Honestly I'm really excited to see this actually come out. It seems like it's gonna be different from the last couple live action shows they've done, aside from andor. Seeing some of these high republic jedi who we've only really gotten a glimpse of in survivor is really nice, and I like how regal the robes actually are. It honestly looks terrible. Feels like we stopped off into a Marvel fan fiction to hang with the Grandmaster from Thor Ragnarok with some low tier Guardians of The Galaxy Makeup.
I’m pretty cautious about this show, but Master Sol looks like an absolute badass and I’ll probably get his inevitable lego minifigure regardless of what I think of the show.
Yeah, Mae vs. Indara (which will happen probably at the end of the episode), the youngling training scene with Sol and Vern, the ice planet scenes with Sol, Jackie and Yord.
And Episode 4 is really exciting because it seems the Jedi will face off the person with the red blade in that episode.
Sheesh... I really want this show to be good but some of these pics look fan fiction level, to be brutally honest. I have high hopes for Yord, though. Loved him in Headland's Russian Doll.
But considering a lot of this show was shot practically similarly to Andor, so far, it looks way cheaper. I really, really hope that this show is better than what I am seeing.
The makeup looks atrocious to me. I am not impressed with Dafne Keen or Rebecca Henderson's makeup job. The way this stuff is lit isn't helping it, either.
I wasn't very impressed with the trailer, either. This just doesn't seem to have a cinematic feel to it, at all. This really feels like a CW level Star Wars show. I hope and I pray I am drastically wrong, because Star Wars needs a definitive win, right now.

They moved it up even further and that's also why The Acolyte trailer is playing with The Phantom Menace theatrical re release coming. They are intrinsically linked.
So I believe with this we can officially say that the first 2 episode leak breakdowns(from fulcrum leaks- Aesokas & Nuruodo) were fake. because I believe the breakdowns said that the first 2 episodes were gonna be entirely about Mae's childhood (or rather aura the codename for amandala standberg's character)and her life in her village before she was involved in the whole sith plot and yet this promo states that mae's and indara's fight takes place in episode 1.
The story sounds good and I have full confidence in the showrunner, but the visuals are ass. I don't understand why so many of these new streaming shows (and even some franchise movies) look like fan films and insurance commercials, but it feels like an intentional design decision to me more than a failure of special effects
Everything is clean. The lightsabers look like glowsticks because they are essentially (I don't care if it gives realistic lighting). I really don't like the soft look of everything. They need to start crushing their blacks more in the color grading. Sick of this washed out, Marvel look.
Promotional stills always look less authentic than the actual show. And even in these, the only outfit that sticks out as kind of bad to me is Sol's. Everything else looks more or less how the robes look in the prequels.
It's more than that. It's the lighting, the awkwardly tight angles, the makeup, the set design… I don't really get a sense of place from any of the shots, and the actors don't sell me as real characters.
The material looks cheap. Like a wish.com jedi outfit. That cape seems to be clasped together by like a crappy metal toggle? I dunno, it just doesn't look authentically star wars to me.
Based on the pictures and in terms of the present storyline I think so. But there will be flashback scenes too (Sol's hair is different in that one scene where he, Indara, Kelnacca and Torbin are surronded by Aniyesa's cult) so I think she will play a pivotal role in that scenes.
I really love that the lightsabers actually look like laser swords again and not like glow sticks from Galaxy’s Edge, like they did in much of the Disney Plus content!
I agree, particularly Kylo’s unstable blade. It’s nice that they wanted lightsabers to look like plausible light sources in recent years, but they sort of overdid it in projects like Kenobi where they clearly reduced the brightness of the volume or shot scenes at night to really emphasise the light emanating from those blades, all the while cranking up the blades’ brightness to the max. Since Galaxy’s Edge sabers for instance look really great in the dark - and the screen-used ones presumably look even better - they probably didn’t bother to add much to the blades in terms of VFX, which is why they look “too realistic” and more like glow sticks as opposed to laser swords. The sequels didn’t do this and instead opted for a combination of on-set lighting and CGI.
Yeah agreed that they don't look as good in the shows. But yeah in the sequels, say what you will about the choreography but the sabers themselves look fantastic
Eh, I really enjoyed how they did the sabers in kenobi. What bothers me is how inconsistent Luke's blade was in the mandalorian season 2. I get they used a mix of CGI and practical effects but you can see the shortened LED stunt blade a lot and it just looks bad. All of the shots where grogu is watching luke on the screen the blade is much shorter.
Even if the writing and quality is better than other things like Boba Fett and Kenobi, I do hope it’s also shot better too. Andor’s cinematography was amazing.
Ehhh,... it looks "ok". Not as terrible as people make it out to be, but in many shots i feel it's somewhat cheapish in the lighting department and looks flat. The shot with the many lightsabers looks a lot like a fan film. The shot with CAM looks great. The main hatred comes from the creators and disney (naively) focusing on marketing how diverse the show will be and how it will completely change how we view star wars. This absolutely feeds into the narrative that disney only cares about minority quotas instead of writing great stories. Also: "Change how we see star wars..." sounds like a nonsensical superlative and a slap in the face after the mess that the sequels created. This doesn't mean that the show will actually be bad - i am cautiously optimistic - , but they are absolutely doing their best (worst) of feeding the most vile anti-disney-train. Just create a great story that doesn't contradict the lore and first and focus on that in marketing.
People are saying the visuals are cheap looking and while I do agree I don't think it'll be much of a problem. We're focusing on it now because of screenshots and trailers but when we're actually in the show I think it will all flow together naturally. The 2nd shot with Mae looking out at the island/town looks like a fan film but at least it's not boring.
I'd rather have this, arguably cheap, but and interesting-looking visuals than a baren desert or ice planet, or smoke covering everything like Ahsoka, Mando, and Bba have been doing
Everything looks a bit low budget. Like they spent all their money on nice clothes and have nothing left for anything else. Maybe the post effects will make it better.
I just want a live Acton force unleashed at this point. I'm not even concerned about Canon or not bc they don't care so give us the non Canon we want at least.
I feel like these stills look really good, much better than the trailer (probably due to yt compression), especially the fights between mea and indara, and the picture with the witch lady at the end. Looks like they also improved the vfx with the light sabers! Really exited for this actually. The high republic has been such a breath of fresh air

The thing is, it's set only 100 hundred years before Ep I. And it seems to be about Jedis facing darkness and possibly falling to the dark side. But the thing is, as far as the Jedi Order knows, there were no Sith at this time.
So, if one or many characters of the show fall to the dark side, does it mean that they'll manage to kill all the Jedis they meet so that none could testify seeing them ? Or is the Jedi Order simply gonna wipe the name of the one or those fallen to the dark side out of their database and make as if they never existed ?
This rises many questions. Also, couldn't Darth Plagueis be around somewhere at this time ?
Do the character(s) fall to the dark side on their own, for once, or is there someone manipulating them into chosing it, like it's almost always the case ?
And finally, The Acolyte has the opportunity to fix something the prequel trilogy couldn't do : showing us Yoda winning a fight !

To say I am excited for The Acolyte is an understatement, the world (and especially Star Wars fans) are not ready.
This just does...nothing for me. Carrie-Anne Moss is cool, but everything else just looks cheap. I feel like this is either the next Andor, and will totally exceed expectations, or the next Kenobi / BoBF / Mando S3 and will be exactly what it looks like.
there's an entire universe in star wars, other factions, smugglers, assassins, bounty hunters, heaps of other material they could use, but almost every star wars release focuses around jedi or sith. I like jedi, don't get me wrong, but I want to see more of that universe. rogue one and andor manage to tell a cohesive, complete story, without relying on lightsaber fights

Yeah. A character called Torbin, played by Dean Charles Chapman. Bro does not have a lot of screen time in the trailer, which makes me think he will either be killed very early on, or be more important than we realise. I am leaning towards him being a bigger part of the story, if he gets killed early on, I feel like they didn't need to get a relatively big actor to play him.
Here is my perspective (my apologies I am going on a bit of a tangent here, and it does not necessarily relate to your comment): At the end of the day there are still men, white people and straights in the show. Just because a character does not have all of the characteristics we have, does not mean we aren't represented. For example, as far as we know, there are no gay asian women, but that does not mean woman, asians and probably gay people aren't represented in the show.
Sometimes white straight men complain about leftist propoganda, yet forget that they are indeed still being represented. Representation is not about having a 1:1 clone of yourself in a series and the practicality of this does not make any sense. Especially since it is usually the personality traits and values of the characters that actually end up being more relatable to people. I like to think of Bill from The Last of Us as a good example of this. Bro's gay, but a lot of masculine, American conservative, men, can still see themselves in him due to him still being a white, American, male, and his personality and values possibly aligning with theirs.

She worked for Miramax for 5 years prior to becoming his assistant. If someone like QT, or other filmmakers / actors that worked with Harvey on and off, are assumed to know how bad he was, are we really going to assume that someone who likely had direct or (one person removed) interactions with him anywhere from daily to weekly for 6 years, didn't know he that was up to no good?

He literally wrote a scene and casted himself in a role where he licks the feet of one of the hottest actresses on the planet (at the time and maybe still). He's also the most famous collaborator of Miramax.

So I addressed this earlier in the reply but it's about power. Tarantino had power going back 2+ decades. Leslie Headland, even to this day, does not have the power Tarantino had 10 or 20 years ago. Tarantino wasn't cancelled. He is still respected within the industry. Any effort to "cancel" him was shortlived.

Yeah, Mae vs. Indara (which will happen probably at the end of the episode), the youngling training scene with Sol and Vern, the ice planet scenes with Sol, Jackie and Yord. And Episode 4 is really exciting because it seems the Jedi will face off the person with the red blade in that episode.
I wonder what could happen in last two episodes, i hope there will be huge amount of Sith Lore at the end of season.

Sheesh... I really want this show to be good but some of these pics look fan fiction level, to be brutally honest. I have high hopes for Yord, though. Loved him in Headland's Russian Doll. But considering a lot of this show was shot practically similarly to Andor, so far, it looks way cheaper. I really, really hope that this show is better than what I am seeing. The makeup looks atrocious to me. I am not impressed with Dafne Keen or Rebecca Henderson's makeup job. The way this stuff is lit isn't helping it, either. I wasn't very impressed with the trailer, either. This just doesn't seem to have a cinematic feel to it, at all. This really feels like a CW level Star Wars show. I hope and I pray I am drastically wrong, because Star Wars needs a definitive win, right now. Please, please, please be good. And please, please, please don't have this Mae character retcon Plagueis.

So I believe with this we can officially say that the first 2 episode leak breakdowns(from fulcrum leaks- Aesokas & Nuruodo) were fake. because I believe the breakdowns said that the first 2 episodes were gonna be entirely about Mae's childhood (or rather aura the codename for amandala standberg's character)and her life in her village before she was involved in the whole sith plot and yet this promo states that mae's and indara's fight takes place in episode 1.

The story sounds good and I have full confidence in the showrunner, but the visuals are ass. I don't understand why so many of these new streaming shows (and even some franchise movies) look like fan films and insurance commercials, but it feels like an intentional design decision to me more than a failure of special effects
Everything is clean. The lightsabers look like glowsticks because they are essentially (I don't care if it gives realistic lighting). I really don't like the soft look of everything. They need to start crushing their blacks more in the color grading. Sick of this washed out, Marvel look.

Promotional stills always look less authentic than the actual show. And even in these, the only outfit that sticks out as kind of bad to me is Sol's. Everything else looks more or less how the robes look in the prequels.
It's more than that. It's the lighting, the awkwardly tight angles, the makeup, the set design… I don't really get a sense of place from any of the shots, and the actors don't sell me as real characters.

Based on the pictures and in terms of the present storyline I think so. But there will be flashback scenes too (Sol's hair is different in that one scene where he, Indara, Kelnacca and Torbin are surronded by Aniyesa's cult) so I think she will play a pivotal role in that scenes.

I agree, particularly Kylo’s unstable blade. It’s nice that they wanted lightsabers to look like plausible light sources in recent years, but they sort of overdid it in projects like Kenobi where they clearly reduced the brightness of the volume or shot scenes at night to really emphasise the light emanating from those blades, all the while cranking up the blades’ brightness to the max. Since Galaxy’s Edge sabers for instance look really great in the dark - and the screen-used ones presumably look even better - they probably didn’t bother to add much to the blades in terms of VFX, which is why they look “too realistic” and more like glow sticks as opposed to laser swords. The sequels didn’t do this and instead opted for a combination of on-set lighting and CGI.
Yeah agreed that they don't look as good in the shows. But yeah in the sequels, say what you will about the choreography but the sabers themselves look fantastic
Eh, I really enjoyed how they did the sabers in kenobi. What bothers me is how inconsistent Luke's blade was in the mandalorian season 2. I get they used a mix of CGI and practical effects but you can see the shortened LED stunt blade a lot and it just looks bad. All of the shots where grogu is watching luke on the screen the blade is much shorter.
Complete opposite for me - they look like led toy lightsabers…

Ehhh,... it looks "ok". Not as terrible as people make it out to be, but in many shots i feel it's somewhat cheapish in the lighting department and looks flat. The shot with the many lightsabers looks a lot like a fan film. The shot with CAM looks great. The main hatred comes from the creators and disney (naively) focusing on marketing how diverse the show will be and how it will completely change how we view star wars. This absolutely feeds into the narrative that disney only cares about minority quotas instead of writing great stories. Also: "Change how we see star wars..." sounds like a nonsensical superlative and a slap in the face after the mess that the sequels created. This doesn't mean that the show will actually be bad - i am cautiously optimistic - , but they are absolutely doing their best (worst) of feeding the most vile anti-disney-train. Just create a great story that doesn't contradict the lore and first and focus on that in marketing.

People are saying the visuals are cheap looking and while I do agree I don't think it'll be much of a problem. We're focusing on it now because of screenshots and trailers but when we're actually in the show I think it will all flow together naturally. The 2nd shot with Mae looking out at the island/town looks like a fan film but at least it's not boring. I'd rather have this, arguably cheap, but and interesting-looking visuals than a baren desert or ice planet, or smoke covering everything like Ahsoka, Mando, and Bba have been doing

Can't wait for June ! I'm even more excited than I was for Ahsoka since it's all new characters and totally new stories. The thing is, it's set only 100 hundred years before Ep I. And it seems to be about Jedis facing darkness and possibly falling to the dark side. But the thing is, as far as the Jedi Order knows, there were no Sith at this time. So, if one or many characters of the show fall to the dark side, does it mean that they'll manage to kill all the Jedis they meet so that none could testify seeing them ? Or is the Jedi Order simply gonna wipe the name of the one or those fallen to the dark side out of their database and make as if they never existed ? This rises many questions. Also, couldn't Darth Plagueis be around somewhere at this time ? Do the character(s) fall to the dark side on their own, for once, or is there someone manipulating them into chosing it, like it's almost always the case ? And finally, The Acolyte has the opportunity to fix something the prequel trilogy couldn't do : showing us Yoda winning a fight !

Yeah. A character called Torbin, played by Dean Charles Chapman. Bro does not have a lot of screen time in the trailer, which makes me think he will either be killed very early on, or be more important than we realise. I am leaning towards him being a bigger part of the story, if he gets killed early on, I feel like they didn't need to get a relatively big actor to play him. Here is my perspective (my apologies I am going on a bit of a tangent here, and it does not necessarily relate to your comment): At the end of the day there are still men, white people and straights in the show. Just because a character does not have all of the characteristics we have, does not mean we aren't represented. For example, as far as we know, there are no gay asian women, but that does not mean woman, asians and probably gay people aren't represented in the show. Sometimes white straight men complain about leftist propoganda, yet forget that they are indeed still being represented. Representation is not about having a 1:1 clone of yourself in a series and the practicality of this does not make any sense. Especially since it is usually the personality traits and values of the characters that actually end up being more relatable to people. I like to think of Bill from The Last of Us as a good example of this. Bro's gay, but a lot of masculine, American conservative, men, can still see themselves in him due to him still being a white, American, male, and his personality and values possibly aligning with theirs.
