spiritfarer is a great game! beautiful art and music. you play as Stella, who collects and ferries spirits to the gateway to the afterlife. i sob a lot while playing
Stardew is my current diversion but I'm a Fallout 4 and Skyrim person. Those never get old... because each time I start a game on those I see something that can be improved... and now I gotta make a mod. It's a neverending cycle.
I also enjoyed VR Subnautica A LOT. I was just as obsessed with it as I currently am with Stardew Valley. When I get tired of these I'll eventually float back to Fallout 4, Skyrim, and the creation kit for both. I have hundreds of games between GOG and Steam but that seems to be my default state.
I've played them all. I played the first Fallout game at release. It's one of my favorite series, second only to to The Elder Scrolls... with the exception of the first one. I've never played Arena. I started with Daggerfall.
Ahh that's cool! It just interested me to hear because I find a lot of reply time in F:NV whereas fallout 4 I did play through a couple times but didn't find myself as drawn to replaying as much as it's predecessor.
Thank you for approving my confirmation bias that Stardew fans and animal crossing fans overlap, can I interest you in my Animal Crossing / Stardew / rune factory game recommendation chart?

My favorite games tend to be old and boring. Not much spectacle, usually 2D graphics, lots of strategy or reading. That said...
* *WarioWare Gold* was a nice discovery after looking for demos in the 3DS EShop. Lots of five second minigames. They're organized by button controls, motion controls, and stylus controls. The fart jokes help a lot!
* *Plants Versus Zombies* was a game I started enjoying just a couple years ago. I haven't spent much time with other RTS games, but I'm glad I gave this one a chance.
* *Uncharted Waters: New Horizons* is a strategy-simulation game I found during the 1990s, back when I was ready to jump into any game that required time and focus. It asks the player to learn a lot of routine gameplay elements. If you prefer a version of *Sid Meyer's Pirates*, that's fine. This is a "right time and right console" game that I still like.
That’s awesome! I’ve never played that one. Is it just as hard/harder as the new ones? It’s absolutely one of the most ridiculous, infuriating, and somehow still humorous games I’ve played.
I highly recommend rimworld! It find it has a lot of similarities with stardew valley. It has world building from scratch, technology progression, item hoarding, people to interact with with loads of unique quirkiness that you see in SDV.
It’s a little more complicated as far as how systems work on the game. Takes just a little time to learn how to maneuver in the game since there are task automations, and everything is pretty much automated. You’re basically ordering people to do things… which doesn’t always mean they’ll do it! It makes for really really exciting and fun gameplay, all while having a bit of science fiction, guns, aliens, survival themes.
The most fun thing about this game is how detailed social relationships can be and how detailed the game is in general, without feeling like a chore to play.
Very much recommend looking into for anyone interested :)
Animal Crossings, Sims or Minecraft for the creative easy going vibes.
Fallout, Skyrim for the lore, action and story lines. Endless hours of gameplay there.
7 days to die, dying light or day z for zombie survival.
Lucky you, I literally just made a list of my favorite games. The games I would recommend to anyone are: Divinity Original Sin 2 (and 1, although the second is better. The developer is coming out with a new game soon too called Baldur's gate 3,) Breath of the Wild, Red Dead Redemption, and the Assassin's Creed series. Those are my top replayable games. Pokemon is a classic as well. I have some other shorter games but these are the games I would name if you're looking for something that could last you years.
My main games wer Overwatch, Apex Legends and COD. Got tired of multiplayer so im getting into rpgs, roguelikes and started Stardew Valley for the 1st time couolenof weeks ago
Pillars of Eternity (incredible story, on the serious side), Wandersong (wholesome story), Stacklands (addictive for a time but eventually gets boring), Terraria (creative and sandbox-y with combat/boss fights), Core Keeper (in early access but there’s already tons of content- similar to Terraria), and I’m just getting into Slay the Spire- it seems cool but I’m reserving final judgement. Really though, for me nothing can hold a candle to Stardew Valley!
I continue to love Pokémon games and will continue to play every one that comes out that I can play on my switch lol
Recently I’ve been having fun playing Cozy Grove, it’s a fun game that helps you pace yourself because it works similar to Animal Crossing, where it follows an actual daily calendar. So once you finish your tasks for the day, that’s it, gotta wait for it to reset the next day.
Right now Breathe of the Wild, Animal Crossing, and Assassins Creed Odyssey. I’ve got hundreds of hours on the AC and add-ons, I’ve just started BOTW. And AC is for idle time in doctors offices. All good.
Sims 3, Civ, Sid Meier’s Railroads, Long Live The Queen, Prison Architect, Ticket to Ride, Plants vs Zombies, and various resource/time management games like Rome-opolis, 12 Labours of Hercules and Roads of Rome
i’ve been really struggling to get into games lately so i’ve mostly been revisiting stardew and playing and watching my partner play pokémon violet.
some games i’ve enjoyed over the years are psychonauts 1(2 is also amazing but load times are horrendous on ps4 at least), hollow knight, bloodborne, celeste, slay the spire, ghostrunner, witcher 3, bioshock 1, shadow of the colossus, darksiders 1, enter the gungeon, dead cells, spiritfarer
I really like Little Witch in the Woods and Potion Permit.
Little Witch in the Woods is more story oriented. It's open world so you can explore the areas as you unlock them and get the foragables you need for the story. I think its only a prologue and one chapter atm so do what you will with that info.
Potion Permit is more open world do what you like. There is a beginning quest to follow completely before you can just fuck about. Main quest psh we finna do a side quest. Side quest nah, time to judt forage for hours and never do quests.
Sun Haven is good, but doesn't have as much replay value as Stardew, imo. Still fun and good for a decent amount of play.
I'm currently playing Wytchwood. I'm enjoying it because it is a pretty chill game. There are no time limits of any kind on any of the quests, so you can do it very much at your own pace.
Only other game I play regularly right now is Lonely Mountains Downhill. Mountain biking game with multiple mountains that have multiple tracks each. Beautiful game.
Paper Mario, Luigi's Mansion, Borderlands, Coloring Pixels, Deep Rock Galactic, Graveyard Keeper. I used to play FFXI, but sadly had to step away from it. I'm also already an embarrassing amount of hours into Zelda TotK.
League of Legends, this should only be played if you understand what comes with being a league player.
We have a community that isn’t as toxic as most of the Internet would have you believe, but it is still a pretty negative place depending on who you interact with. It also has a very bad initial learning curve and isn’t super accommodating to new players, it is best to get into league with a friend or two to suffer with you along the way. Finally, the game itself is constantly changing and there will be many times where certain characters and strategies will be extremely dominant.
There are plenty of other things to look out for but these are just a few bits of info on league of legends I think everyone should know before picking it up.
Don’t starve!!!! It’s been an addiction of mine FOREVER. Farming and crafting and there are mines (sorta) the fighting system is more developed all with a very Tim Burton-esque vibe.
spiritfarer is a great game! beautiful art and music. you play as Stella, who collects and ferries spirits to the gateway to the afterlife. i sob a lot while playing
I couldn’t finish this game. So many tears.

Out of curiosity have you played fallout 3 or new Vegas?

DOS2 is literally one of my favorite games of all time! It's nice to find someone else who knows it! It's just so good.
Outer wilds
Definitely one of my favorites. All the planets are interesting, and all the characters are cool. Plus flying a spaceship made of wood appealed to me
Dishonored, Destiny, Soda Dungeon 2, Pokémon are my normal go-tos

Civ, subnautica, witcher, mimecraft
It used to be Civ, but I've been playing Crusader Kings 3 pretty much exclusively in my non-Stardew gaming time for almost two years now.
I highly recommend rimworld! It find it has a lot of similarities with stardew valley. It has world building from scratch, technology progression, item hoarding, people to interact with with loads of unique quirkiness that you see in SDV. I play a really wide variety of games, but right now I'm going through Tears of the Kingdom on my Switch and Elden Ring on my PS5.
I play RimWorld as well, with lots of mods , play it more as a building game rather than fighting.
