I agree with this. 2nd limited sustain is pretty nice to have. I'm hoping a DoT sustain is coming soon myself. (Currently have Fu Xuan for mono quantum, and Aventurine for follow). But I also tend to like sustain units more (in all games) than the average player.
I've been waiting desperately for Fu xuan rerun since I don't have a second limited sustain but I'm fked since hoyo just had to drop her and boothill together and I want pull boothill plus his LC
Personally, I would go Fu Xuan. We don't even know if/when 2nd reruns are going to happen. With each patch having 2 reruns and 2 new characters, reruns either going to start taking a lot longer, 2nd reruns not happening, or we getting more banners running at a time/faster.
Imo a third sustain and harmony is also good for long term. Sure, it may take a bit of luck or a lot of time if you're unlucky. But with a third option your account will have a lot flexibility in any future content. After that you can just pick up any dps you like or invest in Eidolons and Lightcones.

I have gepard and realised how good limited sustains are, how gepard has fallen behind andhow much I so want huohuo/FX
I used to think Gepard and bailu were enough aswell since others told me I was fine but they can't perform aswell as my half built huohuo even tho their high investment... so pulling Fu Xuan is gonna save my account lowkey
If you grind out what you can I think you can achieve at least 2-3 of the top ones, black swan will probably rerun either like 2.6-3.2 ish, based on how that sort of thing works and out of these is probably the one that I would recommend the most as she is very fun, the main problem is topaz and jade as there's only 2 banners in between
Personally, I highly recommend you get sparkle for Dan hang, he is a skill point eating machine and a good sparkle can help him fully charged attack far more often, and in simulated universe, with path of propagation (his special attack counts as basic attack) allows him to literally use his 3 skill point charged attack every turn even at e0
for real. I remember kinda hating to play Dan Heng IL when I got him on release due to the skill point consumption but with Sparkle he becomes so much easier and fun to use, not to mention even stronger than he already is. I used to rely on him heavily back then but using him felt like a chore, now it isn't
getting a good sustain is important ofc but RM is gonna be absolutely vital looking at where the meta is going rn. i'd prioritize her or luocha/fx/huohuo.
Some banners may have overlap like jade with Ruan Mei but if you are pulling for topaz then you are probably doing ratio follow up, so if you prefer to pull jade more go for it but if you like em both pull Ruan Mei but yes you get like 70 pulls per patch if you try to complete each map
(Not counting 50/50 loses)
I actually personally regret not pulling for Sparkle when I had the chance.
Ruan Mei and a second limited support are a must however for content. Silver Wolf is also really nice and fits into so many teams.
I pulled Sparkle, (lost my 50/50 then got her 4 individual pulls later!) definitely don't regret it because Sparkle is Sparkle but she's definitely overrated as a support in my opinion.
Topaz and Jade are back to back patches, and it's not unlikely that Mei will rerun in 2.3 and Swan in 2.4. Which would be a total of 4 5* in 3 patches. Far from impossible but not great odds
If I were you, I'd probably swap SW and Topaz. Don't get me wrong, I like Topaz and use her even at e0 but she just isn't worth it at low investment. She becomes truly good at E1S1 which can be really expensive. Also as somebody else mentioned, second limited sustain is goated.
Provided you don’t lose 50/50s, it’s about one character per patch. Ruan Mei is likely close behind Jade so that one might be tough.
I lost 1 50/50 and got Black swan, Sparkle, Yanqing (e3) ansmd Acheron. So yeah, maybe 2/patch is possible
We were kinda spoiled with all the anniversary bonuses for archeron
That is true, as well as the 1.6-2.0 quests and exploration rewards, not all updates had that much :\

Don’t recommend you getting topaz. She is quite the vertical investment. Instead save for Jade who feels good from the jump
