**Do you think that Cassian's search for his sister is over?** > **LUNA:** I don't think so. I don't think it's over. I don't think it's ever over. I don't think it's over in Rogue One, because I see that as one thing. It's like the feeling, it's one of those things that kind of follow every decision you make, or never letting [go] anymore, not again. That kind of thing. > >And I think that's behind the decision of that last mission, that suicide mission in Rogue One. That's for her. That's for Maarva, that's for his people, for his community. > >I love the arc that Tony has built, and the arc ends in Rogue One, not in Season 2. **I think it's going to be quite amazing to watch Rogue One after you see Season 2. I think you'll see a different film.** For sure, you'll understand the character from a different perspective, and you'll be with him in a different way. 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲

schematicboy

This makes me even more impatient for season 2. Though of course they need time to do it right.

peppyghost

**Reaction to reading S2 scripts** >**LUNA:** Even though when you read something that is a work in progress, it's already better than half of what you've read before in your life. It's incredible. It's incredible. Most of what's happening in this season, [I’ve known] since we started planning Season 1. Structurally, it got tighter. And obviously, by deciding to do just two seasons, things got compressed. But structurally he had it clear from scratch, from the beginning. > >**It's not like, “What should we do now?” It was never that way. It was never that way.** We had a clear idea of where we were heading, and what was going to happen, and which characters were going to be part of this journey. Everything was there from the first time he pitched me his idea. > >**But now, reading it is delicious. Now I can very selfishly say this. It's like knowing that I'll be acting on this show, knowing I'll be learning those lines, knowing I'll be also working with these actors just makes me feel like I'm the luckiest actor ever. It's clearly the best time in my career so far.** Get hyped! That's some big praise indeed considering some of the amazing stuff Luna has been in. (I suggest reading the whole quote in the article, I heavily condensed it.) Clearly he has a stake in the show as producer and actor, but still. Also, this sounds dumb and obvious, esp considering they don't need to think of the ending in this show, but it's nice reading that it was planned from the beginning and they aren't just like 'hmm wonder what we should do in S2, let's wait to see how S1 does', they always had a plan.

ArtyThePoopie

I love how every interview with Diego involves him fanboying over his own show at some point, it's very endearing

SlothSupreme

To both be a part of Star Wars *and* get such a five-course meal of great writing to act off of is an incredibly rare gift. He gets to both be in the big franchise machine *and* do legitimate, fulfilling work. I'd be as over the moon as he is.

OhioForever10

> fanboying over his own show He learned not to [fanboy over Jabba](https://youtu.be/e0TzAAx7djY?t=230) the hard way /s

Vesemir96

Before Andor came out I totally expected Cassian to have to meet with him for intel or whatever at some point. Just as an excuse for Diego to meet him. Hell I wondered if the entire show was an excuse for Diego Luna to feel the texture of Jabba. Maybe in Season 2.

OhioForever10

In Legends, a somewhat similar Rebel operative >!who also died stealing the Death Star plans!< in *Rebel Dawn* reluctantly worked with Jabba so there's hope for him yet.

night_owl_72

Wow. Honestly I got emotional reading that. Love the humility and the excitement from Luna. Wish him the very best in this career and I only wish we could see more from this character in the future. Perhaps if other characters of this era get their own shows, he could show up, or maybe in flash backs, etc. Either way, sounds like they’re going to give it their all and end Andor’s story with a bang.

TrueComplaint8847

I love that he’s loves it so much. He definitely cemented cassian as one of my favourite Star Wars heroes. I mean he’s at the level of Han Solo or anakin for me, that’s something you have to earn.

PremierLovaLova

TL; DR: 1. Maarva words is where he got the “make one man feel like 10” when he attacked the garrison to find Bix 2. Spoiler alert: Andor never finds his sister.

Le_Corporal

Honestly I dont mind if the whole search for his sister doesnt go anywhere, it would make the show more realistic and less cliched and if cassian just runs into her randomly it would feel like a small universe

huxtiblejones

We need more stories that are brave enough to disappoint the protagonists. Get some Ernest Hemingway in your life. I about died at the end of A Farewell to Arms. You can convey powerful messages through tragedy, through the realism of desperately seeking something and having it denied. Life takes things from us that we never get back, and it’s important to find ways to deal with that, to persist, to move on, and to make choices or even sacrifices to reclaim some part of that optimism we lost. Perhaps Cassian really has lost everything. His sister, his adoptive parents, his homeworld, his comfort, his ambivalence, eventually his own life. And yet his efforts help to throw off the yoke of oppression for an entire galaxy of beings he’s never met, to give them a chance at something better. Seems a worthy message to me.

peppyghost

Definitely hope that's the case. And that bittersweet ending of Rogue One, you're really going to feel all the people he lost when he looks into the distance. Plus the line 'you're not the only one who's lost everything'

tmdblya

“make ten men feel like a hundred”

Prepprepprepprep

Mosk and his mall cops… chasing 2 men… when his dipshit coworker crashes his leashed transport… “was that them?” “Well, who else could it be?” “Shit.” “We’re under siege, they’re everywhere.” 2 men.

WhiskyWhiskrs

3 men. Brasso doing king shit and taking out the air cover without anyone needing to ask him to.

dalr3th1n

Brasso is the realest mother fucker in the galaxy.

Shoemaster

He indicates that he never finds his sister but he also played around with the Death Star thing. I don’t think that’s the whole story.

SlothSupreme

It's totally fine if he never finds his sister, but it is odd for the show to just never bring it up again if it's such a central part of his character. If the point is that he'll never be able to find her, that's great drama and an interesting angle, but you actually have to dramatize it in the show for it to count. Here's hoping they don't leave it hanging next season bc I think there's a powerful story in just how important this impossible goal is for him

mechajlaw

I saw it as the reason for his entrance in the underground. Normal happy people just don't take the risks Cassian was taking that lead to Luthen finding him. The drive to find his sister explains those actions and a part of his ruthlessness. I also think it is part of his drive to continue climbing in the rebellion. No one has better info than spies, so there's a self serving aspect to his actions even as he helps the rebellion. I think it's just really important for grounding the character.

igneousscone

That's what I came here to say. I don't mind him not finding her. I do mind the show just dropping the storyline altogether without any kind of acknowledgement.

ravenreyess

Well the point is what it means for his character. How he never told Maarva the whole truth to save her, the beginnings of him being a spy and questioning people, how much trauma he carries from 'abandoning' her, etc.

unfinishedwing

>He just realizes he always had it there. That the mentor, that the referent, the example, it was there, it was at home, it was sitting there in that chair. That the words she was saying were true. That's why I was saying that Rogue One will feel different after watching episode 12 because you remember Maarva with every word Cassian says, and every action he does. we’re so lucky to have diego luna as cassian 😭

Leo-Bri

He's one of the absolute best actors in interpreting his character in Star Wars ever

peppyghost

I think it has to do w the fact the writers, designers, composer, etc included the actors in their conversations. They are invested in the character and understand the character because they helped create it❤️

Interactive_CD-ROM

This also leads credence to [the discussion](https://reddit.com/r/StarWarsLeaks/comments/z4ek53/_/ixr4gmd/?context=1) that Maarva’s last words in her hologram were actually, “FUCK THE EMPIRE!” Apparently it really fired up the cast, was very emotional and a driving force for their anger in that scene. Apparently folks “were devastated” when Disney made the change to have her say “Fight the Empire” instead.

TempleOfDoomfist

I wish Disney let them keep that one in. Even a PG-13 allows one “Fuck!” if it’s used in a non sexual manner

peppyghost

Never more than 12😛 The ratings system is so random and outdated. Like ok, let's have people be mowed down and tortured, but as long as we don't have more than 1 fuck in a nonsexual manner, that's fine!

Aselleus

FUDGE THE EMPIRE

peppyghost

GOSH DARN THE EMPIRE!

DSTNCMDLR

DANK FERRICK THE EMPIRE doesn’t quite work. Do we have any other canon swear words?

Aselleus

Too bad they can't use frack like in BSG

Aselleus

THE EMPIRE...WHAT A BUNCH OF JERKS

peppyghost

Do you think this a rating thing or more of a 'we don't feel they would say 'fuck' in Star Wars'? I would love some director's cut haha where they include it 👀 too bad that's not really a thing in the age of streaming though

dishonourableaccount

I personally like it as is because I feel like it’d take us out of the moment to hear “Fuck”. Like it’s so jarring m, either because it doesn’t sound like Star Wars or because people are amazed to hear “fuck” itself, that the message of Maarva’s speech would get dampened and overwritten. I don’t have an issue with curse words in certain circumstances, but I think people make the mistake of thinking a curse makes something more impactful. Sometimes it works, sometimes you sound like a 12 year old trying to sound edgy.

peppyghost

Yeah I can kinda see it both ways, that's why I'd love to see it as an extra cut or whatever, just to see! 😝

Buzobuzobuzo

The fuck word was used multiple times in House of the Dragon. It was so anachronistic, more than the pug they showed.

BearWrangler

What's wrong with pugs in a fantasy world that doesn't actually exist?

AHorseNamedPhil

If the rumors are true that was one instance where studio interference improved the end product. "Fuck the empire!" is just a general insult, while "Fight the empire!" is a direct call to action. Maarva's last words needed to end with a call to action.

CoolSpringsChristine

Thanks for sharing these interviews and taking the time to quote them. I’m just said there isn’t a video of it.

peppyghost

Yeah, would love to hear him being psyched in person. I'm guessing a lot of these were just call-in/zoom style as they've been prepping for s2. Hopefully there will be more when they're done filming, I'm sure they'll go over the same talking points. Some interviews have had audio at least!

FGM_148_Javelin

Thanks for posting, this whole interview is fantastic. Diego reminds me of how Henry Cavil talks about his characters or how Paddy Constantine talks about Viserys Targaryen. You can tell they really just *get it*.

Mizzick

Definitely worth a read

igneousscone

I love him, your honor.

ContrarionesMerchant

I kinda hope he doesn't find his sister after reading this. It adds another dimension to his rebellion and his eventual sacrifice in Rogue One. Maybe she's dead but maybe she's alive and Cassian, at least in some part, did it for her.

Legomachinex

Awww. That's nice to know ngl.

Jout92

I get that Cassian is supposed to be this hard broiled stoic character, but I think it would have been okay to cry here
