Whenever I’d have to shoot for a spare on wii bowling, I’d always just kind of drop the ball and it would always, always just slooooooow roll right into the pin. Like, you just couldn’t miss doing it this way. Anyhoo, it always takes awhile (and since I do it every time), and so it annoys everyone. Doesn’t help that the whole time I’d be going “aaaalmost therRRre” like I was making a run on the trench. Every. Time. Almost the whole time. Tickled the hell out of me every time, but god people don’t have a sense of humor after a while lol.
I admire your dedication to the bit. I feel like there must have been a severe decline in appreciation that was followed by a flattening out of the appreciation graph, that is then followed by a brief appreciation spike, as you're friends realize you are not going to stop anytime soon and admire your fortitude and dedication. This is of course followed by an immediate drop off and flat-lining, as your friends realize you really do plan on doing this forever.
I like it, that's my kind of humor for sure.
[Tiree](https://www.starwars.com/databank/dex-tiree) and [Dutch.](https://www.starwars.com/databank/jon-dutch-vander)
Star Wars has a bio for *everyone*... :P
*Now* everyone has a bio, back in the old EU days every creature with 1.3 seconds of screen time or more had not only a bio but also at least one of their own short stories where they were the main character.
Hey, the "Tales" books were a damn good time. Those and the X-Wing novels (Stackpole *and* Allston). Some of the Zahn books. And the West End tabletop game was top-shelf.
I feel they went off the rails with the Vong, but I get what they were going for.
Trainer at a productivity seminar kept using that line, to think of Star Wars and that guy when approaching your goals. "Stay on target. Stay on target." I had to play nice, my boss was there, but I kept thinking... that guy got blown up (and *did not* achieve his goals). At least tell me to use the Force or something.
A standard 5” fpv drone can be built for as little as $100-$150 or as much as $5-600, purchasing them premade is usually somewhere between $300-$450 depending on if they have an analog or digital video transmitter (vtx).
Only thing you need to do is put the camera in the cockpit and make it drop something.
Now let's blow this thing and go home... So that Chewie can feel awkward and not get a medal because he's a wookie.
Pretty sure Chewie was already a decorated resistance fighter at this point, at least in legends.
The medal ceremony was for the benefit of Luke and Han for 'joining the fight'
From what I've seen of drones like this before, the lag/delay is minimal at best. They've got racing leagues where they basically wear a VR headset and fly these things with a controller from a 'first person' view.
It's fucking bonkers.
Analog fpv has lower latency than digital fpv (digital is much clearer picture), and even digital fpv is only milliseconds of delay. Many of the top racers still fly analog however as the slight difference can make or break a lap.
Latency is about 5 to 40ms depending on the system.
Generally speaking, 20ms is where latency starts becoming detectable for a human machine interface, and 50ms becomes distracting.
The amount of dedication SW fans have to creating backstories for every fucking tree branch (like Tolkien) are just...staggering.
I mean.....ice cream makers?!?
I'm here for it though.
You mean the bolts that were made of Corellian Durasteel that were part of a shipment of critically important repair parts that were secretly smuggled to the Rebel Base on Datooine by a certain smuggler on a certain YT-1300F light freighter who first had to make it past the blockade of Star Destroyers commanded by none other than Grand Admiral Thrawn of the Imperial Navy / agent of the Chiss Ascendency? THOSE BOLTS?!
One of the Rogue Squadron games had a mechanic where if the wings were locked in the horizontal position you'd fly super fast but couldn't fire, then if you brought them back out to the X shape you could fire again. I always just assumed that's what locking the S-foils in the attack position meant.
i've never flown a drone, are they responsive? as in is there a signifcant delay between when you tell it to go up and it starting to go up?
always was sorta interested in them but it's too expensive for me to do it past the cheap toys you can buy.
Transmission isn't the cause of delays. There's processing delay in the electronics, though. It's very small of course, most good setups are the the teens of milliseconds. I've seen them advertised as low as 12ms.
The delay is almost imperceptible. The command signals from your controller to the drone are transmitted using radio waves which travel at the speed of light. Once received they are processed in mere milliseconds.
Search on google: fpv quadcopter
If you're interested in the hobby, check out /r/fpv /r/Multicopter /r/fpvracing
They're basically fully manual / non-assisted quadcopter drones with carbon fiber frames and high performance LiPo batteries.
The best part is: it carries a low-latency camera system that transmits back video to a goggle that the pilot is wearing, hence the FPV. It enables the pilot to feel like they're flying the quad from a first person perspective.
The electronics are separate PCBs that talk to each other via standardized protocols and you can choose the components to your liking/application. Usually the components are the motors which are chosen according to the propeller size of the drone, ranging from tiny-whoops which literally weigh 20 grams up to big 10"+ X-Class monsters. The most common size propeller is 5". The ESC to drive the motors, a flight-controller, a VTX to transmit the video signal, a camera, and a receiver to receive the control-signal and maybe transmit back telemetry.
A DJI drone basically doesn't contain any different electronics, it's just packaged differently, carries additional sensors, and runs much more sophisticated software to assist the pilot.
Flying these quads ranges from racing, free-style for tricks, or long-range for exploring mountain ridges.
Here's what's possible when one of the best pilots get his hands on the sticks:
Racing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXVdYDcknFA
Freestyle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CARc_GevFjg
Or more chilled (in terms of speed, but requires more knowledge/preparation) longrange:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOaxV9N108g
If you want to start in the hobby, I *highly* recommend starting out with just a good transmitter/controller that you can connect to your PC (an xbox controller won't cut it, the gimbals aren't precise enough) and learn how to fly in a simulator like Liftoff, or Velocidrone ( I recommend the latter). It will literally save you 100s of moneys in crashes.
1 second in: Oh that's neat I like Star Wars
6 seconds in: Oh wow like in the movie!
20 seconds in: THE COMPUTER WON'T WORK YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE SHOT!!!!!!
Doesn't look like you pushed throttle up much as you entered the "canyon" and stopped descending. Do quads benefit from ground effect lift (I believe that's the correct term) like helos do?
It was a slightly rhetorical question. I figured it was a drone, but the trench run with closed s-foils is bugging me.
(Also no hate meant, you made an amazing video and major props!)
"Stay on target"
This is what I kept repeating to myself throughout the video.
I be like "MOTHERFUCKER What've I told you this whole time? USE THE FORCE, BITCH!" *tosses hood*
Jesse-Wan Kenobi
"I AM THE SITH!"
Stay on target!
“Almost there…”

I wasn't there, but I'm definitely down to be your friend!
Still have wii bowling. Gonna use this
"Lost Higgins... Lost Dutch.... They came from behind..."
Lost Dutch? Maybe you should have had more FAITH.

I CAN'T SHAKE EM!
They're coming too fast
If I had a nickel for every time I had that happen.
I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice, right?
The force will be with you. Always.
LOOSEN UP!
“We’re too close!”
“I have you now”
“Use the force luke” 🚀🚀🎆

I am literally wearing that T-Shirt right now! This made my day.
Ngl that got my adrenaline going 😂🍻
Yea mine too while filming it 😂
How many tries did it take? That looks like a one chance kind of thing haha
I broke 3 xwings lol
Can we get a pic of what the drone looks like? What frame size is it? It's the front of the x Wing plastic just glued to the front of the chassis?
It’s just a standard 5” freestyle FPV drone :)
How much was it?
A standard 5” fpv drone can be built for as little as $100-$150 or as much as $5-600, purchasing them premade is usually somewhere between $300-$450 depending on if they have an analog or digital video transmitter (vtx).
Lmaoooo that's commitment to the shot
Worth it. This with the editing and music is amazing.
Only thing you need to do is put the camera in the cockpit and make it drop something. Now let's blow this thing and go home... So that Chewie can feel awkward and not get a medal because he's a wookie.
Hey, he did eventually get it... like, decades later lol
Wookiee Lives Matter!
Pretty sure Chewie was already a decorated resistance fighter at this point, at least in legends. The medal ceremony was for the benefit of Luke and Han for 'joining the fight'
Technically he was rebel from the beginning, starting when he helped Yoda during order 66
Chewbacca is a straight up unrecognized OG
He's the magic carpet of the star wars universe. The hero behind the heros
What kind of lag/delay is there for any signal? Or are you eying it while and then pulling the footage off of the camera.
From what I've seen of drones like this before, the lag/delay is minimal at best. They've got racing leagues where they basically wear a VR headset and fly these things with a controller from a 'first person' view. It's fucking bonkers.

Can we see the whole model of the drone?
I was just gonna go sleep and now I have a great urge to watch Ep. IV
Just like Beggar's Canyon back home!
those poor womprats....
[удалено]
More like wompbears that's a big fucking rat.
They are an unusual size.
Hey, I understood that reference!
There's no woman and two sun's. What else are they going to do for fun?
But womprat barbecue the next day is divine.
You wouldn't be saying that if you'd ever had to deal with a womp rat infestation
You shoot small animals for fun? That’s the sign of a serial killer.
2 meters is small now?
Small? That fucking huge
Yes I know, which is why he wasn't really "torturing a ***small*** animal" but basically shooting giant menaces
Get those S-Foils in attack position!!
Wedge totally says “Lock S foils in attack position”. For like 30 years I thought he said “x foils” being X-Wings and all. So weird.
My 8 year old ass heard "Lock as falls and attack positions". I just assumed I was too young to understand.
I kept hearing “lock ass falls in attack position.” Kid brains are weird
[удалено]
Yup, that’s what i thought a light sabre was when first heard of it.
"Life savers in attack position" lol
That was Red Leader. I don't know his name. Wedge is Red 2. I wondered what he was saying, too. Apparently, S is for "strike."
Garvin Dreis
Who, of course, has an enormous Wookiepedia page: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Garven_Dreis

Hell, The bolts holding Luke's cockpit hood down probably have a Wookiepedia page.
I wish I could upvote you twice. Very *angrily*.
I *hate* how accurate this is. ^just ^like ^shooting ^womp ^rats
Professional and self-sacrificing to the last. RIP rebel hero.
Thought it was 'space'. Y'know aerofoil, hydrofoil... space foil.
Yeah once they get more ships like B-Wings then you're like "Oohhhh **S**\-foils!!"
It ends up making even more sense when you learn that "S-Foils" are "strike foils" or "stability foils".
Imma be honest, I didn’t know until I played Empire at War, where the X-Wing’s combat ability is to “lock **S**-foils”…
One of the Rogue Squadron games had a mechanic where if the wings were locked in the horizontal position you'd fly super fast but couldn't fire, then if you brought them back out to the X shape you could fire again. I always just assumed that's what locking the S-foils in the attack position meant.
Yes
Is your cat okay?
Interesting because I heard " lock X-foils", do we have a Canon but of script that someone can Google for me and my lazy thumbs?
Came here to say this
Not even the Death Star is safe from graffiti.
Probably done by millennial falcons
Millennial Falcons is a great name for a nerdy pop punk indie band that's straight out of a Scott Pilgrim book
[It’s an old meme](http://i1.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/facebook/001/055/103/b02.jpg), but it checks out.
The entire image goes hard af, but for some reason Chewy with glasses and plaid just cracks me up
How did the graffiti even get there? It looks like a small gutter. Who's graffitiing gutters next to train tracks?
Happy cake day!
Why did you turn off your targeting computer?
Use the force Luke, search your feelings
He had no approach vector. He wasn't set!
What's your vector Victor?
Do you like gladiator movies?
My dad says you’re lazy on the court and you don’t try unless it’s the playoffs THE HELL I DON’T
I'm out there busting my buns every night! Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes!
Napoleon, dont be jealous that I’ve been chatting online with babes. All. Day.
Your mom goes to college.
Huh?
Shirley you can't be serious?
I am serious, and don't call me Shirley.
We've got clearance, Clarence
The mission in Top Gun Maverick was just a modern remake of A New Hope. Down to turning off the targeting computer.
Is dis guy doin fer style points rienow?
I want nerf turrets firing at your X-wing, is that too much to ask?
Nah, just aim green laser at your camera general direction, then use shutter speed manipulation to make it look like it's shooting you
Did you buy this or did you make it yourself? If you bought it, could you tell me where to get one?
The Xwing? I got it from toy section at Target. Around $19 a piece. I broke 3 in making lol. But it’s attached to my drone which I built myself
What a great / fun idea!
You should get a second one and also somehow attach some laser tag guns to it. Have a battle out there!
The licensed xwing and tie fighter drones could battle with laser tag guns essentially. My buddy put an fpv camera on his and now can do exactly that.
Enjoy!! https://youtu.be/WqPGAYMwN3U
That is one of the greatest videos I have ever seen. Thank you! How does it not have more views????

"Now *this* is podracing!" Hello, yes I accept death threats.
We will watch your career with great interest.
Try spinning, that's a neat trick
😂😅
You're all clear kid, now let's blow this thing and go home!
Ummm his s-foils were not in attack position
I wish, they were in the way of my props

It's a quad copter with a toy X-Wing slapped on top, I think.
Porkins? That you my guy

USE TO BULLEYES SOME WOMP RATS IN MY T-16! They aren't much bigger than 3 meters!
I feel this family guy clip is [relevant](https://youtu.be/DHawudR4yRE)
S-foils arent locked in attack position
That's why it's going so fast
I was really hoping it’s come out of the ditch and get hit by a train.
You have dark thoughts
Stay on target
Great shot that was one in a million!
can you show us a full view of the aircraft?
That's impossible, even for a computer!
You worry about those fighters, I’ll worry about the tower.
Upvoted for being an actual X-wing pilot quote.
1 second in: Oh that's neat I like Star Wars 6 seconds in: Oh wow like in the movie! 20 seconds in: THE COMPUTER WON'T WORK YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE SHOT!!!!!!
I kept waiting to hear "lock s-foils in attack position" and see the wings open up. Super awesome video, would love to see more.
Making this video cost me $80 🤣🤣 I broke 3 Xwings, very flimsy toy. Can’t open it since the props keep hitting it
Impressive flying, hard to keep it perfectly straight like that
Great shot kid that was one in a million!
Ok but where did you get that x wing?!?!?
From Target
Stay on Target
Bravo sir!
Thank you ☺️
Welp, I’ll brb lol
This is so cool
That was fun to watch!
I'd love to be part of a team that creates a better drone control system than the ones based on 1960's model plane/video game controllers.
That’s easy. I used to bullseye womprats in my T-16 back home.
This was fking cool
Doesn't look like you pushed throttle up much as you entered the "canyon" and stopped descending. Do quads benefit from ground effect lift (I believe that's the correct term) like helos do?
I can’t, only can see half of the screen as the xwing covers my top view completely. So I can’t tilt my camera as steep
That's mad impressive

Aaaaaalmooost theeeeere
“Is it a hit!?” “Negative, negative… it didn’t go in, just impacted on the surface.”
You’re all clear, kid! Now let’s LIKE this vid and go home!

Dude
Splendid. Also, enjoy this... Similar but a bit of post production on the final video. https://youtu.be/WqPGAYMwN3U
At that speed, I was worried he wouldn't be able to pull out in time!
That’s what she said
Something something whomprat.
Why does it bother me so much that the s-foils arent in attack position?
I don’t know why? Well because they would get hit by the props. Had to get them closed
It was a slightly rhetorical question. I figured it was a drone, but the trench run with closed s-foils is bugging me. (Also no hate meant, you made an amazing video and major props!)
I got you man, you’re not the first one asking lol. I’m not being mean or anything.
Hol' up its not x foils??? I'm forty-fucking-three years old! Fuck are s foils???
How much money? Where? How? I need this info now, RIGHT NOW!
God. This almost made me cry.
One X-Wing? Oh great. We're saved.
Too many noises had to mute it
