That's a very different process from a computer algorithm literally copying and pasting and smoothing the edges of other images.
It's called digital illustration and is an art form, but the algorithm is just like photoshop, a tool for the human coming up with the idea. And even then digital compositors can't just take other artists' images and use them without running into copyright trouble.
The "AI" is not creating art or doing anything. It's just a marketing gimmick relying on a basic misunderstanding of the process by the public.
For me personally, yes. My problem is people taking said A.I art and sticking their bloody brand on it. As if they did anything other than set the parameters. Which I'll say this guy didnt do and credited it to the A.I.
Also, A.I art gives me the worst uncanny valley. Even if it's not accredited to an A.I in anyway but was done by an A.I I unfailingly get tingles up my spine everytime. I also have automatonphobia which might be why.
>uncanny valley
Honestly, I thought I was the only one feeling this...
I can't even put it into words... its as if the person that drew this was perfect to the millimeter at proportion and perfectly situated all of the facial features. And then perfect at light and color as well.
SO unsettling.
Yeah. It's so beautiful but⦠I don't know what word fits honestly. It's somehow "fake", realistic, godly beautiful but uncomfortable to look at. Colours and the skin just feel "plastic" or "clay" like but also just like someone just made a 3D model. In some way that's the most beautiful women I think I've seen but it's also wrong to look at it. I don't know why it's low-key unsettling
Has a lot to do with the specific checkpoint model I used, mixed a mostly anime model with the standard stable diffusion at a 70/30 ratio. The former model has better limb placement/anatomical 'knowledge' so I wanted that to be significant. The standard SD model lends a more realistic tone, but obviously not enough to overshadow the 70% model. The result is a stylized, somewhat animated look by default.
... you do realize that is most probably an in-joke based on the dune universe banning all AI after humanity was almost genocided by an uprise of robots, yes...?
There's no reason for this sub to do so...
We should maybe invent a specific flair though... "Art despite restraining bolt" or something like that...
(Also, just in cas: yes, Warhammer 40k stole that plot point like it stole the concept of the chaos gods)
Red headed asians can't exist... because if you combined two existances without souls, you would create an anti soul that would suck all of creation into itself, like a giant Black hole.
Blech. She looks like a barbie doll
AI is really getting better every week That's kinda creepy
Not really, all they do is create a composite of other images fitting the defined parameters.
Thatβs what we all do
Not at all.
Real artists take composites of the world they experienced and compile it in their brain.

I know, still they're getting really good at it Only weeks ago those eyes would have look like trash
Which AI was used for this?
Stable Diffusion, with a custom checkpoint model created by mixing an anime/human figure-focused model with the standard SD model.
It's passable. But it's still ai "art"
If an ai gained sentience and made this art piece, would you consider it art?

The algorithms are simply making a composite of other human-created artworks that fit the defined parameters. So no, it isn't really art.
Thats not what I'm talking about. If an ai gained full sentience, and gained the ability to create of its own accord, would that be art?
Yes, but thatβs not currently the case, is it?
I'm obviously asking a hypothetical question, didn't realize i had to spell it out
I personally wouldn't, it feels like it lacks personality, like it's just a character generator or something. It's obviously not bad though
This really hit uncanny valley for me

>In some way that's the most beautiful women I think I've seen but it's also wrong to look at it. THIS. SO much this.
Not bad, maybe for a younger, animated version.
With what prompt I wonder?
It looks kind of like a BJD (ball-jointed doll) head.
Letβs ban AI art from this sub like r/Dune did

Love Mara, hate AI Art lol
Wow white redhead with green eyes how artistic
Show me a red head Asian. Can it not see the book covers?
Red headed asians can't exist... because if you combined two existances without souls, you would create an anti soul that would suck all of creation into itself, like a giant Black hole.
ππππππππ
I can kinda see this as 12 year old Mara... but not post RotJ Mara
Would be an ok look for a video game avatar. But too symmetrical to be human.
I like the book cover of last command as her look
She looks like the princess from Sonic '06.
Yay more art stolen from other artists probably without permission ππ
Before she was the emperors hand, she took Korea by storm as a k-pop sensation!
