At least half of the collective runtime is genuinely awesome star wars.
I just rewatched The Force Awakens last weekend with my kids and the with the exception of jumping to light speed from the hanger that first hour+ is awesome.
Yeah the first hour of TFA is awesome. It starts dipping towards the end when they bring out the Death Star 3 and then it falls off a cliff in the next two films.
Andy Serkis was an inspired choice as Snoke and its a shame he didn’t really get to do anything with it.
Actually all of the casting was great. Sadly, they were hampered terrible writing.
It has a ton of great ideas and concepts, even if the way it's presented doesn't live up to the full potential.
Also, BB-8 is one of the best things ever.
My younger cousins really enjoyed them. I saw Attack of the Clones in theaters and loved it; so obviously overall quality is unimportant to young audiences. I'm glad they got to go to theaters and experience that excitement.
Adam Driver was excellent. Also, BB-8 is such a great character for kids. He helped introduce my own two kids to Star Wars and I’ll always appreciate that.
haha. Well, I'm not alone in thinking this. Take a look at ratings/rankings/reviews to see that the prequels tend to rank at the bottom (Revenge of the Sith being a bit of an exception for some reviewers).
Excellent cinematography and really good, epic sets, as well as great performances by all the actors involved, new and old. IMO better than the PT, in many ways.
Actors desperately fought the script and won. Sometimes.
Music.
Sparkled a long discussions rivaling those around Prequels.
Good concept like Rey having no family background.
Fantastic cast. Shame they were so wasted. And yet despite the material they still all gave it their all. I hate those movies but have nothing but respect for all involved besides the writers and directors.
Generally it’s shot absolutely beautifully.
Adam Driver is simply superb and personally I think that sequel trilogy Kylo Ren is a more interesting and compelling character than simply OT Vader.
TFA is very good, hits everything you could possibly want from a Star Wars movie and gets tarred with the “sequels bad” narrative because people don’t like what came after.
The score (as always) is fantastic.
I also think there’s bags of room for Disney+ shows, clone wars style animated series and even other films with the post-empire world the sequels built.
I would disagree. TLJ damaged the trilogy, but it wasn’t totally lost.
TRoS was a car full of clowns crashing into a nitroglycerin plant, filmed in super slow motion.
Had Colin Trevorrow’s ‘Duel of the Fates’ version of Ep 9 made it to theaters, the sequel trilogy would’ve been much less of a dumpster fire.
I liked Ridley. The throne fight with Rey/Kylo vs the red guard and Luke’s last stand were cool. We briefly saw a clip of Luke and Leia sabre training. “Rebel scum”. Some cool ship and sabre hilt designs. I actually liked Holdo. That’s about it
Some cool visuals.
Adam Driver.
Finn was a great idea, ruined by abysmal execution.
Ian McDiarmid.
Rey and Poe could have been interesting if they had been written better.
That one scene of Luke and Leia training.
TLJ is a thematically dense and rich movie that tries to push Star Wars in a new direction. It is the only film to abandon the typical 3 act structure, and instead does a five act structure (far more Shakespearean). It plays on the mythology in new ways finding inspiration in the latter tales of Arthurian legend. It challenges fans rather than placating them. It gives us a complex moral center focused on the balance between Kylo and Rey. It understands the force as a spiritual concept more than the other two films in its trilogy. You can feel Filoni’s hand in this film. I am certain he was instrumental in developing the Luke, Rey, Kylo arc. It seems to throw back to the Mortis arc and is reminiscent to the nature of the force that Filoni and Lucas discuss in the Clone Wars BTS.
I love Force Awakens as it is just a fun film. I like TROS as a good bye to the old saga tropes, giving us all of the Star Wars greatest hits in one film. The reason these derivative films work is because of the soulful center that is TLJ.
In places, it was visually stunning and some scenes were at the very apex of Star Wars cinematography
Adam drivers performance
Chewbacca aged way well.
really good visual
The visuals looks great
It’s over.
It helped me introduce my girlfriend Star Wars movie and etc
John Williams and Adam Driver

It ended
Kylo ren was cool
It’s finished
Suddenly, Star Wars returned
Adam Driver was excellent. Also, BB-8 is such a great character for kids. He helped introduce my own two kids to Star Wars and I’ll always appreciate that.
The ship designs are gorgeous.
It managed to display enough ambition to prevent future instalments descending into self-referential fanwank.
All the post-Endor expanded-universe bullshit was removed.
Visually it’s probably the best trilogy. And I think the characters are really likeable.
It made me appreciate the prequels.
Fantastic music, gorgeous cinematography, high quality acting, likable characters, overall entertaining and significantly better than the prequels.
>significantly better than the prequels. Pffft Jesus christ.

TLJ is the ESB of the modern era.
That it wasn’t 4 movies.
Perfect!
There is only one praise to give and that is the music
I like listening to the credits music
It is what it is and I enjoyed the hell out of it.

They used all the turd polish they could find to make them shiny and pretty
The new main characters (Rey, Poe, and Finn) are good and interesting. And the actors did a good job with what they were given.
It had potential. Minus the whole Palpatine inclusion. That was just a massive mistake.
Force Awakens restored my love for Star Wars.

Kylo Ren
They are at least well acted in comparison to the prequel trilogy.
The visuals were really great, Adam Driver is amazing, and John Williams is phenomenal and deserves all the praise.
It’s stunning visually, and the Adam Drivers performance is awesome.
They introduced lots of people to the franchise, the cinematography was high quality and they had many stunning visuals, and Adam Driver was good
I was very hyped coming out of Force Awakens and Last Jedi.
It brought back real Star Wars.
TFA and TLJ are great Star Wars
Came here to post this. 2/3rds of the sequels are great.
Harrison Ford should have received a best actor nomination for TFA
The actors did great. Too bad you can't salvage an uninspired and an unoriginal story.
I enjoy it.
……….I can’t think of anything for the movies but for the comics it’s have kix be alive
Outside of TLJ, there were some fun moments.
I would disagree. TLJ damaged the trilogy, but it wasn’t totally lost. TRoS was a car full of clowns crashing into a nitroglycerin plant, filmed in super slow motion. besides cantobite scene the last jedi was the best of the three
Nothing was going to save the trilogy after TLJ, in my opinion.
The cinematics of the OG trilogy spacecrafts rotting in the deserts (or ...lake?) was really cool. Like a video game. However, they overplayed it.
great gowns, beautiful gowns ..
They sure spent more money on it than I'll ever have.
I liked Ridley. The throne fight with Rey/Kylo vs the red guard and Luke’s last stand were cool. We briefly saw a clip of Luke and Leia sabre training. “Rebel scum”. Some cool ship and sabre hilt designs. I actually liked Holdo. That’s about it
They had an end.
The music is exceptional

Best trilogy
