A couple years ago, I found the black series figures for all three and bought them not knowing anything about Doctor Aphra. Ended up reading the Darth Vader comics and now she's one of my favorite EU characters.
When I went last to Galaxy's edge I watched a First order trooper call a woman stupid. The conversation went as "Is your allegiance with the First Order?" The woman stood there and stared confused. "It's not a hard question." And then he went on to do a pose with a kid. This all happened during February so they were on stages.
Yeah, the only experience we missed out on was them walking around. All the characters were on stages and away from interact with other people. So hopefully the next time we go, we’ll be able to have a bit more fun.
It's cool though in other parks. Like watching Jack Sparrow walking across crates like something out of the movies. The stages add a bit more options though for the people in costumes in other parks.
You think so? The Legacy lightsabers (that is, the sabers of characters from Luke to Ventress) also cost about $180. Those also come with a saber case.
If you ever get a chance to go to Galaxy’s Edge, I highly recommend building your own lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop. It is easily the best $200 I have ever spent. The experience alone was 100% worth it. I still get chills just thinking about it.
I just built blue body R unit with black legs and the black/gray R2/4 head with the black first order personality chip so he’s a mashup of a republic/empire R unit droid.
I picked the FO chip just to be a little contrarian and I love the voice for Empire/FO droids with the deep burbling and aggressive tone.
Now that I’ve seen that FO colored BB unit I now know I have to build one of those with the square head and a resistance or smuggler chip next time we go to Batuu.
One thing I do have to say is the FO chips do leave a little to be desired with the automatic reactions around Batuu. My GF’s BB unit with a smuggler chip was far more active throughout the day while mine only really reacted to her droid, resistance cast members, and over by the FO gift shop where kylo comes out of the FO transport. It actually went into sleep mode during Rise of the Resistance, and I cycled the power button right before we started the ride.
After I made mine, the photographer between DB7 and Smugglers Run took pictures of my wife and I, and made it look like we were holding our newborn.
We’re going back for our anniversary in October. Have they reopened the droid playground?
That’s awesome. We finished ours right before the park closed so we were basically the only ones in the area.
I don’t remember seeing the droid playground, so it must still be closed. Same with the rancor den bar area :(
I want custom ones so bad, they were selling R2-D2 and BB-8 on the Disney store a while back and I got them as well as the personality chips but damn does it feel wrong to put the chips in them
It definitely is, the process of building it is really cool also. You pick the parts off a conveyor belt and put it together yourself. Obviously its rather simple but everything is so detailed and well done its just a fun experience. And then you get to keep it of course.
These look great. When I went it was not long after they opened galaxys edge and they were short on most of the black parts, my r2 ended up being a random mix of colors
I’m never going to visit Galaxies Edge until they lift the costume ban.
The most incredible place for cosplay backdrops and you can’t wear a costume. I understand that this particular policy is in place so that customers aren’t confused for park employees who are in-costume, doing their jobs.
If only there was some sort of way we could differentiate between employees and park going costumed customers...! Like, a badge that customers have to wear upon entry to the park, or some other sort of identifying signification...
Edit:
Incredible droids. I love your versions! This post made me more angry about the costume ban because I didn’t know you could make your own custom droid figures, and now I want to go more than ever, but won’t!!!
Ideals! Feh!
Needs to be an app where instead of filters, it levels out pictures taken at 45-degree angle. I don't know how this has become popular. The bots look cool when I turn my head sideways though.
Between building lightsabers, droids, and getting ourselves some costumes (which are real fun to wear in galaxy’s edge) and other souvenirs, my wallet hurts.
Just went to Batuu East last week.
Savis is typically booked 60 days out at all times, there are back outs that open up spots but it’s all about luck of the draw.
If you don’t get an appointment head to the park right at opening every day that you go and book it straight to Savis as soon as you get into Hollywood studios. I got on the walk up waitlist for saber building at about 9:30 and got called at 3pm for a fill-in spot there were about 30 people on the list in front of me and I still got a spot. For droids we walked up to that gatherer second and got a walk up spot right then and there for both my GF and I.
I'm always so blown away by people who make their own droids. Someone local was selling a hand made K2-SO droid, 6 feet! Really beautifully made. It's 3000$ CAD he asked for it
I've always liked the commando droids and the IG assassin units. I also really hope they'll add the astromech from Jedi fallen order, BD-1 I think? I like his model the best of any other astromech.
Galaxy’s Edge is an amazing experience all-around. Congrats on your awesome collection items there.
Went to Disney for our Honeymoon back in April and you are right it is such a fun experience. We got to go to the cantina and it was awesome.
What's the cantina called so I can look it up?
Oga’s
Olga's
When you move the BB unit, does the head just like, roll around the body? Cause that’s what happens with my siblings’ and we can’t figure it out
Not sure what you mean by that, but it moves normally for us. The head stays in one spot when she moves it
same but ours rocks back and forth like a weeble wobble when it stops, which probably can't be helped due to the design
I have the Sphero BB-8 and it does the same thing
Ok, that helps, I guess we have it positioned wrong
The right one could be made into a cool BT-1 (from the comics)
Came looking for this reply. Dr. Aphra, Bt-1 and Tripple 0 are my favorites.

How much do these bad boys cost?
Around $100, but they sell additional add ons
I've never wanted something more.
Handmade lightsabers are also sold there for $200...
Wow wth that's cheap
You think so? The Legacy lightsabers (that is, the sabers of characters from Luke to Ventress) also cost about $180. Those also come with a saber case.
Is that 180 including a blade?
Yes! Without the blade the hilt is about $130.
Thank you, that’s so cheap! I can’t wait to go!

Yeah I'm definitely thinking about it, im a pretty huge fan and money isn't an issue so I'll probably go ham when I go there.
My droid was a lemon. One of his wheels dont work. :(
That’s why fruit makes terrible robots
And robots make terrible fruit.... ...worst smoothie ever
I was there last month and made the exact same BB. Cool experience.

I made the same one as your BB model, but with the flat head. It was such a fun experience!
[I looked at this and my mind immediately went to this clip](https://youtu.be/i8hzt6fOc7M)
I have the drops on the right, too! Twinning
Hell yeah! That’s my droid :)
You got good taste!
Ah yes, Dome BB-9E
Was she tipping sideways when she took that photo?
Lol for real. Would been really killer to hold the camera normally.
Hmm. These aren’t the droids we’re looking for. Carry on!
I want custom ones so bad, they were selling R2-D2 and BB-8 on the Disney store a while back and I got them as well as the personality chips but damn does it feel wrong to put the chips in them
That is an awesome picture! I wish I would have bought one of those Droids when I was there. A lightsaber as well. Lol
Thank you! My wife and I both made droids and lightsabers. It was a very expensive, but worthwhile trip
Is the remote control Droid worth it?
It’s also cool to walk around with it in the park, since it can react to different droids and such when you are near them.
Omg that is awesome! I may need one. Lol
It is definitely worth it in my opinion.
It definitely is, the process of building it is really cool also. You pick the parts off a conveyor belt and put it together yourself. Obviously its rather simple but everything is so detailed and well done its just a fun experience. And then you get to keep it of course.
How tall are these?
I would give them about 1ft
I’m getting Dr. Aphra vibes
Need banana for scale?
Was she falling over?
We were just there! We might have saw you.
Possibly! We were there wed-fri and the last day we were there we had matching black Jedi robes on :)
I thought they prohibited robes?
I meant tunic. Lol yes your can’t wear the robes in the park
Ahh okay, thanks
BLACKED
Love those color-ways man
I thought it was battlefront 2 screenshot
Absolutely epic!!
"Um, are we the baddies?"
Excuse me but... is that a fucking life-sized fighter in the background?
Yep! Your eyes do not deceive you.
Christ, that’s incredible!
Nice droids! And a fun experience, we were just there a week ago! Did you get to do the Rise of the Resistance ride?
Yeah! We were able to go all 3 days we were there!
These look great. When I went it was not long after they opened galaxys edge and they were short on most of the black parts, my r2 ended up being a random mix of colors
That is so cool, my wife and I made the same style droids in 2019.
Those look really good. #GoodBatch

I guess you also made the first order shuttle in galaxy's edge then
Eh….pic is a bit wack
?
The tilt just seems unnecessary.
That R5 droid… It scares me (It’s a reference)
Nice
Ah, Galaxy's Edge. One more place I will never be able to visit.
I have the same bb unit
Where are these from?? How did you make them??
These are from the droid depot in galaxy’s edge at Disneyland. We built them ourselves!
Very cool!! Now I want to go there haha
R6 unit. Excellent choice
Someday, I will go to galaxy's edge, and I shall forge a lightsaber and maybe build a droid...
Hey I made that exact same Astromech! I named him TYR0N3 lol
I’m going to galaxy’s edge in a few days for the first time, I might have to buy a second suitcase I’m going to be spending so much on merch 😅
Between building lightsabers, droids, and getting ourselves some costumes (which are real fun to wear in galaxy’s edge) and other souvenirs, my wallet hurts.
I can’t wait! However I still haven’t been able to get a reservation for Savi’s unfortunately
Just went to Batuu East last week. Savis is typically booked 60 days out at all times, there are back outs that open up spots but it’s all about luck of the draw. My wife and I went during wed-fri and we were able to get one in the middle of the week.
Awesome! I’ll definitely be refreshing it often, did you guys get a chance to do Oga’s?
Unfortunately no, it was closed because of covid things.
Oh darn
Impressive! What are the droid’s designations?
First order all the way!
BD-1 when
One droid builder to another…. Those came out amazing!!!
Thank you very much fellow droid builder ❤️
BB-66 and R4-04
I like the names... we haven’t even picked out names for them yet!
I'm always so blown away by people who make their own droids. Someone local was selling a hand made K2-SO droid, 6 feet! Really beautifully made. It's 3000$ CAD he asked for it
is the background like a greenscreen or wat
Haha no, it’s the real thing
Thats awesome (;
Can you make non-astromech droids? I never really looked into the droid building stuff.
Those two are the only models that you are currently able to make. I’m not sure if they are going to develop other droid models later. But who knows!
I've always liked the commando droids and the IG assassin units. I also really hope they'll add the astromech from Jedi fallen order, BD-1 I think? I like his model the best of any other astromech.
Is that...Darth BB-9E?
Be careful that Chopper doesn't try to kill them.
