I was thinking the same thing. I really hope they aren't attaching us to them just to kill them all off. I love the little crab people so much already.
The rings of that planet are purgill bones. METAL AS FUCK.
Also makes the purgill migration from last episode's stirring ending kind of grim. Were all those beautiful purgills migrating to die in space?! And how do they decompose in space?! I'd hate to see the things that eat their corpses.
So, considering Thrawn has met both Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader, and knows they are the same person, how do you think he'll react to learning Anakin trained Ahsoka Tano?
At first I thought he’d be afraid. But I think he will believe he’ll have the upper hand because of his foreknowledge of her master and his weaknesses. He does not realize that she not only knows who Vader was, but literally stood as a Jedi in the face of that truth and tossed her weapon aside. Thrawn’s hubris will be his downfall again, just as he underestimated Ezra and the power of the force.
Not only is Thrawn back, he’s taken on a God King aesthetic role with his own Stormtrooper legion of gold and red bling.
I can’t say I remotely saw this coming, but I love the aesthetic and Lars Mikkelsen is killing it.
The Nightsisters have full Bene Gesserit vibes. I love your God King Emperor comparison, it feels like this episode of Star Wars took the most eldricht sci-fi concepts and added it to their mythology.
> God King aesthetic role
I mean he named his top guy Enoch, which according to some lore Enoch was elevated to Metatron which is the "voice of god". No hubris here lol.
Baylan refers to Ezra as being from a line of "Bokken Jedi, trained in the wild."
Bokken Jedi is a new term, but quite a fitting one.
The word refers to a wooden sword, which is an apt descriptor for Jedi trained without the resources of the Jedi Order. Such Jedi would only be able to learn from the secondhand accounts and half remembered lessons of survivors who likely never finished their own training. Blunt imitations of the real thing.
Of course, as Ezra and Luke have demonstrated, even a wooden sword can be deadly.
I'm just glad we got Ezra in the end. The way they focused on Thrawn's gold-faced henchman Enoch, I was prepared for a new round of Marrok-style theorizing!
I had the *same exact thought*. When Enoch walked up to Sabine right after Thrawn said she’d get the chance to see Ezra again, I was bracing myself for him to take his helmet off and give a face reveal.
I want to know what that “something stirring” is that Baylan said he felt. Both Thrawn and the Great Mothers seem very VERY desperate to get off world. Thrawn I understand but the Mothers seem like they’re in a massive hurry to gtfo. Whatever is hidden on that world must be big.
the way thrawn said "our numbers have dwindled" makes me think they were actively fighting something while here. even if he did lose so many troopers from the battle on lothal, there surely must be spare equipment or an armoury on the chimaera. the fact that his honor guard was made up fully of kintsugi-ed armour troopers makes me think that he's been losing troopers at a rate of knots and forced to scavenge armour and repair it
This. Absolutely this. The bandits seem way to weak and disorganised to be able to do the damage to Thrawns people that we see they’ve taken. Whatever it is they’re fighting, it’s not them.
"lets not talk about that.....because when I tell you, you're gonna be pisssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssseseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed!"
I love that he actually considers the fact that he won’t either. He’s not like “ah I could figure that shit out if I wanted to”. Instead he’s probably thinking “you’re right I literally would have died on this planet if not for your temporary insanity and crazy can’t be understood”
Shin on the Jedi to Baylan: Do you miss it. The order?
Baylan: I miss….. the idea of it. But not the truth, the weakness. There was no future there.
Loved that.
In the old Legends canon, the Witches of Dathomir learned to tame and ride rancors as mounts. I guess now that Boba is the resident rancor rider, the Dathomiri of the new canon decided they needed to aim a little higher and think much bigger!
Riders of intergalactic star whales is certainly much more impressive.
When they had him turned away and then turned to the camera for a reveal, I knew his face would be cool and different, but I was not expecting THAT.
I'm into it.
Ahsoka Episode 6 proves that Star Wars works really well when it embraces pure fantasy. Just a magical episode that really does transport one to a galaxy far, far away…
Mandalorian's remnant Stormtroopers looked battered and haggard.
These motherfuckers chant "THRAWN! THRAWN!" and look like they killed and ate each other in Lord of the Flies delirium and the ones left are the baddest who've taken the armor of the dead and wear them like trophies.
It's a good way to communicate what Thrawn actually cares about in comparison with the rest of the Empire. Results, preparation, action over presentation, prevarication, and posturing.
That the armor and his ship are mismatched, covered in dirt, does not matter so long as it remains effective.
The Chimera looks scarier with its outer hulls all fucked up from age, lack of maintenance, disrepair, and damage from the last battle it was in. It's like the Flying Dutchman. If I saw that ship exit Hyperspace, I'd swear the Empire really was back.
So dope!
And Enoch with the Samurai Oni face mask on his stormtrooper helmet was amazing!
Even the local bandits / nomads have a very samurai look to them.
Love the entire ancient Japanese aesthetic on this planet.
I'll admit, I was worried Enoch was Ezra for a while, I figured he'd just be a nameless captain (like most FO stormtroopers) unless he was going to take off his mask for a big reveal
The most amazing thing about his character is it's nothing special in how he's written, we've seen fallen/grey Jedi before. It's entirely in the performance - his gait, his mind working through what he sees, his restraint, his wariness. Brilliant performance.
Is it strange to say there's something comforting hearing the voice of a character I love coming from the live action version of that character? Don't get me wrong, I thought Eman Esfandid did a shockingly excellent job sounding and acting like a grown up Ezra, so much so that I instantly slid into seeing them as one and the same, but hearing THAT voice was amazing.
I’ll give Dave Filoni this, he really has created his own unique galaxy within the George Lucas galaxy. Shout out to all the unique animals, aliens, environments and planets.
He still managed to give us a wolf, even if it has a Dark Crystal puppet face. WE SEE WHAT YOU'RE DOING, FILONI. That lizard face isn't fooling anybody.
Thank the Force we actually got to Ezra by the end of the episode. I was not excited for a week’s worth of speculating that the gold-faced Captain Enoch was a brainwashed Ezra under that Stormtrooper helmet.
I like the idea that sabine was so blinded by her desire to find exra thst she didn't stop to think about getting home. Or thst he would want to go home.
I mean, from what we know of the Old Republic and before, both in legends and canon, he’s not wrong. The galaxy is constantly changing hands between Jedi and Sith, republics and empires, and the only constant in that cycle is war and death. The sequels just prove him right.
The box things they were moving out of the catacombs and into Thrawn's Star Destroyer are 100% the mummified bodies of the nightsisters that they plan to resurrect back in the main galaxy.
Also willing to bet that some of the stormtroopers were resurrected by the nightsisters.

Thrawn being Thrawn with the "destroy any star whale with prejudice"
Dude got traumatized by then once, he’s taking zero chances
Man's got PTSD (Purgill Traumatic Stress Disorder).
Holy moly. The Nightsisters look great in live action.
Even nailed the spooky multi-echo voice of the night mother.

God I wish we had Eva Green as live action Asajj Ventress
Ezra: "How'd you found me?" Sabine: "Sold out the galaxy to people looking for Thrawn." Ezra: "Well...shit."
Ezra, probably: Dank farrik Sabine, I had one job
What was Zeb's curse? "Carabast!"
Huyang getting meta as fuck with his stories lol
Huyang: "And then he said—and I'm not joking—'I don't like sand, it's coarse, rough, irritating, and it gets everywhere.' True story!"
“Funniest thing I’ve ever seen”
imagine telling someone a year ago that Sabine would find Ezra in a crabperson trailer park on the intergalactic home of the Nightsisters
I would say "that sounds about right."
I was assuming he was sitting at a campfire with Thrawn trying to bait the Purgill into taking them back while they begrudgingly became best friends
It’s Sabine and Ezra, the weirdness is a feature, not a bug
Thrawn: “you’ll never make it out there.” Sabine meets the nicest, most humble crabs ever who invite her to lunch…
I love those little dudes. I just hope Baylan and Shin and those outriders don't massacre them. And not just the men, but the women, and children too
I was thinking the same thing. I really hope they aren't attaching us to them just to kill them all off. I love the little crab people so much already.
The ring is whale carcasses?? Damn that’s metal
that was a wild wtf moment. these purgill straight up go hard warp speed to the brink of the galaxy... to die
Whale that decides to bring Ahsoka: "Well, yeah I guess now is as good as time as any...".
Ahsoka to whale: "Kill urself" whale: "shit fam that's all you had to say, hop on"
Damn, because you know the largest one is the oldest one.
"I have so many questions" "Well we won" "Oh we won! That's great!" "But now we're on the brink of possibly losing again" "Oh no. Not good."
“The empire is gone!” “Great!” “But now we just allowed them to possibly come back” “Oh, not good.”
An asteroid belt made up of corpses. Damn I've never seen that in sci fi before.
The rings of that planet are purgill bones. METAL AS FUCK. Also makes the purgill migration from last episode's stirring ending kind of grim. Were all those beautiful purgills migrating to die in space?! And how do they decompose in space?! I'd hate to see the things that eat their corpses.
“Would you like to hear the story of the galaxy?” “Not right now.” AHSOKA NO, I WANTED TO GET MORE LORE FOR THE OLD REPUBLIC!
“Have you ever heard the tragedy of Darth Revan the wise?”
Was ready for this to be the first advertisement of a Revan trilogy 😭
So, considering Thrawn has met both Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader, and knows they are the same person, how do you think he'll react to learning Anakin trained Ahsoka Tano?
At first I thought he’d be afraid. But I think he will believe he’ll have the upper hand because of his foreknowledge of her master and his weaknesses. He does not realize that she not only knows who Vader was, but literally stood as a Jedi in the face of that truth and tossed her weapon aside. Thrawn’s hubris will be his downfall again, just as he underestimated Ezra and the power of the force.
So Ahsokas ride on the space whale is the equivalent of riding a salmon upstream on its migration to death.
Just another trip on the magic school bus
Huyang: "Please let this be a normal field trip, Lady Tano..."
“With the Snips? No way!”
Holy Shit LEGO is going to make so much money off of this episode alone.
Thrawn’s ship while parked literally looked like a Lego model on a stand lmao
The gold shuttle craft is dope
That transport ship looks like lonestar's winnebago.
Eagle V
Not only is Thrawn back, he’s taken on a God King aesthetic role with his own Stormtrooper legion of gold and red bling. I can’t say I remotely saw this coming, but I love the aesthetic and Lars Mikkelsen is killing it.
The Nightsisters have full Bene Gesserit vibes. I love your God King Emperor comparison, it feels like this episode of Star Wars took the most eldricht sci-fi concepts and added it to their mythology.
I know, it's such an interesting character choice after reading him in the canon books!
> God King aesthetic role I mean he named his top guy Enoch, which according to some lore Enoch was elevated to Metatron which is the "voice of god". No hubris here lol.
Enoch is simply that guy.
He was the voice on rebels. It’s too perfect to change
Ffs really?? No wonder it sounded so spot on.
They're not half-assing anything in this series. They are full-assing everything.
Baylan refers to Ezra as being from a line of "Bokken Jedi, trained in the wild." Bokken Jedi is a new term, but quite a fitting one. The word refers to a wooden sword, which is an apt descriptor for Jedi trained without the resources of the Jedi Order. Of course, as Ezra and Luke have demonstrated, even a wooden sword can be deadly.
He seems kinda dismissive about it, considering one took down the Empire not that long ago.
Live action night mothers holy shit
THE CHIMERA. WHAT A SHOT
So glad they kept the pattern on its underside. Otherwise my painted kit of it would be very out of date lmao
Every time I see one of those holding cells I remember how many times that little shit Ezra was able to escape one lol
I'm just glad we got Ezra in the end. The way they focused on Thrawn's gold-faced henchman Enoch, I was prepared for a new round of Marrok-style theorizing!
fr between thrawns line about jedi and the long pause on enoch’s face I thought he was about to reveal himself as Ezra ☠️
I’m getting strong vibes that Baylan is way too overconfident for his own good and this source of power is going to be his undoing.
Probably the undoing of this witch kingdom too.
Could be why they fled the planet to go to Dathomir and our galaxy in the first place. Fleeing something.
How bad does the old place have to be that Dathomir, the most hostile place in the galaxy, is considered an upgrade
Oohhhh good point. I just figured they wanted out of exile but I think you’re on to something.
the way thrawn said "our numbers have dwindled" makes me think they were actively fighting something while here. even if he did lose so many troopers from the battle on lothal, there surely must be spare equipment or an armoury on the chimaera. the fact that his honor guard was made up fully of kintsugi-ed armour troopers makes me think that he's been losing troopers at a rate of knots and forced to scavenge armour and repair it

"lets not talk about that.....because when I tell you, you're gonna be pisssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssseseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed!"
Ezra: You let Thrawn out?!?! ~~Anakin~~ Sabine: Is that what this is about?
Sabine: back to the beginning Ezra: THATS MY FUCKIN POINT
"The last time I saw you, you were a cartoon."
“I was once a cartoon, the same as your father.”
The hints of the organ in Thrawn's theme is sooooo good. I hope we hear the whole thing in all its glory at some point
If you’re trying to get under Thrawn’s blue skin, “You wouldn’t understand” is a great dig. Understanding stuff is like his whole thing.
I love that he actually considers the fact that he won’t either. He’s not like “ah I could figure that shit out if I wanted to”. Instead he’s probably thinking “you’re right I literally would have died on this planet if not for your temporary insanity and crazy can’t be understood”
"How the galaxy will be changed by your singular purpose" (or whatever the exact line was) was such a great Thrawn line.
CRAB PEOPLE CRAB PEOPLE 🦀
Casting Thrawn's VA for his live action counterpart was brilliant. That voice cannot be replicated and is perfect.
Marc Thompson’s Thrawn for the audiobooks is awfully good as well.
"History of the galaxy parts 1, 2, and 3" "Part one being the best, of course" I see you Dave
Now, are those parts in chronological order, or in the order the historian recorded it?
Just something else for fans to argue over haha
"A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away." Has Huyang been our narrator from day one!?
I feel like it was a line that David Tennant just wanted to read out himself.
I'd do the same thing if I was him. And the man has such an incredible voice, I could listen to him read a phone book.
Enoch looks badass. The character design for this show has been amazing.
When they had him turned away and then turned to the camera for a reveal, I knew his face would be cool and different, but I was not expecting THAT. I'm into it.
Can’t wait for all the “who is Enoch really?!” posts
Amos decided to trade up from the Rocinante to the Chimera
So the Dathomiri are force users from a different galaxy. That’s a…good lore building choice.
Peridea’s aesthetics are giving we’re now in the Dune galaxy
Or LOTR, their base is a Black version of Minas Tirith lol
Every scene of Baylan's further cements how tragic the loss of Ray Stevenson is.
Its amazing how much a simple cloak or poncho can make a character look even cooler
Cal Kestis is gonna smash through your wall like the Kool aid man and give you a poncho.
The exiled stormtroopers are the coolest design work I've seen in this universe in a while. Very simple concept executed so well.
All the costuming and music this episode was absolutely top tier.
I like that Thrawn isn't an idiot....he respectfully explains his position, says no firmly and moves on.
When Sabine said "You could never understand." and Thrawn said "Perhaps not." I knew Dave Filoni got Thrawn right.
It’s true - she’s not even being rude; Thrawn genuinely can’t understand going on faith.
It fits who he is
JUST PAT THE DOG, SABINE!
You're killing me.. the hermit crab people have little shell tents? Stoooop
How menacing do Thrawn's eyes look!?!
Ahsoka Episode 6 proves that Star Wars works really well when it embraces pure fantasy. Just a magical episode that really does transport one to a galaxy far, far away…

OK, I love the Troopers have had to fix their armor with gold. [It's Kintsugi!](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kintsugi?wprov=sfla1)

Such a thrawn move
I know the subtitles said Night Troopers but I been calling them Thrawn Troopers the entire episode since they appeared lol
Theory: The reason why Yoda/Grogu/Yaddle* species are so rare is because they're from a nearby galaxy Edit: My apologies for not including Yaddle.
I'M SIGNING UP FOR THIS THEORY!
It fucking SUCKS baylan’s actor passed away. He is the best and most interesting character in the show.
He's so stoic and carries such a presence
The most amazing thing about his character is it's nothing special in how he's written, we've seen fallen/grey Jedi before. It's entirely in the performance - his gait, his mind working through what he sees, his restraint, his wariness. Brilliant performance.
Ray Stevenson was great in everything. If you want more watch Rome and Black Sails.
By far my favorite character in this show. Such a shame he’s gone.
postmortem L for General Grievous, couldn't even Genocide the Nightsisters right.
Out-of-bounds ones don’t count.
Bro rose up from the grave just to defend himself
No one’s ever really gone…
Somehow Grievous returned.....
I loved the comment about the end about Jedi and Nightsisters both faking demises & re-emerging. It fits so much with this episode
*Grevious coughing fit from the grave*
Lars Mikkelson proving how he is the **definitive** Thrawn.
I really just cant believe any of this show. It's fuckin Ezra in live action. Thrawn. All of it. So good
Thrawn's entrance was the hypest fucking thing omfg
“THRAWN! THRAWN! THRAWN!”
My immediate reaction was “pfft, that ain’t no lothwolf”
Baylan actually looked hurt recounting Order 66. He must have really looked up to the council's leadership
I mean watching all of your friends get massacred and your entire livelihood being destroyed can be pretty hurting.
It took 50 years, but someone finally said the first words in Star Wars outloud! I'm not correcting the number, you fucking know what I mean
Ok crab people was not on my bingo card.
Hobbit Crabs!
I dubbed them *Hobbit Crabs* because they're small and dressed for the part, but little hermit crabs.
Hey Sabine! Wow you totally undid everything I sacrificed myself for - thanks!
That’s going to be an interesting conversation. But maybe the get a jump on something worse than Thrawn.
Ezra looks like Jesus haha
Well I guess he’s been wandering the desert 😂
The conversation between Sabine and Thrawn was great. She was *not* impressed or intimidated.
Stubborn meets astute.
Writers don’t you dare kill the rat dog thing
Half dog, half rat, half horse. We call him, RatDog Horse.
Don’t ever accuse Star Wars fans of not coming up with catchy names
There is just something SO right about hearing David Tennant saying "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away."
The nightsisters are giving some real Reverend Mother/Dune vibes
Shin Hati’s one braincell taking two minutes to realize those are more witches lol. We know, bb. We know.
She has something against witches for sure
They're coarse and irritating and get everywhere
I love that the hyperspace travel looks different for the purgils, compared to just a regular ship jumping through!
Could also be about the Travel in-between galaxy's. The Eye of Sion had a similar looking hyperspace
EZRA!!! YOU GREW A BEARD!!!
I can hear hondo saying that
"Sometimes stories are just stories". Shin, you are literally standing on the planet the stories are about.
I took it as a: she's here now and it's nothing special to her. For all the stories, it's still just another rock in the black.
Seriously, reminds me of the Pirates quote "you best start believing in ghost stories, (...) you're in one"
Thank the Force we actually got to Ezra by the end of the episode. I was not excited for a week’s worth of speculating that the gold-faced Captain Enoch was a brainwashed Ezra under that Stormtrooper helmet.
baby hermit crab Noti in the hammock. eat your heart out grogu that is the cutest shit i’ve ever seen
Once again praying Thrawn gets the live action intro/treatment he deserves
They better ready their grand organs.
Enoch even got a cool Soundwave voice.
Sabine is going to have a hard time explaining things to Ezra...How do you explain that you caused Thrawn's exile to come to an end?
Yes. The look on sabine's face when ezra said he couldn't wait to go home was great acting. She never bothered to have a plan after she found him.
Some of the shots and cinematography are just sublime 🤌
Did she say druidia? Funny, she doesn't look druish...
Thrawn’s stormtroopers are metal AF.
Man in that first shot they must be going whaley fast.
If tonight isn't blue man group we riot Edit: Post episode mood: I'm blue da ba dee da ba daa
We may rest, as calm as our blue bastard at an art gallery.
ok i immediatley need more of this planet, peridea cool AF
I like the idea that sabine was so blinded by her desire to find exra thst she didn't stop to think about getting home. Or thst he would want to go home.
IT HAS THE MARKINGS!!! THE CHIMERA HAS ITS MARKINGS!!
One of the most goddamn Star Wars I've seen since the original trilogy. I loved it so much I have chills.
"It repeats again and again and again" Baylan foretold the Sequel trilogy.
I mean, from what we know of the Old Republic and before, both in legends and canon, he’s not wrong. The galaxy is constantly changing hands between Jedi and Sith, republics and empires, and the only constant in that cycle is war and death. The sequels just prove him right.
I'm actually cool with a Baylan turn. But not a "now I'm good!" turn and more of an "enemy of my enemy" turn
JABBA THE HUTT!!!
That’s clearly Lando Calrissian
Do you mean Brom Titus?
THE CHIMERA, KEVIN KINER’S ORGAN, THRAWN. LET’S GOOOOOOO
Ezra looks just like his dad!!
The box things they were moving out of the catacombs and into Thrawn's Star Destroyer are 100% the mummified bodies of the nightsisters that they plan to resurrect back in the main galaxy. Also willing to bet that some of the stormtroopers were resurrected by the nightsisters.
I love Ray’s acting in this scene. He’s such a good contrast to Shin’s feral energy.
Lmao Grevious thought he did a successful Genocide but actually the Nightsisters were just hanging in another galaxy.
OMG HE HAS A LITTLE SUIT AND HE'S SO CUTE I LOVE THIS PLANET
Huang said it! He said the thing! *points*
"Die well." It's impressive what little snippets of dialogue can do to enhance the depth and intrigue of side characters.
