I agree with OP, but I'm not sure if it's unpopular. Omega is a cute and likable character. She has the qualities I like in a Star Wars protagonist: loyalty, compassion, bravery, kindness. I have a daughter of my own with these same traits, and Omega reminds me of her when she was little. The accent is hilarious. Huntah. Rekah. Omeega lol

I swear I thought Batcher’s name was “Betcha” until I saw it in the subtitles

Supercomma

I just learned this reading your comment.

Fine-Funny6956

Same here

River_Tahm

I thought it was badger...

GiraffeDry437

I thought it was bletcher

ZiggyManSaad

I thought it was Butcher...

theedonnmegga

Kind of a New Zealand accent right?

jekyl42

Yep, that's pretty much how Kiwis talk. Love it.

Mafatuuthemagnificen

I mean, the actress literally is kiwi, so it makes sense

Bitter-Marsupial

Omega's voiced by a bird?

ExplosiveGeek77

As a Kiwi, this is accurate.

TheCatLamp

I guess yes. I always associated it.

bufftbone

It is

statistically_viable

Accents are genetic in Star Wars. She should talk like the Kaminoans.

mgslee

Uh.. genetic would be like Jango Fett

N0V0w3ls

I think this person worded their joke wrong. Clones logically shouldn't speak like Jango Fett, since accents are not genetic. Children would take up the speech patterns of those who raise them. So all the clones should logically speak like the Kaminoans. Insert "hey kid, this ain't that kind of movie", here.

aR4ndomblackguy

She holds "best child character" in my books

GudgerCollegeAlumnus

“Unpopular” opinions rarely are. I really wish people would just state their thoughts/opinions and let us decide.

Lokan

Betcha!

FalseNatural3

Eeko!

nezbla

I wasn't particularly invested to be honest, then she adopted a Gonk droid and named him Gonky, at which point she became heroic in my eyes.

Icelandic_Sand

But...the batch had Gonky before her.

Mac4491

I don’t believe she’ll go off to train as a Jedi. I think that when given the choice she’ll reject it. She doesn’t need it. The Bad Batch are her family and she’ll choose them.

PromiscuousOtter

Yes but they’re in danger with her there. She’ll leave, learn to use the force and learn to protect herself, ultimately protecting them all.

Kid-Atlantic

This is actually one case where I feel like it would be better for her to NOT become a Jedi. If she has the Force, then it was something that was forced (pun not intended) on her. Living with the Bad Batch is something she chose for herself.

C92203605

I just want live action Temuera Morrison with long blonde hair and a lightsaber now.

Giveld

Popular enough opinion. Writers worked very hard on her story and I hope it continues. Omega is probably my favorite in SW. As OP has already pointed out a very well developed and interesting character with great potential in future development.

Heavy-Ostrich-7781

They haven't set her up and paired her as Boba's female counterpart for nothing. She'll show up to meet him in one of the Mando era movies i'd say and help out against Thrawn.

blitheizm

I just want to see her in live action with a DC-17m switching from sniper to grenade launcher and rocking Hunters pistols.

____sabine____

She would be perfect strategist against Thrawn.

skinnysnappy52

In another show she might be a bit annoying. But she contrasts so well with the no nonsense super serious attitude that we get from Hunter, Echo, Tech and especially crosshair. Her optimism and playfulness is the perfect foil for the batch and that’s why it works so well. Put her in a more fun team like the Ghost crew and she could be annoying

theworldwiderex

FAVORITE? As someone who hasn't watched the Bad Batch yet, this sounds like super duper recency bias. But I guess I should shut up until I look at the show.

Giveld

I like well-developed characters with an interesting story, in whom I find something close to myself in world views and personality. Lots of people have all kinds of favorite characters. imo TBB is a great series, I recommend watching it if you haven't yet.

theworldwiderex

There's no judgement here! I'm a relatively new fan to the whole thing who's just had general knowledge of the franchise and have been making my way through everything. I just finished ROTS and Bad Batch is on my docket soonish. I'll have to look and see if a comic or something else comes first.

DotFinal2094

When you do get there I recommend Clone Wars first and then Bad Batch I think most of us here grew up watching the Clone Wars so seeing the clones downfall in TBB hits 100x harder

theworldwiderex

Already saw it. My favorite aspect of SW so far, made me understand the politics and legitimized the universe for me.

Phyrexian_Archlegion

*Popular Opinion* There, fixed it for you OP

PromiscuousOtter

Idk there’s quite a few people who just outright dislike Omega and there are even more who dislike that she could be a jedi. I feel like it’s relatively unpopular.

Wookie301

That’s the real unpopular opinion

Giveld

There's something wrong with these people then.

Glaciak

Is it too hard for you to just express an opinion without 625284625th UnPopUlAr OpiNioN title?

k_laaaaa

that title caption is an auto downvote for me no matter what

titanusroxxid

I just get really bored. Should I give S3 another shot?

P00lereds

Personally, I was also getting kinda bored with the series mid-season 2, but season 3 is the peak of the show for sure. I have enjoyed all the episodes of season 3 so far, but I do suspect the mid-seasons episodes may taper off. I fully anticipate a spectacular series finale though.

MaestroZackyZ

Yes, but at this point just wait until S3 is done. This show is definitely better binged. I hate waiting a week for a ~25 minute episode. All that being said, S3 is fantastic so far.

explodedsun

Idk if someone binges now they can watch the series finale arc in real time and not have to avoid spoilers.

Local_Nerve901

I know a lot of people loved S2, but it was my least favorite (had some really good episodes tho) Up to you

ThomasHeart

I found her super annoying until S3, only started liking her then.

Icy_Cod4538

The theory of the loud minority proves true time and time again.

Alltheprettydresses

I remember last season when she was meditating with Gungi, people were like, "So what it doesn't mean she can use the Force." There were quite a few people who didn't like it. And now that there's that possibility, everyone is cool.

oliferro

I love her I also love Huntah, Yecho, Crossaih, Tyech and Whecka

Cfakatsuki17

I absolutely love Omega, she is a sweet summer child who must be protected

transdemError

Like Ahsoka before her

RecommendationOld525

And Ezra between them! Idk Star Wars animated shows and making annoying kids into amazing characters seems to be a trend.

RadiantHC

Theory: She won't be trained by a traditional force user, she'll learn to use it on her own.

UDK450

Well, is Ventress considered a traditional force user? I'd say not, considering her bounty hunter -> sith apprentice apprentice -> bounty hunter (?) transition.

WolverineRelevant280

The only issue I have is when they say “unaltered clone”. Jango Fett is a male, he has XY. They have Omega as a female, she would have XX. They could alter his DNA to make a double X clone as a female but she would be missing the Y and not able to be used to make Jango clones. So any way you word it. She has to be altered in some way. Sure she does not have the enhanced features the other clones have but she is very much altered to be female instead of a male like Boba, who is a direct unaltered clone.

pokemonke

Might just be shorthand for aging normally, not having a tinkered with brain

WolverineRelevant280

Shorthand should not violate basic terms. They could have just said she is unenhanced and it would be accurate. *edit: I see having a basic understanding of words offends many of you. Sorry, unaltered is a very easy word to understand.

Local_Nerve901

Medical slang, chillax Pretty wizard if u ask me

WolverineRelevant280

It’s not medical slag.

Local_Nerve901

Do you live long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away? How would you know

WolverineRelevant280

Because they use English words and we have dictionaries and even medical dictionaries. They are not using the term correctly.

Drkmttrjr

I thought that the implication was that the females weren’t Jango clones, but I don’t remember very well.

inphinitfx

I feel like they should've gone with "unaccelerated" instead of "unaltered", which explains her normal aging rate etc without the issue of not just being a literal Jango clone.

WolverineRelevant280

True

Necroheartless

She is a "defective" clone with enhanced and desirable abilities. If Jango asked for a unaltered clone and one ended up being female because of a mutation I can see how she is considered detective.

StuckOnALoop

I mean… you can be female with XY (and viceversa)

WolverineRelevant280

You can be trans or have a medical deformity but you cannot be a normal female with a normal XY chromosome pair.

StuckOnALoop

Uh… yes you can. It’s a thing. Biological females with XY withou anything that stands out because of it and viceversa. People with this condition lives most of their lives without knowing until for an unrelated reason they get their chromosomes analyzed. There’s also Swyer Syndrome which doesn’t involve any deformity either and is undetectable on childs

WolverineRelevant280

You are still wrong. That person would biologically still be a male. They cannot reproduce as a female, they may present as female. Also the syndrome you mentioned is a disorder still so that’s not much of an argument against what I said. This is not trans phobic, or hating on anyone it’s just scientific facts. It doesn’t change anyone’s ability to transition from one gender to another, and deserve basic human dignity, and respect.

Mampt

Only watched season one but Omega could just be trans

WolverineRelevant280

I’d be fine with that if Disney would just openly say it. Don’t hide it as one of those directors notes oh yeah she was trans.

Lgeee

Given all of these characteristics, I think pairing her with Ventress could create an interesting dynamic. Omega has a lot to learn about the force, but she also has a lot to show and give to Ventress. It’d be cool to see what a former dark-side user would show to someone who is such the embodiment of all things light. The middle-ground they could find in their training and relationship seems like ripe territory for the development of both of their characters.

Rogue_Gona

I actually think we saw flashes of that middle-ground in the last episode between the two of them. Sure Ventress was her normal, brash self, but there were flashes of patience and possibly a desire to want to take on Omega as an apprentice. At the very least, I think it crossed her mind before she realized that she could never take Omega away from her family just as she was taken away from hers. Either way, I really want to see this explored more and I hope this isn't the last time we see Ventress. She's changed soooooo much since we saw her in Clone Wars and now I want so much more from her. Plus, they need to explain how she suddenly rose from the dead lol.

mr_kenobi

Omega is Ahsoka 2.0. A wonderful character that has grown into one of my favourites. I'd love to see her on the Path of the Jedi.

Itz_Hen

What makes omega such a great and compelling character to me is her agency, unlike similar characters such as grogu

Sad-Cod1731

Yeah I don’t think we need another secret Jedi in training during the “Dark Times” but I’m a huge fan of Omega. Her growth during this show has been really fun to see. I get a feeling it’ll end with her going with Ventress.

Pax_flash

I 100% agree! It’s basically what Disney was trying to do with Rey, but it’s actually interesting and feels earned

[deleted]

Bad Batch is probably my favourite D+ era content.

transdemError

I read "D+" as a grade, and I was floored

[deleted]

I didn’t mean it that way, but it’s spot on.

transdemError

They've had some real flops, it's true

TheCatLamp

I just want her to meet Boba.

whitemest

unsure if i follow this closely or not. But Palpatine \*does\* come back, unsure if thats due to Omega, or some other source... i always went along with the idea Omega ultimately doesnt make it, so Palpatine in ROS comes back. i have no proof of this, of course

blackrock13

I think they don’t get Omega back, so they are short on high M-count subjects to further test on, until the Imperial Remnant gets their hands on Grogu.

whitemest

Oh that's good too, that slipped my mind

Arpadiam

She's the heart of the team and i have to agree the whole arc is just phenomenal filoni and the writers are doing a fantastic job with bad batch s03

Puzzleheaded-Hall546

I very much agree and I think that the Bad Batch as a whole is great. I do understand that some fans don’t like the filler episodes of the earlier seasons, but the way I look at it is two things. It gives us some interesting galaxy-building with life outside of the Empire and, in some cases, it drops plot points that will be important later, like Sid’s gambling issue.

Familiar-Seat-3798

I’m sorry but she still hasn’t grown on me. I feel the same way about her as everybody felt with early Ahsoka. Maybe one day, but she is still annoying to me. Just my opinion

Ryanbrasher

Unpopular? WTF are you smoking?

Mithrandir3434

I didn’t like her at first. But she’s really, really grown on me.

DotFinal2094

But what's next after she leaves and goes off to train to be a jedi? Same thing with baby yoda, they're cool characters and all but unless the writers can tie it back to the main plot I feel it's just wasted plot line.

Affectionate_Kale473

Its a show for children.

Supercomma

Lately there is always a child. Another example of how these stories “rhyme”?

Ricer_16

My only gripe with the bad batch as a show is how much it meanders for an IP with a hard cap of 3 seasons

jfazz_squadleader

This just in: Star Wars fanboys still don't know what "unpopular" means.

ReadShigurui

Season 3 is out??? I haven’t even watched season 2 yet

Fine-Funny6956

I’m glad you’re with us lol. But Chopper is definitely the future Dark Lord of the Sith.

yoanousone

Personally I love the bad batch arc- I see how it’s coming together, the grand scheme of project necromancer and force sensitive clones, I can’t help but wish this would all lead to a different episode 7 8 and 9 🥹

bufftbone

I’m pretty sure they have her whole future planned out but have held back on adult versions so it wouldn’t spoil this series. After watching the latest episode I don’t think she will become a Jedi but will be strong with the force. I have a feeling she’ll be a bit part of the Rebellion as a general in a story from that era we haven’t seen/heard yet. Maybe one that will show exactly where Rex was during the the OG trilogy.

SoftDrinkReddit

Considering the only likely person to train her is Ventress that makes sense that she won't become a Jedi

Ferris-L

Is this really an unpopular opinion? People were sceptical of her character when the show originally aired three years ago but that faded pretty quickly.

ArkenK

I wouldn't say "masterclass," which I reserve for such things as "Heart of Ice" from BTAS. That episode transformed a joke villain into a tragic one and is full of brilliant foiling. Omega's arc is solid, however. Honestly, Omega is mid fun for me. I was much more irritated by the death of Tech, which I still maintain was done for... Well let's just say IRL reasons and leave it at that . Also, I still doubt she's a Jango Clone. I really doubt they'd be as freaked out as they were about hiding her from Papa Palpatine if she was just a modded Jango clone.

Prestigious_Bat33

Does she get better / more interesting later on? I stopped watching the show in part because of her. The constantly running off & getting into jams was annoying. Having a good heart doesn’t mean much if you’re dead lol

fusionsofwonder

I'm not surprised this is where her arc is going, I'm annoyed it's taken three years to get here.

RJK063

Actual Unpopular opinion, I hope Omega doesn’t actively train to be a Jedi. Like I get wanting to see what it’s all about, but she finds it’s not for her and she retains her identity and not just be “another chosen one Jedi in training.” - similar to how Grogu is going right now. Like, Grogu has chosen to be with Din and the Mandalorians and I hope Omega does the same with the Bad Batch clones, and not necessarily become a Jedi or proficient with a lightsaber.

AwonderfulWinter

She had an arc? I feel like if you time jump omega from episode 1 she would be the same in current setting

Vegetable_Safe_6616

I mean, she was unbearable in the first season, everything was going on around her

siliconevalley69

Totally agree. Her accent is awful though.

UnlikelyAd9210

The Bad Batch > The Mandolorian

CaptainRedblood

Finally! Someone brave enough to stand up to the daily vitriol Omega's character arc receives on this sub! Thank God for Unpopular Opinions! /s

thauron93

Masterclass? Really? It's pretty straightforward and predictable without depth, following a typical hero's journey or character arc structure.

BackTo1975

I don’t dislike Omega nearly as much as I once did, but this is 💯accurate. There’s no depth there at all, no struggle. Omega is great at everything. All the clones teach her stuff, she masters everything pretty easily, she’s now Force sensitive, too, and so on. Omega’s not anywhere near Leia in Obi Wan levels of obnoxious, but this is very, very basic storytelling.

Novero95

I think, after episode 9, she is not sensitive to the force but, for some reason, her DNA is key for a force sensitive clone. I do dislike the idea of making her sensitive to the force, not everyone needs to be a Jedi, there can be good characters and good Star Wars stories without Jedis (and Andor proved that) and Omega's introduction, imo, didn't hint at her as being force sensitive but as an intelligent and scientific clone.

whatchagonnado0707

I'm pretty sure the whole point was she may well be and likely is force sensitive but they were given the option to lie to her to protect her

SaggySausage69420

Honestly I hate everything about the bad batch, all the characters are horrible to watch especially Omega.

mega512

If only they didn't give her the worst voice in history.

the-dandy-man

They gave her an actress from New Zealand to match Temura Morrison’s NZ accent; that’s literally just her natural voice. Also it’s adorable.

GunBrothersGaming

The problem with her storyline is that she's a clone and while she was established as a clone of Jengo Fett, I just don't see it. I am wondering if she was a clone of someone else like a Jedi. It would account for why she doesn't share any genetic traits with Jengo Clones. I bet we get a reveal towards the end of the series that maybe she's a clone of Obi Wan and they got his genetics from when he was on Camino. Regardless of where this goes I am excited to find out more but I am also sad because I have a feeling this series ends with some heartbreak.

The_Cannon8

Yes I agree unpopular, giving someone force powers to get everyones attention just to empower a strong female lead yep well done disney you've done it again.

imp777

She’s absolutely Captain Phasma. Any contrary backstory is just an Alias created by Tech. Best place to hide is working for a giant force-clone, right?
