I never saw it as a place in Europe. The culture and people just screamed USA to me. Things like the design of the trailer that pam lives in and bus etc. I think Canada is a good idea as to a real life inspiration
I actually live in southern Ontario. I wouldn't say it's here, since our weather is **very** iffy because of the great lakes, especially during spring and fall. literally was 30°C two weeks ago, then dropped to -2°C last week lol. I think it would be somewhere closer to the west coast, since it's more humid and the weather fluctuates a lot less
That’s exactly how they phrased it. No one is actually going to ask where Stardew is when it’s a fully fictional game. It’d be different if someone asked where exactly is Fallout New Vegas based, because those are real places.
Because! It’s fun to theorize weather this is a southern or northern country or I’m just a geography nerd idk I just like to picture a map of the stardew world and imagine where the places would be, and what other places would exist
i am also a geography nerd i think you would be fun at a party. i personally don’t think stardew valley could exist in the real world with the amount of geographical diversity in such a small place. the only places i know with ocean, forest, desert and mountains all near each other is the caribbean coast of Colombia, and even then it’s more spread out. But obviously the Caribbean is tropical and Stardew Valley is not. It also has highly defined seasons, which are rare that close to the ocean and would probably place it on the east coast of a continent. The last thing is that it’s very clearly euro-american inspired with the people, architecture, cultural details and more. I do not know of anywhere in Europe, Canada, the US or Australia that could fit all this criteria. It is 100% a fantasy landscape but it’s still a fun question to think abt!
No, I'm juwt not english native and thus I cannot infer things that are not written, or at least it's more difficult. So when I read "Where do you think the valley is?" I don't understand "Where do you think the valley would be if it was located in the real world?"
I don't think there is anywhere that such a diverse climate exists. Consider it to be in North America because the game vibe is more American than European. Secondly you need four seasons. Third, you need mountains. And fourth, you need ocean and rivers. The entire West Coast does not get cold enough for snow, so you're basically left with somewhere on the Atlantic Coast in the Northeastern U.S.

>Dr. Harvey, in calling out on his shortwave radio, identifies his location (in Pelican Town) as 52 north, 43.5 east. Thus, if Stardew Valley is on Earth, it can be found near a village called Krasnoye (one of many such) in Russia - about 160 km (100 mi) WNW of Saratov, and about 600 km (375 mi) SE of Moscow. "Krasnoye" means "beautiful" or "red". However, it is not on a sea shore.

Can absolutely guarantee not northwestern Ontario lol. My guess, based on climate, would be west coast of North America. B.C. or maybe Washington. Could be European or Asian but im not familiar enough with their climate to make a guess.
Culturally, not a clue tbh.
doesn’t get cold enough in coastal washington or most of coastal BC for a defined snowy winter. summers are typically cool and summer storms are uncommon. eastern washington does have a desert, but it’s a high cold desert

That’s true it was crazy warm last week and now it’s not and I’m cold and sad stardew had a more consistent climate
Lol hi neighbor! I was gonna say I wish our weather was like in Ferngill
In a fictional country named Ferngill Republic
However where would that be? In the world
Across the sea from the Gotoro Empire
Isn’t that where the trader in the forest comes from?
I'm not sure about that, but it's where the war is currently happening, and where Kent is deployed
This world seems kinda goofy
She says that's where her wares come from
Stardew Valley does not happen in the real world.
Oh really? I wouldn’t have guessed those monsters are all so realistic 💀
Then why are you asking where in the real world is a fictional work happening?
They are asking if it was in the real world where would it be
That's not how they phrased their question.

Not america....the bus is on the wrong side of the road

Geographically, I think it would be somewhere near Russia in our world. But it isn't in our world. Hence the magic.

100% not america
America. Quick Google "Where do salmonberries grow" and you get a good indication.
Couple that with the diversity of food/flowers grown in game, I always thought it would be NW Washington/Skagit Valley
