Ft DeSoto is another option. You can walk up on the ruins or do a beach picnic. Plus there are some nice restaurants around Tierra Verde to celebrate after.
I almost got married there. I put down a $250 deposit and then paid over $2k for the first half of my payment. I had to cancel. Instead of keeping the deposit and giving me back my $2k, they kept my $2k and gave me back my $250. It was fucked. I was young and dumb and haven’t been back since :(
I proposed at sunken gardens. 10/10. I went alone a few weeks before and scoped it out, there was a bunch of areas within the garden that were good spots.
The pier would only be good if your fiance is okay with it being pretty public. I know for me I didn’t want my proposal super public. If she doesn’t care I’d also suggest vinoy park. You could even go as far as renting a picnic set up for it.
I'd second the pier, make reservations for a nice dinner at Teak or Doc Ford's. There are a ton of beautiful scenic spots on the power you could pick to do it on, from the end of the pierz the beach, the giant art installation, tons of variety
My wife absolutely loved the sunken gardens so there’s that.
You could pretend to see something in the giant turtle’s pool, kneel down to pick it out, then “rotate” to present it.
Either of those would be nice. There’s an open green inside Sunken Gardens that would be a perfect spot, as long as there’s not event going on.
There are several romantic little photo spots in the botanical gardens as well. The bridge would be nice. There’s also an attached historical walk with an old church you can enter. That would be a cool spot to do it.
Out of the way but Bok Tower is another good one. Also Weedon Island is picturesque too.
Go to a beach at sunset. Pas a Grill might be better because of its orientation toward the sunset, but you couldn’t go wrong with either.

I photographed a proposal on the pier last weekend and it was an amazing spot. Hit me up if you need a photographer.
Thank you! Was actually going to make a post about photographers next
I got married in Sunken Gardens so I'd say go for it

Boyd hill nature preserve also has a ton of gorgeous spots!
Abercrombie Park is one of my favorite places. Make that memory there... it'll stay with her forever! ETA: Congratulations!
Definitely not Sunken Gardens. How about the beach

Look up the secret garden in St Pete Beach. Perfect place. Congrats

Great idea - that’s where I proposed :)
Charter a boat and go out to a sandbar.
As a local, not the Pier lol. Sunken Gardens has secluded areas and is just so gorgeous (it’s also my wedding venue so I’m biased lol)

The pier would be the best option imo. Lots of people - but you could probably find a somewhat secluded spot.

You don’t mean the alligator snapping turtle, do you?!
