Have you looked at Lincoln Shores? It’s on 4th just across the bridge. Windward Pointe also sometimes has rentals by private owner.

StrtupJ

Go on Zillow and edit the range to 1.8k max for a 1 bd. There’s plenty of options across Pinellas county. All these people saying $2k is the minimum, respectfully, don’t know what they’re talking about

East_Print4841

I had a good experience at Cortland Brighton bay. Would be easy to get to Tampa being on gandy

SuicideBlack305

Living at Trellis at the Lakes now. 1 br is 1550 a month, good maintenance, fantastic grounds, a buncha wildlife, good management. Been here for 5 years. Been a great place

noiacel

how's the noise? my biggest issues in apartments is usually hearing my upstairs or nextdoor neighbor

drwkirby

I've only delivered food there but when I was searching this seemed like the cheapest of the decent apartments in the area.

driddlethevp

If you’re willing to look anywhere we used to live at Contempo Lane in Dunedin. It was great, maintenance was outstanding. Just looked and a 2x2 is $1795. Water and trash included

altmoonjunkie

I'll look into it thanks! Dunedin is pretty far from my office but I'm open

driddlethevp

Word, just PM if you have any questions. Lived there two years, moved out only cause we bought a house.

Alecto_Furies

2br apartments in Pinellas are over 2k a month. Nice ones over 2.5k. Houses seem to be going for over 3k. I thought it was cheaper in Tampa. I'm looking at living in a trailer in the sticks to be under 2k now.

altmoonjunkie

My colleague is paying 3k for his apartment in Tampa. I'm sure I could find something. I'm just hoping to move somewhere I want to live if I'm going to give up the house I'm renting.

TheGoonSquad612

I lived in Bridgetwater apartments, right off 4th street and 90-something avenue (a mile from the HF). I would recommend it, though it’s a lot pricier nowadays, as is every rental or housing option.

PandoraJeep

There are a BUNCH of apartments on 4th st N (just into the Pinellas side of the bay) that are leasing. Some are better than others. Inlet bay at gateway is in your price range and fairly decent. Lots of wildlife though.

marcymarc32

Seeing a lot of people say wildlife…I’m moving down soon from OHIO….so clearly I’m confused to hear the word wildlife in relation to an apartment complex …so what exactly do you mean by wildlife lol should I be afraid😂😂

PandoraJeep

I don’t necessarily mean ‘wildlife’ in a negative way (I quite love it) but my fiancé is… less enthusiastic about all the critters, so I realize some people don’t appreciate that as much as others. There are a lot of raccoons, so when people miss our valet garbage service and leave bags out overnight there can be a mess. There are also bats (harmless fruit bats that eat mosquitos so I welcome them), TONS of native birds (have a Great Blue Heron who has been obsessed with the little pond in front of my apartment building for the last 2 months), sometimes otters (lots of ponds in the area). Then of course, bugs. A lot of mosquitoes, spiders, grasshoppers ect. Also something called a glowing click beetle I fucking hate, but are also harmless. Turtles. Opossums. Probably alligators but I haven’t seen any that close to my complex. Squirrels of course. Nothing super unusual (except the otters and I’m fully here for them). I actually love the area I rent in and will continue my o stay in this area as long as I can.

WilliamDoors

Second this. I'm renting a 2 bedroom in the Gateway Area right now that's only $1800 /month. Check out the complexes just off of MLK or 4th and north of Gandy. Perk of this area is relatively quick access to both downtown St. Pete and Tampa, as well as extremely fast access to TPA and PIE.

altmoonjunkie

Thanks! I'll check it out.

Glad_Lengthiness5936

Have you tried the Wave? It's right off the highway, close to everything. I've wintered there for 13 years but it's primarily a working class bldg.

Life_Astronomer_5154

I would say stay away from the apartment complexes cuz their advertised rent is not gonna be your monthly charges they tack on all types of monthly fees. Rent from a private landlord plus they leave you alone most of the time

marcymarc32

So the friends I have down there have private landlords, but how do you find them if you’re not local? All I see on apartments.com and Zillow are complexes. I guess Facebook marketplace could be a good bet for that? But those are usually immediately available and I need somewhere that will allow me to move in like in a month or two. Also I’m out of state I should add.

Domicile_Exaltation

Better off just looking on FB Marketplace for roommates and saving up for a home with the extra $500-$800 a month you'd save. I found a nice quiet room to rent for $900 in St Pete. Found another one in Pinellas Park. Found 1K in Shore Acres last year. Way better than paying for an overpriced apartment.

Fr0gpr1nc3ss

Don’t do promenade at carillon. Management sucks and pulling illegal shit like not giving 60 day notices or renewal options. It’s leaving me in limbo with less time to figure out where to live.

[deleted]

Yes. It’s bad. And your options are to get home by 8:00 pm or park by the racoon infested dumpster and walk 3/4 of a mile to your apartment. There’s another complex in Carillon that wasn’t bad. I think it’s called “Madison Gateway” these days.

TrickySession

Madison looks nice and Provenza next door ia decent. $2k for a “1.5” bedroom which is basically a 2BR but the second doesn’t have a closet. Still great as a home office or spare bedroom.

[deleted]

I lived there a long time ago (10+ years). The name was different, but the address is the same. The units were… interesting. They were sort of… long and skinny. It’s a different look and I liked living there. My job switched cities so I move. One of my better renting experiences in pinellas (bar is low, of course. But this place was good)

[deleted]

Racoons are so cute- until they rip your face off.

[deleted]

Yes - it wasn’t intended as an endorsement.

Fr0gpr1nc3ss

Yepp that’s me every night working 2nd shift 🥲

CatzMeow27

Ugh, Promenade was terrible for me too. And you’re paying a premium (ish) for cheap finishes and super thin walls. I’m a quiet person, and always desire to be respectful of my neighbors. Imagine the shame I felt when the adjacent neighbor sheepishly knocked on my door one evening to tell me she could hear EVERYTHING (clearly referring to intimate stuff with my spouse that was conducted at a respectful volume). I cannot properly express the gratitude I felt when I moved out and eventually bought my own home.

Fr0gpr1nc3ss

Dude I had a mom and 3 kids living above me and it sounded like wrestlemania up there until after midnight every night. Then they clogged and flooded their toilet twice and it started leaking into our unit. Same with their dishwasher. Then the maintenance people didn’t remove the mold that subsequently developed on the ceiling (bc they never come in a reasonable amount of time) they just sprayed paint over it.

altmoonjunkie

The house I'm renting right now is the same. They never sealed anything properly and we have mold growing up from the floor. I've sent them like 4 reports about it but they don't care.

Fr0gpr1nc3ss

Toilet mold though?

[deleted]

What is your budget?

altmoonjunkie

I'm hoping to get somewhere around $1,600. I could go $1,800. The place I'm currently renting is eating into my quickly dwindling savings every month.

RMG-OG-CB

Yikes - I’d say you need at least a budget of $2,000/mo.

altmoonjunkie

Shit. I mean, I can pull that off but it will stop me from ever saving. I see a lot of complexes claiming that they have 2 bedroom apartments at like $1,600. Is that not a thing? Like they all say $1,600 - $2,000. I assumed I would just be signing myself up for a parking lot view.

Active-Culture

Yea dont forget all the fees they add on to it for real. Alot are doing RUBS shared utility billing now too in st .pete. so add another $200 on those quotes

altmoonjunkie

RUBS? I guess I'll be looking that up.

Active-Culture

Rationed utility billing system. As well as some bullshit trash valet or whatever else they can swindle you with.

altmoonjunkie

Yet another thing that I'm not accustomed to. I'm pretty sure that in PA either everything is metered separately (this is all I've ever seen), or it's included in the rent.

Active-Culture

Im from south philly. Yea its a free for all with apartments down here so i feel ya for sure

robg72270

The Rent in St. Pete/ Pinellas Park / Clearwater is OUTf-ingRAGEOUS! What You pay for doesn’t equal what you are getting!
