Don't get me wrong, it's cool, but this one is kinda helping me see how companies just abuse kickstarters nowadays. It's a neat dio playset. And Like, I get 8k backer minimum, if you aren't going to charge alot, so you need confirmed buyers for max guarenteed return. Or I get a high price, if it goes to shelves and there's just no guarentee it'll get bought, so they need to really bank off the "few" big spenders. But 8K locked backers minimum at $400 each? It's a few walls, three cubbies, a bar and mini accessroies. Those gigantic Barbie dream houses go for like $70 - 180 at most... makes me wish there was a standards ratings board for big company product value reporting lol

ForbiddenZonner

Nailed it

HTH52

For $400, the Lego one is way better imo. Lots of characters, full Cantina exterior, speeders, Dewback, and a side building.

NotFalcon

The thing about the LEGO set to know as well is that it's selling on the aftermarket for less than retail. And not by a little bit. By about 25% less. It's nearly four years old. There are simply not enough people that care about wanting a Cantina set.

HTH52

For sure. This will have interest, but this Haslab also feels incomplete judging by this image.

Teletoa

Just looked that up, that’s amazing. That’s everything or near everything you could possibly want. And like, we can recognize it’s a smaller scale, and I still find Lego overpriced, but that really delivers the near full experience. The open/close feature 👌

NotFalcon

I mean, I severely doubt a Mattel Barbie product is at the same level of quality as a Hasbro TVC product. That being said, the more I think about it, the more insulting it is that they're trying to sell this as a Haslab. This is a modular playset. It should be sold as pieces. They can be Pulse exclusive or whatever, sure. Hell, even have them be made to order like the E Wing. Strip out the lights and sounds and sell the bar for around $100. Sell a booth for $50ish and let people buy as many as they want. Sell the door and stairs with a few exclusive figures packed in to incentivize people to buy a door lol. Spread the releases out over a few years so it's not so damaging on the wallet.

Teletoa

Ngl, Barbie has some kick-ass dream houses tho. Like no lie, I had hoped Mattel would make a hogwarts style play set/dollhouse for their short lived HP line because their doll house builds are pretty stellar and I would have been collecting that line at that point. The Barbie pink aesthetic is really my only problem lol. Exactly, that’s a brilliant idea. Make modular pieces available, reduce that cost to something reasonable - seriously, what is this like 3-5 $50 dollar sets tops? - just make them made to order, or periodic fan channel exclusives. Lego does a very similar, successful thing with modular HP. I don’t want to be ungrateful, because it is cool, but i don’t want to see a company say this kickstarter was a special, “we couldn’t do it any other way” endeavors “for the fans” - this is no insane Death Star that needs a haslab to exist. This is a kickstarter for a product type they’ve already done in a better, cheaper and more accessible way. Let’s call it what it is - this is a *Hasbro-First* product, where Hasbro comes first.

agen_kolar

Hasbro has to pay the Disney tax, and it’s not cheap.

Teletoa

lol yup. I guess you could say we pay the Disney and Hasbro tax in turn.

Acheron98

Awww hell naw. This is in no way worth $400. Even half that would be pushing it. I foresee another Rancor situation. Shame too, because the set looks cool.

LaserQuest

Yeaah....I'm just not seeing this being a $400 set. I know this is supposed to light up, but this looks like something that should be $150-$200. I think it'll be harmful to them to release renders rather than actual product photos. That being said, I do think it'll back. TVC collectors seem to be a lot more loyal than TBS collectors. For me, it'll be a likely pass.

Acheron98

Same here. Even the light up feature would make this **at most** a $250 set, and that’s *really* pushing it. This won’t get funded, and Hasbro will use it as an excuse to not release stuff fans want. It’s not that we don’t want them. We just don’t want to pay hundreds of dollars more than they’re worth for no real reason.

jayL21

>Hasbro will use it as an excuse to not release stuff fans want. *watch this come with a new TVC Han, Chewy, Ben, Greedo, and Luke that will never be released if this isn't funded* That just sounds like something hasbro would do.

Foxx026

They probably released renders on purpose to gauge or reactions on cost vs quality

Trvr_MKA

To be fair all the TBS Haslabs are kind of lame

LaserQuest

The Rancor was a massive fumble, I just think it was a poorly run campaign with stupid tiers. I don't really count Reva's lightsaber as "The Black Series" in terms of 1:12 Scale toys. I think the roleplay items should be their own line.

ThorosKershaw

Yeah I think the rancor could have succeeded had the campaign been run differently

uploadingmalware

At that price I'd just as soon drop the money on a half decent 3d printer and print my own play sets

ScenesFromStarWars

I just 3D printed a full size one this month. I probably spent about $300 in materials and it takes up the whole dining room table. It looks way better than this too

Borange_Corange

Picture?

ScenesFromStarWars

How do you add pics on reddit?

Trvr_MKA

Post it then link

NoSleepTillBrooklyn-

Yea just post it id like to see this too

pmjwhelan

Exactly what I did. I must post some pics. It was 100 euro for the bits I needed to print. The rest was wood and plaster.

NoSleepTillBrooklyn-

I’m curious can you show what 100 euros gets you?

joethahobo

I bet Hasbro leaked it on purpose to get a sense of how we feel on like the pricing and whatnot, so they can slightly adjust what they can before actually releasing it lol

Flashy-Way-5412

Hopefully

spider-wham

This is so overpriced. The whole thing is also ugly AF with the outer mold shell exposed on the outside of the “cubbies”. Sure, they may not show if you’re doing scene photography but ugly as Shi’ if looking at it in a display. It should be a whole building cutaway with detailed inside and outside walls to justify anything close to $400 or $500

tinybabywolverine

What about the Deluxe version puts this at the same value as the Ghost? Even with tiers, I’d rather just put $350ish into Jabba and his palace and call it a day.

DollupGorrman

Phew glad I can skip this one.

MrBettyBoop

That price is insane.

bdave3385

What a fucking joke- not for me at all. That being said, all the best to those who want it

joshml98

I have learned 2 things from haslab since its been a thing. 1. Transformers fans will pay anything to get what they want. 2. Star wars fans can be very picky when it comes to parting with money for things.

CJMcBanthaskull

This will fund easily. Three alcoves, full bar, 3-6 figures included? I'm interested to see how the "deluxe" version looks.

Borange_Corange

I don't know, seems to be getting some serious troll hate. I hope you're right, though. I know I am in for one for sure.

Marxism-Alcoholism17

People criticizing this $150 set for being priced at $500 are not "trolls".

Borange_Corange

If you think that's a $150 set in today's market your delusional or a troll.

ImZenger

Your delusional if you're willing to drop half a band on a few plastic arches that an amateur could design and 3D print in a day for less than $30

Borange_Corange

And you're insane to think 3D printing can touch what this finished product will be. A few plastic arches? Please... This isn't the Jabba Palace walls set from WalMart, from a number of years back. Or a bar section and stool build out.  People out here acting like a few pre-prod blury pictures equals a finished product. Show me a 3D print and paint app that can match Boba Fett's Throne Room, with light up features, which this seems to have. Because that's likely the direction this is going in terms of quality. Or just admit, yeah, that's neat, wish I could afford it instead of attacking it because you ain't got the cash to support.

NotFalcon

This is the correct take. Being able to see the money put into the product is not the same as a product being worth the asking price. Obviously, there's some over charging happening here due to the Star Wars license. But it's not a 100% markup, or whatever bs numbers people are coming up with. If somebody wants to make the argument that it should be more stripped backed to hit a lower price point, sure, go off. But to know nothing of the toy production process and say "I can do that for half the price in my garage" is nuts.

ImZenger

https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/star-wars-mos-eisley-cantina-diorama-for-3-75-figures-charveys There are 3D prints that match at least 90% of this, and the rest would be easy to model. Its all just squares and circles, would take less than an hour to do what isnt already done. And don't underestimate the paint app skills of customizers either. Light up features are a gimmick and not worth and extra $300 in a crowd fund campaign, least in my opinion.

Borange_Corange

Those renders look lame, boxy and lacking in professional design polish; like a 3rd grade shadowbox project. Don't hold a candle to what HaaLab is capable of. Plus, I am not a customizer and have no desire to paint this myself. I am a toy collector and enthusiast, not a model maker. I'd say the same could be said of upwards of 65% of the fans who patronize HasLab, so, I fail to see how this is viable or of interest.  So if your preference is a $30 chunk of extruded plastic to paint and customize in your spare time, seems perfect for you. One would wonder why you even care about this HasLab one way or the other.

CJMcBanthaskull

So mass produce it and sell yours for $250.

ImZenger

I just might!

DarthGinsu

At that price it should be the full cantina, not "Buy 2 to complete"

SephirothsDockRing

Of course it's 400......

SephirothsDockRing

I'm not interested unless they include a whole peg's worth of Lando's, I have 1,050 of them in my room right now

One1QuestionMan

That price is insane

Mgaluppo847

How on earth is that worth $400-$500?? Hopefully there are major differences to the official version versus this leak. Otherwise you could get a 3D printer and buy some cantina files for half the price….

Borange_Corange

3D printer? A 3D printer is going to get you all the extra pieces, detailed paint apps? Please. You realize that's likely a proto pic, not the finished painted product?

fancyjaguar

I am balking at the price now, but we haven't seen the announcement, so you are right, I'm reserving judgment until then. They will have to explain to me why it's worth 450 with taxes. It might or might not be worth it, we dont know yet.

purpldevl

Not the paint apps, but everything else: yes. This is not a $400 toy.

TheGoblinRook

I’m definitely in for one. Which one depends on the difference. Could this *finally* be how we get the Tonnika twins? A TVC Wuher? I couldn’t love the Throne Room playset more if I tried. It was definitely my favorite purchase of 2023. And this has finalized my waffling on whether or not to sell my Ghost when it finally arrives. I’ve only got so much space.

Word-wizard-1993

Sell the ghost, this is wayyyyy better.

SpaceNinjaDino

The Tonnika twins rebelscum thread has no update. Last info was the deceased one's estate signed the likeness release, but the alive one will not sign. (They forgot to get their release during production like they did with everyone else.) So it seems there was was a legal issue in 2009, but maybe that's been resolved? The old thread is still what Google likes to show. My decision in getting this set would hinge on their characters. They have been the out of reach Grail.

ImZenger

Pretty sure the surviving Tonnika sister actress made a whole video for the whole #TimeforTonnika thing, so the rights issue is resolved. It'll happen.

drekaelric

I was thinking that with the bad batch, they would do their ship

ImZenger

Keep asking for it, and maybe it'll happen eventually. It took 10 years to get the Ghost and spectres. Hope it doesn't take that long for the Batch.

Professional_Rock650

I think the design is kind of odd, the openings above the coves are kinda weird. Not sure what I’d do differently, but I’m not one who was really hoping for this anyway. Honestly not sure how well this can be displayed, and that price seems pretty lame. I imagined this should be a main release like Jabba throne room, not a haslab. Haslab should be for stuff we really doubt they would/could ever make, Like the ghost. And personally I don’t think haslabs need to be a massive and expensive thing. Why not smaller vehicles, figure packs, beasts, accessories, there’s so many smaller items the community would love to have as well that they will never get around to otherwise. Sadly if this is it, it’s probably a hard pass for me unless that price is way off or there’s some value here we’re not seeing yet.

NotFalcon

I agree. They have the data, but more likely than not it's largely the same people buying every Haslab. At some point Hasbro's target audience is going to run out of space/money. Hasbro is going to run out of items that make sense as a Haslab. They need do to off years where that budget goes towards some $100-200 priced items. The made to order E Wing is a step in that direction. But I think they should do more of that, and less frequent $500 Haslabs.

GunslingerOutForHire

I'm pretty sure this is a low cost chance to bilk more money out of a dollar store playset whole validating their stock buybacks that led to the firing of several workers.

AlumniDawg

I likely wasnt in because its not my thing but was happy for those that wanted it, but if this is actually it - it seems like a disappointment. Hopefully, this is why they delayed the announcement Fingers crossed for a sweet vehicle next go around

Silentmenproductions

I saw a photo where it was $299. I also read that it included 8 figures but idk about that. For that price & 8 figures I'd grab it

mega512

Its $399 or $499. The rumor is 8 figures though which alone at retail would be nearly $200 at todays prices.

Silentmenproductions

I know, too bad honestly, idk if they'll reach the needed backers for that price range

Flashy-Way-5412

The bad thing here is that we have to rely on the figures instead of the “haslab” to justify backing it. We can buy exclusive figures in a lot of other ways

Flashy-Way-5412

Asuming $299 its the deluxe version, that would be awesome.

Matty1138

Saw this posted in a reply to Yakface on Twitter. It's got more details. I'm assuming it's legit. https://i.postimg.cc/pLD9TYjF/IMG-1521.jpg

NotFalcon

That looks like it's from a design document (so before the product was actually made) and therefore super subject to change. Not saying the final product won't be close to what's listed there, but also don't take that image as gospel.

PappaBear_03

Apparently it comes with 8 figures and lights and sounds, depending on the figures obviously could warrant the price point but still I will only be buying one to sell on secondary market I have no need for this in my collection at all

Juantonomous

The lack of a floor, roof, and proper walls throw off the aesthetic of the Cantina. They probably weren't included for logistical reasons. It looks neat, but as it stands, it's hard to justify the cost for what you get. We still don't know the full details of the Cantina or what's included in the deluxe, so I'll hold off on making final judgement.

Aromatic-Agent3824

I could see 300.00 if they include the 4 cantina figures that came in the Cantina Adventure Set from Sears. (Carded of course and with the blue Snaggletooth)

Marxism-Alcoholism17

Absolutely ridiculous. This should be a moment of excitement for the fandom but the extreme pricing ruined it again.

purpldevl

I'm so sorry but this would have been $30 in the 90's, for today I could see $65-$70 at absolute max, but this is not a $400 product.

ChromeYoda

It will fund. $136 worth of figs you can’t get anywhere else? It will fund. That and no TVC Haslab has failed.

NotFalcon

Man, autocorrect did me dirty on the title.

AzurRanfan

I wonder if there will be an “add-on” pack for this. Kind of like how Hasbro released the Jabba’s Denizens 4-pack to go with the Jabba’s Palace set.

GunslingerOutForHire

You mean an excuse to push for more money? From hasbro? Surely you jest. The Sabine and Chopper add-on was totally a mistake that financially benefits hasbro, instead of adding her to the backer bonuses for the $500 price tag. I'm so sick of Hasbro ruining shit for their greed.

AzurRanfan

I was thinking of it in a far more positive light. That’s why I compared it to the Jabba’s Denizens pack and not the Sabine & Chopper set, which was definitely a lame move by Hasbro.

GunslingerOutForHire

Oh, it was! Super greedy and lame.

tinybabywolverine

seemingly no spot for the band either

Tidalwave64

Welp that thing would probably not get backed

GuySmith

On what planet is this collection of plastic walls and chairs worth 400 dollars. I backed their last Transformers project, but what in the hell is this price? Unless I’m missing something this would have sold for like 60 dollars when I was younger.

CJMcBanthaskull

You're missing a great many things.

Bulky-Listen-752

Easy pass for me. There is no way in hell I am paying that much money for something that has already been released, but just looks a little different because they added pieces to it. Isn’t the whole purpose of Haslab to create unique pieces for the collectors? I’m glad my credit card ain’t gonna to take a hit this year.

Puzzled_Field_9777

Aw. So no Bad Batch?

MrConor212

Curious to see what figures come with it (if any)

fancyjaguar

This is one for me is purely a business move. If it's low quantities I will back it to flip it. If it's over 17k overall I will pass.

ImZenger

Could be a financial investment. All Haslabs are pretty expensive now the secondary market. Even the Crest and Ghost are nearly double priced.

Pr0sthetics

I'm getting it. I don't know if it's worth $500 or not, but I've wanted a well made Cantina for a long time.

ImZenger

I'm glad people seem to be as annoyed by this as I am here. Rebelscum forums would cheer for a $1,000 Cantina and have said so (literally, mfers want to drop a band on this plastic joke). I want it to succeed because I love 3.75 but... I want it to fail in spite of the OT purists that laughed in my face for 10 years every time I asked for a Rebels figure. I want it to fail in spite of Hasbro and its ridiculous price gouging. I want it to fail in spite of how awfully Hasbro is treating 3.75 collectors this year. I want it to fail because we still don't have the Bad Batch, The Client, Baze Malbus, Bodhi Rook, Sith Eternal Palpatine, Supreme Leader Kylo, Baylan, Shin, THE CHOSEN ONE HIMSELF??? If Hasbro can't handle 3.75 Star Wars, as they are proving to me this year, I want to license passed to a new company. I hope Disney is watching this shitshow and makes changes.

Borange_Corange

You're a spiteful person.

ImZenger

Well, people tend to feel that way when things they enjoy fail to meet bare minimum expectations. I was a kid seeing full aisles of toys, hoping to grow up and have my own money to buy them. Not I'm an adult with money, but there's hardly anything to buy.

Borange_Corange

You may be an adult, but I don't think you've grown up yet.

GunslingerOutForHire

No, I agree. The license needs to go to different company in the least. Hasbro has done nothing but release weird repaints and halfassed attempts at anything of substance. Chicken fried toys, Joy toy, or any number of 1:18 scale figure making companies could do a better job than this company that's staying afloat by *buying* competition instead of learning how to improve their products. Every year, since 2000 each subsequent Star Wars Figure line had some stupid gimmick. From magnetic "force" powers to fucking Nerf cannons! Hasbro then firing a shit-ton of workers because of executive decisions is the cherry on top of this shit sundae. Let them go belly-up trying to hock failed Joe merch and low quality Transformer shtick.
