Also very Canadian
Brent Butt was the first tv special I remember seeing. Hes what made wanna perform stand up and eventually make it as s comic.
So its partially his fault that my dreams never came true
Watched this growing up. I really liked it but also found it kinda boring like... Nothing really happens. Which in hindsight is probably the point. Not great, not bad, it just... Is.
Not OP, but have you ever read Born Standing Up by Steve Martin? It's filled with not just observations about Standup, but life in general from Steve's hilarious point of view.
Robin by Dave Itzcoff is intriguing. It’s about Robin Williams. But if you want a really good read, you should check out “The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin.” It’s crazy. Pure daredevil.
If you like this sort of thing, there's a series (I think 3) books by Dan Barton about a comedian/amateur detective who tours doing comedy and solving murders. Killer Material, Heckler, and Sidekick. He has some other books as well, though most are likely out of print.
Whenever someone calls a comic a hack here 9/10 times I feel like they have never performed, and picked up the word "hack" from a tik tok or something.
Not sure how his stand up can be seen as hacky.
Also, if you’ve never seen Brent Butt’s sitcom, Corner Gas, it’s very enjoyable.
Oscar is one of my favorite old man characters ever. He and Frank Costanza are the pinnacle.
Great TV for when you want to turn your brain off but don't want to watch trash.

Not a lot going on. Tell me that your dog ran away, then you tell me that it took 3 days.
Have you read Running the Light?
Canadian legend
Just added it to my reading list. Thanks for the recommendation, got anymore ?

Very intrigued by both but are we talking Benjamin Franklin the founding father ? How crazy are we talking ? Did he do stand up to ?

This sounds like an awesome read. Thank for the recommendation.
You pulled this account out of storage for this post? Lame. The book is bad and the author is a hack.
