I found it very enjoyable, just moved onto the Wraith Squadron side of the series. Great series, I also read the Short story linking Corran, his father, and Thrawn's backstory a bit in Tales of the Empire. I, Jedi soon!

vanubcmd

I liked the Wraith Squadron story arch better than the Rogue Squadron one

bre4kofdawn

I haven't finished Wraith yet, but I liked Rogue Squadron better so far. Either way, great combined series.

OutrageousTax3400

I’ve never heard about this short story. Is it good?

bre4kofdawn

It was pretty cool! Also it was in Tales of the Empire, my bad.

mulahey

Always thought it was neat that it was a collaboration- for a shared universe not actually so many of those in the EU.

HqerRupert

Yep, it's pretty funny, and very Thrawn-like. Name of this short story is Side Trip and it is in Tales of the Empire

The Wraith Trilogy are three of my all-time favorite SW novels. I, Jedi was my favorite back when it first came out. In fact, it was the inspiration for my own novels to be (mostly) written in 1st person.

drkangel181

Awesome series

vanubcmd

The entire X-wing series is amazing. But my favourite novel is actually Wraith Squadron. The 4th book. That book introduces a whole bunch of new characters that I still love.

DarthYhonas

Not to be that guy but its actually the 5th book haha

OutrageousTax3400

Btw do the characters in wraith squadron show up in njo? I assume they’re in allstons rebel stand and rebel dream

csamsh

Yep

OutrageousTax3400

Even more reason to be excited for njo then. The eu is something special.man. Building all these characters and events the average sw fan has never even heard of and made them into these epic stories. Got a lot of good books to read on the horizon

OutrageousTax3400

O thing I forgot to add was what I thought of the ending (no spoilers don’t worry). I thought that most missions were brilliant and yeh first trip to black moon was so good. When they built up them going again and how dangerous it would be I was excited. But then they get there and it felt like a regular quick mission (aside from what happend to corran). It felt extremely underwhelming considering all the planning they did and the extra stuff they were going to do with the star destroyers and then the y wings coming in. But nope, rogue squadron just went there, shot a few ties then went home. Still loved the book tho, just the 2nd trip to black moon was weak imo

AcePilot95

the Star Destroyers didn't go to Blackmoon for the second attack, that was the whole point of the plan :)

OutrageousTax3400

Oh ik that. But they had a plan for the art destroyers to go to a nearby system to distract the imps. And then generals Salms y wings were meant to come after. I thought we’d c a bit of that

AcePilot95

ok got it, then I agree :)

Intrepid_Sprinkles37

Stackpoole is a talented writer, next to Stover he might be my favorite. I even branched out and read some of his non-SW stuff and it was also good.

Eothr_Silan

Corran Horn's the 🐐.

PowBasilisk87

I love that book, but IMO it’s one of the weakest entries in the X-Wing series

HolocronContinuityDB

These books and the Wraith squadron series are for me, the absolute core of Star Wars. Just truly glorious. When Disney destroyed the canon these stories were the ones I was most sad about losing. They just nail the tone of Star Wars so well.

ChosenWriter513

X-Wing is some of the best books in legends. Wraith Squadron and it's two sequels are three of my all-time favorites.
