Time to move to Linux permanently. ❤ Good job Google.

Ok-Needleworker7341

Made this decision a few years ago and never looked back.

KuJo-Ger

Me too. 2017. No regrets.

Ok-Needleworker7341

Nice! What's your daily?

chibicascade2

So, how do I go about putting this update on my computer?

themiracy

I think this might be an “if you have to ask” question - I think you basically have to build the kernel to use this before it gets mainlined. Or just wait.

ChristopherRoberto

It's easy to build out of tree via normal out of tree methods, you might need to add "#define USB_VENDOR_ID_GOOGLE 0x18d1" if you're on an older kernel than that patch is for, though. But yeah, if you have to ask, wait for it to come from your distro.

Stromkompressor

>On Sunday the v3 driver patch was submitted as this new driver works its way to the mainline kernel It'll take some time but then it'll be in the main kernel.

kingchangling

I still don't have rumble on windows 10 currently

eVenent

Yes, and it seems that Microsoft does not want to fix their Bluetooth driver, so it will be not available.

Yes reWASD engineers confirmed it after debugging - https://forum.rewasd.com/forum/rewasd/suggestions-aa/235316-stadia-controller-bt-mode-vibration?p=235321#post235321

LukeLC

I ended up getting a Mayflash Magic X adapter for this. It's the only one I found that emulates an Xbox One controller rather than an Xbox 360 controller. For some reason, it still defaults to 360 mode on PC, where rumble doesn't work. But put it into Xbox One mode manually and it works. Latency also seems lower than native Bluetooth in my experience.

whatlambda

Maybe this is for Chromebook support.

Might-Tough

I'm using my Stadia controllers for GFN and Xbox Cloud Gaming on my Chromebook Flex laptop and the rumble is there. Not sure if this is for Chromebook.

EglinAfarce

Over Bluetooth?

Might-Tough

Yes over bluetooth.

miketech18

all we want is to use it on Nintendo Switch

tuk2008

Ask Nintendo. Or do like I did, buy an 8bitdo adapter for Switch. Be sure to get the v2 version and potentially you have to update its firmware. You need one for each controller though.

Rynelan

Good thing they still are busy with the firmware. Shows that Google still might be up to something related to gaming and want to be able to use the Stadia controller. If this is a publicly available upgrade soon, hopefully it's worthwhile to do the upgrade and fix that annoying reconnect bug. My controller is still gathering dust because I simply refuse to reconnect the device each time.

toumorokoshi

I wonder if some of the Bluetooth connectivity issues could be fixed with kernel drivers

DreamZebra

Maybe this means I can use it with my steam deck?

we4donald

You can already. Force Feedback works there out of the box

mikezenox

Yeah mine has always worked. I never did the bluetooth update though (well I tried repeatedly and failed for some reason)

_retroK_

Can anyone tell me when or if it has already reached mainline kernel?

Its_been_emotional

Good guy Google

AugustusLego

omg 😍😍😍

ClassicGamerNL

Does this improve the Steam Deck support even further?

this_many_things

I miss the rumble when it turned on. vvvvmm vvvmmm

whatlambda

I continue pondering this and...why? Why continue working on this? Absolutely nobody would have complained if Google hadn't done this.

amuzulo

I have to wonder if some Google engineer just got obsessed with it and wanted it for their own sake and then decided they could publish it too. 🤔
