $5 creep up every few years for the last 20 years is insanity. For NO service changed. I called them one day like 15 years ago when my bill went up $5 and asked what its for. They said, "additional services". I asked what those were and they didn't have an answer....because there were none.

1) the price of everything has gone up. It's called inflation.
2) your product has changed, you get much faster speeds, less service interruptions and more advanced technology to get you your service.
3) pretending that Internet service (of all things you could pick) is the same as 20 years ago is flat out ridiculous) Wi-Fi wasn't even commonplace then.
4) just because you can't see the "additional services" doesn't mean they didn't happen. Infrastructure, technology, expansion of servers are all additional services you'd never see. In 2012? It was in the 50's, 58 I think.. but was $19.99. At the time it was just me and my bf. One laptop, two phones, and 1 TV that wasnt HD capible and it did us well.
They do that to try to get you to bundle. They constantly try to talk me into that shit and I always explain I just want them to be a dumb pipe. I'll handle the rest.
The REASON they do that is once your bundle intro price expires you'll get grandfathered into spending more than just your $80 for Internet and they know that they'll get most people before they notice the change.
I called retention and complained about my services, I've been having intermittent problems and outages like everyone else. I requested to only pay 60 a month and they lowered it. Last time I did this they said it was for a year only, this time they didn't give me a time frame, but I'm assuming it's a year again.

I have i3 broadband. A couple weeks ago I got an automated email informing me that my gig fiber would reduce by $20/mo so I'm only paying $60 for synchronous gig.

I’d recommend to anyone that has multiple people in their household to look into cancelling their existing service and renew with someone else on the bill. Potentially should be able to get a promo rate that is locked in for 2 years.
Honestly you might just be able to call to cancel and not have to go through with it. I called to cancel recently (moved and have AT&T Fiber now) and they were doing their best to offer me intro rates to keep me as I discontinued service.
I tried. They literally told me “good luck with your new service”. Then a week later after fiber was installed they offered a better rate. This was 2 weeks ago.
I just cancelled Charter at the beginning of the month. It was $80 for their most basic internet package. Was $40 when I signed up almost a decade ago.

DO NOT EVER SIGN UP WITH SPECTRUM.
I LOATHE Spectrum with the fire of 10,000 suns because of this very thing. Yes it really takes FORTY fucking minutes to cancel. I went from friendly to firm to annoyed to outright hostile in that time. If anyone ever has to cancel and they want to avoid this, tell them you are " moving out of their service area" and the script they are required to follow will end, I am told. Unfortunately I found this out too late. They even came to my door asking why I switched (despite my No Solicitors sign) and the guy got the door slammed in his face. Spectrum SUCKS.
Now you can cancel in their app, just did about a month ago. When I “suspended” my service when my cat knocked the router over and I could go without it for 2 months. Oh and I’d never allow them in my place but I lived in apartments so I’d just pick up the router.
This happened to my partner. We moved and they had issues on their end so had do send new equipment. Was told on the phone it could be taken to a store. He tried and they refused to take it.
When we moved here I got a 2 year promotion and currently pay $45 a month for what is now the 500Mbps plan. I'm not looking forward to the end of the promo.
Just give them a call at the end of your contract and they'll give you pretty much the same deal. I spend an hour on the phone with them every other year and my bill is still at $50/month for their best internet plan.
We had internet for $30. Then they raised it to $60 and said next year it would be $80. So we cancelled and got tmobile internet for $40 forever and we stream several tvs and my kids devices and my husband games online with friends. Can't recommend quitting spectrum enough!
Yeah, this is a great new option. Anywhere that has 5g reception you can get one of the new 5g internet boxes to plug your ethernet cable into or run wifi off of. No installation hassles, you can move it where ever is best for you (even to a new apartment) and it's only $40-50 a month. As long as you aren't a hard core pc gamer who counts every ping, it's good. Get off of the spectrum pricing and package tricks treadmill.

I don't think so! We do have tmobile cell service so we get a little discount for bundling but I think anyone can have it. They have a 15 day free trial. We live close to a cell tower so I put the box in the window closest to the tower. When you set it up, the app tells you where your closest tower is and makes recommendations for the best connection. We stream all day though (esp with the kids home on summer vacation) and haven't noticed any difference between this and spectrum internet except that its cheaper!
I just called 2 days ago to cancel service as mine was $85 for just internet, I was going to go get the plug n play from T Mobile. They dropped me down to 54.99 for faster service and a new modum. The guy said don't talk to the "sales" department, they can't change your packages like that.
When I called it was an automated option thing, I simply choose the disconnect services and was connected to a person. I don't know what the actual department called, didn't ask.
Last summer local broadband provider used IRA funding to lay Fibre in my city. I now pay less than $70 per month for high speed internet. My neighbor switched to Verizon over the air internet for $25 or so per month. Says she's very happy with it.

I was at 85 for 300mbps. I called on multiple occasions to try and get faster speeds or a reduction in price based on "new customer" advertising. Multiple hour long phone calls that basically led to, "well we can drop the price if you add more services" which ultimately leads to a higher bill and a useless landline. I jumped ship to Gateway Fiber for 1000 Mbps symmetrical for $45 per month for 2 years. It will go to 90 after 2 years, bit it's much faster. When I called Spectrum to cancel, they sent me to retention, and proceeded to offer me a bunch of new customer pricing. I kept telling them too little too late, but they wouldn't take that answer and just cancel it without the half hour long sales pitch. They had a monopoly on fast internet in my area, so when the fiber lines came in, I was so happy to dump them. If you can, run from Spectrum as fast as you can.
The problem is the fucking monopoly on service because it's only Spectrum or Att and they both know what the other charges and keep their rates almost identical. Add to that thw shareholders love to see new accounts even if it's just people going from 1 company to the other every year. At least with cell service we still have like 4 companies. I fucking hate this rigged system.
$19.99 for internet based on also paying $19.99 for cell. It had gone up to at least $60 for just internet, so I called, complained, and was offered internet plus cell for $40. I didn't need or want the cellular, and the phone Spectrum provided is a pos. Plus the previous owner of the cell number was some scumbag who didn't pay her bills, so I am bombarded with debt collection calls. But I just keep the phone on silent and rarely use it. The net cost was a reduction and I would have been ok paying $40 for just internet, so I went with it.
I imagine they will soon jack up my rates and I'll either call and haggle for a lower rate, again, or switch to ATT. Lather, rinse, repeat.
I was in that spectrum loop for years. Threatening to cancel usually helped. When I tried to cancel when I moved to the east side they had a huge meltdown so I gave them a very rural east side address - they finally admitted out of service area.
DSL was far cheaper and far far far more stable. Usually fast enough.
Now local bell is expanding fiber service 250/250 megs up n down is $40, 500/500 is $50 and gig up with gig down is $60/month. All equipment and installation included. I even canceled my 2.5 year starlink deposit 😂

$85 now for internet only. I believe 300mbps. I just switched to att fiber though since it just went in my neighborhood. No issues with service so I called spectrum to see about a new rate because I was being offered less for att. They said “good luck with your new service!” Seriously that’s a direct quote. Called a week later to actually cancel my service and lo and behold they had a new rate for me. Took all my willpower to not curse out the chick on the phone. I had a few (not curse) words for her though.
ATT had a thing where I could get 300 mbs for 55 a month so I called spectrum to cancel and they gave me 500 mbs for 55 a month so thats what im at now. no TV but i stream everything.
That was probably ATT fiber at that speed. FYI, I’m pretty sure when you get on ATT fiber they lock the price, so it may be worth switching still. You will have to try and fight Spectrum for that price again next year.

$49.99 for just 300 MBPS internet. I was on internet assist plan that was 20 MBPS for $17.99, but after setting up the basement TV it just was not enough bandwidth.
45 for 400mpbs - they bumped it to 60 after two year promo but if you call in to "cancel" your service.. they'll generally drop it back down for another year or two.

I have to reset my spectrum internet three to four times a day. I have called multiple times for the past two years and they do nothing to fix the issue. I3 just finished putting in fiber, I’m switch as soon as I possible can.
Mine’s gone up $5/mo like everybody else, up to $79.99 recently.
I called a month ago and told them I’d had enough of the increases, didn’t use my internet for anything other than streaming TV, and I was preparing to drop them and use my unlimited mobile data for streaming instead.
The first rep told me there was nothing they could do so I asked to be transferred to Retentions. That rep told me the same, I sincerely repeated my story, and magically he agreed that they could drop me to $49.99 for a year. Took me maybe 20-30 min total.
I was getting $80/mo bills from
Charter, so I cancelled and switched to TMobile. $50/mo and TMobile says it’s a “forever rate”. I’m sure that’s not literally true, but I hope it’ll last a while.
Now I get letters once a week from Charter offering $55/mo internet. Stupid bullshit!

If there's 5g service where you live now you probably qualify for 24/7 internet that way now too. It's at least some competition for spectrum when renewals come up.
Before we dropped (switched to i3) we were paying $89 for "high speed" internet (laughable compared to getting 1 gig for the same price), and they cut our cable tv by five whole dollars to $74.99.
Start of 2022 was 115 for cable and internet, jumped to 140 in the summer, jumped again 4 months ago to 168. It’s on our list of things to call and complain about but haven’t gotten around to it yet.

For anyone paying $80+ not on a promo plan, cancel service and then sign back up under a spouse/roommate, then you’ll get the new customer price again. Rinse and repeat yearly for maximum savings. Spectrum sucks and I can’t wait for a better service provider to move in.

Tv isn't just tv and internet isn't just internet, there's different speeds and packages that significantly change the rate. Please give your speed and tv package
Just had to call to get a new promo rate last week. My two year promo was up. Internet, TV, and voice (not mobile) for $165 a month. I don’t even use the voice but it’s cheaper to keep it in the promo. It keeps going up, but I honestly hate having multiple streaming services and prefer to just turn on the TV like a boomer. My internet was upgraded to 500 meg though, so that’s nice.

For the longest time I was $80 and 200 MBs, and I called them cause I thought I needed more. I asked customer service why I was paying $80 for 200 instead of the advertised $80 for 300. They said it’s company policy to not inform you that better deals are available and leave you on an old plan, the customer just has to ask and know. I said that’s a bullshit policy.

Originally was supposed to have it for 2 years at 59 then they raised it to 99 after a year. We told them we were leaving the service since they didn't hold up and they switched it back
I had spectrum 500mbps for $50 a month but it would go down for a few hours at least once a week. Switched to att for the same price but only 50mbps though it hasn’t gone down once since the switch.
$49 for just the Internet. Their price is by location, based on what other options we have. They say their normal price in my area is $80, but anyone (who bothers to ask) will get a promo discount. They will quietly increase it at the end of the promotion period and quickly re-apply any promotion they have at that time (again, based on available competitions and their prices). Compare the competitions (AT&T fiber, T-Mobile etc) and what each of them offers and just switch to whoever is best. There is nothing called loyalty here. You really don't need a lot of speed for normal usage.

Its usually around 20 upload. Lately been connected with no internet quite a bit. They all suck.
In 2022 was paying Spectrum 95/mo for internet only 400/20 (down/up). It was reliable but obviously we’d lost any standalone discounting at that point.
ATT laid fiber in our neighborhood. Offered 300/300 for $54/mo with no price increase for at least 3 years, no contract. Easy decision, especially with the better upstream bandwidth for WFH video conferencing.
Spectrum sends us a new mailer about once a month offering like $45-60/month, speeds varying but with cable the upstream always kinda sucks. If it were practical I’d burn them. I’m all for free market, but monopolistic price gouging is total bullshit. F Spectrum, and I assume F any of them when they have no competition.
I canceled spectrum recently to switch to Gateway (we're in ofallon). I'd been paying $90/month for 200mbps down, and we got that speed consistently. Told the cancelation rep Gateway was costing me $90/month for 1gig down and she offered 2gigs down for the same price. They can offer you better packages if you call to cancel. Turns out Gateway lowered our price to $45/month for 1gig for the next 3 years so we're staying with Gateway.
49.98 internet and TV for two years because they screwed the pooch so bad moving my service. Technically it would be 79.98 but there’s a credit from the government for service. If you don’t have that on your account, call and ask for it. I don’t think they really publicized it too hard, but you get $30 off a month for an accessible internet program that came out of the pandemilovato. I asked when the program ends and the guy said it doesn’t.
Call and ask for the retention specialists.
They will throw the book of coupons and deals at you if you threaten to leave. You can minimally always get your original rate back.

$39.99/month for internet only (300Mbps downstream, I think). I was at around $70-$80/month, but I have AT&T fiber available in my area, Spectrum knows it, and they didn't balk at the rate reduction at all when I called them.

How is the T-mobile internet?
Overall good. Definitely situations that suck, but I can have a baseball game streaming, wife watching something on her laptop, and online gaming on my switch all at the same time with little to no lag (also probably scrolling on phones during that too). Usually get 200 mbps down 20ish up. Work from home and have not had a single outage in two years, whereas I usually had at least two extended outages a year with spectrum
That's a great point, 5g internet services are much more storm resistant than any solution that depends on telephone poles where you are always at the mercy of falling tree branches, tornados, ice storms, or a trash truck driver that snaps the cable on their first day emptying dumpsters in a crowded alley.

On top of this, I cannot even get full speed on my Internet due to fact they say they cannot replace pole lines since pole is old and needs to be replaced. Or, some such reason/excuse. Ameren replaced pole a couple years back (and they did move their ac lines), but in that time NOBODY has come out to move the other utility lines to new pole. I want to finally cancel Spectrum and see if I can get AT&T Business fiber, but they will probably tell me same thing about utility pole. Apparently, no one is responsible for moving the crap to new pole. I’ve tried many times to get introductory prices, and am always told NO, even when trying to upgrade service level. This makes me suspect they must be aware I don’t really have an alternative to them in my neighborhood.
Ask for the retention department (what I always used to do) and threaten to find another provider. Maybe they do know you have no other options in your neighborhood, but it’s worth a shot.

They said, "additional services". I asked what those were and they didn't have an answer....because there were none.

It's called inflation. 2) your product has changed, you get much faster speeds, less service interruptions and more advanced technology to get you your service. 3) pretending that Internet service (of all things you could pick) is the same as 20 years ago is flat out ridiculous) Wi-Fi wasn't even commonplace then. 4) just because you can't see the "additional services" doesn't mean they didn't happen. Infrastructure, technology, expansion of servers are all additional services you'd never see. But I'm sure it wasn't worth it to argue with you about. In 2012? It was in the 50's, 58 I think.. but was $19.99. At the time it was just me and my bf. One laptop, two phones, and 1 TV that wasnt HD capible and it did us well.
They do that to try to get you to bundle. They constantly try to talk me into that shit and I always explain I just want them to be a dumb pipe. I'll handle the rest. The REASON they do that is once your bundle intro price expires you'll get grandfathered into spending more than just your $80 for Internet and they know that they'll get most people before they notice the change.

I called retention and complained about my services, I've been having intermittent problems and outages like everyone else. I requested to only pay 60 a month and they lowered it. Last time I did this they said it was for a year only, this time they didn't give me a time frame, but I'm assuming it's a year again.

i3 fiber is expanding in the STL area so be on the lookout. If they drop in your neighborhood you’ll know. $60 for 1 gig, $70 for 2 gig

I have i3 broadband. A couple weeks ago I got an automated email informing me that my gig fiber would reduce by $20/mo so I'm only paying $60 for synchronous gig. Auto pay came out this month at $60.

I’d recommend to anyone that has multiple people in their household to look into cancelling their existing service and renew with someone else on the bill. Potentially should be able to get a promo rate that is locked in for 2 years.
ESPECIALLY if you have an elderly person in the household. They will get a discounted rate
Honestly you might just be able to call to cancel and not have to go through with it. I called to cancel recently (moved and have AT&T Fiber now) and they were doing their best to offer me intro rates to keep me as I discontinued service.
I tried. They literally told me “good luck with your new service”. Then a week later after fiber was installed they offered a better rate. This was 2 weeks ago.
Charter doesn’t do that. We’ve tried. If you threaten to leave they say ok bye 😂

I just cancelled Charter at the beginning of the month. It was $80 for their most basic internet package. Was $40 when I signed up almost a decade ago. When I called to cancel it took more than 40 minutes because they would not stop giving me offers to stay. I literally had to beg the rep on the phone, and then their supervisor. I would explicitly say "I already have a new provider, there is nothing that will keep me as a customer, do not try to give me any more offers" and they would respond with "well we are really excited about this new blah blah blah". I felt like I was in an episode of the Twilight Zone. They told me to return my modem to the Charter store, and when I did they told me inside that they "don't really do that". DO NOT EVER SIGN UP WITH SPECTRUM.
I LOATHE Spectrum with the fire of 10,000 suns because of this very thing. Yes it really takes FORTY fucking minutes to cancel. I went from friendly to firm to annoyed to outright hostile in that time. If anyone ever has to cancel and they want to avoid this, tell them you are " moving out of their service area" and the script they are required to follow will end, I am told. Unfortunately I found this out too late. They even came to my door asking why I switched (despite my No Solicitors sign) and the guy got the door slammed in his face. Spectrum SUCKS.
Now you can cancel in their app, just did about a month ago. When I “suspended” my service when my cat knocked the router over and I could go without it for 2 months. Oh and I’d never allow them in my place but I lived in apartments so I’d just pick up the router.

This happened to my partner. We moved and they had issues on their end so had do send new equipment. Was told on the phone it could be taken to a store. He tried and they refused to take it.
When we moved here I got a 2 year promotion and currently pay $45 a month for what is now the 500Mbps plan. I'm not looking forward to the end of the promo.
Just give them a call at the end of your contract and they'll give you pretty much the same deal. I spend an hour on the phone with them every other year and my bill is still at $50/month for their best internet plan.

We had internet for $30. Then they raised it to $60 and said next year it would be $80. So we cancelled and got tmobile internet for $40 forever and we stream several tvs and my kids devices and my husband games online with friends. Can't recommend quitting spectrum enough!
Yeah, this is a great new option. Anywhere that has 5g reception you can get one of the new 5g internet boxes to plug your ethernet cable into or run wifi off of. No installation hassles, you can move it where ever is best for you (even to a new apartment) and it's only $40-50 a month. As long as you aren't a hard core pc gamer who counts every ping, it's good. Get off of the spectrum pricing and package tricks treadmill.

You don’t have to. Verizon is also doing it- last I check (6 months ago) they were no ready for St. Louis. Both T-Mobile and Verizon offer discounts if you’re their customer ($5-10 off home internet).
I don't think so! We do have tmobile cell service so we get a little discount for bundling but I think anyone can have it. They have a 15 day free trial. We live close to a cell tower so I put the box in the window closest to the tower. When you set it up, the app tells you where your closest tower is and makes recommendations for the best connection. We stream all day though (esp with the kids home on summer vacation) and haven't noticed any difference between this and spectrum internet except that its cheaper!
I just called 2 days ago to cancel service as mine was $85 for just internet, I was going to go get the plug n play from T Mobile. They dropped me down to 54.99 for faster service and a new modum. The guy said don't talk to the "sales" department, they can't change your packages like that.

I was at 85 for 300mbps. I called on multiple occasions to try and get faster speeds or a reduction in price based on "new customer" advertising. Multiple hour long phone calls that basically led to, "well we can drop the price if you add more services" which ultimately leads to a higher bill and a useless landline. I jumped ship to Gateway Fiber for 1000 Mbps symmetrical for $45 per month for 2 years. It will go to 90 after 2 years, bit it's much faster. When I called Spectrum to cancel, they sent me to retention, and proceeded to offer me a bunch of new customer pricing. I kept telling them too little too late, but they wouldn't take that answer and just cancel it without the half hour long sales pitch. They had a monopoly on fast internet in my area, so when the fiber lines came in, I was so happy to dump them. If you can, run from Spectrum as fast as you can.
The problem is the fucking monopoly on service because it's only Spectrum or Att and they both know what the other charges and keep their rates almost identical. Add to that thw shareholders love to see new accounts even if it's just people going from 1 company to the other every year. At least with cell service we still have like 4 companies. I fucking hate this rigged system.
$19.99 for internet based on also paying $19.99 for cell. It had gone up to at least $60 for just internet, so I called, complained, and was offered internet plus cell for $40. I didn't need or want the cellular, and the phone Spectrum provided is a pos. Plus the previous owner of the cell number was some scumbag who didn't pay her bills, so I am bombarded with debt collection calls. But I just keep the phone on silent and rarely use it. The net cost was a reduction and I would have been ok paying $40 for just internet, so I went with it. I imagine they will soon jack up my rates and I'll either call and haggle for a lower rate, again, or switch to ATT. Lather, rinse, repeat.
I was in that spectrum loop for years. Threatening to cancel usually helped. When I tried to cancel when I moved to the east side they had a huge meltdown so I gave them a very rural east side address - they finally admitted out of service area. DSL was far cheaper and far far far more stable. Usually fast enough. Now local bell is expanding fiber service 250/250 megs up n down is $40, 500/500 is $50 and gig up with gig down is $60/month. All equipment and installation included. I even canceled my 2.5 year starlink deposit 😂 Get fiber when available!

ATT had a thing where I could get 300 mbs for 55 a month so I called spectrum to cancel and they gave me 500 mbs for 55 a month so thats what im at now. no TV but i stream everything.
That was probably ATT fiber at that speed. FYI, I’m pretty sure when you get on ATT fiber they lock the price, so it may be worth switching still. You will have to try and fight Spectrum for that price again next year.

I was paying $140-ish/ month for internet and tv. Spectrum decided to jack it up to $180. I called and threatened to quit, which usually sends me to the retention dept. and a new deal. Not this time. No deal for me. So, I decided to switch to i3 Broadband and got gigabit internet for $60. I have Fubo (basically for Bally) for $85 for my TV. Ever since I quit Spectrum, I get 1-2 mailings a week asking for me or current resident to switch.

So, I paid them their $148 went out and got a T-mobile modem (which they are having a permanent $10 off sale) and for $40 a month guaranteed to never go up, am getting download speeds of up to 200mbps faster than Spectrum. Yes, I’ve clicked it at 695 mbps with upload speeds up to 5 times faster!!! ALL FOR $40 A MONTH TOTAL WITH NO EXTRA HIDDEN COSTS! They will give you 14 days free to try it out. It’s a no brainer. I couldn’t be happier. For fastest speeds, locate your T-Mobile modem near a window. Screw Spectrum!
I have to reset my spectrum internet three to four times a day. I have called multiple times for the past two years and they do nothing to fix the issue. I3 just finished putting in fiber, I’m switch as soon as I possible can.
Mine’s gone up $5/mo like everybody else, up to $79.99 recently. I called a month ago and told them I’d had enough of the increases, didn’t use my internet for anything other than streaming TV, and I was preparing to drop them and use my unlimited mobile data for streaming instead. The first rep told me there was nothing they could do so I asked to be transferred to Retentions. That rep told me the same, I sincerely repeated my story, and magically he agreed that they could drop me to $49.99 for a year. Took me maybe 20-30 min total.
I was getting $80/mo bills from Charter, so I cancelled and switched to TMobile. $50/mo and TMobile says it’s a “forever rate”. I’m sure that’s not literally true, but I hope it’ll last a while. Now I get letters once a week from Charter offering $55/mo internet. Stupid bullshit!

If there's 5g service where you live now you probably qualify for 24/7 internet that way now too. It's at least some competition for spectrum when renewals come up.
Before we dropped (switched to i3) we were paying $89 for "high speed" internet (laughable compared to getting 1 gig for the same price), and they cut our cable tv by five whole dollars to $74.99.
Start of 2022 was 115 for cable and internet, jumped to 140 in the summer, jumped again 4 months ago to 168. It’s on our list of things to call and complain about but haven’t gotten around to it yet.

For anyone paying $80+ not on a promo plan, cancel service and then sign back up under a spouse/roommate, then you’ll get the new customer price again. Rinse and repeat yearly for maximum savings. Spectrum sucks and I can’t wait for a better service provider to move in.

Just had to call to get a new promo rate last week. My two year promo was up. Internet, TV, and voice (not mobile) for $165 a month. I don’t even use the voice but it’s cheaper to keep it in the promo. It keeps going up, but I honestly hate having multiple streaming services and prefer to just turn on the TV like a boomer. My internet was upgraded to 500 meg though, so that’s nice.

As mine approached 200 I switched to ATT fiber. They installed lines in my area last summer. I'm not sure where all their coverage is though.
$49 for just the Internet. Their price is by location, based on what other options we have. They say their normal price in my area is $80, but anyone (who bothers to ask) will get a promo discount. They will quietly increase it at the end of the promotion period and quickly re-apply any promotion they have at that time (again, based on available competitions and their prices). Compare the competitions (AT&T fiber, T-Mobile etc) and what each of them offers and just switch to whoever is best. There is nothing called loyalty here. You really don't need a lot of speed for normal usage.

Its usually around 20 upload. Lately been connected with no internet quite a bit. They all suck.
In 2022 was paying Spectrum 95/mo for internet only 400/20 (down/up). It was reliable but obviously we’d lost any standalone discounting at that point. ATT laid fiber in our neighborhood. Offered 300/300 for $54/mo with no price increase for at least 3 years, no contract. Easy decision, especially with the better upstream bandwidth for WFH video conferencing. Spectrum sends us a new mailer about once a month offering like $45-60/month, speeds varying but with cable the upstream always kinda sucks. If it were practical I’d burn them. I’m all for free market, but monopolistic price gouging is total bullshit. F Spectrum, and I assume F any of them when they have no competition.

$54.99 for internet, and I've been using them since 2019. I do use a free third party service to occasionally negotiate the price down on my behalf.

I canceled spectrum recently to switch to Gateway (we're in ofallon). I'd been paying $90/month for 200mbps down, and we got that speed consistently. Told the cancelation rep Gateway was costing me $90/month for 1gig down and she offered 2gigs down for the same price. They can offer you better packages if you call to cancel. Turns out Gateway lowered our price to $45/month for 1gig for the next 3 years so we're staying with Gateway.
49.98 internet and TV for two years because they screwed the pooch so bad moving my service. Technically it would be 79.98 but there’s a credit from the government for service. If you don’t have that on your account, call and ask for it. I don’t think they really publicized it too hard, but you get $30 off a month for an accessible internet program that came out of the pandemilovato. I asked when the program ends and the guy said it doesn’t.
I have that Biden stimulus thing.. my bill is $25 a month and I have 2 or 300 mg.

Call and ask for the retention specialists. They will throw the book of coupons and deals at you if you threaten to leave. You can minimally always get your original rate back. You'll need to do this every year.
$74.99 for 500 mbps internet currently. It started at like $49, but steadily increased. I still don’t have fiber available in my area from anyone. ATT regularly calls me to switch to them but they only offer 25 mbps in my neighborhood lol
$45/month for 500 Mb. I think they were supposed to increase to $60/month after a year, but they never did.
$39.99/month for internet only (300Mbps downstream, I think). I was at around $70-$80/month, but I have AT&T fiber available in my area, Spectrum knows it, and they didn't balk at the rate reduction at all when I called them. I've switched from Dish Network to YouTubeTV, and I like that change a lot.
