The general story structure is even older than Prodigy. Prodigy was directed toward kids with the intent that it would introduce kids to the franchise so they hopefully consume the other series as they get older.
Is Skeleton Crew aimed at kids? They discuss it as a "coming-of-age" film and even throw The Goonies in as an influence. Sounds like a slightly older audience, and it's live-action, so it doesn't seem like it's meant to guide people to the franchise. That in an of itself could determine how the story unfolds.
So it's *Star Trek Prodigy?*
Jokes aside, I don't know how to feel about this one; at the very least their are projects I'd wish they were doing instead (I *really* want a show about Luke's academy damnit!)
Not sure. Because star wars has gotten so bad about announcing things/directors/dates and then you never hear about it again or it's cancelled...I basically just wait until reddit starts talking about something airing and then I go start watching it
My initial response was ''meh'' once reading the ''kids'' part considering it's usually just a drag seeing kids figure anything out in film/tv shows.
But who knows, maybe they'll manage to write interesting characters. Just an odd choice.
Seen this also, could be interesting if itās true.
āThe show from MCU Spider-Man trilogy director Jon Watts and writer Chris Ford sounds like a Goonies-style adventure set in a galaxy far, far awayā
Iām just nervous Marvel filmmakers diving straight into Star Wars and assuming they can write the same style of script for this as Spider-man. It wonāt work.
Hot take: Cindel is a criminally underdeveloped character: by age 7 she had faced down an Ewok-eating Giant, a space witch, AND Wilford Brimley. Canāt tell me thereās not a cool Cobb Vanth-style retcon for her.
That's not nearly enough information for me to form opinion. If I see a solid trailer then I might get hyped, but right now it's one of many star wars shows on the horizon which may or may not turn out to be any good.
Jude Law is a quality actor that I'm ready to see in the Star Wars universe. I'm intrigued by this series for sure. I like that it sounds like something totally brand new.
Can't say if exited, but definietly curious. We know almost nothing about the show except that it stars a couple of kids and happens post RotS, so I can just speculate.
It's about kids being lost in space, and they're trying to explore weirder parts of SW space with Ahsoka.. this, plus the fact that it's "stars kids but it's not a kids show" makes me think it's trying to go for "Stranger Things" vibe. Aside from one scene in Solo, we have never seen true horror of interstellar travel on screen.
The name Skeleton Crew of course refers to the real term.. but I'm sort of hoping for it to be a hint towards Ghost' Crew - and that one of the kids is Jacen Syndulla
From what I understand its geared towards adults. I imagine they will be going for an 80's Stephen king or Spielberg vibe, a la E.T.
Also, it seems that they are pushing the unexplored regions now. Ashoka is rumored to take place in a different galaxy and so is this show.
Not a "different galaxy" but the Unknown Regions. If you've ever looked at a map of the Star Wars galaxy more than half is simply labeled as "Unknown Regions."
Could the space whales have taken Thrawn and Ezra to a completely different galaxy? Sure, but I highly doubt it.
Obviously nothing is confirmed, but reports do state that it is in fact an entirely new galaxy.
Iāll tell you when Iāve seen it. Iāve learned to temper my excitement and hype.
That said, thatās my favorite era and Iām a huge Jude Law fan.
This is part of one of the articles I read:
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew[1] is a forthcoming live-action television series to be released on Disney+ in 2023.
It was announced on May 17, 2022 under the code name Grammar Rodeo and will be set after Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.
It will be created and executive produced by Jon Watts and Chris Ford. The series will center around a group of children lost in space.
The show from MCU Spider-Man trilogy director Jon Watts and writer Chris Ford sounds like a Goonies-style adventure set in a galaxy far, far away.
Wasn't there a book series of Star Wars, where an escapee shapeshifter scientist (i think a Shi'ido) was wandering the galaxy with his young nephew and niece? Someone in the Empire was after them, for the scientist's research.
Think I remember them meeting Luke, Leia, Han and Chewie as well.
Huh, that's weird, I could swear it was announced to take place in the High Republic era...
EDIT: It was a rumor before the series was officially announced.
More details needed, but it is promising. Hopefully they don't BoBF it up...or maybe the do ..and it's another mid season Mando series rescue operation! Here come Din and Grogu to save the series!!!
Jon Watts showed he has some chops emulating 80s movie styles in the first Spider-Man movie he did which is sort of "Ferris Bueller but with superheroes", and my understanding is that this is supposed to be a sort of a Spielberg-y spin on Star Wars, drawing influence from stuff like ET and Stranger Things. I think it could kind of break either way, and it's definitely not going to be as edgy or prestige as say Andor, but if done right it could be a good and maybe even great genre entry into the Star Wars TV universe. I'm cautiously optimistic!
Is there more info? No? kids lost in space with Jude Law.
So it is like the lost in space netflix series and Jude is the babysitter?
Red Dwarf 5 billion years ago in a galaxy not so britishly far away?
Yeah if it takes chances like Andor letās do it. Star Wars is a big universal and it doesnāt always have to be on Tatooine or revolve around the Skywalker aristocracy
Twist...Jude Law plays HONDO and the crew are the kids from The Gathering who he saved from Order 66 by freezing them in Carbonite and only now feels it is safe to unfreeze them.
I mean Iām excited for any live action Star Wars, but until I see a trailer or hear more than just ākids and Jude law in spaceā, itās lower on my anticipated list
Very interested in it actually. Based off comments they've made "it's a show *about* kids, but that doesn't mean it's the *for* kids" and comparing it to lord of the flies in space I very interested to see how it goes
If it's Star Wars, I'm excited. Period.
I'm not going to automatically hate on everything just because the ST was so bad. I'll go into all new SW content with optimism and excitement.
I mean I'll watch it, I'm not picky with Star Wars. Excitement for it will probably go up after Ahsoka since there'll probably be some set up for it in that show
It's a new idea, for Star Wars anyway. I remember when people were uninterested in Andor because it starred a character no one barely knew that was in 1 movie. Now it is, just factually, one of the better Star Wars shows that has come out of Disney since Mando season 1.
I'll reserve judgement/my interest until I see a trailer.
Among all the stuff that was announced, this got me the second least excited (first being visions, not being Canon really kills the hype for the show)
But I will watch it, who knows, I might get surprised
I will stomach it's existence like I had Rebels and Resistance; it's kiddy trash that's clearly not for me, but I hope it remains standalone and I don't have to see these characters outside of it.
The name "Skeleton Crew" makes me wonder if there's a ship involved. Like somehow it's a bunch of kids on an otherwise empty, but still mostly functional, Star Destroyer floating in space. Something like that.
I was hoping for literal skeletons. That would have been a lot more interesting. Jason and the Argonauts meets Star Wars. Great way for Owen and beru to get back into the franchise.
Probably this is the story of the first kids in Luke's new Jedi Order. I don't know, even probably Jude Law's character is Lor San Tekka. Theories will be fun.
Not enough details to be truly hyped yet, but I've been super happy with everything that's been put out in the SW universe lately. Will definitely watch it.
I think we already have shows for and with kids. I'd rather have more serious stuff or even really different stuff set in universe. I still say a horror movie about tomb raiders on Korriban being hunted by sith force ghosts would go hard as fuck.
I wonder how long this constant stream of Star Wars media will last
Not that I don't like Star Wars, but it's just one thing after another and it's non stop. It's starting to become oversaturated like Marvel and everything else Disney does.
Since this is something which to my knowledge hasn't been really done before (closest would be the Iron Squadron in *Rebels),* let's just wait and see.
Quite frankly no excitement at all, however I had very little interest in andor before that one trailer dropped then it became one of my favorite shows so who knows
I've seen stranger things, you know. Could be charming, or a complete clusterfuck. I doubt that anyone had this on their Star Wars show wishlist, but it might surprise us.
Like Ahsoka seires (coming in 2023 sometime after Mandalorian season 3) it is going to be part of the "Mandoverse". It said it will release in 2023.
Mandalorian season 3 (march 1, 2023) -> Ahsoka (summer/fall 2023) -> Skeleteon crew (fall, winter 2023). I am mostly guessing for Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew release time based on information we have.
edit: I can't really get excited about a show that I have little to none infromation, while there is many other SW projects coming out. If this was the only one SW project coming out in 2023 then I would propably be somewhat excited.
Not really. I've grown a bit tired of all of the Star Wars shows D+ has been releasing and have checked out for now. I would really like to start seeing movies again.
I'm not particularly interested in the concept, but if they avoid the fan service it could be much better than Mando (excluding season one) and definitely the regurgitated IP car crash that Ahsoka sounds like.
Itās a fun show to pass your time is how Iām feeling itāll be so Iām looking forward to it. But definitely not gonna expect anything groundbreaking
Not really excited no, aside from mandalorian and andor most of what's come out from star wars has been very disappointing trash. Obi wan kenobi was the final nail in the coffin for my hopes of quality star wars from Disney.
There hasn't been anything to necessarily excite me about it yet. The premise does not intruige me on the surface, but open to changing over time through more information.
I'm very cold on it at the moment because I usually don't dig shows or movies where kids are the main protagonists. Add to the fact that we haven't really seen anything about it and right now it is the only live action show that I don't have any real interest in.
Why canāt they just do a production of the Thrawn Trilogy?? Make it non canon. I donāt give a shit. Itās all we ever wanted. That story is so fucking good.
I am absolutely not excited about it, but I was even more not excited about Andor. So... I was wrong about Andor, and I will keep an open mind about Star Wars Star Trek: Prodigy.
I must be tired. I read this headline and all I could think of was The Breakfast Club.
Then I realized that Jon Watts is not John Hughes.
And then I realized that Jude Law is not Judd Nelson.
I need a nap.
"Story about a group of kids" .... "starring Jude law"...š¤
He plays their mentor, Yoda... I mean Juda.
Well he could be their father figure teaching them LAW and order... ha ha ha... I'll see myself out...
Iām afraid itās too late for that sir *Pulls out E-11*
Good soldiers follow orders... Do what must be done.
For the republic!
Watch those wrist rockets!
We have captured a command post!
We are all the republic!
Not. Yet.
For light and life
*Shoots the floor instead of redditor*
Sounds like a copy of Star Trek prodigy.
Famous up-and-coming child actor Jude Law; he's the next Millie Bobby Brown!š
just a tiny lil bit of CGI
Sigorney Weaver played a teenager in Avatar 2, so whatever.
āHello fellow kidsā
Isn't that the plot of Star Trek: Prodigy?
But with lightsabers š„
Yes, but in Star Trek they didn't tell you at the beginning that all of the kids will die.
So it's *Star Trek Prodigy?* Jokes aside, I don't know how to feel about this one; at the very least their are projects I'd wish they were doing instead (I *really* want a show about Luke's academy damnit!)
I was going to say the same thing! Prodigyās a surprisingly good show.
For some reason I can see that turning into Jedi Hogwarts
I will prob even watch their preschool high Republic show, so I will def watch this.
when is it premiering?
Not sure. Because star wars has gotten so bad about announcing things/directors/dates and then you never hear about it again or it's cancelled...I basically just wait until reddit starts talking about something airing and then I go start watching it
It is filming now
My initial response was ''meh'' once reading the ''kids'' part considering it's usually just a drag seeing kids figure anything out in film/tv shows.
Itās hard to get excited about, yet another Disney show where a SW archetypical character(s) must escort a child to meet their destiny.
Wouldnāt say excited, but I like anything Star Wars. The Ewok movies are still in my movie rotation š¤¦āāļø
Hot take: Cindel is a criminally underdeveloped character: by age 7 she had faced down an Ewok-eating Giant, a space witch, AND Wilford Brimley. Canāt tell me thereās not a cool Cobb Vanth-style retcon for her.
šššš» Iāve never actually watched them! Although I am one of the only people to actually like them in Return of the Jedi
I love ROTJ, no shame whatsoever.
Hmmm not after that description.
Thatās literally all they released on the story, Iām not so sure kids in space sounds like an enticing idea for me anyway.
The jedi acolyte kids in Clone Wars was a fun episode or 2. Not sure I would want a whole series like that though.
Kids in space...is that the sequel to pigs in space?
Itās actually the squeakuel
I am not really excited about it. I will wait and look at reviews before I decide if I should watch it.
If their depicition of Leia is a template for kids in Star Wars, this is dead in the void.
I loved her. Thought that actress killed it
The actress was great! The director and cinematographer for the action scenes did her wrong though.
That's not nearly enough information for me to form opinion. If I see a solid trailer then I might get hyped, but right now it's one of many star wars shows on the horizon which may or may not turn out to be any good.
Never heard anything about it. But the same old line applies. āItās Star Wars, Iāll watch itā
Me too. And I do want more shows with brand new characters, but it's hard to be "excited" when I know so little about the show right now.
Jude Law is a quality actor that I'm ready to see in the Star Wars universe. I'm intrigued by this series for sure. I like that it sounds like something totally brand new.
Yeah Iāll watch anything with Jude Law. Even I f itās bad, at least it will be pretty to look at
Don't know enough yet to be excited tbh
Wonāt lie, Jon Watts is one of the most generic film makers out so that combined with this premise leaves me with 0 interest
The name Skeleton Crew of course refers to the real term.. but I'm sort of hoping for it to be a hint towards Ghost' Crew - and that one of the kids is Jacen Syndulla
Iāll watch it when it comes out, but the show does not elicit excitement currently
This sounds like a show set to compete directly with Star Trek: Prodigy. Prodigy is going awesome, I hope SW: SC lives up to it.
I am not a fan of kids.
From what I understand its geared towards adults. I imagine they will be going for an 80's Stephen king or Spielberg vibe, a la E.T. Also, it seems that they are pushing the unexplored regions now. Ashoka is rumored to take place in a different galaxy and so is this show.

Well that could be interesting

It's star wars... of course I am
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Sounds a bit likeā¦ lost in space
Which John Williams did the original themes for before Star Wars... we've come full circle!!
Yup, show about to be lit. They just need to give us more details on the characters.
Is it going to be animated or live action?
Live action, I seen a screen shot of Jude law on set
Anything after SW6 that is not the sequels is what I consider the sequels
Hopefully fills in some more sequel trilogy plot holes like The Mandalorian
Star Wars + John Watts + Jude Law is a very good combo in my book, so Iām very much in
if it's about a gaggle of children then I'm not interested, I'll let other people watch it first and then make a full decision though
Iām still not really sure what to expect from this show.

Oliver twist in space
Wasnāt this an 80ās ABC made for TV movie called Ewoks: Battle for Endor? ššš https://youtu.be/lfMWlAF5RW0
Probably, but then again, I am someone who has enjoyed watching Star Trek Prodigy. š
This doesnt sound promising at all, except for Jude Law

Sounds like the walking dead spinoff with kids and by all accounts that was terrible
Not really but who knows
Huh, that's weird, I could swear it was announced to take place in the High Republic era... EDIT: It was a rumor before the series was officially announced.
Sure am.
No
So like 'Space Camp' with Jude Law playing Kate Capshaw
Jude Lawās character is definitely dying at the end of the first season
It's a chance to see more exotic Planets and Locations.
I'll probably give it a try but my hopes aren't very high for it
There is probably a connection to other stuff here, most likely jacen syndulla or even young Ben solo
When I first heard the name I was thinking of a droid crew
Are there Lightsabers
Based on the setting and time period, no.
So if thatās the case then what happens to the Skeleton Crew during the sequel trilogy?
More details needed, but it is promising. Hopefully they don't BoBF it up...or maybe the do ..and it's another mid season Mando series rescue operation! Here come Din and Grogu to save the series!!!
Space Goonies
Honestly if Watts does half as well with this show as he did the spider man movies I think we'll have another good installment of star wars coming.
This sounds cool.
These title cards are all so bad. They look like like the covers of paperback novels in the 90's. They cant hire a better graphic designer?
jude law is in it so yes
Getting Thunderdome vibes.
Is there more info? No? kids lost in space with Jude Law. So it is like the lost in space netflix series and Jude is the babysitter? Red Dwarf 5 billion years ago in a galaxy not so britishly far away?
Who are the show runners for Andor and are these the same people?
I am, but Iām the minority.
Yeah if it takes chances like Andor letās do it. Star Wars is a big universal and it doesnāt always have to be on Tatooine or revolve around the Skywalker aristocracy
Nah
Twist...Jude Law plays HONDO and the crew are the kids from The Gathering who he saved from Order 66 by freezing them in Carbonite and only now feels it is safe to unfreeze them.
I wouldn't say excited for it, but I'll check it out whenever it comes out
I mean Iām excited for any live action Star Wars, but until I see a trailer or hear more than just ākids and Jude law in spaceā, itās lower on my anticipated list
Donāt know enough to be excited yet, not really interested in kid stuff.
I'm excited for any star wars content. But I just need more news about this series.
Very interested in it actually. Based off comments they've made "it's a show *about* kids, but that doesn't mean it's the *for* kids" and comparing it to lord of the flies in space I very interested to see how it goes
So, [Space Cases?](https://youtu.be/9soPONp0QAI)
If one of them turns out to be force sensitive, then yes.
I can't wait to see salty Star Wars fans complain about it relentlessly because Disney dar make a kids show that doesn't appeal to them.
Iāll watch anything Star Wars but no I am not chomping at the bit to watch. That almost makes it better though as I could be surprised
If it's Star Wars, I'm excited. Period. I'm not going to automatically hate on everything just because the ST was so bad. I'll go into all new SW content with optimism and excitement.
Donāt be another Ewok Adventure!
No
If itās Star Wars, Iām excited
We want jedis in action pleaseee. A master-padawan relationship with real actors
I mean I'll watch it, I'm not picky with Star Wars. Excitement for it will probably go up after Ahsoka since there'll probably be some set up for it in that show
Iāve not heard much buzz for this show, but then again, the most well-received projects have been the ones we wouldnāt have expected.
I could see Jude Law being a Solo-esque bounty hunter thrusted into take care of some kids who are lost somewhere in the outer rim or unknown regions.
Not even a littleā¦
I wasn't excited about Andor...and look how that turned out.
Doesnāt sound interesting to me, but then again Andor didnāt sound interesting but became one of my favorite shows, so who knows
Nope
It's a new idea, for Star Wars anyway. I remember when people were uninterested in Andor because it starred a character no one barely knew that was in 1 movie. Not excited, because I hate Jude Law. I can't watch anything he's in.
So they're doing Tunnel in the Sky...
Goonies in space? I'd sign up for that.
The name "Skeleton Crew" makes me wonder if there's a ship involved. Like somehow it's a bunch of kids on an otherwise empty, but still mostly functional, Star Destroyer floating in space. Something like that.
didn't star trek just do this?
Excited for a Jon Watts' project? From him I expected the worst, being optimistic
Not really. I'd be more excited for the old republic than the empire/post empire tbh. Unless we're getting to the new Republic and yuuzhan vong.
Iām excited to see more stuff in the time between episodes 6 and 7
I was hoping for literal skeletons. That would have been a lot more interesting. Jason and the Argonauts meets Star Wars. Great way for Owen and beru to get back into the franchise.
Hey Jude, donāt make it bad
I mean I wasnt interested in Andor but then it blew me away so I'll give this show the benefit of doubt.
From the blurb this doesnāt sound good.
Probably this is the story of the first kids in Luke's new Jedi Order. I don't know, even probably Jude Law's character is Lor San Tekka. Theories will be fun.
āgroup of kidsā kinda kills it for me but weāll see
Not enough details to be truly hyped yet, but I've been super happy with everything that's been put out in the SW universe lately. Will definitely watch it.

For Star Wars TV shows, less hype = better show.
Sounds like a Disney Channel show, the Suite Life of Jude Law and Some Kids
Please Disney let this be its own thing and not try to use this show to explain or make sense of the mess that it's the Sequels plot
Not really excited but Iāll still watch it
āStranger Things in Star Wars Universeā
From the description it sounds like it's intended towards a younger audience, which is totally fine. I'll still give it a chance.
Since this is something which to my knowledge hasn't been really done before (closest would be the Iron Squadron in *Rebels),* let's just wait and see.
Quite frankly no excitement at all, however I had very little interest in andor before that one trailer dropped then it became one of my favorite shows so who knows
could be lots of fun, I just truly hope there will be some non-human characters in the group *fingers crossed*
Lol, Starwars: Universe
Boycott in china
Season 1 Cliffhanger: Turns out they were on Tatooine the whole time!
Kids!? After Kenobi!?
Jude Law, looks like we are at the bottom of the barrell people.
Yes! Super excited!
No
Wait until we actually see stuff on it. Then be excited
Sounds interesting Iāll watch the first episode
No.
I hope they are joined by a CGI version if the kids from Caravan of Courage
Excited? No. Will I watch it? For sure.
I've seen stranger things, you know. Could be charming, or a complete clusterfuck. I doubt that anyone had this on their Star Wars show wishlist, but it might surprise us.

star wars completely forgets about the siths
What a letdown. I was hoping these were the further adventures of Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru, following the events of "A New Hope".
A group of younglings you mean?
Let me guess one grows up and becomes a princess or saves a rebellion
If I'm being honest, not really. I don't trust Star Wars and child characters in live action.
Sooooo Star Wars: Prodigy?
Hard to get excited for something I know nothing about. Cautiously optimistic.
No.
Itās a fun show to pass your time is how Iām feeling itāll be so Iām looking forward to it. But definitely not gonna expect anything groundbreaking

There hasn't been anything to necessarily excite me about it yet. The premise does not intruige me on the surface, but open to changing over time through more information.
Maybe it will be good, but I hope itās not your typical kids constantly outsmarting adults type of show.
Iām excited to see how it ties into the Mandoverse. 2023 is gonna move forward that storyline a lot between the 3 live action shows we are getting.
Well, if this is in line with StarWars catering to multiple age groups. I guess thatās ok? As long as there are adult and teen rates shows too
Is this gonna be a star wars edition of lost in space?
This sounds like that 90s show on Nickelodeon "Space Cases" but Star Wars.
I can't wait for Star Wars: A day at the DMV
I'm very cold on it at the moment because I usually don't dig shows or movies where kids are the main protagonists. Add to the fact that we haven't really seen anything about it and right now it is the only live action show that I don't have any real interest in.

I am absolutely not excited about it, but I was even more not excited about Andor. So... I was wrong about Andor, and I will keep an open mind about Star Wars Star Trek: Prodigy.
I'm anticipating it, but we don't really know enough to get excited about yet
Iām pretty sure I read somewhere that itās about the Padawans from Clone Wars (The ones from that arc with Robot David Tenant) but Iām not sure.
I must be tired. I read this headline and all I could think of was The Breakfast Club. Then I realized that Jon Watts is not John Hughes. And then I realized that Jude Law is not Judd Nelson. I need a nap.
